I have found out that our people consider panic attacks, seizures and any brief loss of consciousness as possession of jin.. its normal for teenage girls to have panic attacks, hypoglycemia or forgetting take breakfast at morning can cause brief loss of consciousness...remember that many somalis are sickle cell trait, which means they are prone to attacks of syncope when entrapped very crowded environment (classroom, kitchen, etc) --places where jin happens to attack most.. also woman in child-bearing age are susceptible to anemia(25%) due to heavy menstrual bleeding, Anemia can present as dizziness and loss of consciousness.. The reasons go on and on......the point is , next time you see people around someone in jin attack, make sure its medical condition first. simple hysteria? I remember a certain girl who used to collapse every time she saw a certain cousin she had a crush on. The poor thing could not say a thing and we didn't know what was going on....till a little bird told us...

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL you guys are so slow, ma istidhi? More importantly, the purpose of education in Islam (atheists don't bash me here) is to make one more pious/Allah-fearing... Me thinks you are too harsh on our people; we have many things wrong with our society but cut us some slack; we sure do have lots of honest and hardworking folk as well...AND dare I say, lots of real PHDs...

  7. Lol. I thought you were starting a thread for a professional network of sorts following the SOL Shir...
  8. Alfie, good speech. For a SOL virgin like meself, I;d like to know several things or your take one them: 1. what are these golden rules? A simple link will do 2. who are these great peeps who have left SOL and why do you think they have? you talk of a void, humour me mate...give me a "before the great peeps left" and "an after they left" scenario, paint me a mental picture... 3. which are these registration restrictions? 4. shouldn't a shir be held under a qudhac tree? in which case what's with the ties and seats, etc 5. what are the terms of reference of the shir if you have elected to mordernized it and decided to hold it at the Mansuur? 6. what's your role in the shir? chairman? session chair? note-taker? not clear  You can use these questions as the target of your next address.

The crazy cousin is just that, crazy. You don't know the USC of Kenya? Think . Yes, they're Oba's lot, crazy I know. I used to think they weren't even Somali when I was young Kkk you are so funny and no they are not Oba's lot. The only true HAGs in Kenya are the OOTS (One-Of-The-Sheikhs) and /Fruit-lovers in Mandera... are pure Somali and go straight to Gardheere Samaale (one of the 9 Samaale sons) for your edification and education...What you've heard is a loose association with HAG just like the Grave-peeps/... Oba don't kill me, am just following the genealogies/abtirsinyo as they are...
  10. Haatu;918722 wrote: You better find that. There's no way you're gonna tell me such a vid exists without posting it. Ok abti I remember bookmarking it in one of my computers, now you have given me a homework for the next few days lol. Will "leave no stone unturned" in this quest, as your Kenyan politicians like saying!
  11. Haatu;918623 wrote: Heh @the secessionist worm and the cuqdad-filled buglander Kenya just simply wants to steal Somali's seas. After the bogus MoU was nullified, then tried to steal the seas using the Roadmap. C/weli was smart enough to remove that clause from the roadmap and what we sea today is just another attempt by them to get their hands on those waters. Kudos to Marwo Fawsiyo for her historic stand. abti I thought you were a mark-a-bull; what's this about a usc kenya clan i've never heard of?
  12. @Carafaat - great and timely thread. Attaboy! There was an excellent documentary by the grandson of Richard Burton retracing the steps of the old man from Seylac to Harar, can't seem to find it.

  17. Swahili songs are full of sarbeeb - what you hear is not what they are actually saying. Take this song for instance "Hilo Dege" - that bird... walimwengu wanasema/maneno yaso maana wanasema kuna dege/lenye kifua cha zege umbile lake ni zuri/lenye haiba ya mke lakini linavofanya/ni aibu kwa waume waweza jua shababi/kumbe joka la kibisa Human beings say/meaningless things they say there is a bird/with a tough[concete-like] chest beautiful of bearing/beautiful to men's eyes but what the bird does/is shameful to men [to fathom] you might think it is a youthful [shabaab]/but it is wide open like a giant snake Translation thanks to sister-in-law!

Such as learning how to set a guri soomali, learn how to make a dhiil, and other traditional stuff, like the ones they sew and which is used on top/inside the guriga. I'd also like to see and learn more about somali plants and their diversity, especially those used as an alternative medicine. Not to forget to experience walking through the night/late evening to watch somali folklore dances... Most medicinal plants in Somalia are of the Boswelia genus, all the habags/gums and resins are from these trees.
