  1. This is a naked oppression. Gacan ku dhiigle Cabdi Ilay just wants to uproot the very confused and bilingual Somali clan of Jaarso by labeling them Oromo.
  2. They are not all dependent on oil. The UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait have used their oil wealth very wisely by developing their infrastructure and economy to a very high standard. Moreover, these mini-states have accumulated a vast sovereign wealth and built up impressive investment portfolios across the world. Abu Dhabi alone has a sovereign wealth exceeding $700 Billion. Qatar is awash with cash so much so that the UK government is running after it for investment. Dubai no longer relies on oil and has established itself as a world-class tourist and business destination and along with Doha and Abu Dhabi is a major air transport hub generating billions of dollars from international travelers. Most importantly, these three states have invested in their people and today they can be proud of having a well-educated workforce. Oman is also in a fabulous situation but as you mentioned because of their traditional way of life (and I dare to add their wise leader). The only country which is in a shit-hole is Saudi Arabia. Bahrain has deep social problems and is surviving only because of Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
  3. The Eastern Sanaag community should be careful not to attract unnecessary conflicts in their area. Somaliland did not really care that much about Puntland officials coming in and going out of these regions, but if the SFG in Mogadishu comes into the scene, then Somaliland will most likely deploy a large number its troops in the region and turn it into war-zone- a situation not in the interest of anyone.
  4. How is celebrating the start of a new Gregorian calendar year a sin? Can those who support this wadaad and his point of view explain it to me and to others who are baffled?
  5. It seems the administration realised that they have crossed the boundaries just like when they assaulted a blameless comedian in Hargeisa!! How many unacceptable mistakes will they make before they learn that Somaliland has something called a constitution?
  6. I don't know what to say; this is beyond ridiculous!! Banning the new year celebrations, forcefully shaving peoples' hair, assaulting law abiding visitors without any charge, etc., all without any legislation and public awareness campaigns as Galbeedi pointed out!! Is Somaliland a democracy or dictatorship, or theocracy; what is it? Why are the law abiding youth targeted when a large number of Somaliland's political and social elite are drug addicts and alcoholics? What about the rampant corruption in all the branches of government and in every level of the society? Why is the police force in Hargeisa wasting its time doing the job of the barbers when armed robbers roam the streets every night terrorising the population? If the people of Somaliland do not tell these useless politicians what their priorities aught to be, then Somaliland will definitely take a lot of steps backwards.
  7. Saudi Arabia could be in trouble but the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait will be very rich with or without oil as these states have small populations and vast investments across the world.
  8. A lot of the so-called unionists are actually driven by clannish agenda, so our friend galbeedi can barely hide his intentions in this kind threads. Suldaanka, there is a third option when it comes to union or separation. It is an amalgamation of the two; a loose confederacy which I have supported now and then throughout the past decade and a half. But definitely, no option should include the dismantling of what our people have worked so had to build.
  9. You must be one of those deranged people in the social media who bad-mouthed and blamed a whole clan because of the wrong-doing of some officials. I would love to know what sort of "debate" do the likes of you welcome?
  10. Why not the names of the Messengers of Allah and other righteous people in Islam? Mohamed is too common but we could use Nuux, Haaruun, Luut, Daauud, Yaxye, Shucayb, Huud, Luqman, Sakariye, Yacquub, Isaaq, Younis, etc
  11. The Mogadishu zombie "government" should tell the Kenyans that the Somali-Kenyan border is river Tana and not where the fence is being constructed. But then who knows even if the whole of Gedo is already sold to the Kenyans.
  12. Welcome back Safferz; this place lost some of its lustre when you left.
  13. The lives of several men was lost for no apparent reason. Where is the investigations, the explanations, the responsibilities for such a disaster, the consequences, the lessons learnt, etc.?? Is human life expendable in the minds of the Somalis? If we don't value our own lives, rights, and dignity, who else on God's Earth will give a toss about Somalis? No wonder why our women and children are slaughtered in other countries to harvest their organs and why a quarter of a million Somalis perished of starvation a mere few years ago and we have already forgotten about them.
  14. @Mooge why can't the Somali people demand of their politicians in the Horn of Africa the same good values, great work ethics, honesty, accountability, and responsibility as their representatives in the West? It looks like we are happy to have idiots and thieves represent us in our homeland whereas we demand very high standards of our politicians in the West!! Something does not add up when it comes to our mentality.
  15. The first Somali politician I came across who actually understands what swearing in the name of Allah while holding a copy of the holy Quran means!! It just shows you how deep we have descended into the gutter of disbelieve and wrong-doing as a so-called Muslim society. If only Somalis were honest about their faith and values, or were more educated about what Islam means, we could have avoided all the disasters which befell us and still afflict us.
  16. This newspaper seems to be portraying the Oromo as the victims of Somali aggression in the ensuring violence!!
  17. At least in Mogadishu, they don't do lynching and hack unarmed people to death like the baboons in South Africa and Hargeisa.
  18. The thugs calling themselves "police" are more like a criminal gang than law enforcement agents. But they are following orders from their seniors who are actually the prostitutes of the Tigray pimps. The prostitutes/politicians in Hargeisa neither fear Allah nor respect the constitution of the land which calls for due process in the judicial system.
  19. Alpha we fought Siayaad Barre's government because of qabyaalad and oppression. I didn't support Somaliland's independence because of fear and hatred of others but because I thought we could build a country where the rule of law is respected, people are treated equality, the poisonous clan politics which caused the demise of our former republic is abandoned, freedom of the people is protected, and justice for all is promoted. I am afraid today Somaliland has none of those qualities to justify my continued support. What we have now is Siyaad's government but without its benefits and with all its problems.
  20. Sxb no place in the Somali inhabited world is free from treasonous plotting. As we speak the Kenyans are openly defying international norms by claiming Somalia's waters thanks to the people you support. Stopping my support for Somaliland's succession does not mean supporting the despicable politics of the south. If anything Somaliland is freer than Mogadishu right now.
  21. Maashaallah but don't expect your wife to look after you like a child. Share the domestic responsibilities whenever you can.
  22. https://www.voanews.com/a/islam-thrives-former-us-church/4164900.html Surah Al-Hajj ayah 22: (They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause) except that they say, "our Lord is Allah". Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);- for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will). While in Somaliland people get animated by the thought of re-opening a Catholic church in Hargeisa, in the US city of Syracuse, the Catholic Christians seem to be more true to the spirit of the Quran than the so-called Muslims in Somaliland. When the Christian officials faced a choice- to sell their disused church to investors who wanted to turn it into a bar or sell it to a group of Muslims who wanted it to be their mosque for a fraction of the price others were offering, the Christian officials decided to keep the house of God a place where God is worshipped and gave it to the Muslims losing a lot of money as a result. Now that is what I call "the love of God". While for most Somalis "God" is just a notion inherited from their parents, the people we call "gaalo" are spending precious resources so that the name of God is remembered. So next time you arrogantly call a God-fearing Christian- "gaal" take a good look at yourself and ask- what have I ever done for God?
  23. The Amhara and Tigray will not allow Ethiopia to disintegrate because their livelihood depends on a united Ethiopia. These people know very well that a landlocked Amhara and Tigray mini-states will do nothing to advance their peoples' standard of life, instead a diminished Ethiopia will plunge everyone back into extreme poverty. They know without the Federal state, there will be no more mega projects like dams, railways, and industrialisation. There will be no world class money making businesses like their airline and hospitality industry. And most importantly, these Orthodox Christians know that without their ancient empire they will be under the control of Muslims.
