So according to this warped and essentialist logic all supporters of secession want Somalia to fail, and all Somalilanders who want it to succeed are open or closet unions. Smdh. Somalis are a confused lot.

He is a British athlete, represents Great Britain, and like all the other celebrities would just wave any flag given to him by his fans, be it Israeli, Chinese, Ethiopian, etc without attaching any meaning to it. Let us just leave this guy alone.

  4. Marksman;945210 wrote: I may not have a good understanding of Sharia. Can you guys help me out? My opinion that is formed over the years is that Sharia is detriment to development and an insult to humanity and dignity. I wish people would stop the romanticizing of this. There is some things about sharia that I highly value, such as the care for environment, animals and a strong attitude against corruption. If I am wrong please let me know. I'm trying to understand. Does sharia imply: - Women are worth half of the man in court. (Which means statements of two women is equal to one man) - Women receive half of the inheritance, men full. - Death penalty for apostacy (THERE IS NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION. REALLY?) - With rape cases, 4 witnisses (4 men, double women) are needed that had seen the act. - Men can divorce their wives easily by saying a word (and in some countries even allowed by a text message). Women filing for a divorce is more difficult. You are looking at the sharia through the lenses of the western Islamaphobes. And to understand the reduced share of women's inheritance and their role in the judicial system, you should first understand the patriarchal system in Muslim families and the economic system in a Islamic society. Unlike the non-Muslim societies, Islam places all the financial responsibilities in a family unit squarely on the shoulders of the husband. Also it is the husband who should pay out compensation to the wife if the marriage fails (provided it is the man's fault). If the breakdown of a marriage is the woman's fault, then she pays nothing. It is also men who should provide for their elderly parents and other needy relatives and pay take on other societal duties such as communal compensations etc. So you just can not take isolated bits from here and there and tell this is what the sharia says. The sharia law is a comprehensive legal system and should be taken as whole. Just like rape cases, four witnesses are also required for murder and other crimes in order to proof guilt beyond doubt.
  5. ^ According to the Sharia law on which Somaliland's constitution is based, the death penelty is given to all those who commit murder but if the families of the victims decide to forgive then a blood money is be paid and the murderer released. This is how it works in most cases, but for those who continue to pose threat to society like those crazy extremists who killed the aid workers, the courts keep them in jail and away from society. Good to know the killer of the Italian nun is in jail. May he rot in there like a rat.
  6. The terrorists who killed sister Annelina Tonelli is not yet caught I believe. The terrorists who killed Richard and Enid Eyeington are the same ones who attacked a GTZ vehicle between Berbera and Hargeisa killing Flora Cheruiyot, a Kenyan aid worker and injuring her German boyfriend Herald Hinkler. They were convicted and sentenced to death by a court but are now in jail following a protest by the victims' families and a diplomatic pressure from Great Britain against the death penalty. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/4435212.stm

Even the US do not kill the leaders of Al-Qaedah when they fall in their hands, they just put them in jail for life. It is all about the capacity to keep them in jail ..............
  8. ^ Shame he could not manage to tell a good convincing lie against Somaliland. Just shows how ill-informed and amateur these forum politicians are;)
  9. Brother Chimera A European Union style open borders with full economic, political, judicial, and security collaboration among three independent democratic Somali nation states namely Djibouti, Somaliland, and Somalia is and has been what the people and the successive Somaliland governemnts were calling for all these 22 years. Wadani Whether you like it or not borderline unionists like you have no say in Somaliland:p It is the Tallaabos, Xaaji Xunjufs, and their like who call the shots. Stand in line waaryaa:cool:
  10. In my opinion the Sharia law: 1. Promotes peace, righteousness, tolerance, harmony, and justice 2. Makes the welfare of the poor and weak the corner stone of the economic structure of the Islamic society 3. Promotes the wellbeing of families by prioritising the rights of the women and children. 4. Promotes respect and love for one’s parents, relatives, and friends. 5. Promotes animal welfare, environmental protection, and discourages excessive consumerism 6. Promotes the morality and modesty of the individual. 7. Promotes education and open mindedness. 8. Promotes good work ethics and discourages laziness. 7. Promotes politeness and good neighbourliness 8. Discourages greed, deception, and bad business practices The sharia law is about the wellbeing of the society, the family, and the individual and so those who are against the Sharia law are also against the aforementioned values.

  12. He looks very presidential, very photogenic.
  13. But Nuune don't you think the Habashi army will behave very well towards the people since their dirty work is being done by the Liyu police?
  14. nuune;944838 wrote: ^^ Tallaabo ma fahmayo waxa aad qortey yaa Che , another word my Tallaabo friend, the Habashis just sit there and the dirty work is done by the Liyu police, the Habashis wey nasteen and even their casualties in recent years wey yaraatey to zero, little you will hear ONLF ayaa dishey Habashi saldhigooda ku xareysan ama jid socota, it is all done by Liyu, whether fighting against ONLF, or terrorizing the normal people, the Habashis are in their military compound, thanks to Melez, he devised and invented these guys together with the stooge Abdi Iley in Jigjiga. Waaryaa don't assume I am ignorant about what is going on there. I know it well.
  15. You are right about the Ethiopian army, they are equally guilty. In my statement about the civilised Ethiopians I meant the ordinary people on the steets and not the army. So I was advising Saffrez to worry more about the Liyu police and less about the Ethiopian men on streets. Sad but true.
  16. I hope a proper judicial process was followed and the accused were presented the full evidence of their crimes before they were executed. Alle ha u naxariisto dhamaantood.
  17. Che What trap are you talking about? Are you telling me the Liyu police are not how I described them? Nuune Stop Oromising Somali names. It is Diri Dhabe and not Diri Dawa. I hate to hear that Oromised name:mad:
  18. Mad_Mullah;944624 wrote: The Ethiopians aren't the problem it's the disgusting Faaraxs (Liyu police) they'll do anything to satisfy their Habashi masters. Exactly, my advice for the sister is not to worry about the Amharas, Tigrey, Oromos, and other Ethiopians in Addis and elsewhere, indeed I found them to be very civilised but my major concern is about the barbarian, blood thirsty, rapists dogs who call themselves Liyu “police”. They have no shame, no morality, no principles, no values, and no sense of loyalty to their own kind. They raped, killed, and maimed so many of their people so for that reason I am really worried about sister Safferz.
  19. I like is xagxagashada SOL ka dhacda;) I think the two leaders spoke well about what they agreed on and what the problem areas are. I hope this professional way of negotiating and sorting things out continues into the future for everyone's sake.

  21. Wadani;944508 wrote: Huh? Did u forget dagaalkii maryo-aloolka? Our unfortunate 1996 civil war was not about independence of Somaliland, rather it was about resource sharing among the rival clans and Somaliland's political structure. Cigaal as usual behaved like a strongman and started the conflict thinking he could force people to submit to his government unconditionally. But eventually the Cigaal government and the opposing tribe learned their lessons the hard way and made their way to the negotiating table. I think the civil war was a useful lesson for Somaliland and because of it we are more united and stronger today.
  22. Ms Safferz, I strongly advise you to ditch your camera for your security sake and never go alone to places especially at night. Make sure you have got locals to accompany you at all times. This is not North America but an unstable part of Africa.
