I asked him about his capacity to move the country to the right direction, he said, " he is one of those Somalis who are involved with NGO"s and judging by that standard, he isn't expected to be creative or build things, he added that it is the traditions of Farmaajo to always choose a weak link", furthermore , he added that , " if he conducts a fair election that will be a great victory for him. During our conversation, I was expecting the usual cheer leading of Somalis when a member of their sub clan becomes prime minister or president . Let alone cheer, my friend wasn't happy about this appointment. He said, " Farmaajo had an opportunity to select someone from Galmudug way back in 2017, and this coronation is too little too late( Waa Saambuus laga eedaamey). Since then a lot has happened. I have been thinking for the last few weeks to reach him and find out his reaction, but procrastination and work made it difficult to get that long conversation impossible. Finally , I did talk to him today, and was very much surprised about his view points. Here is our conversation. Galbeedi: Did you see the picture taken probably a dozen or so years ago, of former president Hassan Sheikh, Farah C/qadir, Odowa, Rooble and others? It seems Rooble is a full fledged member of " Damujadiid" right? Galmudug Man: of course. He was Islah, but during the Islamic courts and Ethiopia war , many members of Islah including Hassan Sheikh left the movement and founded Damujadiid. G. Is Mr. Rooble trying to run for president at this juncture? GM: No. I don't think he will break his promise of not running but holding the election. G. Then what had triggered these current problems with president Farmaajo? GM : Last time when Farmaajo tried to extend his term, the country was in the brink of war, Rooble intervened to save the day and told Farmaajo to allow the election to take place without interference. Everyone knows there is an auction and Farmaajo will do his bidding to lobby to get his men, and Rooble was willing allow this thing to take its course. G: Then what changed and made this Rooble guy angry? GM: Farmaajo acted like Rooble doesn't exist anymore and intervened the Galmudug upper house and parliament selection through members of the intelligence community and giving $100,000 a week to Qoor Qoor to sideline the would be members of both houses. While Rooble was watching all kind of political moves had taken place and he became bystander. G: Isn't people , especially the upper house bought and sold in both JUbbaland and Puntland, where drivers and even house maids run against the desired candidates and forfeit the contest just before started? Why Glamudug is efferent? GM: In Jubbaland and Puntland the opposition were defeated although the parliament contest did'n't started yet. In Galmudug many influential members felt being sidelined or undermined by the Farmaajo people through money and the intelligence members. So, Rooble decided enoug is enough. G: Why not Rooble make a deal with Farmaajo and be the next prime minister if FArmaajo wins. Besides, isn't this an opportunity for the Galmudug community to be on the drivers seat of the Somali politics? GM: Galmudug community has no desire of power in Somalia now, furthermore, the community will not accept anyone with dictatorial tendency who is willing to establish a one man rule using weak links. If you ask anyone from this community including the young, they will not stand for dictatorship. What people don't know is the Galmudug people themselves killed Mohamed F. Aideed because of his stubborn ways of doing things and his one man rule by refusing the wishes of the community, thus we will not stand someone like Farmaajo who might establish authoritarian power which would affect both business and freedom. We don't mind which tribe the president hails from as long as he allows the transparency of the system. G: You and I both know dictatorship will not be possible in Somalia? GM: The man has spent a great deal of time by asking for artists and others to compose songs about him and his agenda like the old times. He wasn't interested about election or institutions. He appointed inexperienced young men as generals, commanders and intelligence agency commanders. Even the intelligence officer he appointed to replace Fahad Yaasin is a 30 years old young man. HE doesn't want anyone who would question his moves. G: if that is the case, then Rooble selection couldn't be categorized just as a weak link? GM: Not only Rooble is a weak link, but he is also a fool ( Waa doqon, doqonka markaad is qabataan waxa uu kuula dagaalami si xun) .No matter what people say, Rooble would not batch or change his mind, in fact, he will double down and make FArmaajo disappear. Many people told me that Farmaajo will be brought down by the weak and fools he surrounded himself, especially Cumar Filish and Rooble. For example the day he hired Cumar Filish, he came with 250 militia members and fired all those who were the security of the Banaadir region. After that, Farmaajo couldn't even fire him even if he tried. He straightened warlords . G: What you mean disappear? GM': I heard from reliable sources that Rooble said, he " will be waiting the day Farmaajo declares his candidacy and make him either move to a hotel or stay quietly in Villa- Somalia without a noise" . Furthermore, he was waiting the day the first members of upper house were selected which means the parliament has been dissolved and the new members are on their way. As soon as Ahmed Madoobe appointed the first group of members for the upper house Rooble began his game. G: isn't the constitution say that the president will hold his position until another elected one takes office? GM: both Hassan Sheikh and Shariif were behind the scene the moment the election begun. According to Rooble , Farmaajo has the choice to be behind the scene or will be expelled and will context the election from Mogadishu hotels like everyone. G: what is the move to order the finance minister to hold the purse without Rooble authorizing? GM: In order to sideline Farmaajo and become like any other candidate , Rooble's plan is to hold the purse and stop the money flowing to Galmudug and South west. The second move is to take away the intelligence and the internal security away from Farmaajo. G: Medellin the security structure could cause a huge problem for the country and the city. Isn't that a recipe for war? GM: I don't think the military will intervene the current political mess. The police chief is an old school man who has good relationship with almost everyone, he knows the rules and will keep the order without interfering the political fights. The problem is these young commanders who are trigger happy. Furthermore, the international community will tolerate a political tussle as long as it doesn't became violent. G: So, in your opinion Farmaajo is toasted? GM: He has no chance at all. The northern groups who were split in two groups last time around, have even reconciled and abandoned Farmaajo already. The Galmudug members are divided between Farmaajo camp and opposition. Hi stock will diminish even more before the election is concluded. G: So, if that is the case , who is the front runner for president? GM: Of course, it is Hassan Sheikh. G: How about C/laahi Dani? GM: Dani came to Mogadishu in April and made a deal to both Hassan Sheikh and Shariif Ahmed to become the premier if they win. Then he thought that the election could be a three way horse between him, Farmaajo and Hassan Sheikh. In this scenario, he imagined that If Farmaajo trails Hassan or expected to withdraw, the Farmaajo block will throw their votes to him and steal the election just like Hassan Sheikh and Farmaajo. So, he ignored the candidates and worked hard to selected loyal people who will flow him like lemmings. Unfortunately, things are unfolding in Mogadishu, and the expected Farmaajo vote could go any where including those from south west. It is hard to tell what happens next few weeks , but Dani might have changed his man as things stand now. G: And one more thing, who recommended the selection of Rooble as a premier? Fahad Yaasin? GM: No. Mr. Muudey, the deputy speaker. The shocking thing is Fahad Yaasiin wants the Hiiraan seat of his community held by Mr. Muudey. THere is also other business issues involving Muudey who occupies government owned hospital property which Mogadishu Governor demanded to be vacated. In Mogadishu, everything is involves about business. Do you know the new man appointed as the head of NISA? He was the man who was brought the camel along Muuse Suudi to feed the Badbaado soldiers. He is now in charge. Anyway, chaos is going on in Villa Somalia, and our friend Cabdi Saciid Muuse has chosen to ride the sinking ship of Farmaajo. Folks, that is the view point from Galmudug. Since Rooble is a car carrying member of the Damujadiid group, he will either help directly and openly Hassan Sheikh as the next president. How Farmaajo missed the fact Rooble is Damujadiid member?. One of the opposition members told me few years ago that president Farmaajo is either a genius above everyone else or a bubbling fool who is hiding his weakness by being quiet. After all, if things take the way the opposition are projecting, then president Farmaajo could be an expired cheese, as our vulgar resident Tilamook calls him.

Logic and common sense is out of the door when you are dealing with Somali politicians or would politicians. At least those in the diaspora used to be smart and logical, but the Mogadishu syndrome is spreading now every where including Canada. Last month I was invited in closed door meeting with 20 other Somalis in my town to mediate two Somali would be candidates who wanted to run in the same district for two different political parties. The provincial election was two years away, and none of the two got their party nominations yet. If they run, they will both lose. Furthermore, they were friends. Just like most Somali debates, neither of the two acknowledged the other friends logic and case.

Premier Rooble is a man with zero knowledge of the Somali problems of the last decades. Every leader before him tried to minimize the involvement of foreign powers to immerse themselves internal politics. Some might choose one power for financial reasons or security support, yet no one has went as far as this man. He went and offered his services to everyone that was a threat to the well being of the nation. He went to UAE, them he met Sisi of Egypt and offered a new foreign policy in this transition period, then he proposed to take all regional leaders for Umrah in Saudi Arabia for God only knows why , before Farmaajo rejected that journeymen.He went to Kenya and tried to bring the Khat contract for his clansmen who desperate for the millions of profit. The guy is a loose cannon. This man supposed to prepare the election within 90 days and move the nation to more stable period, yet we are on the verge of conflict because of his actions. We haven't heard from them lately, why? If the rumors are true, Rooble will create a fake war in Mogadishu to avoid the September 18 meeting. That meeting might expose a lot including Rooble and friends hiding the lady in Nairobi. THere is another hidden plot to destroy the national intelligence agency . When was the last time you heard about targeted assassinations? NISA agents are every where to monitor the lone wolf who is pulling the trigger and running away in the daylight. A serious agency is a threat to foreign players and the criminal businessmen who finance insurgencies. Besides, since when is a director of an agency criminally responsible for the mistakes of the field agent?

How about the parliament convening and fixing the problem. They could fire the prime minister and even remove Farmaajo and appoint speaker Mursal as a care taker president to hold the election. Good for him. If Al-shabaab want to take over Somalia, they must take these steps. First they must renounce Al Qaeda and ISIS as terrorist organizations that doesn't belong to Somalia. Second, they must object any civilian target and re brand themselves as homegrown movement fighting to restore the unity and territorial integrity of Somalia. Third declare all the regional governments as puppet states formed by the TPLF to keep Somalia week and sublingual for useless argument. Fourth, call for negotiations and ask Qatar to mediate. There is Sheikh Atom, a member of Al-shabaab from Golis mountains of Sanaag and Bari , who is based in Qatar. Call every politician, academic and wannabe arm chair analysts, from Cabdi Samatar, Zakaria Xaaji Mohamuud, Afyare Cilmi and others to plead your case. Ditch the WAhabi doctrine and stop killing innocent people. Your first demand should be the withdrawal of foreign troops including Uganda and Djibouti.Call the so called election which became farce, corrupt and political auction masquerading as democracy as null and void. And finally, select a moderate Sheikh and to show the world your new face and ways of doing things.

At the moment, he has more chances than Hassan Sheikh and Shariif Ahmed. The smiling faces of deputy premier Guuleed and Cabdi Hashi could mean something bigger than the eyes could see. They both could join the new Rooble coalition. If the reports of Nairobi meeting is true, Rooble could be the new horse of the Kenya/Djibouti coalition. The Kenyans are not even waiting , today they opened an office in Somaliland and that tells you something. If he really want to fix things, he should avoid any moves that could wreck the boat or weaken the fragile institutions. If he flows the logic of the opposition which is to keep Farmaajo out of the ballot that could back fire. Farmaajo is just reacting. The man was quite for the last three months.

Mr. Rooble, You suspended the NISA chief for insubordination, but according to the provisional constitution, you can not appoint one. Mudane Fawdada Jooji. What is next, fire the military and police chiefs?

We have another drama in Mogadishu thanks to the lame duck president and a prime minister who is inspired by the opposition to eliminate and weaken the president in order to diminish his future standing if he wins the next election. We have to differentiate the mistakes Farmaajo had made and the constitutional frame work that everyone should flow. Folks, a lot is going on in Somalia. Blind ambition coupled with foreign interference or backing , tribal greed and dysfunctional system has finally led to the total collapse of the already fractured relationship. Before we discuss the major motives of premier Rooble to weaken and challenge directly the president for the third or fourth time, let us look what the provisional constitution allows the president and the prime minister. The Mogadishu media and the opposition is pedaling half truths about the powers of the president. First of all, the powers of the president are not, I repeat, are not transferable to anyone whether it is the premier, the son of the president or anyone else as long as the president is acting in his position. THese powers could only be transferred to an elected person, not someone appointed. President Farmaajo has transferred the security and the implementation of the election to the premier, I repeat the election only. We are all well aware the term of the president has expired, but he could only lose his constitutional authority after another elected president takes the power. Furthermore, the excessive branch outside the cabinet is directly appointed and fired by the president. THe premier could recommend their suspension or firing by discussing and getting the blessing of the president, but he can't fire them by decree. Now, here are the major mistakes Rooble made in this case. 1--premier Rooble shouldn't be challenging and sending ultimatums to the intelligence director through the media. This reminds me of Trump who fired FBI director James Comey on television. It is reckless and unprofessional. 2- Rooble had put the credibility of Al-shabaab from those of NISA. The Intelligence, through its intelligence gathering had confirmed the death of officer Ikram Tahliil by Al-shabaab. Then Al-shabaab had denied of her murder, thus Rooble believes the statement of Al-shabaab above the government intelligence agency. In fact, he said, " he doesn't trust the NISA statement about her ". Since when Al-shabaab, who uses extortion, murder, duplicity to achieve its goals are more credible than those who are fighting them? 3-He elevated a criminal homecide matter to a constitutional crises that had shaken government at this late stage. On the other hand, president Farmaajo had fallen to the trap of the opposition one more time. It was clear that Rooble was looking for fight against Farmaajo for the last few months. When Farmaajo ordered the government not to enter any foreign agreements during the transition period, Rooble contradicted him publicly. Then he went to Nairobi and tried to sign a commercial agreement with Kenya and only changed his mind after an uproar from the public. He even tried to convene a meeting among government and regions in SAudi Arabia without the knowledge ofthe president. And now he fires security chiefs without consulting the president. Farmaajo probably lost his head this time and said , enough. For those and many other reasons , Farmaajo should have known that Rooble is seeking to confront him on behalf of the opposition or for his own ambitions. Director Fahad Yasin might be a well-connected intelligence director, but he is not sophisticated enough to manage government bureaucracy or resolve political problems. He is known to use either brute force or bribes to achieve his goals. When Rooble demanded answers, he could have given him the usual runaround while flowing government protocol by being subordinate to the prime minister. He shouldn't be running to Farmaajo and create unnecessary problems for both. He could have said, " I am on it, will give you answers in 24 hours. Some say, no matter what Fahad Yasin does, Rooble was hell bent on sacking him. Now, since every move is politically motivated in Mogadishu, what is the main reasons that made the opposition to ride this unfortunate case of Marhum Ikrah Tahliil. I have no doubt in my mind this case is an opposition horse to ride to the election. These are probably the main reasons. 1-There was a similar case few months ago about Somali army recruits sent to Eritrea. Some mothers were used to march in the streets and demand the where about of their sons. Even the UN people joined and added fuel to the fire by claiming that the Somali soldiers were fighting in Axum Tigray. Somehow, those parents have disappeared now, and no one had told us why. 2-We have all seen that premier Rooble was traveling around the region and among the countries who have vested interest in Somali, mainly Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UK, Kenya and Djibouti. Premier Rooble told us that his main goal is to conduct a fair election now and prepare himself for the 2025 election. Yet his moves are totally the opposite. Somalis are not known to be people who look to the future and sacrifice for the common good even if it doesn't cost them that much. My sources told me that his foreign travels are all intended for the upcoming election. For example, Rooble had an extensive discussion with Uhuru Kenyatta about the Somali election. pRemier Rooble isn't stranger in Kenya. He has a wife and family that reside Kenya and he have been living in Nairobi for the last 15 years. My source also told me that Mr. Kenyatta had private meeting with Ahmed Madoobe and C/laahi Deni recently. Since Mr. Kenyastta is well versed in Somali tribal politics due to his dealings with Kismayo and Gedo, he suggested that since the current president is from the D block, it will be the interest of everyone to have a HAG president. The two stooges from Puntland and Jubbaland had accepted this proposal and will be acting accordingly. Yesterday , I did talk to someone who is close to the Puntland government and he told me that they have 75 seats (Punt & Jubba) and they will be given to their choice for president in the second round. He said, the main reason we delayed the election was to secure the seats, and Farmaajo, just like Hassan Sheikh will get 80 or 90 , but he will be defeated for the second round. When I asked him if they will be positioning for the premiership, he said, " we might even give the premier to the JUbbaland boys". For these Puntlanders, their main goal is to get rid of Farmaajo, and it seems they could achieve it.They are pragmatic and are willing to compromise to to reach their goals. 3- Rooble was selected by Farmaajo due to his weakness . Just like Farmaajo he isn't eloquent in his speeches and doesn't have charisma to command the crowd. But, unlike Farmaajo , he has good advisers and he listens them very well. Who knows, if he keeps scoring points against this weak president, this cat could become a lion in the future. Also, Rooble sees a vacuum both from the opposition and the current president. Waxa uu arkayaa kursi cidla yaala. Don't be surprised if Rooble throws his hat to the ring and run for president. At the end, Farmaajo could lose because of his choices. The men he chose to be his prime ministers had both conspired to eliminate him. Looking back, both Cumar Sharmaarke and Hassan Sheikh were heavy weights who tolerated their competition for the greater good. They were both running for president, yet the business of the government was functioning smoothly.

Besides, the state apparatus and the government isn't a one man mission. The intelligence chief can write a useless letter to the prime minister as usual which will be forwarded to the Caasimada and others as did happen yesterday. Since when is intelligence matter and the death of an officer could be concluded in 48 hours? This prime minister is out of touch. This is the mother of all problems. Everyone is taking advantage of the quarrels of these competing leadership positions. Even foreign nations choose which is willing to further their agenda. Many nations got rid of this system. Turkey chose presidential system which is serving them well. Either make an appointed ceremonial president and elected premier to lead the government like many nations. You can't have an elected president subordinate to an appointed prime minister. The prime minister can't appoint the intelligence or the military chief while the president is still present. This is anarchy Mogadishu style again.

This is what happens when you appoint a weak and unknown mid level clerk from the foreign NGO's as a prime minister. From the day he was appointed until the Farmaajo instigated crises of April 2021, gripped the the country, Rooble has done nothing but watched from the sidelines. Now that the whole power is given to him he is wrecking the boat. Rather than be a caretaker prime minister who should bring people together, he is creating more problems after another. The case of the Ikram Tahliil should be investigated without political interference. An intelligence officer abducted in the parking lot of NISA is a very sensitive case that shouldn't be in the public domain, yet this fool has immersed the case within the election and the delicate matter of the role of the lame duck president.
