The current prime minister is way better than all the so called presidents and prime ministers of the last 21 years in Koonfuria. He is more educated, more professional, more effective, more honest, more dignified, and more humble in my opinion than all the charlatans in Koonfuria. Give this guy the presidency for goodness sake if you want to have any hope of your country returning to normalcy.

I support this forward thinking movement. Puntland can be and should be an independent nation free from the troubles of the south but must also respect Somaliland's borders if they want our support.

It is Ramadan, fear Allah.

The Ethiopian and Djibouti consulates are already operating in Hargeisa, the Danish and Turkish governments will soon open their diplomatic offices in our capital, and now the UK joined them. Things will only get better. Inshaa Allah.

I mean, some hacker who had access to that central data bank could have just typed, say, $10,000 sent to heblaayo in any magaalo and she could have received without anyone realising beforehand. Whoa. They could do that if they wished but the hacker is not interested in money. They warned customers to withdraw their cash from Dahabshiil within two months before anonymous does it for them!! I am concerned for my mom's hagbad. However, I believe Mr/Ms anonymous is a nomad with political agenda. Very clever guys.

The hackers also revealed how Dahabshiil agents in the Arab countries of the middle East watch hardcore porn on the company's computers. I thought Dahabshiil as a growing company took the protection of its customers' private information seriously, but I guess I was wrong. If any xawaala wants to develop into a fully fletched bank, then they must invest in the security apparatus necessary for such an institution no matter how high the price tag is. Banking and expensive technologies go hand in hand. There are no shortcuts around it.

Tribal gathering like this were acceptable when we had no elected politicians to serve us. But now the Republic of Somaliland has an elected leader and a capable government, elected parliamentarians to speak for and work for those who elected them, and judicial system and security forces to bring law and order to the country. In my opinion it is a travesty of democracy to attach any importance to a bunch of mostly uneducated and certainly unelected self-appointed and self-serving men who bypass the whole national political system and pretend to speak for a large section of our population in this day and age. The best way for any tribe or citizen of Somaliland to promote their interest and develop their region is: 1. To elect educated and capable politicians to positions of power, 2. To pressure their local governments to do more and work better for their region and towns, 3. To bring to account their respective parliamentarians who represent them at the national level and demand that they fulfil the duties for which they were elected by enacting laws, bringing the government to account, and sitting in committees. 4. Work for the common good of the country so that everyone prospers. I believe it is also time our constitution demands any clan chief to get direct mandate from the clan in order to have legitimacy.

At least we know he did not bath in Somali blood to get to where he is. Good luck to him.

I had some worries about the precedent this whole tribal business would set, but the outcome is good and very progressive.

I did not see any pictures from the Diridhabe and Mooyaale regions. Or did you give up on them for the Oromos to take?

burahadeer;851438 wrote: that was the day all prominent & many other landers left Mogadishu neva to go back(my uncle left their home wide open & undisturbed to flee with 4 kids).I was told the diaspora in the south came back by the 1000s.It was the biggest boost SNM had in years...a turning point & rallying cry.Alla ha u naxariisto. Diaspora in Konfuria indeed.
-
Where did I say any tribe was responsible for that gruesome crime? I just pointed out the fact that non of the people of Konfuria protested against the mass murder of the innocent native Somalilanders in Mogadishu because they where either supporters of the regime or could not care less about what happened to the foreign guests. By Konfuria I mean Somaliland's southern neighbour.
-
This ugly crime exposed the difference between the values of the Koonfurians and that of the Somalilanders. Basically, the people of Somaliland would rather go to the mass graves themselves than allow the rounding up of their neighbours for mass execution. But what had the “patriotic” Koonfurians done when all this persecution was happening to their fellow citizens in their region? The answer is simple- they ignored it because what happened to the “xabadi keentay” or the “q@ldaan” in Koonfur was a non issue. In other words, they cared little for the foreigners.

Alle ha u naxariisto dhamaantood. Gacan bani aadam ayaa xaqdarro kudishay.
