@Che -Guevara said: I always find it silly not having members of Somali Government from North in the negotiations considering they are the Somali Government. I don't understand why the Mogadishu administration calls itself the "Somali" government when it clearly does not represent four out of the five Somaliwayn territories.

Why did Silaanyo agree to a meeting with a Somalia team which includes a traitor in their ranks? The opposition should hold the government to account for this scandal if they are to be taken seriously.
-
Xaaji you are ignoring facts on the ground in Somaliland. The truth is president Silaanyo is fighting a war which does not exist. The people of Awdal like those in other regions of Somaliland have genuine grievances which were repeatedly ignored by this useless government. The problem of Awdal does not need troops on the ground. It does not need even police officers on the streets. But what it needs is leadership and the will to take action to address the economic and political policies which have created these problems.

@galbeedi said: Tallaabo, your points are well taken. The issue is marginalization and economic depravation. . We are out of both from the government and the political system. If the world gives Somaliland $56 million for aid to help the development and we got $ 300,000 for two years, it is hard to fix that. Look at this picture, why don't send the army to the border crossing if there is a threat of " Jabhad" in the mountains. why flood the city streets with these militia. It is about intimidation and occupation. What this criminal administration is doing in Borama is truly an unfortunate thing to witness in this day and age and after 23 years of democracy in Somaliland. However, what gives me hope is the determination of our people to safeguard their cherished peace and security. The ordinery man and woman in Hargeisa, Borama, Ceergaabo, Burco, and other towns and villages in the country just want a government that maintains law and order, treats everyone equally and fairly, and works for the people. The people of Somaliland are genuinely united in their desire for justice and prosperity for all and are supportive of one another but we are cursed with awful politicians whose purpose in politics seems to revolve around the day light robbery of the nation. They take advantage of the public's fear of anarchy and violence to get away with theft, oppression, and many other criminal acts. Unlike Somalia there is no enmity or ill feeling between the different clans in Somaliland but it would take hardwork and courage to educate the people about their rights and rid our country of the parasitic men who are bleeding it to death and tearing it apart and elect honourable God fearing leaders.

@Miyir said: Galbeedi Seriously, not joking? what do you expect from a deluded population? I expected you to be a little wiser then that! its racked build on shifting sand and absurd claims, those in charge are aware and going to milk it until all collapse in heap. Well I agree with you that Somaliland's foundations are little bit shaky but nevertheless it is still million times better than a Bantu colony with no foundations to speak of. Only a mad man would swap Somaliland for such an entity.

@Mooge said: niyoow i see your reasoning is that since your clan lives in more miserable life in sanaag (which is by the way 50% populated by my clan) and you are accepting the continuation of somaliland, Galbeedi also should. but niyoow you are forgetting the most important point here which is that this goverment is run by your clan and siilaanyo is your uncle. all politics is local niyoow is the famous saying in the Western world. Galbeedi doesn't have to choose between two of you (a good one that is coming and a bad one that is here today). why can't he be on his own and run his own affairs good or bad? that is the point you are missing my secessionst friend. continue on No galbeedi does not need to choose between two groups in Somaliland unlike the obvious and backward duoploy in your neck of the wood.

@galbeedi said: Ahmed Yaasiin, do not waste your time with lot. Without Somaliland we the Diaspora and the local people built the Hospitals, schools and universities. We could do more. What is missing is political independence. Self rule and self reliance are the foundations of progress. If you join Suldaan Waber today and declare your intensions, Believe me you, this Somalialnd thing will crumble within few months. I thought you were a wise man until now!! Do you really want a country which served your people well all these years to crumble because of the greed and shortsightedness of few corrupt individuals? And do you really think the other regions of Somaliland are the lands of honey and milk compared to Awdal? I hail from Sanaag and the residents there almost believe roads in Awdal are baved with gold. If any region is truly neglected by all the successive governments in Somaliland, it is Sanaag. The problems in Somaliland Mr galbeedi go far deeper than the distribution of ministerial posts among the clans or the clearly unfair taxation levied on the Awdalian traders. Indeed our entire political structures and institutions are like sand castles on a beach- temporary in nature and without any solid foundations. What makes the situation even worst is the fact that the public is generally uneducated and so ignorant about all the other alternative ways of doing politics. In my humble opinion, I don't see any salvation on the horizon any time soon since our current opposition parties are just as useless as the gang which is running the show. The leader of Wadani party who will probably be the next president of Somaliland not only achieved absolutely nothing over the last decade in his capacity as the speaker of the parliament but actually wasted our precious time which could have been better used for reforming the system. I understand and share your frustration and anger at the ruinous road the country has taken but creating more division and chaoes is not the answer. Indeed the cool headed and educated elite of Awdal, should once again take up the challenge of saving Somaliland from itself and guiding it to a better trajectory. It is afterall their country and it is a responsibility they share with every other region. I believe the current status quo of distributing ministries as clan employment institutions is unsustainable and disastrous and is the root cause of the government's impotence and all the clan rivalries. We desperately need a better and fairer system and we can get such a system only if we fight for it together not fight against each other.

@Alpha Blondy said: SHOCKING BEHAVIOUR FROM the Kulmiye Zionist Criminal Regime...... yesterday i went to the second Wadani conference in as many weeks. this week Fatima Said joined, after leaving UCID. this is a great acquisition. it's like Di Maria joining Manchester United oo kale, you know. we were enjoying the speeches when a group of Zionist Kulmiye youth, in the pay of MP Nacnac, started hurdling stones at us. this was crazy. we didnt expect to be attacked in this il yare galbeed neck of the woods. if this was New Hargeisa, we wouldn't tolerate such nonsense. but we did. we were stuck in the compound, we couldn't leave at all. it was terrible. couple of my friends got hurt. we were like political prisoners. Wadani is receiving a lot of attention. it's going to be a deadly force to be reckon with. although, i doubt this was covered in the media. my habar qalooc friend, who is ranked highly within the Wadani power structure, was saying he might be able to get me in there. LOOOOOOOOOOOOL this was when we were attacked. Did Wadani party promise to name you the minister for donkeys and stray dogs if they win the election? :-D

@DoctorKenney said: Samiig is the type to hold a Norwegian passport and fool himself into thinking he's an actual Norwegian. He confuses nationality with ethnicity. Samiig you are not a Kenyan. You are a Somali who just so happens to live in Kenya, so stop groveling to these Kikuyu and Luo people who have a long history of mistreating Somalis. You cannot call these Kikuyu people your brothers when you don't even share a language, history, religion, culture or genetic phenotype with them. Look at the genetic map I just posted. And look at how Somalia is classified with Ethiopia and the rest of North Africa when it comes to our DNA classifications. This is something which Somalis need to understand. The Kenyan Bantus understand this fact very well, as well as the Habashis, the Berbers, and other groups. So Dr Ken, now you are a certified ethnicity warrior? :-D

@galbeedi said: Walee Ama Jaahil ii Tali Ama Jaray Shakaalkoo Cashaquna Galbeed Noqoy. Here is what is new in Somalilnd that the local media doesn.t cover. The Chinese are here. Since late 2013, a Chinese company has settled in Baki region of Awdal for mineral exploration. They brought heavy equipment and other tools to excavate luxury stones like Emeralds and others precious metals from the Baki district mountains. besides the Emeralds, most of their work is directed specifically to the miming of Beryllium. A metal element mixed with other compounds. First , they started hauling some of these stones directly to the ports to China for refining , but recently, they begin miming this new found metal. Beryllium (Be), atomic number 4, is a brittle, steel-gray metal found as a component of coal, oil, certain rock minerals, volcanic dust, and soil. Elemental beryllium is the second lightest of all metals and is used in a wide variety of applications. In its elemental form beryllium exhibits the unique properties of being light weight and extremely stiff, giving the metal several applications in the aerospace, nuclear, and manufacturing industries. In addition, beryllium is amazingly versatile as a metal alloy where it is used in dental appliances, golf clubs, non-sparking tools, wheel chairs, and electronic devices. To separate this metal from other stones, a huge amount of water and chemicals are needed in the miming pits. Just like the Canadian oil sand this toxic water should be sequestered or kept in a pond. This toxic ponds must be controlled and guarded from domestic animals and other wild life creatures including birds. Last month , about 300 goats and sheep's from the rural area of Baki have died after consuming some of these toxic waters. Some of us have heard or seen local people complaining about the danger of these toxic elements in their water. One of These weak Suldans was saying " Adeer Macdanta iska gurta oo , laakiin suntan naga Daaya". As usual , The minister of the Minerals Mr. Ducaale who is among the closets blood relative of Ahmed Siilaanyo, the President, signed these contracts without the knowledge of the Awdal government and people. Well, the governor of Awdal is another cousin of Siilaanyo, , which makes this a family affair to rob the region and the people. The so called tribal parliament which doesn't have any party loyalty, ethics or concern for the activity of the current government, doesn't know any thing about these contracts. There are no government oversight about the health consequences of these miming activities. Exposure to Beryllium can cause lung cancer, Pneumonia and other respiratory illnesses. Last month, the Chinese company announced that they will take out 500,000 Tons of rocks and dirt from the Baki mountains of Awdal. That means huge mountains will be exported or mined for the benefit of the Hargeisa based mafias. 1 Ton is equivalent of 1000 Kg. 500,000 x 1000kg = 500,000,000 kg. If the mafia is able to sell one dollar for every kg, they could easily make a half billion dollars. It is one of the major reasons these minister is creating a militia to protect his of shore contracts. To the surprise of the Mafia , almost all of the mineral rich area of Somalilnd is in Awdal and the eastern zone. Sheekh Samaale and the money. The finance minister who calls himself a Sheekh released the estimate of the 2015, budget. When the parliament was functioning like an opposition or an institution, ministers were grilled and questioned for the allocation and priorities of the fiscal year budget. That was when Somaliland acted as a government. Since it transformed it self a tribal entity, checks and balances have disappeared. There is no Parliament to debate, reject or even force the minister to change the numbers. In 2012/2013, the minister claimed his budget estimate to be $ 150 million. After the end of the fiscal year it ended up to be $106 million dollars. Among those numbers , 21% were foreign aid. Almost every year he adds the foreign aid money to the budget while hiding the deficit. This year he projected $252 million dollar budget. They added the budget almost $ 38 million foreign aid budget which wasn't a budgetary aid , but a direct aid for essential services like water, sanitation and education. They printed $ 80 million worth of Somalind shilling and added to the budget. They are financing their deficit by printing money to cover their short fall of revenues. In fact they could claim 300 million dollar budget while printing money fro thin air. What they don't understand is over printing of these useless money will create inflation. If meticulous bookkeeping and audit are done, their whole revenue will not be more than $ 80 million. The office of the minister of Finance is allocated himself a whooping $306,000 dollars. He is also guaranteed expenses for travel, fuel, car, house and other allowances. They allocated almost eighty million dollars ($78million), for employee salaries. for the last two years, they hired more employees than the combined number Somaliland governments hired for the last twenty years. The ministry of finance alone hired 1468 people , most of them from the sub clan of the minister. No one knows how they are hired or what kind of service they provide. The Somalia of the eighties where everyone claims to be tribal, when I finished high school , we were about six thousand students, who competed for 1000 positions of the university slots. While people were always added after the fact, those of us who succeeded were selected by merit. Although everyone came to Mogadishu for education and jobs, the country was huge for different opportunity. Here everyone is under the mercy of the Hargeisa Oligarchs. The youth who graduated from these mushrooming universities are dying in the high seas to find opportunities while they spend millions for non existent services. The palace is allocated more than 9 million dollars , while 11 million were allocated for development. During Rayale administration, the palace was allocated 1.2 million dollars. Waa qaataaye qaado. Fill up the jails. These Awdalites complaining about the jailing of city counsel members, youths and others, must understand the value of self determination and freedom. Didn't they hear last week about minister Hersi Gaab describing how he was chased by a tank in late eighties. He was a young teenager who never saw any compact or war, yet in order to boost his standing , he claimed to have been a member of SNM. So, these Awdalites must accept the jails, if they want to be part of the heroes of the Awdal revolution. If history is the lesson, Siilaanyo will create and nurture the Awdal " Jabhad" without the effort of those who desired. In the eighties, SNM was small movement, but their ranks were increased by the action of the governors, military leaders and internal security apparatus, by persecuting the masses. The latest moves by Siilaanyo doesn't surprise me. About forty armored technical have left the Khaatumo region this week and are heading to Awdal. More troops have relocated in the border area of the province. Some have described Somalilnd as the sick man of the horn of Africa. A wind of change is blowing. I believe that if Awdal people want to go their separate ways, there are easy steps that may hasten the divorce. For example: The recognized elders, Suldaans with Ugaas, can hold a grand conference whit in Borama city limits and decide collectively the proclamation of the separation Awdal. They can't force hundred's of thousands of people if they make their decision collectively. Mr Galbeedi, I am no supporter of Silaanyo, Kulmiye, or any other political entity or personality in Somaliland but I feel obliged to correct few serious errors in your comment. 1. 500,000 tons of dirt and rocks does not equal 500,000 tons of metals or gemstones. Only a tiny fraction of what is excavated will be useful material. 2. A kilo of rock and dirt cannot be sold for one US dollar so your figure of half a billion US dollars is absurd. 3. 500,000 tons of rock and sand is more like a termite hill than a mountain. Given that a small 64 Cu ft. sandstone boulder on average weights about 4.5 tons, the Chinese will excavate the equivalent of 100,000 boulders or a few descend truck loads of rock and dirt. To put things into perspective, the Pyramid of Giza is estimated to weight about 5.9 million tons which is 12 times what the Chinese company is proposing to dig out. 4. The extracted minerals will not be sold at the market price to the Chinese investors. At best what the government would get as a share will be between 5% and 10% of the market price of the minerals. The remaining 90% plus of the market price of the minerals covers the industrial processing, transportation, marketing, storage, packaging, taxes, company profits, middlemen, etc. My only worry about this mining business is its environmental impact on the area and the negative effects it might have on the health and livelihood of the locals.

@Odey said: Now that the interior Minister of Somaliland " Warancade" has publicly declared that Somaliland is part and parcel of the Federal Nation Of Somalia, can we now expect you die hards here of SL extraction to see the light of day and stop this madness http://www.kalshaale.com/ and of course I expect you all to start claiming this video was somehow doctored and therefore not authentic, but it is there for all to see! I think we are going in circles now :-D

@DoctorKenney said: Why are we even in that country? Honestly, Somalis in Kenya should start to think of a long-term exit strategy to leave that shi**ole of a country and invest in Somalia instead. Somalis aren't treated well in Kenya at all. I've had relatives arrested and interrogated for no reason, and thousands of Somalis have been abused/raped/incarcerated in Kenya by the Kenyan Police Force. Kenya isn't home. And the racism that Somalis experience in Kenya is 10x worse than anything we could possibly receive in a European or Asian country. Let's cut our losses and move on Did you forgot that Kenya controls a sizable portion of the Somali territory and population? :-D

If the Kenyan police is assassinating "terror suspects" then the real terrorists do have a justification to assassinate members of the Kenyan police force. I am sure when few of them are killed, the rest of them will be hiding for their dear lives. However, I think it is in the Somali peoples' best interest to work with the Kenyan authorities to fight terrorism and extremism together and promote peaceful co-existance in the country.

Silaanyo must be pissing in his pants now that he realised he got on the wrong side of the Awdalites :-D

The minister just pointed out how the koonfurian administration views Somaliland, which is a view I do not care about.

@DoctorKenney said: Most of the development which goes on in Hargeisa, is done by PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS, not the government. Private, patriotic Somalis are the ones who invest in Hargeisa or Mogadishu. They're the ones responsible for all the progress , not the leaders or so-called "Presidents". Whereas the leaders step in and claim credit for projects which were carried out by private organizations or corporations. Malistar always posts pictures of how much progress Mogadishu is going through, but he declines to mention that Culusow isn't responsible for this progress. If anything, he's hindering the progress from taking place faster. The current situation in Hargeisa and Mogadishu is directly the fault of god-fearing Somalis choosing to not get involved in the affairs of their own country. I know dozens of upright, moral, intelligent, and god-fearing Somali men who would do a far better job of governing Somalia than our current crop of leaders. Yet these men choose to stay out of the spotlight. They choose to not get involved and this inevitably leads to unqualified men like Culusow gaining power. This isn't even about tribe, I personally know several Somali men who hail from Culusow's sub-clan, who are far more qualified to be President than he is. We need to be more alert. We can't just expect the situation to fix itself, and every upright and god-fearing Somali man should pressure his clan elders and use whatever leverage he can to help change the situation in Somalia Drkenny, the God-fearing men in Hargeisa and Mogadishu do not get the support they need to lead and change their society. Very few if any would support their mission. In our barely Islamic communities, for one to get to the top, one is expected to lie, bribe, make false accusations, take false and insincere oaths in the name of Allah, break promises, slander opponents, create problems and conflicts in the society, create mistrust and enmity among the people, use tribalism at every opportunity, support every wrong-doer who joins their ranks, etc. Now tell me who in their right mind would so openly repel against the Almighty Lord just to be a president or get some other office?

So what is the purpose of this mashruuc? Is it just an attempt to "Islamatise" the gaalo bikini contest aka miss world?

@DoctorKenney said: Strange how Somalis keep electing the worst possible leaders to govern their country. Whether its in Hargeisa or in Mogadishu....the game continues. While the honest, patriotic Somalis tend to choose to stat away from politics and all that buuq, this gives the most corrupt Somalis the space and ability to maneuver their way into power. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."-- Edmund Burke There is very little faith in and fear of Allah in every Somali community. That is why the bad people keep getting power. No God-fearing Muslim will ever give his or her support to a known munaafaq.

Mr Oodwayne even if Kulmiye is voted out next year, the alternative governments which would take its place will be just as useless, clanish, and corrupt as the one we have now. I really have very little faith in any of our politicians. May Allah help us.
-
The only reason I support Somaliland is the believe that Somaliland as a political entity could be a winning formula for our people and lift millions out of poverty. But sadly it seems that we have learned nothing from our turbulent history and as a result foolishly allowed few self-serving satanic men to divide and corrupt our society. In its current trajectory, Somaliland is probably going nowhere.
