  1. Caabudwaaq probably was a place of pilgrimage for the ancient Somalis. I like the fact that our people were always monotheists and as a result when Islam came to us we adopted it so easily - Waaq was now called Allah and He had a message for us. The crow is given a good reputation in Qur'an as the bird sent by Allah to show Adam's criminal son who murdered his righteous brother out of jealousy how to bury his dead brother's corpse.
  2. What did he do? If he scammed people of their money he should not be allowed to seek refuge in Somaliland.
  3. Actually I am very suspicious of the quality of the medical equipment given to Somaliland and other African States. We don't have the expertise to test the effectiveness of these materials to prevent infection. The government should not rely on these donated materials and instead do more to prevent people to gather in crowds. Social distancing and isolating of the sick is the only option we have to fight this virus. Dadka waa in lagu dhaho afka ku duubta cumaamadihiina iyo shalmadihiina.
  4. Our minister of agriculture is a national hero. He really works hard to make a difference to people's lives.
  5. Somaliland politicians don't know what their mandate and responsibilities are. They believe political power is a hagbad kolba beeli markooda hesho.
  6. What Siyaad was doing was robbing a lot of property from one clan and giving it to his. The SL police are confiscating contraband good from smugglers and putting it to general use. Even members of Siyaad's clan living in Somaliland are benefiting from the confiscated goods.
  7. Why are people spreading rumours about this useful hospital? Ilaahay ha caafiyo dadka ku jira.
  8. I am actually delighted about how the HAG folks have managed to rebuild and continue to rebuild their metropolis given the very difficult security situation. May their patience and strength grow with time. Now tell us about the Xabashi colony you call home? Or should I actually call Addis Ababa to get any information about that sorry place of yours?
  9. The ambassador is just an employee who will speak whatever the state department of the day tells him to. He hasn't changed Somaliland's course in all those years he has been working in the region and there is no obvious reason he can do anything to alter that course now. Unlike the political shenanigans in Villa AMISOM and their poor project in koonfuria, Somaliland doesn't exist or cease to exist based solely on the signatures and words of their foreign masters.
  10. Have you actually watched the video before posting it? It is clearly an amateur film made by those cheeky guys. That said, the terrible state of Hargeisa's infrastructure and the total lack of basic hygiene is not hidden from anyone who visits the city. You don't even have to go to the poorer neighbourhoods to be confronted by rivers of garbage as the British-built drainage system near the presidential compound which is part of the only drainage system ever built in Somaliland till this day is clogged with all kinds of trash. This state of affairs is really difficult to tolerate given the mill of dollars the city council collects ever year from the residents.
  11. As I said all the Somali words you keep mentioning are still very much in our vocabulary, I use them and everyone I know uses them although the use of foreign loan words is increasingly becoming normalised and many such foreign words have replaced Somali words in day to day conversations. There are however some words that have become more specialised and therefore lost their original meaning. For instance, the word cusbo is now exclusively used for the large salt crystals which is not suitable for cooking but used for other purposes. And the word bur is now the name for a type of fried snack usually eaten for affur during Ramadan. Many years ago when I was a teenager, I had a heated argument with a Cumaani carab guy in the presence of my now deceased cousin and in anger decided to use "my mother tongue" to swear at him so I used a word like dayuus or something similar which I can't remember. But alas the Arab guy understood what until then I thought was exclusive to us and so landed myself in hot water
  12. The African Americans are useless at defending themselves. They are considered sitting ducks because they are too busy killing each other and committing crimes which puts them in prisons. If they organised and armed themselves, taking out every racist who kills one of them, the white racists would think twice before they embark on hostile endeavours against the blacks.
  13. You are missing a hand held grenade and a baazuuke from your list of essential survival kit
  14. I don't know where you got your misinformation but we do use all the Somali words you made exclusive to koonfur. The only word which has a different meaning in waqooyi is "dooro" which is the word for the filt in the foreskin of an uncircumcised penis.
  15. Have you forgotten that a large number of our elderly who while suffering from chronic diseases go out every day to earn a living for their families? These elderly people (over 50 years old in Somali context) who don't have the luxury of isolating themselves whilst getting paid by a benevolent government are also bringing up a lot of children. Even if they had the means to sit at home, who will stop the large number of dependent children or relatives from passing on the infection to them? The "head immunity" policy adopted by some countries is simply intolerable when it comes to the Somali peninsula. For this reason the best way to stop the spread of the virus is to aggressively pursue all those who have symptoms and isolate them for three weeks in government run facilities. No need for testing, isolate just about anyone who is ill or coughing.
  16. It is exactly what I am talking about. The FG has no business taxing the people of Mogadishu and interfering in their local governance. That is why I referred to Mogadishu as a City State like Singapore. One cannot be expected to consider the residents of Villa AMISOM to represent any Somali citizen in the regions when all they do is run the local affairs of their host city.
  17. If you analyse the mindsets and behaviour of successive occupants of villa AMISOM, Somalia can be thought of as a city state. Everything revolves around Mogadishu. Any charity given to those in the infamous bunker is either spent on themselves or in their immediate vicinity. Other than the usual horrible news articles in the international media related to conflict and disaster in the regions, you hardly hear anything associating those regions with the government of Somalia. We often hear Somali police, Somali army, this Somali association and that Somali association, etc and the thing connecting all of them is that they are all Mogadishu based. How many times have you guys heard the words Somalia opens its first this and its first that or done this for the first time since 1991 although we are know that the regions especially Puntland has been having or doing these things since 1997? Why aren't the regions complaining about this gross unfairness of the so called federal government? For instance, if the capital city were to move to Gaalkacayo, then which part of the city would the federal government spend donor money on? I am sure if it sent resources only on the Galmudug side Puntlanders would be up in arms, won't they? Example: Boost for Somalia’s COVID-19 fight as U.S. donates 350 hospital beds WWW.HIIRAAN.COM The U.S. has donated 350 hospital beds to Somalia to bolster the fight against COVID-19 as the number of cases in the... Lastly, we have in here a fellow called MMA who spams this forum with all things "Somalia", but guess what? Everything he posts is actually about Mogadishu!! This is the real life definition of the Stockholm syndrome
  18. Why don't you tell the Gulf Arabs that they share language, religion, culture, etc and that their borders are fake? After you are done with the Gulf, take your preaching to the Spanish speaking Catholic Latin America, then to the English speaking mostly Protestant countries or the Anglo Saxons as they are known, and don't forget Germany and Austria.
  19. They should also set up a diaspora ZAAD and e-Dahab accounts where those of us outside the country can directly transfer money.
  20. There are not even five thousand families in the whole of Badhan. This is clearly a case where the minister responsible for the distribution of this much needed aid has decided to give his entire clan a bonus!! Badhan is neither a war zone like many places in the South nor suffered any natural disaster like the flooding in Beledwayn and the locust infestation in the southern farm lands.
  21. No no!! can you hear me oday? Villa AMISOM is NOT and CANNOT give away ANYTHING. Zero. I thank the UN and the international community for helping our poor people.
  22. Waaryaa MMA, Why don't you tell us what your folks in Bay and Bakool doing to prepare for the pandemic or has Abiy Ahmed and his army generals already taken care of that? I guess I should be asking the relevant government department in Addis Ababa anything to do with your region, is that right?
