  1. OO, Tell us. Do you think Abiy wants Zaylac or Assab this time? How can he take a Somali territory at this stage?
  2. Suldaamka, Do not read much in to the political maneuvering of the Unaka and others who want to use the Somaliland issue as a stick to whip Farmaajo and gain few votes. Hassan Sheikh welcomed Siilaanyo but in his last two years he was disappointed and cut ties. Anyway, This guy Cali Mahdi were put there by Manifesto to undermine Caydiid and create discord. He was the man who through his incompetent Ina Carte Qalib dismantled the Somali military force. Cumar Carte issued an order telling the Somali army to give their weapons to the criminal rebels organized by Ethiopia. After dismantling the army, Carte failed to get any traction and flew to Dubai few years later and said, " Nin walba cid buu ka dhashay" . And in 1993 , Carte the man holding the title of the prime minister of Somalia, showed up in Borama and decided to run for president against Cigaal and others. Cali Mahdi, the dinosaur who caused so much death and destruction in Mogadishu is back again. What a shame.
  3. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed recently said on state TV: "We built one of the strongest ground and air force in Africa... we should build our naval force capacity in the future." Guys our country could be dismantled while we are quarreling about which village belongs to which tribe. This whole week I have been asking what are both Farmaajo and Biixi were hiding. War jiraaba cakaaru iman. No wonder, Somaliland never allowed anything meaning to be built in the Awdal coast, yet suddenly both Djibouti, Ethiopia and Somalia had agreed to built a road between Djibouti (Zaylac) to Borama and Jigjiga. Waar miyaa lala gatay?
  4. In 1946, Ethiopia proposed to the British colonial office that it grant it access to the sea through Somaliland territory all the way to the port of Zeila. Following up on earlier proposals on the same purpose which kept circulating to and from between the colonial office, the foreign office and the office of the Prime Minister in the ’30s, Ethiopia formulated a plan that merited a more serious consideration of the British. Of course, and unbeknown to the local Somaliland clans, this was the second, under-handed violation to the tenets and spirit of the ‘Protectorate’ treaties the British entered with Somali clans which allowed them to set foot on Somaliland territory. Secretary Ernest Bevin June 13, 1946, an Ethiopian Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs delivered the formal Ethiopian proposal to the British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ernest Bevin (1945-51). Ethiopia, for an exchange of part of the Haud north and northeast of the Webi Shabelle, wanted Great Britain to grant it a 100-mile wide corridor connecting mainland Ethiopia to the to the sea aiming to annex Zeila as a major Red Sea outlet for the landlocked Abyssinian Kingdom. George Hall, 1st Viscount Hall A memorandum, jointly submitted to the British Cabinet on 6 August 1946, by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ernest Bevin, and the Secretary of State for the Colonies, George Henry Hall (1945-46), advised that the Ethiopian proposal be seriously considered to (a) keep Anglo-Ethiopian relations intact if not stronger; and (b) to return some grazing land to Somaliland clans which will lead to the realization of a ‘United Somalia’ “In the event, it will be remembered that his Majesty’s Government decide not to proceed with the United Somalia project at this stage, but considered that it should not be abandoned altogether…They (Ethiopians) have now come forward with the proposal that of a corridor to the sea, to the port of Zeila in British Somaliland, could be given to Ethiopia, they would, in return, be prepared to cede to British Somaliland part of the Ogaden in exchange,” the memorandum underlined. The British, however, noted that the width of the corridor which the Ethiopians proposed was much wider than the need projected. In exchange for a narrower area, the British were prepared to accept a lesser area of the Ogaden than Ethiopia wished to offer. It concluded that: (a) The Ethiopian offer should be followed up without delay, and (b) that negotiations should be opened on the thesis of a more limited exchange of territory, but that…negotiators be given some latitude to make adjustments in the light of Ethiopian reactions to our opening offer. The two Secretaries, specifically, proposed that the Ethiopian Corridor be limited to the road leading from Ethiopia to Zeila, covering Essa land, on the one hand, and the land to be ceded to the British by Ethiopia be a trip of the Haud as opposed to the larger area which covered the Ogaden Reserve area, too. Somalis were not in the equation. It was what the British wanted, and what the Ethiopians proposed and how the reactions of the French lording over French Somaliland (Djibouti) could be once an adjacent area to that of their responsibility was taken over by Ethiopia, replacing Britain as its neighbour. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, with a Somalia, history-dull leader in tow, is reviving the Abyssinian ambition. Confidential reports have indicated that, in the guise of a proposed African Security taskforce whose mandate partly covers the Red Sea, asked President Farmajo of Somalia to give him Zeila. Abiy had a dual purpose: to effect a corridor to the sea which his predecessors could not bring through; and to build a strong naval base at Zeila ahead of the United Kingdom and Russia who had made similar intentions for the Somaliland port known. Farmajo jumped at the idea, the reports indicate. He saw in the Abiy proposal a second and a third term in Somalia’s Villa Somalia office if the PM could – by guile, might or coercion bring Somaliland back to his fold in another, much worse, Somalia-dominated union. And, of course, again, people who owned the land, Somalilanders, were not in the equation. The day – as luck and the determination of a hardened people may have it – was saved by the Somaliland public who declared they would rather take up arms again en masse than be shepherded back to a union that had already wasted 60 years of their time. The situation encouraged the President, his government, political party leaders, and the Houses Speakers of the bicameral parliament to take a bold stand and reject the seemingly unprofessional, undiplomatic blitz machinations of the young Ethiopian PM and his friend at Villa Somalia. Partly realizing its folly – or shelving its ambitions for another opportune moment – Addis Ababa hurried to mend fences with Hargeisa sending a key, well-respected Minister to touch base with President Bihi and his government reassuring them of a non-repetition of a miscalculated misstep. Britain, according to the reports, also woke up to the ramifications of the Farmajo-Abiy (derisively called on the streets as Abiy-hii –his father) waltz, doing some behind-the-scenes pulling a number of strings. If that is true, the UK still owes Somaliland. May 1897 was the first, major violation to the treaties with Somaliland. It gave Ethiopia to carve much of the Somali territory into its own. There is no time like the present for Britain to tell the world that the giant has woken from its slumber. Somaliland can be the ringtone it is looking for. At this stage, there is no time like the present, too, for the Republic of Somaliland to hammer political and diplomatic nails home due to the opportunities laying themselves bare for it to grab. The time for a negotiated diplomatic recognition is here but it remains to be seen whether the incumbent government can take full advantage of. 5. For the record, it is -2 and sunny today. Also, the sun goes down around 7pm. Our winter is almost over in this beautiful land of Canada.
  6. Maakhiri 1, You are very smart guy. I never looked that angle . These people had eight years with Shariif Ahmed and Hassan Sheikh to do something , yet there is a fear that Farmaajo might succeed. Because if he succeeds , those boys from Unaka had to wait many more years.
  7. come on, do you have jump in in every thread and throw the same old garbage. it is midnight in LOndon. Take some medicine, go to bed and forget about this Galbeedi guy, please.
  8. This is ugly. Ceebay tacaal. Former presidents going openly in a tribal den gathering and jumping among the know nothings. My God, aren't these people have anyone to offer counsel? If you don't this president goand contest the election. Damn, that Caydiid guy should have finished the job long ago. Reerkeena la'aanti waxba ma soconayaan ku laha.
  9. It is a sad picture, but this is also happening in the federal level where Ethiopian forces are securing every major issue of security. Who knows someday a confident and self assured Somali might show up and kick all foreign boots out of Somalia.
  10. Saalax, Do you know why they do not hold " Ciyaaraha Gobolada " in Somaliland any more? because the divided city of Burco has fielded a team for Togdheer region and those teammates fought among themselves with knives. They were expelled from participating. Do you when was the last time they held regional games? I haven't seen since Muuse was elected. The Burco divide is not economical or cultural, it is kinship to the extremes just like the green line of Gaalkacayo.
  11. This Forex thing is dangerous. Imagine they ask you to deposit the money and gain a profit within a month. I even heard that soldiers selling their rifles, depositing the cash to the Forex and then disappearing to their village for months while making money in the Ponzi scheme or coming back after few months and cashing in. It must be discouraged strongly.
  12. Hello SOL folks, especially the young guys, I have in files full of history of the nation which many clannish historians would never mention. I think you should help me establish my own Somali history channel where I could narrate the untold history. I even have more about REER Boobe and company, but would like to keep to myself at the moment harmony reasons.
  13. In the first clip, Saciid Ahmed Cige of Radio Mogadishu is reporting. He is alive and well today. Maybe the should interview him as an eye witness.
  14. Now let me address the chief propagandist of the SNM in Hargeisa Mr. Boobe Yuusuf Ducaale. Boobe Yuusuf Ducaale, the chief propagandist of the SNM group always laments about the sacrifices he and his ilk did for Somali unity. His favoured word " We lost a lot for the unity (Wax badan baa midnimada Soomalia inagag khasaaray ). Yet, if you carefully research history, it is very easy to conclude to the contrary. These are North Korean style channels were criminal members of the SNM group who have blood in their hands get interviewed and narrate their own personal stories without no one fact checking. Most of these stories are about boasting , overcoming hardship and victory. They never tell about the misery they caused, the civilians they murdered in daylight, travelers abducted from buses and trucks and shot on the road because they belonged to the wrong tribe. THere are well known cases in the road between Burco-Berbera were trucks carrying people were intercepted and those who were the D block clan separated and shot at the road. We have stories about police stations in Burco taken over and officers of the wrong clan not only murdered but mutilated and their genitals cut. Boobe Yusuf and his family never even believed Somalia when the nation was democratic and things were peaceful. His own brother Ahmed Yusuf Ducaale had one of the highest offices of the Somali government in 1967. He was there foreign minister of Somalia, yet just before the election he was charged with espionage. In late sixties, the Somali prime minister the late C/risaq Haji Hussein tried to bring Djibouti to the union when the French changed the status from French Somaliland to the territory of Issa and Affar in order to discourage the Somali nationalist movement in Djibouti. C/risaaq, who is described by historians as the most capable leader of Somalia in that era met Cali Caarif Burhaan the prime minister of Djibouti under the French run government and promised to to relinquish the post of the premiership if he agrees to join the union. Cali Caarif who by the way still alive today, in fact, when I went to Djibouti in 2010 I spent few nights in hotel called Cite placiel which owned by him, and you can see him meeting people and even arguing with Affair elders who come to see him. Anyway, after the meeting they both agreed to continue the dialogue. Since the issue was very sensitive they both agreed to correspond and hide the issue from the French government. A businessman of Yemeni descent in Djibouti became the interlocutor and correspondent between Abdirisaq and Cali Carif. Suddenly, the Yemeni businessman was shot and killed in "Dalagdalta ' area of Djibouti which separated the French quarters from the Somali area. C/risaaq became suspicious since the only people who knew the issue were himself, Ahmed Yusuf Ducaale, Cali caarif and the Yemeni businessman. The Somali police which was a well organized and professional force begun an investigation of the issue. The team went to Djibouti and begun to collect information clandestinely without the knowledge of the parties. Fortunately, they discovered and even caught the foreign minister of Somalia drinking and exchanging envelopes of secret dossiers to both French government and the Ethiopian ambassador in Djibouti. When the full investigation was brought to C/risaaq , his advisers told him to hold on to the file until after the election to avoid losing the support of certain northern MPS from the north. C/risaaq who was a very hardline on issues of government transparency and rule of law refused and asked the attorney general to prosecute the minister according to the law. A man who was clerk in the court in late sixties told me that when they saw the file, the whole was nothing but pictures of the minister caught in act. The Somali court found the foreign minister of Somalia guilty of espionage which was very rare in 20th century. He was sentenced 10 years in prison. C/risaaq Haji Hussain and his group lost the election and Mohamed I. Egal became prime minister, and kept the minister of foreign affairs to his premiership. Folks, these the legacy of the family of Boobe Yuusuf Ducaale who lectures people about Somalia of yesteryears and how many sacrifices they did for the country. Who knows , there might be a time people like Galbeedi will sit down in those propaganda channels and set the record straight.. If victimhood would separate people from the nation we Awdalites a have strong case than anyone else. Because the SNM used Ethiopian air force to decimate our school children in 1984. When the Djibouti-Addis train was sabotaged , the SNM convinced Ethiopia that the whole issue was orchestrated in Borama. Early morning of January 30 they killed over 30 student and wounded more than that. It was the biggest tragedy that happened in any Somali town at the time. I remember Radio Mogadishu advertising for donation to help the victims. I ask the SNM channels to find any pictures or similar tragedy from their files were six airplanes simultaneously bombed elementary schools or markets were 30 people died in one place. They day they entered Borama the mayor and nine member of his family's car was blown by RPG and nine family victims died. We do not publicly our victims because we want to move forward to the future and the with the deep knowledge that Allah the Almighty will eventually punish those who spilled innocent blood. Do not go that far. In 2009, a group of known SNM criminals who killed people in Masjid in Magaala Cad in 1989, surfaced and intercepted travelers from AWdal and mutilated their body and cut in pieces. The commander was a man by the name of Cawar Xareed, the same man who killed people at the Masjid in 1989, because they were angry that Rayaale refused to give them a plot of land illegally. It was a different era. Have you ever seen the people of Mudug, Puntland complain and cry about the crimes committed against them by the military regime including bombing of the water wells in Mudug. I have even met one or two who were among those who attacked Groyo Cawl town , just five miles from Borama in 1980. They usually characterize their struggle as a man going to the ring (The political ring) and if gets knockout while seeking victory , that is life , and he goes on with his life. It just that the SNM Habro never understood politics and the game of politics even today. Other than Egal, they never produced anyone willing to get to the political arena and the football pitch and compete. Since they measure everything on tribal telescope, they can not go far ahead the throat cut politics of Somalia. THere is a genuine fear among the elite Habro that they will be swallowed by the Southern elite the moment they join with their brothers. So, they rather stay in Hargeisa and play at the kids table and constantly play the victim card while dealing with other Somalis. When the senior nationalist Mohamed Cabdi Yusuf tells like it is and scolds for their treason to dismantle the republic, they all went crazy. It is very rare for the southern Somalis to tell for once just like it is. FAysal Wa raabe and even Biixi goes to the microphone and talks about how they defeated certain clan or insult people without any measured tone or balance. Yet, if someone responds forcefully , they all became unhinged. What they forget is that for sake of unity and healing the wound of the civil war most Somalis try to be soft and welcoming to the Hargeisa community. Waxay u qaateen in sheekada ay dhexdooda isku maaweelinayaan in ay run tahay. We the Awdalites do not wish to dig the graves of the civil war but will not stand idle when corrupt leaders like Hassan Sheikh tries to cover their crimes and SNM tries to use for their clan agenda. Here is a rare video of 1984 Ethiopian air planes bombing Borama elementary school.
  15. Abiy Ahmed has full plate of issues to deal. Before you go to Somalia bring back the Tigray back to Ethiopia . Ninkii tiisaba daryeelaa tu kale ku dara.
  16. These days When it comes to ports, business and politics in the north and horn of africa, all roads lead to the gulf in general and UAE in particular. Last week Hargeisa was buzzing about the so called incoming visit of Farmaajo to Hargeisa. It was unexpected shock for many to start the Somali unity negotiations from a visit without even agreeing to meet in the first place. For most people it was presented as Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia forcing the issue on both Somali leaders. For those of us who know a lot about the Hargeisa ruling class and their liying schemes it was easy to read and understand. We were wondering how those who were lying to people for 30 years suddenly agree to allow Farmaajo to Hargeisa and risk the exposure of the their myth to be exposed by a Somali leader. Yet, looking back these unpredictable and shocking moves by Muuse And Farmaajo was nothing but a well calculated distraction to throw everyone of from the real issue or what agreed upon in Addis Ababa. Both these leaders act unilaterally without the knowledge of their government. Most of these decisions are made behind closed doors and without the presence of their foreign ministers or members of the delegation. Furthermore, when they come home from a foreign visit they do not brief the media or issue statements regarding agreements they signed or any memorandum of understanding. Usually these documents surface when the other party uses them official channels as it happened in Kenya. This could be another under the table agreement between a weak and recovering nation and predatory neighbor taking advantage. It could be the maritime dispute with kenya duplicated here in Ethiopia, Those who were in Addis said that after the meeting of the delegations and brief exchanges of the parties, prime minister Abiy Ahmed demanded that all personal aides and ministers to vacate the office for the three principles to talk among themselves. A Waddani party member who has internal knowledge of the meetings both in Hargeisa and Addis told me that While the visit of the finance minister of Ethiopia Ahmed Shide was flow up of the Addis meeting, he swore that both Muuse and Farmaajo had signed an official documents regarding Berbera port and Abiy Ahmed took that decomument to Dubai few days later. Since UAE is worried about losing Bebera deal , it has pressured Abiy Ahmed to ask Farmaajo to sign and accept the original deal which gave UAE 51% of the lease and 19% to Ethiopia for the lease of the port. Since they own 3/4 shares of the Berbera port activity is useless without their support. He said Farmaajo accepted that deal and in exchange demanded to meet Biixi in Hargeisa to falsely project as someone starting the negotiations and rushing the process. While it shocked some people for the audacity and the bold move of Farmaajo to land in Hargeisa, it created hot debate and even some sleepless nights in Hargeisa. It was a perfect move by Farmaajo and his advisers. It created a buzz in the social media and Somali debate circles. Farmaajo, a man who could not secure the city of Mogadishu and facing the insurgency of Al-shabaab in the outscrit of Jawhar and Afgooye, decided to conquer not only Jubbaland and Puntland, but set his eyes in Hargeisa ( Intii ay ku murmayeen Muqdishi iyo Kismaayo, ayuu kawada dul booday oo yidhi Hargeysaan u socdaa, ma maqashay walee shaagle laga baqay). It was a perfectly calculated distraction to confuse the opposition. Having said that everyone in Hargeisa and Mogadishu is debating what transpired these sudden changes. Biixi who has zero diplomacy and doesn't even have decent speech writer, and last Tuesday, he went to the parliament and almost cried as usual by narrating old history and proclaiming the usual victimhood of the last Somali government. Farmaajo has nothing to do of what happened 30 years ago , yet somehow he might be smelling him of Siyaad Barre )AHN). The question was what Farmaajo gave to Abiy and Biixi to exchange for the Hargeisa visit. Certainly a president who never talked to Somaliland for three years, suddenly did not have a change of heart. As the Waddani man in Hargeisa says Farmaajo gave away Berbera lease to Abiy on behalf of the UAE. The Zaylac port issue was also thrown by Abiy although we did not have any agreements so far. People might not understand but the coastal Awdal is full of minerals, oil and precious stones. Due to bad roads and inaccessibility, Somaliland had neglected the coastal regions. Imagine no direct paved roads with Djibouti, the commercial hub and port of the region and Borama, Hargeisa and Jigjiga. As mentioned few weeks ago the bidding for the construction of Zaylac--Borama--Jigjiga road had started in earnest . Six companies became the finalists to build that road. If Jigjiga--Berbera is also connected, the Somaliland region will able to attract more business from Ethiopia. THe mystery here is how Djibouti will be reacting ?. The UAE projects of the region is in high gear. The UAE had agreed to modernize the Assab port of Eritrea for renewed Ethiopian trade, and those same guys of the gulf are taking over Bebera , Boosaaso and maybe Zaylac in the future. Maybe these deals are a prelude to destroy the Chinese presence in Djibouti and take away port business to ASsab and Berbera. At the moment Farmaajo is playing on both sides of the gulf. In one hand he is member of the UAE led " THree Amigos" of the horn while also getting money from Qatar. Hasha Labada Geel Jecel Waraabhu Dhexduu ku Gawraca. If these reports are true , Farmaajo had been duped by Abiy and in return he got nothing. He publicly apologise, promised to give 35% of all the loans and grants Somalia will be receiving from donors, and in return he got nothing. Yet, this Biixi guy can not keep lying of the things he gave to Farmaajo. One thing Biixi has learned since he came back from addis is mislead people and plan for the destruction of the opposition party. In his sermon this week he said he was going to open new political parties in Somaliland. According to rules , new parties could only be opened after ten years and if the demand comes from public and politicians. Rather than hold the 15 years related parliamentary election, Muuse want to buy more time and confuse the public by pushing brand new parties which might take another two years or more. AS I said rather lose the parliamentary election Muuse is on the offensive to destroy the opposition parties and create new ones. THe opposition is furious. Here Chairman Cirro and Faysal demanding new presidential election in 2020. That will be a wishful thinking to demand new presidential election while Muuse has more than two and half years. They should demand the parliamentary elections as soon as possible. It seems both Muuse and Farmaajo are playing games that could destroy them if they keep lying and hiding the truth.
  17. Turkey should never had allowed Idilb to be touched by Asad and his evil backers Russia. If Turkey puts its weight neither Asad oe Russia could stop them. Syria is its backyard and Russia should back down.
  18. Dhaqaale, even the late elder statesman AHN Xaaji Cabdi Waraabe said " Haday deyn lahaayeen Hargeisa London oo kale ayey nowon lahyd. No Somali city has frown from 1970-1982 like Hargeisa. I have nothing to say to OOdweyne and others but i might agree one thing with Xaaji Xanjuf that Xaaji , no sane person want at this moment to join the Amisom ruled Somalia. No one should exchange their peace for insecurity. The issue is this Biixi guy is keep lying to the world. Every time he meets world leaders he agrees to start the process, then he changes his mind. In order for the economic and infrastructure buildings to begun , he must start the dialogue process. This could take few years. I am sure he is lying to the people.
  19. his contemporaries passed away long time ago. i read about the SDU . people said he was the real communist of Somalia along C/raxman Caydiid ,and siyaad Barre feared them.
  20. Waxa la gaadhay wakhtigii Muuse Biixi qudbadiisa la naqdin lahaa. Gaas dhagoolayaasha Hargeisa jooga iyo kuwa kaleba waxa ay u baahan yihiin in waxii Muuse ku shubay laga shubo. First of all , this is not how you explain diplomatic issues. As a leader , you must have aides to brief you if there is major issues before you run to the office of Abiy Ahmed. You can not act like a kid in a candy store. He says he did not had any agenda. Halhaleel baan u Baxay Ku lahaa. He did not grasp by that accepting direct negotiations he entered serious matters that will change the status of Somaliland in the future. The idea of entering direct negotiations and then lying to the international community ,and then making the whole issue as a scheme to make some money from other donors is over. The relief and recovery stage of the Somali peninsula is over now. The world can not throw more money on these problems while the Somali nation is rich in resources . The time for investment and resource extraction is upon us. Talking about the conflict of 1988 is irrelevant today. You asked FArmaajo to apologize and he did , now move on and filful what you have promised to the leaders. ASking the old fart Saleebaan Gaal to bail you out and relieve the pressure will not work. You entered direct negotiations and there is no way out. No matter how much you exaggerate the victims of war , you have to make the tough decisions. He said 50,000 people had been killed in two weeks in Hargeisa. That was like killing almost four thousand men, women and children a day. THe Syrian war was going on with Russian bombers killing an average of over hundred people a day. So far half million people are dead while the evil Russian and their Shia criminals are carpet bombing cities like Aleppo with over four million people. If half million died in nine years of carpet bombing the people with high altitude bombers targeting high rise buildings with thousands of residents, a debilitated Somali army with no modern weapons will not be able kill that many people even if they target the Hargeisa market. It is impossible. Folks , the Hargeisa war was a quick two weeks campaign to dislodge the city from the rebels who decided to fight among the people from house to house, which resulted tens of thousands to flee for their lives and became refugees in unprecedented numbers. If shells and bombs are falling in the neighborhood everyone will escape to the nearest safest place, and that's what the people did , leave Hargeisa. Unfortunately people died .Even Ahmed Siilaanyo said that this military operation by the commanders to wage war among the populace was a suicide mission. Mohamed I Egal described them as insects flying to their death ( Waa xasharaad dab ku daadanaya). I will not even put the number even around a thousand. Folks, this wasn't the era of democracy where opposition and rebels flow the rules of engagement and minimize casualties. It was a military government trying to crush rebels armed and instigated by another ruthless dictator called Mengistu. WAr is hell and those who instigate it with hubris or political reasons always do not pay the price but the innocent people always suffer. I never debate the casualty of wars, but I would rather focus the innocent victims the Somali state arrested, killed and abused because they were either accused of disloyalty or might have sympathy for the rebels. These extra judicial killings of the people of Somaliland is the major crimes the state did and I condemn and recognize these in stronger terms.. Furthermore, at the end it became a popular uprising (Kacdoon Shacab) and these uprisings by the people as a whole is always legitimate. What people dislike is the SNM guys never ever admit any wrong doing despite the evidence to the contrary. People have suffered everywhere from Central Mudug where water wells were bombed, to the Mogadishu tribal killings , to the starving of hundreds of thousand of Somalis between the rivers . If Muuse Biixi is narrating all these stories for sympathy from Farmaajo and other southerners he might get, but what is his next move?. Recycling the war stories of 35 years will not sit well for those who you might want to arbitrate the major issues. They will teli you look at Rwanda where 500,00-800,00 were butchered, yet their nation is a rising star in Africa. Eritrea fought 45 years for independence and those whom it defeated came back for another bloody war just five years later in 1998-2000. Abiy Ahmed himself was on of the officers who were commanding the 100,000 Ethiopian forces who tried to invade Eritrea. 70,000 Ethiopians and 25,000 Eritrean were killed, yet they are heading to the future together. In fact, today, one Abiy, is the philosopher and Asayas is the strong elder statesman who want to rule the horn. I don"t know yet what Farmaajo is in this relationship. At the same time, Mr. Biixi , No one is interested your false and boring stories about 1961 and the union. He says Somaliland was recognized by 35 countries, yet, the act of union between the two entities were entered by both parliaments in April 30 1960. THe legend of Hargeisa says we should have waited few more days or few more months, but the union was signed two months earlier and the flag that was raised was the one designed for all Somalis, otherwise we would have our own flag and then changed to the blue later. Of course the southern elites who were running a government since 1956 or even before played a crooked game against the northern people, but at the end that mistake was corrected and a northern became prime minister. The official language became English which favored the North and the Kacaan itself was nothing but a Northern outfit that deposed the Puntlanders and the Unaka, the elites of that era. From 1969 to 1977 the Kacaan was dominated by northern leaders especially the SNM Habro. There was time the chief of staff of the president ( Wasiirka Madaxtooyada) and speech writer, Ina Hawaadle Madar, the education minister , and the foreign minister was from Hargeisa. Couple that with Ismaaciil Cali Abokor who is in charge of every Kacaan project, from " the campaign to write the language, to the workers and all the Kacaan and socialism movements. He cousins from Burco Ahmed Siilanyo was the economy minister and another one Ahmed hassan Muuse a member Somali revltuionary Counsil. These six men from one single clan served either in the cabinet or other major portafolios. Add that Saleebaan Dafle and Muuse Rabiile from Awdal and Sool. At some point both jails and the police were commanded by northern officers. Siyaad Barre never trusted the Puntlanders and the Unaka, the two groups who were the real establishment of that era. Siyaad Barre liked the can do attitude of the northerners. Who knows since Farmaajo dislikes both the HAG and Puntlandes he might want to ally with the SNM Habro. In 1974/75, when a tough drought hit Togdheer and Sool region, the Somali state declared disaster and mobilized the whole state to rescue the populace. Huge Russian aircrafts were used to evacuate both the people and their remaining livestock. They were resteled in farming and fishing communities in Baraawe, Kunturwaarey and Sablaale. Does Muuse and company ever mention this? No way. In fact, most of the EAst Burco active politicians of today are the children the Kacaan rescued from the plains of Togdheer during the drought. Among them are former chief of staff of Ahmed Siilaanyo and leader of WAdani Hersi Ali Hassam and Cali mareexaan former minister. Even Ina Xayir Maareeye, the current minister of information of Somalia is the children rescued by the Kacaan. Yet, today each one of them will falsely claim to be Mujaahid although none of them were old enough. Having said that , I do believe about the reports that Muuse send his clansmen to Mogadishu to find common ground with Farmaajo. While we have a system and somehow dysfunctional democracy in Somaliland, both politics and business flow certain tribal trajectory. Muuse Biixi knows that his chances of coming back is very slim. If election is held today, he will lose big time. Those who voted for him In Awdal are unhappy and might join the opposition, in fact, some are already within the opposition column. Ahmed Dhagax community who were split to 60-40 are now 100% Wadani today. If Sool and Sanaag votes in full force , Muuse will be history. There is also the constant rumor of Wadani and west Burco being close to Mogadishu politicians. So, Mr Biixi want to prempty any future deals by Wadani and take the deal now. I do not blame him. Who want to debate or answer the constant Hargeisa quarrel that never ends. Every woman who loses a plot of land takes to microphone and blames him for her loss. Anyone fired for negligence accuses Muuse for fring him for tribal reasons. He is probably adjudicating every week the tribal issues of Ceel Afweyn, Burco, and Awdal which never ends. Rather than sit in the kids table while the big boys of the region are talking and smiling, Muuse is debating with Faysal Waraabe who might have praised him a month ago, but calls him today a loser and other names. Heck , if I were him I would leave this house of Morgan ans slide to the big Villa Of Somalia. I wouldn't spend a minute with Boobe Yuusuf and the like who never believed in Somalia even when a northern was prime minister. THese dinosaurs are a dying breeds any way. Make the deal for the next generation. Of course all that pipe dream of " Aqoonsi" had to be slayed for good. And while at it bring the capital to Hargeisa. Despite my condemnations I really like Muuse Biixi. He was A God send for those of a unionists like me. I knew from the beginning he will not last among the bikering of Hargeisa. Even the good prof. Ahmed Samater said, " he is a decisive leader" (Muuse Ku dhac buu leeyahay). Well, if that is true, he have to show us now. . He needs few good counselors to sell the issue to the people. He can tell them that " with Abiy, UAE and others on my neck I could even face an insurgency within". It doesn't take much to organize few disgruntled Sand Dwellers from Hawd mixed with OG to do mischief, or few Awdalites in the border to cut trade routes. Waar meesha inta aysan Xabashidu inagu dumin maynu heshiino. Furthermore, the big money boys like Dahabshiil and In Aw Said of Somcable are eager to expand to the south where the population is. Two million people market is nothing in the real business world. Berbera is bigger than to feed Borama, Hargeisa and Burco. Rather than being forced to make a deal by a man who is presiding a fragile Ethiopia, why not sit down with your own brother and take the victory. for yourself. WAar inta Axmaarku ku qasbi lahaa , adigoo xor ah Libinta qaado.
  21. While the elite and certain politicians use the past to keep the status quo, at least in Hargeisa, the little guy or the regular folks have a say about their destiny. In Farmaajo , We have a president going to summits in Asmara and Addis yet, he never explains or tells the public what is going or what is agreed upon.
  22. You are probably right. He doesn't even use documents , it all about preaching.
  23. Here is the latest news. When the delegation of Biixi and Farmaajo met in Addis Abiy asked those accompanying the two leaders to vacate the room and the three men alone sat together. After while Abiy left the room. Since this is Ethiopian official houses the government might have both audio and video of their conversation. I also heard that Abiy will not take no for an answer and even if Somaliland refuses this time Abiy will come next time. He will travel to Mogadishu, pick up Farmaajo and land Hargeisa. THis abiy guy is in a big rush " Baabuur baa ka tegeya sida ay u eegtahay" Even in Ethiopia his plans are already out. He will be creating a prime minister and four deputy prime ministers including a Somali one which is probably Mustafe Cagjar. He was telling Amhara and Oromo ro " Learn Somali language so you could trade in Mogadishu , Hargeisa and Djibouti.. We do not have manufactured goods or even agricultural products to export. The so called trade will be probably one way. A Somalilander who is close to Saleebaan Gaal told me that Biihi doesn't know what to do. Abiy might even block the Berbera access to Ethiopia and use other measures to pressure Biixi. Yet, he said so far we don't know what has been agreed upon and Biixi is not telling to anyone what was agreed by the two men.. He feared that since KIsmaayo is already under Kenya, and Farmaajo is owned by Abiy, Somaliland might lose its quasi independence. Muuse Biixi is in his third year and might even think about the big chair. He could bring the 82 members of parliament and win easily . He doesn't need cash from Qatar.
