  4. MKA yoonis - Jawaabtu waa haa. "Well does 560,000.00 mean five hundred and sixty thousand yes or no? Only answer that and we will be fine inshallah!" However those of us from the North trained in the Britain style, and not the Italian style of schooling get confused when we see "560,000,00" for it means to us 5,600,000 (five point six million) with the commas placed in the wrong spot by someone who has not been to school, which is not quite the case. Do you see where lies the dilemma, now? Tata...

  6. Xiinow, indeed we shall. Nonetheless, anything is better than the dhidars. Thus far, it was a decent start, and today’s transmission covered 2/3rds of Somalia unlike the dhidars' coverage of not even 0.5 of Somalia. Baydhabo & Kismayo were not covered in today’s transmission, but let us hope that gets amended in future transmissions. Nuune – From the right front: Shiine, Khadra, Asha Uud, Abdalla, Yabarow. From the right back: Jamie (Producer), Fred (Chief editor), Xaraare, Haydra (second in charge). Now, be a good chap and inform us old boy, which ones are the crooks, so we would be on alert for their croockery and daggery? Tata…
  7. With Haydra & Asha Uud at the helm, one could hope for an alternative source of news -- a break, if you will, from the Bush House 'dhidars'. Or is it? VOA Somali Service Tata...
  8. Waar MMA, oo dee ma laha maankaa lagaa saaqaye, mise qalad baad iga fahamtaye, inanta [Rahma]waan u tacsiyeeyey mar hore. Tanina niyadsamaan iyo caqli celin ayaa uun bay iga ahayd. "...Nimankaan jalbeebtooda gole jurux ka dhawraayey, Inay jaxar abaal iiga dhigi laabtu jirin mayne, Jasadayda Eebaan ka helin taloba waa jeere." Cakuye dhallinta maanta?
  9. Will share my 2 cents upon the arrival of the new year! Till then, cheerio…and a happy new year to one and to all!
  10. Rahimay - Wail not, mi haldhaa. Melancholic be not, mi dear. Enraged be not, mi lady. Another day, no? Baashow - Queer turn of events, indeed! Xiinow - "Nimankaan jalbeebtooda gole jurux ka dhawraayey, Inay jaxar abaal iiga dhigi laabtu jirin mayne, Jasadayda Eebaan ka helin taloba waa jeere." Ina Abdulla Hassan speaking as he knew best to his nemesis, at a time when his fortresses deemed a security threat elsewhere began to show signs of psychosis -- sounds awfully familiar.
  11. O’ dear -- It is a checkmate with the king abandoning his queen in a gallop. I, for one, was hoping for a variant turn of events than that transpired overnight: one that would have perhaps kept the faith lords in the political fracas in the land, and not completely extricates them from the stage. Yet, another disappointment, eh! The IUC were mostly disciplined, albeit with own rogue, militant elements in its midst with a clear foresight more so locally than not despite its being hijacked as of late and oppositions’ claims of brandishing them all with the same brush, yet with no viable plan. The TFG comprises of bunch of unruly bores with dimmed vision with the exception of the top dog (he has a vision I hear from his fan base -- let us wait and see, I say now that he is being thrown the umpteenth life line -- what a lucky basta*d), but with a marketable formula perhaps more so globally than not. Marry the two, and volla, you might have a winnable spin-off all around. Or so one thought! Ideal I know, especially with Somalis not having the good Lord on their corner despite successive outrageously irksome claims of being the children of God. O’ well… Baashow, now that checkmate is being declared, what say you as to the aftermath? Stay, take cover, or run for your life? Tata…
  12. Baashi - I am in total agreement of the highlighted concerns with the exception of urban combat in Mogadishu, thusly my predicting of stalemate. Let me elaborate – Mogadishu, if recent news bulletin is anything to go by is presently teetering with armed gangs of no discipline or allegiance dying to see the back of the faith lords and their legacy. Further, segments of the indigenous Mogadishu inhabitants who fancy themselves as the rightful lords of the city are in a hurry saddling up the horses wanting a piece of the action. Furthermore, moderate segments of the IUC, who mind you wanted no further offences or ultimatums, are presently speaking truce through diplomatic channels to rid the city of the hard-line elements of the IUC including the big dog himself. Hence, Banadir might not be what you envisage, for it has own deamons suckling the Kerberos’s cuddly udder roaring recklessly day and night. I further agree the TFG is fraught with contradictions in its midst as much as the IUC are, and are likely to squander recent wins in the battlefield if rogue elements including the named ones are not restrained – past experience teaches us that to be a remote possibility as they are neither pot-trained nor could they be properly tamed. However, ceasefire is not quite on the scene yet unless of course you wish to hasten the castration of the king in front of its raven queen. You see before we get to the negotiating table and the sirens of ceasefire could be alarmed, both sides ought to come to the realisation that dialogue is [the] exit. Mind you, it was the faith lords with their preconditions who closed that door last time around favouring combat to pecking. Will the TFG slip into that mode now, I wonder? Thus far, neither side reached the boiling point, and since hands had switched since yesterday with the faith lords being terribly bruised, matters might come to a head sooner than predicted. Again, the hype factor of the might of the faith lords [i wish they did not believe their own lies], the involvement of foreign elements and Arab injections via Eretria courtesy of Al Jazira had been overplayed excusing IGAD, Ethiopia in particular riding on the back of their remote sponsor, the US sanction the use of excessive force and the bombardment of IUC bases to oblivion. Again, you overemphasise Eritrea’s might, commitment and marriage to the IUC. I believed it was a bluff which only encouraged the bullies for only things to end in melancholy. Paragon - I shall pay attention to that. "...What you must pay attention to is the stand the courts are likely to take in the coming days and their deployed tactics." And I shall delay responding to this assertion for another day, shall I? "...what sort of an individual is the 'man' who becomes submssive to the enemy and takes him as his master?" Shall leave there for today, Tata…
  13. Paragon – In the game of chess, chessmate only happens when the only option open for the retreating party is to concede. I see that not on either side unless of course you wish to introduce a new move ala IUC, matey! Aways is on retreat with badly bruised ego not discounting casualties and lost territories, but has a plenty of room to maneuver provided he stirs from the drunken stupor of jihadism and false prophesy of the good Almighty being on his side. Yey is on the offense with his units in tact, and could only jeopardize his stakes by throwing caution to the wilderness slipping into Aways’s flip-flops of yesterdays. I see that not happening. Now, indulge me, what possessed you to declare chessamte in the game? And by the way, the term “ululu’ is generally reserved for the “ladies” in the time of war. You would not be as bold as to equate your adversaries to be “ladies”, would you mate? And may I be bold enough as to enquire what happened to the banner you have been sporting lately? Tata…
  14. Baashi – good to see you too mate. Love the kiddies with their “waawareey” outbursts as if Shiidaad reincarnated regaling us with his late night misadventures from the hereafter. Stalemate I predict, not a gridlock. Not quit there yet -- allow me to elaborate with the injection of a few chess moves. You see, the two colonels are hardened enough to know the possibilities of war. Yey is counting on Aways fortifying his defenses in and around Mogadishu having his frontline offences being squashed with heavy casualties forgoing all else to the now offensive forces of Yey and Co. This is due to Aways’s miscalculation of Yey’s defensive strategy up until yesterday as a sign of weakness, therefore going on the offence amassing his bishops at the front as if they were infantry rangers. With Aways’s forces tired, hungry and defenseless with morale leveling at its lowest, Yey goes on the offense breaking down that final remaining wall in a final push as Aways’s men crumble like a house of cards, and even Achilles with blood dripping down at the tip of his sword could not save the day let alone Sparta’s deluxe fortresses. In other words, I am certain you are familiar with Ali’s infamous robber-doper tactic that saw Foreman punch himself out only to be whipped in the eight round barely holding up his paws. Further, on the 17th, Aways had his pawns squirting off sirens from all pistons with fellowship adulating his declarations so widespread that even Christian Adis Ababa almost commissioned a learning seat along with a fan club for Aways denomination savouring his teachings. Unfortunately, again Aways misread the signs and went for the jagular leaving his king standing in desolute corner with the queen bleeding on its knees as Yey captures his pawns in the earlier rounds set to requisition Aways’s castles with the predicted fall of Jawhar, Marka and Kismayo any time now [if we are to go by news bulletin from the home front]. And now that Aways misspent his fortunes in his frivolous attempts of becoming larger than life, let us see if Yey is any the wiser extending Aways debentures to continue to the negotiating table. Corner him not, I say. Tender overtures serve wonders crunching a man’s yearnings. Thus far, Aways has gambled away his fortunes and is left with a castle or two guarding his wounded queen and stranded king. With Aways holed up in Mogadishu on the defense, and Yey being on the offense, will Yey be the wiser general and halt, or shall he continue the bombardment till dawn with the full intent of decapitating the queen? Or will he be the gentle soul serving strawberries to his nemesis like Salahadin Al Ayub and offer Jurusalam and its now trounced faith lords terms of engagement that satisfy their hold sparing the king any further humiliation? For Aways being the faith lord he is, he is more likely than not to die fighting with the sword in his mouth even if the crescent had been severed from the king’s head. See the stalemate now mate? As for the past history of the two colonels, why do not I deal that hand afterwards as things get more interesting, eh? Rahima – my deepest condolences to you and your family for the loss of your relatives who perished in this god-forsaken conflict. Not only your loss; it is our loss! Xiinow - it sounds much like your heart is doing the sparring, and not your mind. Get it? Shall leave there, Tata…
  15. Waar Baashow maad dhallaanka boholaha xargaga afkood ka yucaysid? Despite the emotions from the young minds and your light-hearted jacbur much of which I find rather amusing, if perhaps ill-timed with corpses rotting on the battlefields and blood being spilt, I must disagree with some of the core assertions upon the rise and perhaps the fateful fall of both or one of the two colonels at the centre of today’s conflict, in particular Aways’s noninvolvement in the civil war and Yusuf’s switching to the enemy corner --wish to delve into both men’s past should you choose to do so in disproving the said assertions for congenial offing if noting more. Indeed, today is a day of infamy for the faith lords of Mogadishu. Quickly, they have re-risen. Hurried, they have been. Politically naïve, they have proved. Lose all, they might. Whatever political capital accumulated over the past few months had been squandered in a matter of weeks…and if reports from Mogadishu are anything to go by, then faith lords have more supports in the Diaspora than in Mogadishu, hence youngsters here circulating the jar for spare pennies and loaf of bread. Happy, I am not about the outcome for alternative ending I have been hoping for. It is however not a dark day for Somalia or Islam as the faith lords perhaps would want us to believe as last minute parallel relationship ‘ween variants of alien breeding and matters of pusillanimous beings is being drawn. Believed any of that, I never. One harvests what one sows. War, the faith lords had called for, war they have been given, rightly or not. Hype does wonders for one’s ego; more damage does it though to one’s self-worth. Thusly, ceasefire is highly unlikely at this juncture ‘till the lady luck sings the concession tune of one side with the other extending gentlemanly handshake to the trodden party bound to accept unrestricted meager offerings. And what is left unfortunately for us in the distant is read the cries of the young and bellows of the old. ... and by the way, there is a slight problem with your latter analysis of what a ceasefire ‘ween the warring parties would resemble -- what you propose my dear chap are terms for and by right-thinking minds, and neither unfortunately could be classified as such. On one hand, the faith lords fancy themselves as the rightful rulers and representatives of the country albeit actuality trumps a different tune despite their initial popular support in Badir and its environs. On the other, you have the TFG contesting the said claims doling itself up as the legitimate government of the country despite its influence reaching further afar than the inland terrain. How does one reconcile? Easy, you say. Hammer out win-win formulae satisfying both parties. Easier said than done, I say. For neither party is acquainted with the concept of win-win, rather win-lose is being sought with the winner taking the spills of war. Stalemate... Tata…
  16. Alle-ubaahane, Whilst your call for jihad against those whom you classify as the enemy is admirable, I am afraid I personally would have to say “NO”. I do so, for I see nothing that which justifies the call for war, let alone jihad. I will for what it is worth go a bit further to add the enemy you speak of is indeed and actually closer to Islam than you and your colleagues here calling for jihad are. In my view, you are [the] quintessential enemy of Islam, and if any jihad is to be declared, it must be upon you. Which Islam, I wonder might you be speaking of? Certain I am, you and I do not subscribe to the same tenets of Islam, nor do we pray to the same God. Perhaps “tollayeey”, which better fits your call for jihad, would be a golden currency to stir the dozy miniatures in your camp for appallingly contemptible rogues, ‘ilma adeer’ you are. You are neither to be trusted, nor heard of let alone heed your foul bellicose and iniquitous call for jihad. In other words, p*** off, mate and may you burn in hell! MMA - what is in a piece of cloth, I beg of you? Tata…
  17. My dear Mr Oodweyne (aka Tolstoy), or as I like to refer to him Maestro Commodus, I see you are still at it catapulting the neighbourhood to an early doze with your telltales of heroism, bravado of belonging to “victorious lot†wielding empty spade laden with half truths and homegrown spinnings only woven to satisfy your lost soul. Victimism and defeatism, my dear boy is a commodity widely on sale in the Western regions of the former British Somaliland, and if it is true history, not the homegrown assertions regaled to massage thy egos for the mourning ladies on display we are to trade, then recount bona fide events, should you dare. But, for argument sake, let us conclude as claimed that you indeed are the “victorious†ones whereas “us – by that I shall construe along clan lines as derived from your continuous mentioning of the late dictator - inaBarre†shall be known as the “defeated†lot. Here, I shall depart an old verse from the late inaAbdulle Hassan spun at a time when the “victorious†lot were rationing on cowsdrops in the Togdheer plateau “...†"...Naasilo xun baa lagu yaqaan nimanka Iid…re wax ka niiqsan toban jeer kuwii naaqurta lahaaye Nasab hadaad tihiin gaaladaad nici lahaydeene. Naxli baad ka dhigateen halkaan narriga lahaye Nasteexadu waxay idinla tahay naafacaan jirine Ka nacawdu sheydaamadaad nacam tiraahdaane. Naar-quutayaal iyo kufraad nebiya mooddeene Naartii waxaa idinku guray nibiriyaashiiye Nasaarada waxaw taabacdeen waa najuusnimo e. Naagow tihiin ferenjigii, nalashka dheeraaye Nacalluhu kuwuu fuulay baad daba nushlaysaane Naamuuskiin wuxuu jabay markaad nacabka raacdeene..." Men of true nationalism and victory, eh? These were the “victorious lotâ€, where they not? Fancy telling the lads in SOL what year the cited verses were of? How selective one becomes as one slices events of history to one’s feeble pleasures and flips for one last drop – only fools hear not of past years. Rather tempting it was to pen a rather lengthy response, yet recalled our resident Maestro Commodus learnt not from face to face combat, for none he had seen, yet gallant, gutsy and stout he blathers from distant corners, thusly I shall not bore the rest of the congregation with similar poppycock. “Cakuye taariikh iyo gabanada Iid....r…†Baashow – you seem to be committing Alfonzo crime of moving the timelines and the historical bar beyond 1991, which is the year history had began so far as our Maestro Commodus is concerned, for any talk of prior years, historical events or past political sidings is non entity for our resident spinster. And for what it is worth, I am of the opinion that inaYusuf is in a far better position today than he had been a year ago when he had been written off of possessing no political stock. Whether he shall mount the stallion to the green pastures of Banadir or not is a different matter. A betting man, I am. And my sterling is on the stallion. Fortune teller, I am not unlike our Maestro to predict the comings of tomorrow, but rainy days are yet to come. Tata…
  18. Ayuubow – laguu waran...there are those amongst the congregation who know not of what a government entails, and there are those who are privy to the goings of a nation state body structure who could decipher the difference ‘ween “a†government, and by that I mean institutions, agencies and branches, and its officers, personnel theodolite. Being unique creatures as we Somalis have proved to be unlike other societies, a great deal of importance is attached to the latter whereas the former becomes merely ceremonial. The contrary is found to be the case in societies with developed nation state body politik and discourse. Now, that being the case, is it any wonder to see you dipping your lips in “xamuurad†squirting soiled particles towards any who dares speak in favour of the TFG as you lambaste them as being lackeys to the inaYusuf camp? Pitiful it is, would you not agree, to keep hearing Col. Hebel, Prof. Hebel, Sheekh Hebel, Dr. Hebel, majority of which, mind you, possess not literal stock of the arrogated profession, being regurgitated as if out of fashion. And most peculiar of it all is that the younger débutantes of both genders in the Diaspora (one would have thought they would be wiser) are the worst...O’ Dear and a big one at that! Or you'd rather I joined the “Ethiopia is here†hysteria and drum rolling camp lead by none other than our dear Horn who, I understand can’t get a wink of sleep these days, lest “Ethiopia†pulverises whilst sleep whatever hope he had of installing Hiiraale & Goobaale as the last standing leaders of Jubbaland . No? As for the Mogadishu Islamic Courts (I qualify it for Banadir is their stronghold, albeit lay claim to the rest of the country), true I amongst many who observe the political goings in Somalia envisaged not the sudden emergence of the courts as a political force (economic force, yes throughout Somalia) which they appear to have become overnight, hence wish to suspend any judgment, for at this moment I do not have material information to form an informed opinion upon them. Now, tell me old boy, when could one expect Riyaale and Co to arrive Baidoa Janaay? Or would they rather be received at Vila Somalia? Not sure, Riyaale, a junior personnel then, ever set foot inside the then Presidential Palace? Or has he? Tata...
  19. Xiinooow – “ha ku digane, ka daa†our brothers from the Western Somaliland are not liking one bit as to how things are panning out in that far, far away godforsaken place called “Italian Somalilandâ€! Hornooow … I see you have been lamenting lately deep in late sessions of rosary consulting, but be as it may, break or not, tomorrow we shall live, and see we shall indeed as to where it all ends. Tata...
  20. Ayuubow – our brothers in the Banadir region have a saying “indhihii dhiman waayo, geel dhalaayana waa ku tusaan.†Qanyare, Qaybdiid, M Dheere and Co jetting in and out of Baidoa jettisoning their age-old decree is most peculiar even to the most ardent of proponents of the TFG. At this rate, one would neither be surprised to witness the Samatar brothers in Baidoa queuing up for rations, access and privilege pretty soon… By the way, when could one expect Riyaale and Co to arrive Baidoa Janaay? Has anyone heard of the political slapstick, humorist Xaayow? I must admit his comic has been missed of late. Ooyoo, the TFG’s bandwagon is not one that readily jilts, if you catch my drift. Tata…
  21. Though the self-serving Samatar brothers qualify not for due accolade, they seem to have scored a whopper of goal against the hardliners in Western Somaliland. Let us see what their comeback might be before their congregation in D.C by September of 06.
  22. Most incomprehensibe... inaYusuf's reception of the former Mogadishu political leaders and their invitation to Baidoa is by far the most bizzaaaaare act of all. I wish to hear how hard core proponents of the TFG would explain this one!
  23. MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Somalia's Islamist militia briefly fought government forces on Saturday -- the first clash between the two sides and one that many Somalis fear may signal a slide to war in the Horn of Africa country. Government militia seized and set on fire two "technicals" -- heavily armed pickup trucks that are Somalia's version of tanks -- in fighting in the remote Qoryooley district, an Islamist source told Reuters. There was no word on any casualties in the clash, the first since Islamists captured Mogadishu from warlords on June 5, challenging the slim authority of President Abdullahi Yusuf's Western-backed government. Witnesses said government forces brought one of the Islamists' battlewagons back to Baidoa, the government's provincial base, bolstered by the reported deployment of Ethiopian troops across the border in recent days. Diplomats fear Somalia is on the verge of major conflict after the newly powerful Islamists moved closer to Baidoa this week and quit talks with the government on Saturday, dashing hopes of a quick diplomatic breakthrough. "We do not negotiate with a government which is being helped by the enemy of Somalia," senior Islamist leader Sheikh Sharif Ahmed said in a letter to Islamist delegates to the talks, in a reference to Ethiopia. The Islamist leadership, vowing holy war, has called on Somalia's 10 million people to prepare to fight against the foreign troops, while Addis Ababa threatened to crush any attack on the Somali government. Despite Ethiopia's repeated denials of reports that it has sent troops into Somalia, residents and aid workers in the southwestern town of Wajid said Ethiopian soldiers seized the airport overnight from gunmen working for the local authorities. Two helicopters carrying Ethiopian troops landed at the airport on Saturday afternoon, they said. "Ethiopian military have been landing at the airport," said one Wajid resident, who did not want to be named. MILITARY MOVES Traditionally Christian Ethiopia fears a hardline Muslim state on its doorstep and possible Islamist aspirations to create a "Greater Somalia" that would incorporate Ethiopia's southeastern, ethnically Somali, ****** region. Analysts believe Ethiopia, the Horn's dominant power, has sent up to 5,000 troops into Somalia, and is massing more on the border to deter Islamist advances. A source close to Somali government leaders admitted the presence of Ethiopian troops on Somali soil. "They are there, but not in the big numbers people are saying. But believe me, if the Islamists attack, they will come," said the source, who did not wish to be named. "Our national army is not set up yet, and they have many militias, so we need assistance." Several residents of Baidoa said more Ethiopian troops and armoured vehicles arrived overnight to guard the parliament, presidential palace and airport. "The Ethiopian troops have changed their uniforms and are now wearing the same clothes as the Somali government soldiers," said former militiaman and Baidoa resident Abdirizak Adan. The government imposed a curfew on Baidoa three days ago, he added. More than 50 of the Islamists' pickup trucks mounted with heavy weapons left Mogadishu, and after being joined by Eritrean and Ethiopian rebel forces were heading for Baidoa and Buur Hakaba, a town 60 kms (37 miles) away, residents said. The reported movements could not be independently verified. Analysts say possible Eritrean involvement may be driven by poor relations with Addis Ababa, deadlocked over an unresolved border dispute. In a May report, the United Nations accused Asmara of funnelling arms to the Somali Islamists during their rise to power -- a charge Eritrea denies. (Additional reporting by Mohammed Abbas in Khartoum) Source
  24. Waar bal naftan yare asqaysan eega? Waar ma kuwii ciidda cuni jiray baad ka joogtaa? "The Somali people are united now behind the Islamic Courts" What if one shares neither Islam nor Somalinimo? "heroic Islamic Spirit" Then what?
  25. Aaah... Horn, The champion of Camelot, The Spartan warrior still at it, eh? Never you shed the teary, weary rugs, or be true to your Gospel. As for inaYusuf, to the contrary mate, the game is being played right into his hands, and rather nicely if consider the players, the chips being served, and the stakes at each hand, but that is not the reality of the forlorn in the diaspora, is it mate? But, you would not know that, would you? Anything that treks past your shadowy epitome is sunken. No? “Somalinimo†say you? What is that? - your newly found defense card in cell 13 [beware the butchy ones], or perhaps the equivalent of the race card in black America served in high society gents in lieu of toiletries? Only you would play such a card in despair, in ache, and in lust for corpses’ fillings when all else befuddles, albeit no such being abound. Bedevil thy compleo or is it parvulus?
