  1. As my old mate used to say “Boowe aa la tahay Gibinka” Lixle – let us observe the analysis which you seem so passioante about that you could not wait to share as if discovered the famous mountain, shall we? Betting on the possible proceeds of the potential produce that might be harvested next season is the principal upon which your crude analysis hinges, and once a few layers are being peeled off, up jumps its crudeness, naivety and lack of grasp. Faction heads in Mogadishu alone, (how many?), approximately a harrowing 13 to date if one only counts the ones that control street corners in the city (operative), and on the increase in a rare, unprecedented proportion have been part of the fixture for the past 14 years. They had been forming political allies time immemorial, thus their seemingly coming together today is no different, if doing so at all to the pleasure of other Somalis. So, nothing new there, except perhaps AQassim, the new faction head on the block. Releatively smartest of all in the presence of other faction heads, one must admit considering the rest are of no material in any shape or form, and as he managed to convince many young ones incl. yours truly to refer to him as the President of Somalia (which Somalia one wonders). However smart he might come across when in Mogadishu, terms of the game are of different nature elsewhere. At the table, he is just another faction head with no constituency in the campany of seasoned commandeneers and political heavy weights? I guess you never thought of that, have your sonny? You seem impressed with the rhetorical daily rations inteneded only for the weary ears of the unfortunate ordinary persons in Mogadishu, which mind you fall on deaf ears. However. travels no more than a few quarters. Word has it, he has been engaged in negotiations with no other than the man whose sheer mentioning of his name sends spinal gitters, if not instilling gutt-shrinking nighmares (inaYusuf - the de facto leader who keeps Mogadishu factions heads incl. AQassim like a glue) asking for the Premier post of the future federal government. How so, you might ask? That would be telling, would not it, sonny? It is the same man that the UN, Arab League along with sizeable proportions of Somalis entrusted with the crown jewel in Arta in 2000. Where had it all gone? What does he have to show for it other than becoming a faction head? What does it say about his quality and leadership as a man? You did not bother asking yourself that, did you? What has changed between now and November 03 when stormy AQassim told the world (as if anyone was listening) in his famous “the conference has failed” announcement? Perhaps you did not think of that either, did you laddy? Could the USC faction heads ever agree on a single thing? Although most Somalis wish they could once do so, unfortunately that day might never come. More importantly, the most contentious round of the game has not yet began, and you are already counting your chickens old son. Is this the hurrying of the USC faction heads of the 90s all over again? If so, may the Almighty bless the poor souls of the former capital and its residents. History if anything to go by indicates there lies ahead a lengthy road should that be the case. And there you wish to make a case for such madness and mayhem. Other than throwing up such doodle to the displeasure of others, you might be tempted to try to provoke the intellect. Or is that too much for nubile mind, old son? "As for ONLF being terrorists" - well, well, well, next time you will be telling any one who cares to listen that the USC were Somali nationalist heroes. Aha, and Ouch at the same time. Try it again, and this time try harder, and do not make a mockery out of yourself, will you? Learn a little, And best of luck, Cheers!
  2. One would have thought by now a sense of ownership and patriotism would have sunk in, at least in some parts of the country. It is unfortunate that to this day people are still stripping the relics of the old republic, ripping national symbols to pieces all for a moment's pleasure. And I thought Mogadishu was the only place that fell prey to the “stripping and scrapping” destructive mode where the national treasures, symbols, fittings and fixtures had literally been shipped and sold abroad for pennies. What are the people in Berbera doing shipping out “scraps” as fondly, locally known their national body parts? Do people not realise the cost of replacement is astronomical and will take centuries to replace? We know that such symbolic, nationalistic images are no longer, but why in God's name continue .... .................. 6. Hargaysa’s Authorities and Journalists Have Gone Wild The Hargaysa’s current governing warmongers and it is intolerant people on the media particularly those in the newspapers’ business have seemingly little time to think rationally. Both groups seem to think and act as though they are the exclusive victims of the entire Somali people -dee waa nala xasuuqay, waa nal xumeeyey!. Not only that. They live in an imaginary world where, in their view, everybody else except themselves is literally wrong. Indeed, it is the opposite. They are the wrong ones who are preaching the irresponsible hateful literatures and poking at everybody’s nose . They are perhaps unknowingly the victims of their own stimulant-driven-spirit -xamaasad-mirqaan-iyo heesaha Qaraamiga!. In simple plain language, they do not know what they are talking about. Before I started this article, to be accurate, I have read (I still do) all the major newspapers form Hargaysa including the most worthless-to-read newspapers such as Al-Jamhuuriya, Somaliland Times and Haatuf . The editors of all these garbage-carriers appear to have one common goal and that is, to be precise, writing nothing but the most nonsensical editions. My impression is that, they have far less quality than the Xiddiggta Oktoober editorials that used to carry only the brainwashing propaganda of the regime of Mohamed Siyad Barre. Similarly, the Hargaysa editorials print predominantly the ins-outs and meetings of col. Riyale and his XHKS-like cadres. Max’med Qamaan -USA Qaman73@hotmail.com Here it is
  7. PRESS RELEASE PUNTLAND STATE CONDEMNS THE ARREST IN HARGEISA OF A RESPECTED TRADITIONAL LEADER AND A PAEACE-MAKER Puntland state of Somalia condemns, in its strong terms, the arrest in Somaliland of a respected Traditional Leader and a Peacemaker, Boqor Osman Mohamud ( Buur-Madow) in Northern Somalia. This is also to confirm that the Boqor had been assigned to embark upon a shuttle diplomacy between the Presidents of Puntland and Somaliland by the initiative of the President Dahir Riyale Kahin. The President of Somaliland spoke by phone on several different occasions with the President of Puntland, Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed each time through the arrangement of Boqor Osman Buurr-Madow. 8. Libaax _ Xaaasha my man. Issims in Puntland rule with their minds (patriotism and desire for lasting peace), and hearts (passion for the people) irrespective of the prevailing political conditions on the ground. It is not the first, nor is it the last time that an Issim in Puntland went on the attack condemning the government for its political agendas. Then again, genuine elders in Puntland are known NOT to dirt their hands with the political barterings of the day. One hardly sees Boqor Mohamoud, Islam Mohamed, Garad Saleban, Islam Bashir, Sultan Abdisalam engaging politicians, or politics. And wisely so. I feared Garad A/Gani's fate more than any other, yet there he is in Las Anod condemning ina Yusuf at every given opportunity. Even at the height of Puntland's constitutional crisis with Arta at full swing, with Hassan Abshir and Dr Ghalaydh on the move, genuine Issims were never under any kind of threat. It has to be noted that junior elders of Siyad Barre's creation are of a different genre altogether.
  9. Sophist/Libaax.... I throw in the towel in agreement to disagree with the honourable Horn from Galgaduud. Cheers.
  10. So Ghelle’s plan is well on course, eh? Unbelievable! What was the old saying “Ama Afkaaga hayso, Ama Riyaale Raac” That truly depicts a rather ghastly scenario - the worse that one could possibly hear in this day and age. Reflections of the old Egal days of rounding up traditional elders for voicing up their opinions. What is next? Torching up their houses! Will the people rightly revolt against these travesties and violation of personal liberties, and finally dislodge Riyaale, or will he be given another lease of live to serve his mentor to the detriment of the vulnerable Somalis?
  11. Ayoub – It never seizes to amaze me as to how you and you comrades from Somaliland seem obsessed with ina Yusuf to the extent of having nightmares at the drop of a hat. One would have thought by now you would have grown as old enough as to distinguish the difference ‘ween the entity that is of Puntland, and ina Yusuf, the head of the State – albeit Ina Hashi now calls the shots. I bet you do not even know what he stands for – that would be asking, would not it? Ayoub wrote - “In Puntland, Col. Yusuf is both the person and the law” If so, how was it that the people of Puntland revolted against his administration and in fact succeeded in dislodging him? That does not sound like the picture that the lads from the sinking ship that was once “Somaliland” and the lasses from the sunken ship that was once southern Somalia wish to portray, is it? Ironic, would not agree my old son? Then again, we will not bother asking you as to what the law is, and who might be above the law. It is a non-starter my old son! Worse yet, people of a place where its own citizens are deported to foreign countries (this by far defies clear logic) is being marketed as a save-haven, eh? MsWord wrote – “Kind of reminds me of what Barre was accused of...no?” And whatever Siyad Barre might and might not have been, the deeds of the moronic USC compatriots have dwarfed his legacy. Words could not possibly describe and one would require a life time to even get started.
  12. Ayoub - I do not expect you to understand as to why, but read how the local people reacted to the arrests - a local reporter at Radio Las Anod reflects upon that - The law is above the person ! If a deputy minister is found to be at fault, he or she shall not be allowed to step aside the law. Ever wondered what they have been accused of? I would tell you, but that would be telling, would not it? For me to know, and for you to excavate in the dark…..aha! Sharcigu qof walba isaga ayaa ka sareeya Dhawaan waxa aad wararka ku maqasheen in magaalada garoowe lagu xidhay madax sare oo ka tirsan dawladda Puntland oo kala ahaa wasiir-ku-xigeen iyo Agaasime. 14. Text excerpts of an interview with David Kay Q: What happened to the stockpiles of biological and chemical weapons that everyone expected to be there? A: "I don't think they existed. "I think there were stockpiles at the end of the first Gulf War and those were a combination of U.N. inspectors and unilateral Iraqi action got rid of them. I think the best evidence is that they did not resume large-scale production, and that's what we're really talking about, is large stockpiles, not the small. Large stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons in the period after '95." Q: You came away from the hunt that you have done believing that they did not have any large stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons in the country? A: "That is correct." Q. Is that from the interviews and documentation? A. "Well the interviews, the documentation, and the physical evidence of looking at, as hard as it was because they were dealing with looted sites, but you just could not find any physical evidence that supported a larger program." Q: Do you think they destroyed it? A: "No, I don't think they existed." http://www.reuters.co.uk/newsPackageArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=444516&section=news And to further conceal the truth, in other words keep lying to conceal the original lies – guess what the US is trying to do now? 18. The Djibouti factor in the Somali peace talks Puntland Patriotic Party PPP/04104/CHGPL1902 Therefore, Djibouti inhabited by Somalis of ......, could hardly be expected to remain iustus, or just in the complex Somali problem. And for those territorial expansionism and clan domination, Djibouti, a Somali territory itself is a part to the Somali problem, and could neither be expected to remain impartial, nor unprejudiced to the warring political groups in the Somali reconciliation and peace talks. And as such, we urge the IGAD heads of State & Government, EU, the US government, IPF, AU, Arab League, the International community, non-governmental organisations supportive of the Somali peace talks to reconsider Djibouti’s inclusion in the reconciliation process, and its arbitrary role in the complex Somali problem. 20. Call it what you will, but the future looks very bleak if these statements have any truth to them. Is the Twin Cities unique in this cultural unheaval? Or are other Somali inhabited cities equally troubled? How is London coping with this problem? Is it 'cos of the cultural disparity amongst host nations that precipitates the fall of the immigrant youths into the pits? How are the Scandanavian communities faring? Is Australia any better, or are we adopting the culture of the Aborigines there too? Is the West Indies culture prevalent in London and in Toronto? And why? "I do respect the notion that these males are caught between two cultures. But that idea only goes so far. When given the opportunity to come to this country for a fresh start, one can pick any sub-culture to attach to. A lot of young Somali males attach themselves to the worst America has to offer, the rough gang-thug Hip-Hop culture. Wearing their pants around their knees and referring to each other as “Niggas.” This is fundamentally wrong at any level, by any group, especially new immigrants. This is a choice that these young men make on their own" Erik R. Bergling, KingsleyBergling & Associates L.L.C http://www.pulsetc.com/article.php?sid=857
  21. The pseudo rector of the century The peace talks were stagnant for almost six months for him and his demands for concessions. When not locking himself up in hotel rooms refusing to engage other leaders, or perhaps not storming in and out completely snubbing dignitaries of the host nations, A/Qassim was gyrating in Arab capitals with a bottomless basket. When not crying foul, shifting the blame, and accusing others of hampering the peace process, he was recruiting junior faction leaders to further complicate an already complex matter. When not claiming to be the de facto, legit head of State of the whole of Somalia, he refused to travel outside his hotel room if not accompanied by heavily armed militia. When not dismissing autonomous administrations in Somaliland and Puntland as “Balaayo Land” borrowing phrases from his close confidante, and spin doctor, the history professor of U of M (Samatar Jr), he unleashed his militia to inflict atrocities upon civilians in Marka, Barawe and Kisamayo with unprecedented fervour and valour. When not squandering some $50 million in aid and financial assistance secured in the name of the poor Somalis, he was signing deals with foreign entities to exploit Somali resources, (banana contracts with Libya and tourist residences secured with promissory notes and loans) as collateral. When not demanding reimbursements of some $20 million in loans to be paid to Mogadishu brokers (apparently owed by his Arta TNG), he remained egotistical asking to be recognised a legit Somali President alongside Abdillahi Issa, Adam Ade, Abdirashid A Sharmaarke. And finally he comes to his senses, dumps his recruits at dawn, and agrees to rejoin the peace talks. NOTHING gained thus far. NONE of his original superficial demands met. NO new friends won. Compromised his political constituency though never succeeded in capturing large followings. So Why? I do not consider him a nationalist. Nor do I reckon him doing this now out of the goodness of his heart. Or for the Somali people for that matter. And mostly, persona non gratis in the political arena. Perhaps our resident specialist – (Horn, a supporter of the Arta TNG if I am mistaken) and his newly minted lads from could offer an opinion?
  22. Perhaps this will help? After all one only listens with one ear that tunes into Hargeisa? ..... Jabuuti waa u diyaar inay si hawl yar ku qabsato Saylac oy wax badan sheegatay. 23. S H A S N A MediaWatch Somalia: The Peace Process & the Djibouti Problem The latest on the Peace Process & the Djibouti Destabilization Djibouti In Djibouti a restless Ghelle was brewing a battle plan to foil the Nairobi outcome. It was a plan hatched with the newest of friends, a fellow **** man (same Somali clan lineage), Mr. Dahir Riyaale Kahin. It was a plan that began in mid 2002, after the death of President Mohamed Ibrahim Igal. Having convinced himself that it was Abdullahi Yusuf and Puntland that disowned his personal vow of dominating Somalia, he vowed to dismantle Puntland. Mr. Dahir Riyaale Kahin, who himself was licking his wounds after he was chased out of Laas Caanood in December of 2002, was immediately on board to execute what they thought was a "brilliantly conceived strategy": the dismantling of Puntland. However, to proceed with the war plan, Mr. Riyaale had his own set of conditions. To fulfill those conditions, after couple of visits back and forth from Djibouti, it was agreed the contact person from Hargeysa to be Mr. Hussein Ali Du'aale (Awil), Somaliland finance minister. On the Djibouti side, Mr. Saciid Barkhad, the deputy prime minister of Djibouti and at the same time minister of sports and public works, was designated to represent Mr. Ghelle. It is notable that the two men are both close relatives of Mr. Riyaale, and are of the ******* sub-clan. Condition (A) of the battle plan calls for a full participation by Djibouti, in both men and material. Djibouti immediately consented to arming and financing Somaliland , which continues to this date. Condition (B), in case of plan failure, calls for the resettlement of Mr. Riyaale to Djibouti. To fulfill that condition, and as a show of good faith, a three story villa for Mr. Dahir Riyaale Kahin is being constructed in one of the more prestigious neighborhoods and right at the Djibouti beach. This villa under construction is adjacent to the one resided by the Yemeni Society of Djibouti. Phase one which calls for the completion of level one is complete. According to the "Concord plan" (Concord is both the engineering and construction company in charge of the project), each level would consist of two bedrooms, one living-room, a kitchen and a bathroom. 24. With the Somalia peace process entering a critical phase, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan voiced concern today over rising tension between the administrations of “Puntland” and “Somaliland” over claims to the Sool region. Tensions between "Puntland" (Northeast Somalia) and "Somaliland" (Northwest Somalia), have been growing in recent weeks, with both claiming the same territory. http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=9498&Cr=somalia&Cr1=
