@Saalax said: Siilaanyo gets robbed again. He gave Garaad Salebaan a couple of cars as a way to try and bribe him but failed. I call this the "Ankh Morpork" from Discworld policy, the people there great whoever claims their land with flags and celebration and say "hail to the conquering heroes" and when the other guys come they do the same.

Hope may fade because of incompetence and tribalism.

Although I understand the frustration and sense of helplessness, the whole post reeks of the same things you are decrying galbeedi. -
In virus hunt, Saudi Arabia suspects African camel imports
Homunculus replied to ElPunto's topic in General
If the source of the virus was the horn of Africa then why aren't people getting sick there? I think that they are trying to find a scapegoatcamel. -
SW3 & SW6 Merged Into 1 SW3 Administration. A Victory 4 Locals
Homunculus replied to Dr_Osman's topic in Politics
Instead of fighting this the same way you fought Jubbaland, why not try to expand the boundaries of mogadishu (or Banaadir)? Try to include more of the surrounding areas and make it a federal district similar to Washington DC but with all the voting powers of a federal state. I'm having a sense of Déjà vu all over again, the more violently you resist something the worse will be the backfire. -
SW3 & SW6 Merged Into 1 SW3 Administration. A Victory 4 Locals
Homunculus replied to Dr_Osman's topic in Politics
I hate to say it but when it comes to politics Puntland is getting its way, it's too bad that when it comes to natural resources they are screwed. No foreign company wants to navigate governmental layers to exploit things. -

The more international airlines the better, hopefully soon there will be more direct flight from countries where there is a big Somali diaspora. -
Somali Poet Ladan Osman has won this year’s Sillerman First Book Prize for African poetry with her collection, The Kitchen Dweller’s Testimony. This follows from last year’s inaugural win by Kenyan Clifton Gachagua for his Madman at Kilifi. Readers of this blog will not be strangers to my love for Somali literature and this win by another Somali following Warsan Shire’s Brunel African poetry prize win last year, goes to remove all doubt about the art of that country in the east. I’m elated there is a new Somali poet whose works I will be looking forward to and reading through the year. Read my post Celebrating Somalia (yes, Celebrating!) and the poem I Think About you, Mogadishu.

I hope that this will start the healing process, it's not about who was there first it should be about how to better the lives of everyone there. -
C'mon Somaliland, get your $#!* together, subclan line demarcation in this time and age, you'll never have a future this way.

The Measles outbreak might have started in the Somali community.
Homunculus replied to Homunculus's topic in General
@Che -Guevara said: "An Outbreak of Measles in an Undervaccinated Community" Yeah, I remember hearing about this outbreak back in 2011, many Somali families stopped vaccinating their kids after the explosion of autistic Somali cases, but if you're going to Kenya shouldn't you immunize your kid, there are much worse diseases than Measles. Also, the vaccination link to autism was debunked a long time ago, for the percentage of vaccinated kids to increase even after that happened is tragic. Schools should start prohibiting unvaccinated kids from going to schools unless they are vaccinated. -
The source was a 30-month-old US-born child of Somali descent infected while visiting Kenya. Measles spread in several settings, and over 3000 individuals were exposed. Sixteen case-patients were unvaccinated; 9 of the 16 were age-eligible: 7 of the 9 had safety concerns and 6 were of Somali descent. MMR vaccine coverage among Somali children declined significantly from 2004 through 2010 starting at 91.1% in 2004 and reaching 54.0% in 2010 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24913790

Galbeedi, that really paints Somali's (and Saudi's)in bad light, and to think Alpha Blondy called me a self hater.
-
@Alpha Blondy said: i disagree. Nigerian coach Stephen Keshi is actually good. he's fixed a lot of the institutional qalooc plighted by African football. you'd rather they were managed by whites, ma laha? I'm curious what made you think that I wanted them to be coached by a white guy? Anyway, based on their game they lack discipline and they don't play like a team, lacking resources is a fact of life for an African team I even read somewhere that the Ghanian team were angry that their FIFA money didn't get to them.
-
In the world cup the most organized teams are usually the best, African teams don't have the resources or the coaching to make cohesive teams despite being choke full or stars (didn't you hear about the mutinies in the Ghanian and and Cameroonian teams). I also don't see the urgency in their game, they don't play passionately like they are representing their countries (I'm sure most of them haven't been back home since they started playing in Europe) or maybe they are trying to avoid to getting injured.

^^^^ I think I might be leaning towards conformity and the rule of law rather than individuality and the penchant of Anglo-Saxons to continually disrupt things. That's why sometimes I wish That Somalia have something similar to the Mormon church (without the crazy beliefs), these guys take organized religion to a whole new level. Yes it will sacrifice creativity, but i'm the sort of person who prefers order above all.
-
^^^ You don't have to insult me for stating an opinion, I'm not a self-hating Somali and I didn't even compare cultures. Somalia's culture have a lot to admire but the civil war destroyed most of it and I'm glad that the Turks are helping the people down south since they are an enlightened group of moderate Muslims. Alpha Blondy I noticed that you are an angry person, you don't need to imagine the worst in every person, before you write something try to think first and see if it doesn't reflect badly on you. It's a difficult task I know but you will reap many benefits if you think first before acting.

For me its the Japanese culture, a culture of respect and order. Everything they do is a piece of art, there food is exquisite and their (music, anime, technology) is conquering the world. What I love the most is their respect for the elderly and their tendency to be the most obedient citizens. They are declining a little bit since they are getting older and their fear for foreigners is understandable since they were isolated for 1500 years, but a culture that produces fans who clean a stadium after a world cup game is worthy of admiration.

Who Are The ISIL ( Islamic State of Iraq and The Levant)
Homunculus replied to CidanSultan's topic in Politics
Leave it to Cidan to proclaim that there is an Islamic resurgence when we are now at our lowest point, those savages are beheading people for being from a different sect and are committing crimes that are so revolting that calling them Muslims is embarrassing. I've a feeling the rest of the world is going to colonize Mars while we argue which village belongs to which clan. -
Puntland Vice President: Somaliland is a safe haven for terrorists Alshabab
Homunculus replied to Mooge's topic in Politics
Both Somaliland and Puntland are trying to undermine each other and it's working. Though there is no concrete evidence that connects Somaliland with Godane other than his origin and Somaliland being spared from his attacks, this persistent media assault by Puntland will leave a mark. Somaliland is waging the same propaganda war but unfortunately for them they have higher stakes in protecting their reputation than Puntland because of their ambitions to secede. -
Breaking News: Djibouti attacked by terrorists!

let's get serious for a moment and remember that Djibouti is the HQ of American forces and that targeting and causing instability there will surely cause a response. -

Let's hope nobody died and the injured survive. Did anyone claim responsibility? No need to give credit to Shabaab, but if they did it I expect many drones flying over the south in the near future. -
