  1. There are no passengers! Each team chooses their leader. The leader goes to duel -- for the price! If he, or she just in case there is Araweelo in the house, wins, the Team are hooked up and they will be in an adventageous position as they will be favored by their leader now Il Capo sitting on the highly regarded gambar. But if ur team leader loses (say chickens out or worse takes nose dive in the crocodile invested river as result of head on collision) you will either be under the thump of the wiiner or cut off from the rest and isolated on the opposite bank of the river.
  2. This game is not your usual kadhimeey kadhim crap nor is it kabay-bilataa kinda sissy game. This one is do or die game. It is a subset of the Chicken game and can be reduced to its bare bones -- by cutting all the mathematical and "mutual destruction" intellectual thing -- for the hope that by doing this all can comprehend its minute details and can thus participate. That being said lets get started. There are two contestants and four possible outcomes and they are (win, lose) | (lose, win) | (lose, lose) | (win, win). For simplicity sake suppose there are no resources to compete for instead there is this imaginary golden cup a.k.a the "top seat" There are two contestants competeing for the venerable gambar. They are: 1 - Reer Qurac are rooting for the big man Hon. Warranle. 2 - Reer Qansax are supporting their guru Imam Mahdi. The system under which contest is held is not stable and there are all kind of disturbances be it yaaci, haaweey, doc-ka-yeer, darbiyo salaan, and other less known waxa-la-yirri crowd. Now the organizers of the game thought that the game will have unimpeachable credibility if the venue is the dangerous bridge by the name of Liiliiqato in the beautiful riverside city of Beled Weyn. Each team will be given Kareeto driven by healthy and muscular power donkey. They need to cross the bridge and get to other bank of the river. Do that in one piece and you win. Now there are four scenerio: 1- Swerve and let ur nemesis pass to avoid head-on collision ([lose, win] aka chickened out hence the name chiken but in this subset it is a dove) 2 - Swerve in the hope that your enemy's instinct is as same as yours and he will do the same and swerve ([win, win] both chickened out -- what a dove! -- Baashi's position in the larger scheme of things) 3 - Straight and your nemesis swinges the wheel and hence chickens out ([win, lose]) 4 - Both drivers drop their right foot on the gas pedal as dead paper weight Straight on the line without blinking -- boom!!! Allaha u naxariisto both not to mention the bridge takes a dive -- disaster all around. Straight, Straight variable gives you head on collision which only means ([lose, lose]) Choose your team if you would and select ur leader from SOL politics forum and have him get on the kareeto of his choice. My team are (don't worry it is not for real: Bilaal Liqaye Libaax Warmoog Libaax is our driver and my hunch is he will look the other fool squarely in the eye and made decision based on the assessment he makes about the character of the other leader.
  3. At issue is whether the civil war within Muslim polity such as the conflict in Somalia qualify as Jihad. In response to that question, which is the subject of discussion in the upcoming debate as infered in the clip, the Sheikh tried to narrate the background of these events as a backdrop of the larger question of how to end the conflict. Xiin awoowe as they say in the land of honey and milk you gotta get the record straight before you dissect the details of the issue in dispute. Who did what, when, and why and what were the consequences of the decisions made by the leaders is something that needs to be straighten out from the get-go. I kinda feel vindicated. I will sue these two scholars as they seem to advance good 'ol Baashi's "policy" without giving the proper credit he singularly deserves The good Sheikh said there is a third way and that is to negotiate with the devils in the hope that we save thousands and thousands of innocent civilians without compromising our core principles. How and under what terms -- all these are secondary and can be worked out once the concept has been accepted. Listen how the Sheikh puts on his tactician gear when he narrates ways and means of putting Ethiopians on the hot seat -- get your ducks in line first, give the politicians a way out, and have them tell the Ethiopians, in a united voice, to get out. If it gets out wonderful and if not plan B kicks in and wala you are in a position to galvanize and energize grassroot uprising from enf to end. It might not work but it is effective if it takes off from the ground and saves blood of innocent civilians as well. I say amin to that.
  4. Col. Yussuf rode roughshod over warlords from Benadir. He has just killed them. Totally!
  5. Originally posted by BiLaaL: The irony of it all is that an avowed humanitarian, who still heads the chairmanship of the Somali Red Crescent Society, can take up a post within an government guilty of creating the biggest humanitarian crises (anywhere in the world) of this year. And perhaps the worst humanitarian crises Somalia has ever seen. Mr. Hussein[Nur Adde] has either overestimated his ability to bring about a change within the TFG (especially in relation to their disregard for civilians) or he is hopelessly optimistic. Or worse, simply after power himself. One assumes that Nur Adde, being a humanitarian himself, will make the fate of the 1 million (and rising) homeless, his number one priority. But how can he affect the humanitarian situation when displacing civilians has become the number tool of 'defence' for the very entity he has chosen to join and represent? I'll wait to see what he does but my initial instinct tells me that he is bound to fail. At the least, he will end up damaging the values of a humanitarian. He is already in breach of an important humanitarian principle: never afford legitimacy to a murderous regime by excusing its transgressions and certainly not by joining them! With his decision to accept the PM post and not speak out against the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe (he hasn't said a word about it - despite it being six days since accepting the position and three days since being sworne in), Nur Adde has breached the forementioned principle. His reputation is fast eroding. If he continues to keep silent on the humanitarian situation, he would have made a mockery of his chairmanship of the Somali Red Crescent Society and would have foreshadowed what most of us imagined. ^Balanced, objective, and honest read of the situation surrounding this eleven hour nomination of Mr. Hussein. Xiin, Liqaye, Ngonge, Bilaal,...few characters around here who can see through the fog of civil war. This post made my day runti. I find him to be guarded and cautious optimist who is open for new ideas.
  6. Your imagination knows no bound awoowe. Ahem you are losing the plot mzee. Better stick to the substance of the discussion or get lost buddy. Oops here is my graemlins
  7. ^Whoa -- that's an improvement. I'm back. Xiin and ThePoint awoowayaal ha ku daalina. Facts have nothing to do with what the folks are spewing on the board. Their entire objection to what I have said can be reduced to unfounded suspicion.
  8. And I refuse to make that simple choice. It is a false choice. There is a third way. Castro that's over the top buddy. Frustrated? Camel Boy gotta run to a meeting I'll be back Insha'Allah.
  9. Accacia Tree, hate is too strong a word, don't you think awoowe. Where Las Caano loyalty lies is crystal clear. Ha ku daalin booowe.
  10. Originally posted by Castro: ^^^^ Keep squirming old man. I have genuine advice for you: "af daboolani waa dahab". Silence is golden, awoowe. Keep it to yourself buddy. I ask nothing of the sort. Originally posted by -: LoooooooooooooL@Baashi, there is no explaining away on this one. It is true my neighbor literally forced my family out of Mogadisho, but I wouldn't wanna use my bitter memories to justify the crimes being committed against women and children. That's said, I think Baashi is right in stating the current debacle squarely lies on the shoulders of the Somali masses. Ethiopia is simply taking advantage of idiotic nation, Trying too hard still. Out of all the folks in the site, you are one of the few who doesn't make sense. Who justified what crimes exactly? Kidding me. I challenge you to put together few sentences that can back up whatever you are trying to say. What a waste!
  11. Nephtys No I'm not saying they should be held laible. Wonder where you gleaned that tidbit from or how you come to that conclusion. Kashafa, I stand by my first post and every word of it. No retraction of any sort. Make no mistake baby boy I am conversing with you just to make the point that the events in Benadir however tragic they are and it is tragedy with monumental order al right have a whole lot of history associated with. Events don't happen in a vacuum. Ethiopian aggression has been facilitated by Somalis. There are sizable Somalis who call them friends. The majority of Somalis are complacent in what you called occupation. The informed folks know pretty well why that is the case. The center of Somali sorrow has not been touched yet and unless and until grievances are thoroughly addressed there will be no closure. Tragedies are tragedies. True. But culprits are also culprits. I mean there are videos out there showing loved ones getting lined up en mass and getting executed point blank and the individuals who pulled the trigger and directed the execution are now devout "Muqaawama". The same "Muqaawama" are calling other people's houses their own. There are people who side with Ethiopian aggression just because of that. In this context the enemy is you and Tigre is the friend. You won't be able to kick the Ethiopians behind unless you realize the animosity between the Somalis run deep and is in need of resolution. What you mistaken for sympathy for TFG from my part is nothing more of supreme knowledge of how this sh*t got stuck in the far end of the pipe and how hopeless it is to wage a war with no grass root support. I heard people say what's happening in Mogadishu is nabsi. Allah is making "them" pay at the hands of cadow to what they have done to us. You don't wanna understand what's happening to Somalia. Why all other regions are watching the drama from a distance and not lifting a finger. Fine. I just happen to understand all too well halka ay bahashu ka qurunsan tahay. PS: Btw I didn't excuse or explained away the atrocities in Benadir. I did no such thing. It is tragedy of first order. The victims are innocent. However I did say that I do understand why victims (of the other tragedy) may be disposed to seek revenge. Their own tragedy explains pretty well all the anger they may be harboring in their hearts. Human nature through and through.
  12. Super. Where does "Hudeibiyah Approach" fit in all of this khidca thing? Like striking a deal with Kufaarul Makka huh! I mean they even refused to sign the dotted line on the grounds of the prophet being given a divine title. They wanted the son of Abdullahi Ibnu Mudhalib, one of Qureysh equal mansab with other Qureysh. And yet the prophet pbuh obliged to meet their demands. Have you ever pondered over the wisdom in striking a favorable deal with your enemy if that allows you to recover, recuperate, mend fences with neutral elements of the mix, build alliances, or what have you whatever it takes to have the upper hand at the end. Without burst of emotions tell me exactly why is it so terrible to give the other side an dignified exit if that brings about what we are all after: peace and getting a chance to planting seeds that empower this fractured movement of Islamists so that they will be able to capture the golden cup?
  13. So consensus on the secession or to sugar coated for easy digestion consensus on the need of winning the hearts and minds of SE folks is not that biggie eh? Qudhac hush hush awoowe you supposed to be holding the line. What's up with u buddy? I mean don't lose the plot. Don't you see the case some of our colleagues here in SOL are making which says some segments nay majority of the beesha are for dismemberment of Somalia. What you fussing up is the fact that is not the case. You are saying what secessionist talking heads sell as grass root support is not more than bought politician who sometimes proves useless. Leave the folks there alone bilaa caleyk. I know you are mere cheerleader and you don't have iota of influence but for crying out loud quit this arm chair general attitude.
  14. Easy there Kashafa. Tea is on me. Sit down here by my side awoowe. Before we take a good stab at this old story yet again remember this is a cyber discussion. I am ignoring Castro. Xoogsade, we know him through his posts and for that reason no surprise there. But you Kashafa awoowe you come across as genuine. I kinda have this gut feeling that you are different. Unlike Castro you are not playing the nationalism card. You seem to be mad not because of the sad state of Somali republic but because you seem to have affinity to a cause many nomads of the site share with you namely the plight of Islam and the state of Muslims. You supported UIC because of their principled political platform. For that reason I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt aight. Very generous o me, I know. Now let's file the Kalligii Muslim trick in the shelf. Easy easy kidos. I don't have to do this but just for the record I don't support, root for, excuse, or absolve responsibility or consequence of guilt from TFG and their backers. Very clear statement. Crystal. I said it before and I'll gladly do it again if it helps you sleep better. Xoogsade demands never ending Baroor Diiq to prove that our sincere condolences for the victims is genuine and I suspect you too have joined his league. Now that tidbit is out of the way let's got down to the nitty gritty of the post. As the saying goes you better start the engine cuz you will need all the eighteen wheels. Here I go: What's happening in Benadir is tragedy in biblical order. It is unfortunate situation and for you to entertain the idea that I will excuse Abdullahi Yussuf's madness because I share my 34th great great grand father is in itself very very telling. You are either very closed minded individual who have no room for dissent opinions that articulate views different from your take of the events and hence your blowing a fuse whenever I call it as I see it OR you are yourself a "bigot clannist" in the closet (talk about projecting..) who tries so hard hiding it from us but time to time tears a gasket when folks like me who happen to have clan affiliation with the Abdullahis of the world post their views. Why all these fuss anyway? Is it because I don't share your misguided call for war from thousand miles from the carnage? Is it because I tried to examine why some of the folks go to the extreme where they depict the civilians mowed by Ethiopian tanks as terrorists? Is it because I equated previous tragedies that's befallen to Somalis to current one? Is it because I see neighbors (thirty years in some cases) killing (nail through the head in some cases) their neighbors without cause or provocation worse than dying at the hands of known historical enemy? Or is it because I understand why would victims of nineties may be disposed to seek revenge? Remember I don't mind you or anyone in ur squad calling me names. All I ask of you is to level with the nomads and qualify ur posts with lil bit of reasoning we can follow. Maaweelo iyo madadaalo weeye sheekadu.
  15. With pleasure Juje. Awoowe I don't pretend to know much bu I do make use of my noodles. Here is the alphabet of the Somali civil war, Ethiopian aggression, so called war against terror, and lineal segmentation based negative tribalism. Bear with me... Awoowe this civil war is so complex it is beyond the ability of the nomad mind to comprehend all of its variables. When these forces I mentioned above converge ending the conflict becomes uphill battle. But not untenable. There are two options: One is Lix halkaad ku joogtaan, dagaal laabta ka ogaada. Haddii luqunta laydin jarro lugaha meermeersha.. With no grass root support and popular backing that transcends across the divide , they are reduced to wage an urban war in the civilian neighborhoods. They hit. They run. Tigre forces hits back. They don't advance an inch. Innocent civilians pay the ultimate price. And both sides start their spin campaign. This is not how you win wars. The other option is to start believing in a world where there are winners take all crap. You compromise. You talk to the enemy. You negotiate. Build coalitions. Form alliances. Mend fences. That is khidca. There was a song penned by a man by the name of Abdiwali Kilwe Cawaale in which he spills this wisdom: Boqol aan u turihayn, Kan beegsada ma geesaa? Kan begsada ma fuleybaa? Boholyoow ma ciilbaa? Ninka baadi kaa maqan? Beylahshaa ma gacal baa? I don't expect you to grasp the underline thesis in the song in its totality but I expect you at least to understand the first three lines. Look there is no TFG to talk about anymore because most of the players in the original officers club are either defected, demoted, rendered irrelevant, or go awol in disgrace. However the king makers are still there and desperate for a way out. Give them a dignified exit as a starting point in the long road of ending the conflict.
  16. What you expect from a warlord. Why would this be a news anyway. I mean you have war criminals running a makeshift militia backed by existential enemy killing, maiming, looting, and committing all sort of unspeakable and heinous crimes and Xoogsade is acting up yet again as usual as if an accountable gov violated the supreme law of the land. Talk about comedy!
  17. Originally posted by ThePoint: The collapse of Somali society began in the late 80s and accelerated in the 90s. Clearly it predates Ethiopia and its involvement in Somali affairs. And that is the root of the problem - Somalis unable to share power. If folks want to reach genuine peace in Somalia, they should take up offers to talk and negotiate and involve non-partisan actors like the UN etc. Preconditions and red lines are indicative only of a desire for power and its trappings and not a real desire for peace. Simple logic ain't it. It is like two plus two equation eh. Even toddlers can figure that much. The tragedy of course is animosity between folks are so toxic so much so any1 who proposes negotiation is seen as well to put it mildly bias. Come to think of it all the pseudo nationalists seem to want is baroor diiq.
  18. With the stroke of the pen, Ethiopian aggression can be terminated. You save thousands of civilians, end the conflict, thwart Melez's "wag the dog" strategy, and inaugurate a new dawn. It is doable and Allah is my witness. This can be done. It takes a man to swallow his pride and make necessary compromises. The time has come. This conflict has many variables and I'm taken back by the simpletons in this site who sees things as if they are black and white with null grey area. Far from it. It is very complicated conflict. It has class, land, clan, personal ambition, historical rivalaries, and religious component to it. Suicidal missions carried out by few brave individuals backed by one segment of the Somali society will not end the conflict. Take it from me fellas. Adduun
  19. It is the other way around actually. Expect a dramatic flip flopping acrobat. Once the well dries up he will land in Bossasso. Gotta see around the corner ya Reverend Love.
  20. My man Prince of NW. This is some news. Ain't it. It shows the futility of the whole thing. Waa markay gabayadu igu soo maaxan jireen. Wiil hoogii waxuu yirri: Sida Gaadhi raadkii niyahow gees walba u jeeda, Labada gani ee aan is galin niyahow jeeb isugu geeyay, Niyahaow galabta ila joogay ee shalay Goday ka sheekeeyay, Walle [waa dhaar ee ogow!] laba garaadloow kaam gurro sheeko!!! Adduun
  21. People don't mind Duke. He is political activist who roots for his idol Col. Inna Yussuf. He is not alone. There are many folks in this section whose loyalty to their xaafad is as solid as Duke's. What is happening in Benadir today is no different from what happened to some segment of Benadir residents in early ninties. In some way that was worse for the tribal expulsion as some called had been carried out by neighbors of the victims. Duke and folks who share his view have not forgotten that event and their lack of sympathy is understandable. Now I am amused to put it mildly by the doublespeak of some folks here. Their hypocracy knows no bound. Their dislike of TFG (politically and tribally speaking) trump their love of country and their faith in Islam. It comes across the screen. Carry on fellas ur cyber waranle as Liqaye would say have been noted.
  22. @Boowe/Baaye. Ebedkeey waxaan arki jiray islaamo indhaha isku haayo oo hadalkaas isticmaalaayo. Nin ma arag SOL ka hor. Wallee maalinba wax uun baad maqli.
