The innocent will be killed with these brutes running about, it's either them or the savages. You can only rehabilitate so many. We should focus on the young and those who have been disenfranchised over the decades but whatever is left over will be damaged goods.

Wadani;882647 wrote: There is a significant minority of the population in the south of Somalia that has been reduced to sheer savagery as a result of the perpetual civil war raging in the country for the last two decades. Bringing these subhumans in the article to justice is a must, but i'm afraid it won't serve as a strong enough deterrent to this new tier of degenerate Somalis, who fear niether God, public humiliation nor death. The logistics of permanently jailing so many sociopaths in Somalia will be a daunting task. There will likely be a need for a fair bit of extra-judicial killings in the next few years.
  4. Ottawa forces Eritrea to nix ‘2% extortion tax’ on citizens in Canada The government of Eritrea has agreed to stop collecting a controversial “diaspora tax” at its consulate in Toronto after the Department of Foreign Affairs threatened to send home the repressive African regime’s only diplomat in Canada. The consulate had been soliciting a 2% income tax and mandatory “donations” for its military from Eritreans living in Canada. The RCMP and United Nations have reported that those who refused to pay were subjected to threats, intimidation and coercion. Read More
  5. I think people fail to realize how massive our country is. Our population, whether it be 8 or 17 million is rather small, but lean (young population). Economic gains in the agriculture, livestock and fishery sectors alone would provide massive revenues for nation building. The only issue that needs to be dealt with in Somalia as well as every other African nation, is integration. The difference between a subsistence cattle herder in Ethiopia and a rancher in Alberta is that the rancher knows what his product is worth and can sell his byproducts to other sectors (leather for skin, bone for gelatin and cosmetics etc.). The business community needs to educate farmers and livestock owners, so that they may make greater profits and purchase technology and business acumen that staves off the effects of the ever-common drought. As Chimera has stated, our small population will mean the effects of economic growth will be more potent.
  6. I reserve a special kind of hatred for anyone willing to use land mines.
  7. When will people shut the **** up about the oil already? If you don't like foreign oil companies drilling in the region, then rent your own damn rig and go over there. No to the criminalisation and scapegoating of the Somali community in Britain. That one seems out of context. Did someone just throw that in at the last moment?
  8. We're at it's death-bed at this moment, but I still think a lot needs to be done before we can confidently close this chapter.
  9. Didn't feel this one. This eartquake was in Maine right? There was another one near Montreal this week, they're probably linked.
  10. Affirmative was intended for the underprivileged(mainly African-Americans). By the principles of equality, shouldn't it be based solely on income? Pushing a few students through school to meet quotas isn't going to fix anything. I think Universities are about 10-15 times larger than they should be to begin with, and you can see it in the quality of the student body.

I agree with the crux of your post. The arrogance and blind pride on the part of the OP is why Somalia is the way it is.

Leezu;880054 wrote: How many Jareers live in Somalia nowadays. I want a 99% ethnic Somali state. Not a country that will eventually have problems and might even become minority in its own country because of the black peoples reproducing speed ... I don't think anyone is capable of outdoing Somalis in that respect. I think we can actually learn a lot from Somali Bantus. They have managed to miraculously avoid rampant slaughter and tend to work rather hard. We need to focus solely on them at this critical stage, so that we may study this abhorrent 'civilized' behavior. Using this newly gained knowledge, we can avoid the terrible fate that is peace. P.S. If being a multi-ethnic country will cause problems in the future, I can make an educated guess as to which ethnic group will be the cause of them (Hint: they look like you).
  13. I'm happy with some of the progress being made now. Most want a quick fix (the oil fanaticism is a great example), but I'm willing to become part of a 'lost' generation that never gets to fully experience the fruits of their labour. Then again, I'm typing from a computer in Canada, so I might be a bit biased.

I'm confused as to why the percentages used for employment between the U.S and U.K samples weren't kept even. Unless there's only 10 employed Somali persons in all of the U.K

  17. I agree with BoldNewSomali. Somalis have a tendency to look down on certain jobs. Even in famine stricken Somalia, you have employ Bantu Somalis in labour intensive construction jobs. My father is a perfect example, having turned down several job opportunities over the years, choosing instead to remain on social assistance until he finally received an office job. If you don't believe me, go to Edmonton. Somalis moved there in droves because of the oil boom, except they don't even bother to work in the trades. They then complain about the lack available jobs for their 'community', this is followed by a spate of shootings involving young Somalis and the subsequent appearance of self appointed leaders on television requesting money to the tune of $ 2 million (which they got) for a gym and basketball program.

If not, I think you should at the very least give credit to the original photographer, I saw all of these photos on Skyscrapercity (don't know if they're originally from that forum). Back on topic. Infrastructure development in Mogadishu will be hell on earth considering the lack of planning and zoning in the city. After numerous land surveys are completed. Large swaths of land near the hills and other strategic areas will have to be purchased and cleared to make way for sewage pumping stations, water treatment plants and electric sub-stations. This doesn't even include the future piping for water mains, drainage/ storm drains and telecommunications infrastructure. I know all of this stuff is years away, but we need to set the stage for the future by instituting and enforcing building regulations NOW.

It's ridiculous saaxib When our country looks the way it is, we can't claim anyone is more violent than us. There's also the fact that Somalis are predominantly Muslim as well. We're also a target as we essentially have an open door policy when it comes to immigration.
  23. Mintid Farayar;877116 wrote: Baashi, This is another example of how Somali jockeying for local political gains can have detrimental effects. The involvement of Erik Prince(an avowed anti-Muslim American multi-millionaire of Blackwater fame who contributed greatly to the current mayhem in both Iraq and Afghanistan) and Afrikaners(South Africans of Dutch descent, the core constituency behind apartheid) is worrisome. Both have a less than stellar past in the Muslim world and black Africa (respectively). Also, alarming (in my humble perspective) is the Somali tendency to uphold the monarchies of the Arab Gulf as role models of governance and advancement (i.e. the continuous Somali admiration of Dubai and its surrounding Emirates for their infrastructure development, based upon trickle down oil revenues). Unfortunately, in a globally interconnected world, the under-educated, under-exposed Somalis will increasingly face these types of problems . Lastly, this problem I've described above is not unique to Puntland in the Somali peninsula. Thirty plus years of civil war has negatively affected the past Somali trait of proud, bordering on xenophobia, leadership... +50,000!
