Alle ha u naxariisto president Cabdi Raxmaan Cali Tuur. Another interesting fact about the people of Somaliland is their amazing resolve to safeguard their hard-won independence no matter what. When president Tuur who was very influential and respected by the general public, the SNM, and his large clan changed his mind on Somaliland's independence and went to Xamar, suddenly every man, woman, soldier, and child in Somaliland regardless of their clan gave him the middle finger and lined behind AUN president Cigaal. President Tuur's legacy should be a good lesson to the Koonfurians and teach them that it is not the politicians, the professors, or the warlords who control Somaliland and have the last say, but instead it is the ordinary man and woman on the streets. Win the people's trust and goodwill and you win Somaliland, simple as that.

We ask the Puntland leadership to respect the rights of the minorities within their populations and stop abusing their human rights denying them their God given identity by MJeertenising them.

Carafaat;944264 wrote: Wasnt Ali Khaliif Galeyr was part of the Burco Conference where Somaliland was founded in 1991 and the Borama conferences where the clans agreed to peace and thus a founding member of Somaliland? Eventhough he changed his opinion later, so wouldnt be suprised if he changes again. Professor Galaydh was indeed one of the founding fathers of modern day Somaliland and had he stayed with Somaliland by now he would be a heavyweight in Somaliland politics and favourite for the next presidency but he ruined all that by going to Xamar. Sad we lost him:(

Brother Chimera I love your ideals but to be honest with you I along with Xaaji Xunjuf and about 4 million other folks don't want to go back to the past (the former Somali republic). We believe that entity should be left alone to rest in peace:)

Ah where were we? Lets forget about this silly video and resume our discussion of the more important issues like the D-block's invasion of Jubbaland with the help of the Kikuyus:cool:

Many thanks to professor Cabdalle Mansuur. This is a great interview and very informative. For a long time now I knew about our origins and relations with the rest of East Africa and the world but I think the clan system is so ingrained into our collective psyche, it will be hard for our society to overcome it. Education be it Islamic or worldly is the key to enlightenment for the masses and so must be given a priority by all the administrations. One thing I really dislike about the Somali style clan though is its total neglect of the female part of the genealogy. I mean a child will get 50% of its genetic make up from the mother yet Somalis disregard that and consider only the child's paternal genealogy. As a result of this any two neighbouring clans will have a completely similar genetic composition due to intermarriage, and yet they will consider one another as outsiders. For this reason, I believe the Somali clan system is not much different to football hooliganism as both are only kept alive due to the emotional attachment of its members to the group.

Qaranki;943420 wrote: Listening to the opening stages of the interview and I have to say what has been reported looks like it has been exaggerated. So far in the interview Samatar has said he was invited by the UK govt to write a paper on who he regards as the stakeholders of Somalia , resigned from the parliament, looking to go to his home town of Gabiley + go to Puntland as well as he doesn't want to confine himself to Xamar..... If his reason for going to Somaliland is write about it in his UK sponsored paper for Somalia, then he should be bared from entering the country. He should be told once again that Somaliland is not Somalia and therefore he should head elsewhere for his research. I doubt he will be honest in his assessment and would probably include all sorts of coffee shop fiefdoms in his analysis and presentations as being legitimate “stakeholders”. Somaliland should slam its doors on his face.

Claiming her and congratulating her are two different things. Learn to use your head boy. We are proud of her because her family hail from Somaliland but we don't need to claim people as we have a healthy population of 4 million(maybe 5 million) living in Sool, Sanaag, Togdheer, Awdal, Salal, and the other provinces in the republic of Somaliland. Congratulations to our Somali sister once again.

"Somalia is strategically important, both for its position on the Horn of Africa, and for its recently confirmed energy reserves. Because the country does not have a fully functioning infrastructure, profiting from its hydro carbons remains a plan for the future, but the UK and other countries are positioning themselves to co-operate with the new federal government." William Hague I think it is best if the Somalia government waits until they are fully capable of controlling their security, borders, economy, etc, etc before rushing to sign any agreement with anyone.
