The fact of the matter is that Somalis fought a tragic and devastating civil war. That civil war still rages. No side was able to prevail and claim a decisive victory. All the effort to bring the decade old enmity to a close failed. Awoowe Somalis are divided along clan lines. It is a fact. Animosity between the clans runs deep. So deep that Ethiopia was able to play warring clans against each other for its own ends. It is not a mystery boowe. The fight will go on. Folks will take sides. Warring clans will try to prevail the war by any means necessary including allowing old foe and historical rival to run amok in Somali national seat. It is ugly. But it is the nature of wars. That's where unresolved conflict end up. Protesters in Potomac land are better off to emphasize the need for addressing the root cause of the conflict. If that were to happen Ethiopia will be like a fish deprived of water. It lives and thrives on Somali conflict.

We still have 120 days to go. The marked date is three pages deep in the calendar. Lets wait and see. The two sides (one side splintered into sub groups) made significant compromises. UN and regional groupings and other interested powers who witnessed the proceeding made a pledge to Somalis. Both TFG and ASR expect them to come through on their promises. I have a hunch they will be disappointed and an extension is unavoidable. Folks should give Djibouti effort a chance.

^Don't worry about Oodweyne. I know where the man stands. I know where he is coming from. And I know how to deal with his likes. Originally posted by Castro: If it's a choice between two evils, however, I'd side with Somaliland over Puntland. Yeah, I said it. Still your siding with secessionists is of no significance. Join the crowd. They are numerous.

I do. But why are folks divided? Is it because some are Muslims and the rest are infidels? Is it because some hate to be free and yearn for an Ethiopian occupation? Awoowe halkay bay iska qaban la'adahay?

NG has lost his bearings. My beef with secessionists is limited to the secession stand. I don't think it has legs to stand.

Xiin, awoowe same is true here. Can't watch the thing. I watched the clip long time ago. In any event the point the poet is trying to make is that calamity that visited upon folks back home is a self-inflicted one. Put this one in the Ali Hussein and Ismail Mire's tashbeeh style category.

Free Weekly Islamic Circles by Tayyibun Institute, East London!
Baashi replied to Abu-Salman's topic in General
Norf, if you are into Islamic financing Boston is the place to be. Annual conference for the subject is held there -- in the Harvard. Every year the school publishes a thick paperback volume of Islmaic studies lectures, research, findings, white papers. I don't remember the place but there is also Masjid managed by Indian/Pakistanis. One thing I like it about that particular Masjid is the puplished literature (magazines, weekly gazette, neighborhood newsletters, pamphlets, brochures, etc) shelfed at the enterance for the taking. Nice place to raise a kid. -
I gotta tell you folks the thrill is gone. Obama has lost his magic touch. He's moving to the center which means he has to eat back his words and dish out lame explanations. For those who didn't know now they know the man is just another politician. Still I am going to vote for him. Between the two politicians running, his rhetoric is more tolerable.

^ So true. Hadii malak dhawaaqo, miidaamo dhego ma leh Xiin, urs is no maah maah. Regardless of who coined the phrase, there is something fishy in that lame line

There is nothing sad in that pic. I see a man trying to make ends meet. We are all Xamaali ama xoogsato.

Galkacyu: assasination of Cali Jamac Bixi sends shock waves
Baashi replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
No body knows. Each faction suspects the other side. They are taking out the best and the brightest among them. Classical divide and conquer strategy perfected to the teeth. It's really sad. -
Djibouti dreaming! My man Ali Mooge is up there with the likes of Timacade and Ali Hussein. He really gets down to the epicenter of Somali sorrow. He touched mine.

Galkacyu: assasination of Cali Jamac Bixi sends shock waves
Baashi replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Allah Yarhama. I know Biixi family and it is just sad that they have been targeted since way back when. My heart goes out to his family. My wife and I are friends to Biixis and marxuum's nephew hosted us in Dubai the other year. It is just sad to hear him go this way. -
North and I have reached an understanding. I probed the issue and I think I know where his loyalty lies per his answers. I am not charging you anything. I know for a fact that almost all known sheikhs are against the tactics Al-Shabaab have chosen to employ. Every decent Somali, Muslim, or even reasonable person is against Ethiopian presence in our soil. Where they differ is how to get them out. Most of them prefer to spare Somalis, resolve the disagreements in a practical way, and unite Somalis. Prof. Cadow, Sheikh Sherif, Sheikh Umal all emphasized in shacabka loo turo oo laga soo leexsado kuwa kale. You are Kelligii Muslim and is not a surprise to me at least that you consider all of them as Qaacidiin. Off for a long weekend. Ha la is cafiyo.
-
Certainly. 1. I don't want Al-Shabaab to go to the North. 2. I don't consider Somalis outside Al-Shabaab's theatre of operation as non-Muslims that need to be forced to accept Shar'ia. 3. Puntlanders do not see Al-Shabaab as genuine Muslims fighting for the diin of Allah. 4. Openning another front will exacerbate existing animosity and will widen Ethiopia's leverage over its puppets.
-
Kashafa, Exactly. You sit somewhere in New Egland sipping farapuchino and ask the 20ish to do the heavy lifting. You are Qacid numero uno pal.
-
Ayoub, Well all the notables I mean the real Somali scholars while exhort Somalis to oppose Tigre presence in Somalia tooth and nail, they call for unity in that fight. They exhort all armed Somali Muslims to consider the plight of innocent Somalis in their tactics. They understand that house divided against itself cannot stand. They want the fighters to use khidca, refrain from khilaaf, and be mindful about the present condition of Somalis. What you have here is a kid, a typical Kelligii Muslim, who wants to further the existing divisions. Kashafa, The pleasure is mine.
