  1. It could be the end of an era in a few years. Erdogan must prepare for the next generation of AKP to win the next election. This is a prelude of the what is coming next. Yildirim was an old guard against the young Imamoglu.
  2. Well, we don't know how to play these sophisticated games. Our hope is if these thing drags on few years, and Somalia proper rises up again, then we may have a hope of deciding our destiny. Amhara are everywhere including probably 80% of the diaspora , and will be difficult to sideline them. I see Abiy bringing back the TPLF to crush the Amhara. In Ethiopia the TPLF is the a tough nomad like us , but better organized than anyone else.
  3. OO, it is totally different when you hear it from Radio Mogadishu. I remember visiting Djibouti when I was young high school boy, and my maternal cousins were listening a song by the blind singer Ahmadey Abubaker at the Radio. Some of the lyrics were: Webigii Shabeeliyo Jubba aan wareeyste I still remember to this day that the young lady who was my maternal cousin say, " Waxaan ku fikiraa goormaad webiga shabeeli arki doontaa" It was a powerful and moving experience listening from the radio. Now it is all there for free and it doesn't have the same value.
  4. This general with Shia style loyal special forces was threat to both Oromo and TPLF. Whether this was a real coup that was aborted or Amhara radicals eliminating their enemies, it's impact will affect Ethiopia deeply. Abiy Ahmed might have got an Erdogan style God sent opportunity to crush his enemies once for all.The TPLF doesn't mind giving him a helping to sideline the Amhara.
  5. Exactly. That yearning is talked openly by Amhara and others. They want unitarian Ethiopia enforced by force. That train is left but the yearning is there, just like some Somalis are nostalgic of the past glories
  6. Che, Certainly you might win that bet earlier than we think. It is a new chaos. By the way, it did happen before. in the seventies, there were plots, assassinations and coups before Mengistu showed up and killed everyone. General Aman Andom of Eritrean descent was hesitant, Tafari Bante of Oromo was just like Abiy dithering and indecisive , and finally ruthless Mengistu came and killed everyone including the president. Mustafe Cagjar should consult other Somalis and plan for the future . This could be Yugoslavia part 2.
  7. I think the country is different today, and i do believe federalism will stay. We have to wait and see how the constitution is implemented and the regions are realigned.
  8. Since last week when the TPLF chief declared his intention to leave Ethiopia, there were stumbles in Addis. Everyone knew that the Amhara region was building capacity to confront the Tigray region. There were skirmishes and real battles between their borders for the last few months. The Amhara were decimated in every confrontation at the border. Technically , nations with their own armies are forming within Ethiopia. Maybe Somalis should revive their Liyuu police and paramilitary forces like everyone else. The Amhara might never accept to be subordinates of Oromo or anyone else, but they are not stupid. If they were plotting a coup it would have happened in Addis, and might have even used Tigray and others. This assassinations and plots which are not a coup will keep the TPLF inside Ethiopia for the moment and the elimination and purging will shift to the Amhara side. Well done TPLF. I knew Tigray wouldn't leave Ethiopia so quickly. Before the TPLF leaves Ethiopia, they have destroy it for good. If they leave now they would be blockaded and landlocked with Eritrea on the same Ethiopian side. The Tigray will leave when their relations with Eritrea gets better and Ethiopia enters chaos. Well done TPLF.
  9. According to Ethiopian bloggers this could be a plot to eliminate enemies not a coup. The general accused of the coup Asaminew Tsige had spoken few days ago on the commencement speech of 5000 Amhara region special force graduates. His popularity was sky high due to his constant threatening of Tigray. Why would he risk all while he is a rising star among the Amhara. He was arrested in 2009 by Melez and was accused of planning a coup. He was nine years in gail and was released by Abiy government last year and became chief security of the Amhara region. Unlike the early reports of fire at the Ethiopian military command, the Ethiopian Chief of Staff , and former Tigray general visiting him were killed in his home by his bodyguards. If there is no any coup activity in Addis, I do not see why would anyone would overthrow a regional government while the federal army could intervene quickly. Also there were reports about the accused general seeking the media telling them that there were no coup in the Amhara region. The hit squad entered the meeting room and shot the president, his adviser, the attorney general and others immediately. Coup plotters usually keep the leaders alive in the early stages for many obvious reasons. The Tigray regional president and their media in the diaspora had campaigned against the Amhara regional leaders for inciting hatred and displacement of Tigray people. This could be the Tigray hir squad eliminating their enemies within the Amhara region and killing a Tigray Army Chief whom they consider traitor. This might not be a coup but the Tigray purging their enemies and making the Amhara the new target of Abiy Ahmed. Either Abiy was on board and agreed the plots of TPLF in order to keep them inside country and sideline the agitating Amhara, or the TPLF is sending signals to show their deep state powers. Coups do not happen in regional towns. this is probably a false flag by TPLF. Now the TPLF can breath and watch while others fight. The TPLF president announced last week that if things do not change , especially the Amhara regional leaders, he might leave Ethiopia for good. Rug cadaagii soo rogaal celi ayey arintu u eegtahay.
  10. I do not understand how taking over of a kilil by force would help Amhara opposition, unless they were preparing to rake over the whole country simultaneously.
  11. There is no clear cutting of forest and trees in Dhahar. Most Somali landscape and mountains are bare of any tree these days, all were used for firewood. If a family got 20 goats they should be comfortable. They could sell one every few months while selling also the milk.
  12. The Army Chief of Staff is Tigray guy. Maybe some of the Amhara are allying themselves with the TPlf. This is dangerous. Che, Please keep the the updates
  13. Che, The federal thing will stay but, probably in different form. You have seen the Hiiraan people who do not want to be lumped together with a town , jowhar , just 90km from MOgadishu. Delegation of power means people managing their affaires locally. If Gedo, Awdal, Sool and Hiiraan want to be their own regions, no one has the right to deny them.
  14. People would say, why there are no great composers of Somali art these days? Well, people use their imagination to aspire something bigger than themselves like: faith, freedom, country , and somethimes for love and companionship of the other half. You can't create a poem or song for the stupid tribe. That is why we saying , " dad waa dadkii hore hadalna waa intii uu yidhi" When the old somali artists were even singing for love, they will throw the love of the land in the mix. Here Baxsan and Samatar: throwing Xornimaa loo halgamaay... It has been cold and raining for the whole week, and finally we got some sunny afternoon. Enjoy the song composed by our fathers.
  15. Unlike Farmaajo and Khayre, I am from the school of thought that explains the Somali issue in clear simple terms that says, " Somalia collapsed, every tribe made their own rules and the country exists only in name". So, regardless of their names , I am going to reach the borders and bring the country back. In your tribal enclaves, you can elect your own warlords, tribal chuvanists, thieves and criminals, and so called Mujaahids, but you will not stop me reaching and controlling the air , sea and land crossings. I am marching just like general Sherman marched to the coast, and if you are on my way, May God help you . The usual suspects would say, where would this hallucinating fellow will get his army to do the job? I always believed that freedom, independence and sovereignty could only be gained through real sacrifices. Which means every single one us of paying a real price. If you go to Somlia Online archives, You could find an article I wrote in 2018 about the denise of the TPLF . I did made some correlation between the exit of the TPLF from Ethiopian power and the future of the Somali regional governments. I said , " Since the mother of the Somali regional government, the TPLF, died, no one will be helping the orphans the Tigray left behind. I even bragged about coming home and slaying these orphans including the mother of the regional government --Puntalnd. I said: Dhagdheer Dhimatoo Dhulkii waa nabad. Well, that is me. Anyway, killing all the orphans might not be a good idea after all, some might survive, especially --Puntalnd. Now this duo , Farmaajo and Khayre have their own plans which is probably more sophisticated than most of us. They have taken over of the regional governments without army or even firing one bullet. Since these regional leaders can't run to Mama Ethiopia to save themselves , some had tried to find and run to another new surrogate mother in Nairobi with no success. Xaaf is finished. The dysfunctional Galmudug , led by the octogenarian Xaaf had reached the end of the line. He was already expelled from Cadaado, the natural and the most peaceful and vibrant city in Galmudug. He is the guest of honor of the evil group called Ehlu Sunna Wal Jamcaac ( I call them Ehlu Shaytaan). The federal minister of the interior has landed in Dhuusamareeb overriding the objection of Xaaf. The latest news is that the election to replace Xaaf and elect a new leader will be held in July in Cadaado. The former chief of Somali armed forces general C/weli Jamac Gorod will be the man expected to win. He is sponsored by the government. Yet, the anarchist Ehlu Sunna is still lurking in the wings. While no one is glad about using federal resources for bribes or interference of the regional governments, at least it is better than using guns and soldiers to get the desired outcome. Xaaf is gone Madoobe to follow. The latest news in Jubbaland affair is that the election will be held under the guidance of Amisom forces , especially the Ethiopian contingent in KIsmaayo. It will be held at the hanger in the Kismaayo airport. I do not know how the airport would accommodate a large number of delegates , but that is the latest news from Mogadishu. The current federal minister of aviation Mohamed Abdilahi Oomar from Jubbaland will be the government candidate to replace Madoobe. Analysts believe Oomar will win a landslide victory. Hirshabeele out of control. Mr, Waare, the current president of Hirshabelle is a lame duck leader who spends most of his days in Mogadishu. When the Garoowe regional conference was held he couldn't choose any side. In fact, he told the Puntalnd leaders that the only reason has has good terms with the federal government is that his administration was getting a half million dollars a month of direct payments from the federal government to his administration. Compared to others , he is probably the weakest among the regional leaders. If he can't even control the insecurity issue in his native Hiiraan --who would prefer their own regions than share with Jowhar--he will be history soon. Cabdulaahi Deni of Punralnd should tread carefully and not ally himself with these sinking ships in Galmudug, Jubba and Hir-Shabelle or else. I know he is broke and he is trying to bring some badly needed investment to Puntalnd, but he should be careful with whom he breaks bread with. Last time time when Deni visited Addis, he was told to register his protest against the government as we wishes but not aggravate issues. Since Deni is Reer Bari, who plays them game quitely and diplomatically , he will probably ditch the sinking leaders and mind his own shop. Actually, a high ranking puntland official in town told me that both Khayre and Farmaajo do not believe the federal thing at all . He said when they came to Garoowe in May with orders of the international community, they never agreed on anything. He said both Xaaf and Madoobe said, " how can we believe anything these two guys say, after all, they are trying to replace us." When I asked him about the agenda of the conference, he said , " there were none, It took four days to figure out the agenda, and at the end nothing was agreed", he continued, " When you ask them something to either accept or reject, they will say , we are thinking about it and get back to you"( Waar dad Burco Jooga oo Farmaajo ii geeya leh ayuu arkay, markaa Federaalka waxa uu arkaa Isbaaro dhexda loo dhigtay). Here you go guys. Certainly these two have cornered the regional leaders. In Puntalnd election, their guy had failed,, but they tried thgeir luck. I asked him about the rumored quarrel between Khayre and Farmaajo, and he said, " There might be some small issues, but these two guys are a team who are sending wrong signals to the media. Well, if this gentleman is correct, you have got two guys who do not believe the so called federal thing at all, yet are not saying anything against the formula publicly. They can gage and feel that the public is yearning for leadership and national government , and most are willing to forfeit the federal thing if they are serious about bringing the national government. finally I asked him about the end game of Farmaajo and Khayre . Since the security issues are still pending and unresolved why spend so much energy on these battles with the regional governments?. He said, " They are gumbelling everything on the regional government and hoping to get elected a second term and finish these other issues later, yet, what they do not understand is that the members of the future parliament will be elected by the regions and no one can predict how they will be going to vote" , he continued, " If they fail to get elected while neglecting all this major issues and dismantling the federal system, it will be a huge issue Kenya on the ropes. The scramble for Somalia oil is in high gear. The former holders of Somalia exploration and extraction contacts singed in nineteen eighties had just showed up now after the Somali parliament passed the petroleum rules. ExxonMobil and Shell just came to Somalia to reclaim their old contract and met the government ministers. They want to have a piece of the action in the Indian Ocean. The Kenyan foreign minister just came back from Djibouti apparently to complain about the Somali maritime dispute with Omar Ghelleh. According to Djibouti insiders Ghelleh had told the Kenyan minister that both the sea and land borders separating most countries in Africa are colonial boundaries and can't be changed by the African countries. He also told them that there never was any dispute with Somalia with successive governments for the last fifty years, why now?. In other words , the Kenyans were taught a lesson about these disputes. In fact, if they want to disregard the colonial boundaries of 1960 then everything should be on the table including the occupied territory of NFD. Socdaalkaygu waa meel Sahaydaydu waa dacar Sohdintaydu waa caan Nin isiaray ma nabad gelo Nin I sugayna maba Jiro Libitaa weli ma siidayn Gardarada Ma saacido Nin xaqlina Cidi lama simo Somnali baan ahay. THe Kenyans are becoming amateurs in managing complicated world affaires. As we speak they are suing even their old patron U.K at the security council. So far Somalia hasn't retaliated in any shape or form. Now they are begging Omar Ghelleh to bail them out , but that is impossible. Neither Abiy of Ethiopia nor Eritrea could help them in these diplomatic tussle. Soon after the election of Jubbaland the Qat ban might follow. Lately the Kenyans were trying to diversify and find new markets for their Qat . The problem is that other than Somalis or Yemenis to some extent, there are no other markets for these drugs. This drug is specifically cultivated for Somalia and Somalis only. They could bring some to Puntalnd and Somaliland by air, but Somaliland can't risk undermining the Ethiopian Qat imports and other products from the Oromia region. Somalia 2 Kenya 0. Finally , we can all say that Somalia got a government that could compete at the world stage. Isn't this a victory we can all celebrate after almost 30 years? I think so. .
  16. Where are the diaspora boys and girls. Please learn the Somali language from this brilliant girl.I haven't even heard those words since long time ago. "Jaamacaduhu waa kalka ay tahay in aynu ku daadini iniinyaha falsafadadeed, nololeed iyo qiyam ee aynu rabno in aynu beritoole gurano". There are so many bright Somali young men and women buried under outdated corrupt system that denies creativity and imagination.
  17. Houston is the capital of oil business in North America. Offshore drilling needs rigs and oil tankers taking the crude right there. Latest i heard is that by 2020 drilling will start. Waynu cashayn baan u malaynayaaye ha la is diyaariyo.
  18. The Amhara are the last group to overthrow a regional government. With Addis and federal government nearby, it is difficult to make a coup and stay in power. In my opinion, this was a coup heading Addis halted in its tracks in Bahir Dar or war between Amhara officers purging one another.
  19. What are these treacherous Brits are up to? They never build one kilometer of road and hospital, but keep talking about RRU and weapons.
  20. C/weli has done some infrastructure works (airports and roads) but the expectation was higher for him than others for obvious reasons. One thing he didn't improve was financial management and institutional building. He also had to deal the entrached Faroole mafia that made his job difficult. Deni is moving well , but time will tell. Insiders are saying That he is very much beholden to the Faroole mafia who run the finance and even his office. As long as he is rewarding certain people without merit , he might not go far. I heard that he will be shuffling the cabinet soon. Most of the cabinet could have been picked up elders. I know for sure one member who was hired through his elder. IN Somaliland Muuse might be arrogant, but no elder would pick his cabinet.

  22. Awdal is represented among the weakest people in our community. Doqmaha ayay soo xushaan. Look at the commerce minister, he accusing the locals for not doing enough. He is one of the worst we have seen so far. qaar lacagta la idinka qaado qaybtiina doonta. Gaaska cagafta anagaa idinku shubaynee.
