  1. Saalax, Why not this Colonel Caare declare State of Sanaag?. Ahmed Madoobe controls one city with the help of Kenya. In Hiiraan they only control Beledweyne with help of Amisom, Baydhabo the same thinbg and son. Al least Caare has the port of Maydh, mountains and a land free of Al-shabaab.If he captures Ceerigaabo he has his state. Waar ninka la taliya. I was talking a member of WAddani party today and he told me that , ' Muuse is an angry rebel who doesn't even see things like normal people'. Imagine , he said, ' Sanaag and GX elders brought him the best deal possible to just give amnesty to Caare and company , yet, he chose to ignore the hard work of these men and refused'. Ma ninka lagu yidhi hawsha iska dhamaysrir oo cafis bixi ee dagaal ka doorbiday. Wallee cirkuu roob ku ogyahay.
  2. Che, Walaahi there is large Puntalnd community in Borama not only students but families. There are families from Galgaduud and Gedo who settled since 2007. There are Reer Baydhabo and people from Mogadishu. You can not find a house to rent. Reer Sool even moved from the diaspora to settle there. There are people who moved literally from the diaspora and settled there. These are middle class people with disposal income. Let me go over drive and say, Somalis really like us. There is a genuine love and respect between us. Too bad we don't have politicians who use that card and run for it. Maybe C/raxman Bayle will run after Farmaajo. And one more thing: no one will ever ask you in Borama , Qolomaa Tahay?
  3. I can assure that this was set up by Muuse Biixi and company. I told you last time about the so called Jabhad in Awdal which was nowhere to be found. If there is an armed group in Awdal, it will start in the coastal area where Ina Kaahin is cooking conflict among the Awdal neighbors. THe locals are ready to confront any eventuality. Here is how the coming conflict in the coastal Awdal is unfolding. A man sleeping in his farm close to the Ethiopian border was shot by unknown gunmen. A government delegation went there and without trying to capture the killer, the local elders were told to take blood money, but they refused demanding the capture of the killer and his associates. The corrupt Ina Cali Koore from Laascaanood who was leading the delegation, threatened the elders and few days latter he arrested the elders who were the victims relatives. A weak after that conflict the governor of Awdal called the military and asked to destroy and disband the locals who started farming in the coastal area of Gargaara claiming the farms are in disputed area and accused locals of being armed. The Army led by a man from Ahmed Dhagax district (Ina Godane clan) went there and saw no armed people but poor farmers working in their farms. Furthermore, he could not find anyone from the Djibouti community who were there to dispute or confront these people. There was no Jabhad. Sarkaalkii Waxa uu yidhi waar meesha dad dan yar ah oo beera falanaya ayaan ugu tagay. Sobob loo barakiviyo oo beeraha lloga gubana ma garanayo, meel u dhawna ciidankiisii ayuu fadhiisiyey. Even Nuus Taani , the army commander asked Ina Kaahin not put the army in these tribal issues and instead use local police. The war mongering governor called the Djibouti community and asked where were you guys? you supposed to get weapons and complain. He stayed in the town of Gargaara for five days, Finally he left and asked three or four elders who were airlifted from Djibouti and asked to hold a press conference with horn cable. The Awdal locals were shocked how could a government who supposed to keep the peace is sawing conflict among the locals just like in Ceel Af Weyn. Everyone I talked to tells me that this police station attack was carried by Ina Kaahin and their people. I know Awdal very well, no one in their mind will attack Borama. At the moment , there is no armed group in Awdal or at the border. Since this town is attracting tens of thousands of Somalis from Mudug, Boosaaso, Benadir, Bay and Somalis from diaspora, the SNM boys want to make Borama unsave for those who are choosing over Burco and Hargeisa. Here in this town, I have met families from South Somalia who first went to Hargeisa for residence but quickly left for Borama after facing discrimination and name calling. The SNM boya are all complaining how this town is getting bigger and becoming the third largest city in Somalia. Anyway, people are saying that their main reason in the coastal issue is to disrupt and block the planned road from Loyacado to Borama and make the area a conflict zone. Another major issue is also how can Omar Ghelle justify the eight members of his community in the Somali parliament while only having one single one in Somaliland. Ilaahay ninkuu wax la rabo meel kale ayiuu wax ka helaa. The Sagar Cyclone that hit the Awdal coastal region two years ago has changed the whole coast. Locals say that it rained non stop for 48 consecutive hours and made big damage to roads and houses. Yet, in a pleasing manner, it brought fresh soil from the mountains and made the plains ready for farming; unexpected water came out from new creeks close to formerly dry area. In other words the cyclone changed the whole coastal landscape and made the dry land arable land that was ready to cultivate.. The poor nomads started farming in their own backyard where they used to keep their goats. While already the population is 80% Awdalites, these new farms will make the locals imbile residents. The Hargeisa boys are getting a contract probably from Cumar Gheele and want to create a new conflict. Yet, most of those carrying out the action are from East Burco guys who are known are probably hungry for cash. I am warning the SNM boys not wreck the boat and create a new conflict in the west while the one in the east is burning. Waar hooy colka Joojiya oo ummada dab ha iskugu dhiibina.
  4. If Biixi doesn't shuffle the cabinet or do some serious changes especially the interior minister ,Ina Kaahin , things could get ugly. They keep manufacturing problems in the east and the west.
  5. Maakhiri, Give Deni some slack , No one ever asked Faroole or Cabdi Weli these kind of questions in public. Yet I see some fear in the tone of the president. Maybe the Hyenas and Aranjaan are circling the wagon.
  6. I agree on that. But never seen anyone interviewed this way.
  7. OO, that is a good point. If Illey were here Amhara wouldn't raising their head here in the Somali KIlil. To bad , If Illey measured his abuse of his own people , the people would be with him today. While Ethiopia is debating about federal system and regional autonomy the Somali Kilil is quite. No one is even paying attention for what we want. I worry about Oromo because if they are defeated by the empire our chances of being free will be even slim. Who ever comes as a leader is serving Addis and himself. Here the ONLF chairman calling for unity and name change. Some people I talked to told me the admiral to be a national figure who is nor tribal despite his clans rebels.
  8. The is some of the mistakes. Yet, if the Oromo do not confront Abiy now their revolution will be dead just like the Egypt where Sisi hijacked. They should think beyond Abiy and dismantle the old empire. It has to be a new Ethiopia and the only way is to slay the old one.
  9. Is this Cabdullahi Deni guy needs babysitting from Faroole from time to time?. When will Faroole retire.
  10. In early this year, when I was in Addis Ababa , I had met some Oromo businessmen who were related through marriage with one of my neighbors here in Canada. Since I was travelling light, they asked me to do a favour and take a huge bag with full of clothes, smartphones and some electronics. During our discussions about Abiy, Lema Magrassa and Jawar Mohamed, I asked them how the Oromo leaders would co exist especially, the OLF rebels who just came from Eritrea and feel marginalized despite their armed struggle. In fact , in those days the Ethiopian air force had bombed positions held by OLf in Wallega. They all agreed that at the moment they all support Abiy and his reforms. Since they were businessmen who would thrive through peace, they showed some distress and fear about the OLF rebels. They also considered the OLF leadership who were based in JIma, Wallega zone, which is far western part of the Oromia as outsiders who might wreck the boat. Yet, looking back, when I pushed them about the the future role of Jawar , they all repeated the same thing saying that all the current leaders including Lema, Jawar and Abiy were working for the same cause inside and outside. While Jawar was pushing the Queero youth from outside, Abiy and Lema were working from inside , was the the typical statement repeated by almost everyone. It reminded me of Somaliland where every Faarah and Cali claims to be working for the rebel cause during the military regime of Somalia. Imagine , people like Cali Waran Cade, who was the intelligence service working for Siyaad Barre until the last days, claiming now to be working from inside for the rebel cause while real witnesses put him right there at the office of the president pouring coffee for siyaad Barre just days before the collapse. Any way, while Lema, the former Oromia president allowed the Oromo youth to continue their demonstrations in order to be on the side of the people, at the end he or the TPLF were unable to crush and kill millions of people who were looking for freedom. Jawar pushed and succeeded by enforcing a crippling strike shutting down the whole country . He had two million facebook followers which means almost every Oromo house hold within the country. Almost all of Ethiopia's trade, import and export that comes from Djibouti and Kenya had to go through Oromo heartland, especially the Dire dhaba to Addis corridor were the populations is concentrated .THe strikes affected fuel trucks, goods and industry. Furthermore, almost all of the food production of Ethiopia is cultivated by the eglaterian and hard working Oromo. The lazy Amhara who never does an honest day of work like most Somalis, would starve without the Oromo food. In fact, even Hargeisa might feel the pinch if all those fruit and vegetable from Hawaday stop coming. How can you control 50 million people who want break the yokes of the northern minority who doesn't even live most of the land in the south , west and east of Addis which is 70% of the population. You have more Oromo people in the 100km Addis surrounding belt and countryside than combined population of Tigray and Eritrea. . Tens of thousands were arrested through emergency measures while thousands were killed by live bullets of the army. At the end the EPRDP ruling coalition must either bring down the whole country to stay in power and kill millions, or give way to the people's revolution led by Jawar and the Oromo youth. Yet, Rather than give power back to the people and make a real change, the EPRDF tried to buy time and crown one of their own. For the Amhara and Tigray highlanders, Abiy Ahmed was the perfect Oromo to keep the system running and keeping power to themselves. Certainly Abiy didn't follow their plans or disappoint by trying to change the system from within and give the people some freedom to express their feelings. He shaked down the TPLF, eliminated their big business oligarchs and government run corporations which they used to loot the public purse, and eventually reduce their influence from the federal scenes although their power is still intact within their Tigray stronghold. Yet, the TPLF were not the real target of the revolution for the long term. Of course Abiy Ahmed is trying to be the leader and the prime minister of everyone regardless of their ethnic origin which is what leaders should do. His reforms and the changes in foreign policy with the Ethiopian neighbors including Eritrea and Somalia, has brought him accolades around the world which eventually resulted in winning the Nobel Peace Prize. These achievements might have led Abiy to think as the dear leader who must rule without the consent of the people. Abiy must understand that having being selected by the communist style one party state of the EPRDF is not substitute for real legitimacy from the Ethiopian people. The EPRDF is undemocratic and authoritarian dictatorship tailor made for the Ethiopian highlanders and their Amhara centred Oromo. In fact four major regions of Ethiopia--Somali, Afar, Gambella and Benshaguli-Gomez --are not part of the ruling coalition , while the Amharazed and elite dominated Southern Nations is in the coalition. If Abiy thinks he can rule Ethiopia without elected mandate from the people he is mistaken. The Oromo revolution wasn't fought for one man to be a dictator through purges while consolidating power slowly at the expense of the Oromo revolutionary . In fact, the EPRDF , with its history human right abuse should not be even ruling Ethiopia after the Oromo revolution. The Oromo people and we the Somalis, Afar, Gambela, and others would not accept a crypto Amhara prime minister who is working hard to resurrect the awful legacy of the old Ethiopian imperial time. Didn't he see the monuments inside Oromia depicting women's breast being cut by Menelik?. Did he forget the 500 year oppression of Oromo by the Amhara led empire ?. While millions are displaced and need for housing is dire in Ethiopia, he spent $170 million dollars to renovate and make museum for the old dwellings of Amhra despotic kings which has nothing to do with the new Ethiopia of today. Furthermore, he never got the message of decolonization that was going on inside Ethiopia and Oromia region in particular. Major towns with imperial or Amhara names were changed by Oromo. Nazret became Adama, Addis Ababa became Finfinne, Dabra Zayt just 50 km from Addis, became Bishutu and many more. The 50 million Oromo want their language to be the second or first official language of Ethiopia. In fact, their Latin alphabet which was created in Mogadishu with help of Somalis is much easier than the backward Amharic which is difficult to to use for modern science which kept Ethiopia out of the modern technologies. Go check youtube archives of famed Somali singers from Radio Mogadishu singing Afaan Oromo and other programings that led the way. In fact, the first ever Afaan Oromo broadcasting Radio were set up by the Somali state. This are what the Oromo are fighting for. Abiy implemented and changed the nationwide school system by forcing regions to start Anmaric language in grade one rather than the current system that allows children being taught with their native tongue until grade five and many more pro Amharic initiatives to resurrect the old order. We Somalis should follow the footsteps of these Oromo and erase the Amhara legacy in our region. Unfortunately we got a facebook president who admires the Amhara way of life. He increased the Amharic language programming at the regional Television, in Jigjiga and he even further and said he wants the Unitarian system promoted by Amhara. We need anti colonial leadership that would stand up to anhara and prepare the people of the Somali region for the eventual self determination. As some young guy here s in SOL alluded, we only rise up for our tribes than our national spirit. Why would Nelson Mandela and the ANC would allow a white minority to keep the power after he was freed from jail after almost 30 years. The Amhara and the Ahmarized Oromo never understood that the reason people fought wasn't about preserving Ethiopia or keeping the Amhara legacy in order for Oromo leader to be just another leader. Abiy should know neither Noble Prize nor the half measured reforms will make him legitimate unless he allows fair and free election. He should know that this was a Zulu like once in a century revolution that must change Ethiopia. There is no mistake about it that the leader of the revolution is Jawar Mohamed. He is the leader in waiting who will finally take his place in the revolution he led. If Abiy think he can arrest Jawar like a common opposition that could be dragged to the old jail like those before him , he is mistaken. Jawar should wage g his campaign peacefully and take certain measures to eventually replace Abiy Ahmed. Among them : First, The EPRDF coalition can not rule as a legitimate party after 30 years of abuse. During the soviet union, new leaders were elected by the politburo when things got bad or tough challenges arise in order to keep the power. The Oromo revolution wasn't only about removing the TPLF . The TPLF, due to their history, small number of population and geographic location, were never the real power brokers of Ethiopia or those committed of preserving the legacy of Amhara centric imperial culture. One major achievement that the TPLF should be praised for is the dismantling of the Amhara system that ruled Ethiopia for 500 years. There could never have been an Oromia state or power without Meles pouring billions to the coffers of the Oromia region and building universities and strong Oromo centric public service. The duminitive genius Meles had disbanded and dismantled Ethiopia before he even went to his grave. All what we see now is probably the hungry hyenas fighting for a dead horse. The real threat is and always has been the Amhara who were placed among every region by the king and the Derg to rule and oppress others. In Ethiopia public service people meant Amhara and even those who joined the system became Amhara regardless of their ethnic org ion. Second, after the revolution , a national unity government comprised from EPRDF and the opposition must be established to lead the country until the election. If Abiy want to keep and lead the discredited EPRDF , let him keep it and be challenged during the election. Imagine Huseen Kulmiye Afrax being crowned as the leader of USC after the collapse of Siyaad Barre and being praised for his heroic reforms? Third, opposition figures like Jawar should form their own political parties and be allowed to express their agenda to the people. This is God given right that can not be infringed by anyone. THe Amhara media who were opposing Abiy to the last man until few days ago had finally came to the other side and are demanding Abiy to crush Jawar by depicting him as mobster and anti peace . I advice Jawar to let the Amhara join and keep Abiy and contest the election as their man. I have no doubt that if this rock star prime minister keeps flirting with that gang, he will soon be run out of town and settle in Sweden or worse Asmara. The leader of the Oromo region Shimelis Addisa said that those actions against Jawar should be investigated and the government must guarantee the safety of those who came from exile. Finally, Jawar and others should remind Abiy that unless he wins an election, he is not the legitimate leader of a country, but a selected prime minister of outdated party called EPRDF. The cowardice act of the security people to sneak in the middle of the night and try to eliminate Jawar Mohamed had exposed the treachery of the Abiy government and his Amhara coalition.. AS we speak ,The death toll hit almost 70, yet the little man is hiding and saying nothing. The pro independence Somalis including the ONLF and others must prepare for anything including declaring independence. We will never allow an Amhara centric old order to rule gain the Somali nomads who should be the first to gain in any freedom. In our side, no one is rooting for the collapse of Ethiopia which is very dangerous for the region, but the fact remains that the last empire of the world should have been disbanded in 1974, 1991 or 1945 after the second world war. The Amhara would either allow the likes of Jawar Mohamed to rule or it will be the new Yugoslavia of the horn , or worse another Rwnada.
  11. Our friend OO always tries to promote dead horses like the current SPDP. Didn't they tell you that the camel symbol of that party was slayed and buried by Somalis after Iley went down . Besides, the current ruling SPDP was never a real party like the OPD, TPLF or others. They never had central committee, wise elders or respected members. Illey filled with whom he wishes and fired others like his private business WSLF is the perfect fit for all concerned. Anyway, this is a good move . No sane Somali would accept a tribal name for the national aspirations of the Somalis. When the able and eloquent ant secretary of the ONLF, Mr. Maadey came our town , I asked him exactly that question about the name. I told him the time has come to change that name and unite the people, yet he kept beating the bush. At the end he said, he didn't want to start from zero and leave the legacy of their struggle.
  12. Actually most of the looting in Ethiopia took under his watch. The TPLF sensed the end of the demise of their genius leader Meles and looted the banks under Desalegn. He was a puppet. Even Cabdi Illey said that the former intelligence chief Asafa Getachew was running the regions while the prime minister was weak. At the same time , he was the when who started the internal coup within the EPRPDP when his Souther Nations block voted doe Abiy. Having said that I really hate the tone of the holier than you attitude of the interviewer. This wasn't an interview of former statesman , but a colonial interlocutor abusing his position. I can assure that he will never ask these kind of questions about the Arab despots that employed him or other European leaders. He will not dare ask the cowardness of Tony Blair and the lies he used the wage war in Iraq or other crimes . Certainly this former prime minister is a very patient man.
  13. Except the TPLF era, Ethiopia never built things. From early thirties to 1974 before his was overthrown, Haile Salase's Ethiopia was poor and destitute without not even a major highway, electricity or major schools other than main center. Yet, one thing they are really good at is following top down government orders. They are people that keeps things within their hearts, they are not emotional people, especially the Amhara and the urban people. Also despite their differences they want to keep their country intact. The one Ethiopia sentiment is ingrained both with the farmer and the city dweller.Their hierarchy system also allows the elite to order around and oppress the poor , the peasants and the regular people . We Somalis have no class, the Kacaan eliminated the class system. Dhaqane might have a point in terms of Ethiopians being more nationalistic than the Somali nomad. During the war war and the ten year guerilla backing conflict that followed from 1977-1987 , Ethiopian anti Mengestu rebels never launched a campaign from the Somali soil. they might oppose their dictator, but will never attack them from the territory of the Somali enemy. The hungry nomad would sell the land for few pesos. Yet, despite our weaknesses and naivete , we have fiercely independent and uncontrollable culture which makes colonizing Somalis very difficult. Imagine, at the turn of the twentieth century, or after in 1885, a less developed Somali nomad had confronted colonial powers from coast to coast with great success to resist colonials. Some Wahabi new commer might say that they brought Islam to Somalia in the nineties, but the truth is we accepted Islam before it even reached Medina, Baghdad or Cairo. Visit Some time in Zaylac and see the " Qiblatain Mosque" when the Umah prayed toward Jerusalem Before they changed Makkah, just as the Qiblatain in today in Medina. Our faith , combined with our fiercely independent mind will save the day for us. Soon you will see the free Somali abandoning the shackles of the false enclaves and seek freedom and nationhood. Dhaqane, despite the corrupt politicians and the hangry nomad, the free and independent Somali will never be colonized either by Amhara or Kenya, especially those who live between Loyacado and Kismaayo. Who unlike those in NFD, brought up with the pride of being free nomad. My friend, let the poor but free nomad room the land. I do not know if you heard but the great poet and educator Muuse Galaal , in 1982, rode with the national geography reporter to the Somali countryside around Hiiraan all the way to central Somalia and the North West regions. It was during the skirmishes in Balabale where Ethiopian along the Somali rebels confronted the national army. When he asked where is your national border? he said, ' you know what, our camel is a scientist . he will travel all the way and will only stop after he encounters deep wet soil of Dolow to the west and the fertile terrain of Waamo. While other have plans to take our land, we might even have our own future plans to get back Djibouti and Kililka.
  14. These Arabs especially the Gulf and Egypt looks like nations without people with sentiments and reason. Here you have Turkey trying to keep the territorial integrity of an Arab country, Syria and settle the Arabs who are the original resident of the Furaat river area. Yet they were all condemning the Turkish move. Who are these people really?. The time has come to get out of the useless Arab league. Eritrea joined first and then Asias said " the are useless" and got out quickly. The Turks are builders and those who build life sustaining things are remembered by the people. The Syrian thing has bogged down their efforts to reach the world.
  15. I am the kind of a guy who have mostly high hopes about the future of Somalis. If neighbors and others could not destroy us when were refugees scattered around the globe , politically weak and fragmented, decimated by warlords, feeling destitute in refugee camps; now that the lion has risen from the wound , at least psychologically it will be difficult to turn the clock back and hold these semi clan conferences. We have nothing to learn from the Kurds. Unlike them we already have internationally recognized Somali states. The missing states NFD and KIlil will be managed from Mogadishu sooner or later. You are right that we the diaspora are a power to be reckoned with .We will shake world capitals with huge demonstrations and make African and Arab despots to be very careful of our affaires.
  16. They will and the real dictator waiting in the wings is none other than Lema Magrasa, the defence minister. Our boy Abiy should be very careful.
  17. I even heard from the news that Abiy was threatening the ugly Egyptian leader Sisi. He said, ""Some say things about use of force (by Egypt). It should be underlined that no force could stop Ethiopia from building a dam," he further said, ""If there is a need to go to war, we could get millions readied. If some could fire a missile, others could use bombs. But that's not in the best interest of all of us,". When Sisi took over Egypt through the bloody coup in 2013 , he signed agreement with Ethiopia in order to get their support. Now he has to walk back to appease both the military and the public. He also gave Saudi Arabia two islands in exchange for cash. Personally, I do not mind Abiy attacking the Egyptian dictator, but he should be very careful. The evil Sisi might bomb the Dam or public support and create problems for Abiy.
  18. OO please stop spreading false information. Jawar has nothing to do with Muslim Brotherhood or such thing. He is just a traditional guy. He isn't associated with any religious movement, he is secular. Che, Abiy will lose big time if he disturbs Jawar . I know the Amhara criminals are pushing him to sideline the Oromo nationalists , but if he flows, it will be his own peril. The Amhara will never give him one single vote. He better keep the Oromo vote united and ask Jawar to join the OPDO immediately. If this coming vote becomes three or four horse race Jawar would get more votes than Abiy because, the largest Oromo base is south east of Ethiopia where the revolution started. We Somalis will give our vote to Jawar. The Oromo better be smart and stop the Amhara treachery on its tracks or the Amhara will destroy them and take the power while the Oromo peasants are engulfed with civil strive. The Amhara usually agitate, but will never go civil war among themselves. They might have individual interest, but they have an overall unity that doesn't to be explained. The other day I met two Ethiopian guys and Amhara one said he was Ethiopian , but the other one said he was Oromo first. If the vote splits, the Ahmara could win. The Amhara can take their boy Cagjar we will keep Jawar.
  19. Xaaji Ina Cagjar jar ha ka tuurin. THere won't be any Amhara power in the next 10 years. THe Oromo will be ruling for the next decade. If Abiy goes down, the Lema Magrasa will take over. Yet, before Amhara achieve anything in the future, they must come out intact from these internal and external quagmire. If these Agnew people that never been in the picture, and others challenge the Amhara in their own Kilil, they will be history. Somalis should work hard toward eventual disintegration of Ethiopia. IYet, f things do not change within the Somali Kilil, it could became fragment quickly and every tribe will curve its own region. Cagjar assumes he could act business as usual and fool people like before. Dadku waxii hore u dhacay wax kuma qaataan miyaa.
  20. Dhaqane , I was trying to repond some of your points while ago, but some how side tracked. any way, you said, Let me tell you a true story. in the middle of eighties while I was in Gahayr University, I used to sit and sip tea in the evenings in a small coffee shop adjutant to the Sheikh Cali Suufi mosque in Casapopolare. People usually sit there and wait until the Maqrib prayer is called. Me and a friend of mine used to sit there too, although we were not waiting for prayers, may Allah forgive us. My buddy travelled back home to north a year earlier and he told me about a story narrated to him by a man he met while travelling through central Somalia. The man told him that the man who assassinated Sharmaarke was not killed but was spared. He said he is a very tall and dark man with soft hair (Tima bis ah leh). He said he prays in Sheikh Suufi mosque, sits at that coffee shop before prayers and is driven by a chauffeur. While we were having a coffee my friend was talking to the same guy described to him by the story teller. While talking casually , the man said, ' in your life, never dare another man and tell him what he can't do about it' or something of that nature. Afterwords, My friend said, this was the man described by the old narrator. This was the man who killed Sharmaarke. In fact, the accent of the man was from Bari. It was just about 17 years or so after the murder of Sharmaarke. That was some bizarre thing, yet we went our ways and never even told the story to anyone. Now, let us get to the political angle. Some classified Soviet archives indicate that their was a real Russian communist operative within the Somali military way before the October revolution. It was well known that Siyaad Barre never believed communism or socialism, but used it just as a mean to the further his power. Yet, there were real communists within the country. Some suggested it was general Cali Samatar and A/raxman Caydiid. The later, who left Somalia to form SDF after he became disillusioned with the slow pace socialism in Somalia, was the real communist ideologue of the country.. He didn't go to Ethiopia for tribal reasons but for communist principles. Also, the Kacaan promised to give the power back to a civilian government within two years, as most coup leaders always claim. So, Soviet alliance and communism was the oily way to keep power and create dictatorship. By the way, in those days, that was the norm not the exception to the rule. Other than wester Europe the whole world were ruled by authoritarian strongmen. If it wasn't Siyaad Barre, others would have made the coup. It could Have been C/laahi Yusuf, Caydiid, Liiqliiqato or even Salaad Gabayre , the son in law of Aaden Cadde. dozens of coups took place in Africa alone from 1960-70. On the issue of Soviets betrayal of Siyaad Barre, a lot of literature is written.Try to read real books not internet BS. The East German files also had shown the struggle within the Somali government, especially between Cali Samatar and Ahmed Saleebaan Daffle. As files had shown, Daffle was pushing the Saudi and Egyptian agenda to ally Somali to the western front, while Samatar wanted to keep the Soviet and keep the way things were. Millions of Saudi money poured in and Saleebaan Daffle finally convinced Siyaad Barre , his father in law to ditch the Soviet. Actually, some believe that since Somali joined the Arab league, the idea of getting rid of the soviet was there. Cumar Carte never believed in communism and the millions pouring from the gulf would eventually push Somalia to the capitalist's team. In those days, the world was divided between the Warsow pact led by the Soviet and western democracies led by America. It was unthinkable for two communist allies to go to war. The Russians warned Siyaad Barre, but Somali irredentism took over the process. The Soviet ambassador said ' we will bring them to their knees'. SNM and SPLM of Sudan was the product of Mengistu to curve out a communist regime out of those countries. Yet, a renown historian Dr. Raabi said that neither Ethiopia nor others will recognize Somaliland because as he put 'Somaalidu fadhiid ma ahan waxa laga yaabaa in ay dhaqaado oo Dalkaas Degen ayaa la isugu iman kadibna kuwa kale la raadin' Yet, history had shown that the world powers and even African Union member nations never sided with Somalia on any issue. When Ethiopia was under communists America gave Somalia only defensive weapons for fear of Somalia attacking Ethiopia. We are all well aware that Kenya isn't in Kismaayo to fight Al-Shabaab, because, Kenya never suffered any attacks from Al-Shabaab before their invasion in 2011. That is why we always say that a national government is necessary to test the waters early and see what had been planned. It is very hard to expose these plans while we are battling Al-Shabaab and among ourselves. No nation is more strategic than Somalia today. We got 13 blocks of oil jjust on the shores between Mudug and Kismaayo (each block could produce a million barrel a day) . Uranuim in central Somalia, and well known deposits from Berbera to Zaylac. As America withdraws from these useless wars of the middle east , these region and the sea lanes of the Red sea will be indispensable. The trend in world affaires show that the gulf including the Saudis may collapse sooner than we think. Those who have traditional institutions like Tunisia, Algeria and even Iraq might survive, but the gulf with illegitimate rulers might collapse within. Two weeks ago, the personal body guard of King Salmaan was shot dead by so called dispute from another guard or friend. He was the son of the Suldaan of Asir tribe. These are one of the main tribes that dominate the national guard and military. As we speak his tribe is agitating for revenge. Palace gossip says that the body guard general of the king was present when the king admonished Salmaan Jr. and threatened to replace him with his brother Khalis if doesn't control his recklessness. Some say in order to silence the guard and keep the secret inside he ordered one of his guys to shoot and kill the guard. The same guard was killed few days later for murder. Conventional wisdom says as the gulf Arabs go down Somalia might rise. A reasonable Somali should cut their ties and create a new partnership with the rest of the world especially Asia where technology, economy, trade and power is shifting. Bold steps are needed to move Somalia forward. The Mogadishu quagmire can not be allowed to continue. The national capital should me move to small manageable town like Baraawe, Jowhar or Garoowe. …………...and
  21. At the same time, it is not Somali culture to insult Somali ladies. please apologize and move on.
  22. Waryaa Amigos, Horta nin weyn la yidhaahdo been baad sheegaysaa. Waa ceen dhaqanka Suuban ee reer Somailand. If Duriyada fought and were part of Futuhul Habash, that is good news. Waan soo dhawaynayaa. I said , I was brought up as Ahmed gurey been an adali man , and despite what historian write , it doesn't change the fact that the man was Adali Sultnate man.
  23. Che, Hadalka waad dhamaysay. This men were fighting for the Islam--period. There is a big difference fighting for your tribe or for a nation or the whole Ummah. I don't need to debate these kids from the war zones.
  24. Adeer, I do take with grain of salt in any copy pasted books which everyone can falsify these days. I have also seen books and documents that I read ten years ago appearing in the internet with totally falsified pages while deleting the original. didn't I say while ago that you are a master on these tricks. I can assure you that in official records there is no such thing as Habar Magada with any connections in Zaylac , Harar or the Adal wars that stretched from 1500-1600. The Magaado are hawd people whose land is west of Hargeisa to Sanaag mountains. These wars took place between Zaylac, Harar, Diredhabe Afar zone and reached south of Lake Tana in Coffa. Why would somebody whose home is Togdheer , Sanaag and Saaxil, and reaching Ceelka Hargeisa for the last 300 years or so, would associate themselves with what was taking place in the Zaylac coast and Harar ? In the Adal wars, The Somalis were aided by other Muslims like the Afar, ottoman Hararis, and other ethnics. We have known about Ahmed Gurey not because I. M Lewis wrote in 1980, but, it was passed to us by generations of people throughout the ages. Walaahi I knew who he was when I was a child 40 years ago. We even knew which sub clan of Awdalite he was. He is Abrayn, Maxamed Case, from Zaylac coast where his brethren still today. Neither You not others quoting foreigners will change our mind. You know the distance between Burco and Zaylac. Ahmed Gurey is a son of Adal Sultanate. I have seen other Somalis claiming as one of their, but never heard about the Hargeisa and Togdheer Habro claim him. If that is the case, Why not claim the Adal Sultanate to be yours?. Wakhti ha iska lumnin Axmed Guray waa la yaqaanaa oo haddi aad u baahato aftirsiimadiisa yaan kuu soo raadin.
