1. I wish that was true, but Somali women are even more tribalist than men. I'm all for giving them 1/2 of all positions, they earned it and more but I'm not naive enough to think that will change things dramatically.
2. @Gediid said: Yes they do my friend. Add the Guurti and you get that number ...by the way admin great job on the new look. 164 MPs! Who do they think they are, New Hampshire?
3. What do you expect? The south is dependent on foreign troops, and the Juba was formed as power play by the Kenyans and their allies. If AMISOM suddenly decided to withdraw I'd expect far bigger demonstrations as the terrorists will recapture everything in few months.
4. Is it true that some ministers already resigned?

Too white and bright, no boundaries between comments and some of the font colours (grey, red) are not clear.
6. The comments in SomlilandPress are very illuminating. You can dream about secession from Somalia all you want but you can't get Somalia out of you.
7. I don't think there will be a civil war in Somaliland if they separated but there will be some skirmishes for resources. It could turn into a civil war if they went full Somali mode and the sub clan multiparty democracy went out of control.

10. An article with potential ruined by ad hominem.
11. Beautiful smart kids, but isn't there another thread more suited for this.

I have to agree, the letter is extremely unprofessional unless it was memo between two governmental agencies (and it wasn't supposed to be published). i hope it's false, only because the second hand embarrassment will be extremely palpable.
13. I still think a clan based multiparty system is a bad idea, but that's what the west like and that's what they will get. If there wasn't unifying purpose ( ironically secession) things would be worse.
14. (Reuters) - An economist based at the Islamic Development Bank in Saudi Arabia is favourite to be named Somalia's new prime minister, sources in the presidential palace said, after his predecessor was forced out by lawmakers in a vote of no confidence. The palace sources, and another with connections to the former premier, named the front-running candidate as Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed, 54, from Somalia's southern Gedo region. A Western diplomat also said Ahmed looked set to be named. "Today, we got the news that Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed would be named as prime minister," one palace source said on Thursday. The sources said Ahmed's appointment could come within 24 hours. Analysts said the swift installment of a new prime minister was critical to ending weeks of political paralysis in the insurgency-hit nation as it struggles to cement a fragile recovery. Western donors had fretted a prolonged vacuum at the head of government would disrupt efforts to rebuild state institutions and defeat al Qaeda-linked militants who control swathes of rural southern and central Somalia. (according to Twitter announcements) Dr. Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed is a Somali-Canadian, a graduate of Somali Faculty of Economics; studied Economy at University of Ottawa, Canada. He was born in Bardhere in 1959. He's an economist (PHD holder) who worked with the Islamic Bank in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia & IGAD. It would be great to start a new thread about this guy and his profile. http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/12/12/uk-somalia-politics-idUKBRE9BB0O820131212 Why not start it yourself even if it is a rumor.
16. if only it was that simple. The article doesn't make any sense that I'm starting to think this guy was writing to non Somallis.

Even the Chinese before they manufactured any thing they used to assemble other peoples parts. it is a good start , you gain the knowledge slowly. they could produce cheaper cars for the people. That's true, let's hope they hire local people instead of importing labour from China.

You asked me a question and I answered you, I didn't insult you or Somaliland so i'm surprised by your outburst (you don't have to lose you temper for nothing). This is a forum if everyone agreed on everything then we can't call it that. The future of Somalia and Somaliland is important to me since I'm part them, you have your aspirations and I have mine and one of those aspirations will come true.

He mentioned the Montevideo convention which uses an archaic definition of statehood from the league of nations. 3. He gave plethora of reasons to support the separation of Somaliland or confederation but gave only a single reason against it. Hints
