  1. Classified, again....You're doing some severe speculation here. There are plenty of Somali girls and guys who are Muslims, who still go out to party sometimes. I'm gonna say that virtually every member of this forum has been to some sort of a party at some point in their lives. Stop this judging and stop trying to characterize this young lady. Remember: The Believer searches for excuses for his Muslim brother when his brother commits a sin. While the Hypocrite searches for his brother's faults. I have friends who have been to jail before, and you never see me trying to characterize them or doubt their Islam. And right now you're looking at this young lady's faults, which is a sign of hypocrisy. Before you even get yourself involved in such arguments, learn some proper etiquette first. Learn proper adab, learn to be polite, to be forgiving, and to overlook your Muslim brother's faults. We all make mistakes, and you're attempting to highlight Houda's minor mistakes when she's already dead. She's your Muslim Somali sister and all you can think about is posting pictures of her at a party and then speculating if she's not Muslim. That's disgusting. These speculations won't help her, it won't help her family, and it will only alienate you from others in this forum. P.S. And no, you cannot "plead the 5th" because that's an Amendment of the US Constitution (which is a non-muslim agreement)
  2. Safferz;988277 wrote: I love this thread because most people are just pulling numbers out of their arses, with no explanation whatsoever and feeling no need to provide evidence. Somalis :D There's 5 million Somalis in North America and another 10 million in Europe. I know this because my Upti Liban told me this, and he never lies! Never!
  3. What really gets to most of us, is that this girl Houda Rafle looks exactly the same as many other Somali girls that we know and that we're close to. The way she talks, the way she carries herself. She's a typical North-American Somali female. That's what makes this story so upsetting to most of us, because it really shows you that this can happen to any one of us. It could be your sister or your classmate or your cousin. Make dua for her. And inshaAllah she is rewarded by God
  4. Classified, wouldn't it be a better idea to just give her the benefit of the doubt? You don't know her, and no one on this forum knows her. And those pictures you posted of her, is of her at some party. Which is something practically every Somali in North America has been to. It means nothing These type of things are better left not talking about.
  5. Guleed there's nothing that I said that you actually disagreed with. It's a fact that Egypt is a nation with an awful economy and few opportunities. All this goes to show is the horrendous mismanagement and incompetence of Mubarak, Sadat, and Nasser when these men squandered the incredible potential of Egypt and drained the country of it's resources. The large number of Egyptians who are educated, many of them can't even find work in their field and the job market is terrible. Again, this is the fault of the entire system of government. May Allah return Egypt to what it once was, and raise their status again. Ameen
  6. This news almost made me sick to my stomach. Cancer can take you out at any age, Allahunaxaristu to Houda and may He grant patience to her family
  7. Khadafi you're right in the sense that "Islamist" can mean anything from an Al Qaeda supporter, to an Ikhwan member, to an AKP supporter, to anything in between. And sometimes it's rather a vague term. The AKP of Turkey would be considered secular if they were in another country, like Saudi Arabia for example. I don't believe that everything is going to be perfect, that if we move towards Islam everything is going to be perfect and fine. But it'll be in the right direction. And a government that implements these ideals fully or even partially would be a great improvement. And the people themselves need to live a life in accordance to it. Not just the government, but the people themselves should be more inclined to their religion. People get the government they deserve. And if the people are upstanding, then it'll be easy for the government to be upstanding as well. And I agree with you, that Malaysia is an excellent country to emulate. Egyptian cultural influence is minimal compared to 40 or 50 years ago, but Egypt over the past couple decades has been reduced to nothing more than a tourist destination. It's not a world power, they don't have a vibrant economy, and the Westerners know Egypt as nothing more than a land with ancient artefacts and museums. That's what Egypt has been reduced to. We both see the problem, we're just trying to understand why it's like this, and how would they change course
  8. Saalax;988027 wrote: Arabs might be lazy but they are in a better position than Somalis. Lost to Ethiopia in 1977 and their so called "shifta uprising" was crashed by Kenya. I'm sure the Somali Army of 1977 didn't consist of Northerners (Somalis originating from Hargeisa and Berbera) at all. The entire Somali Army of 1977 consisted of southerners and that's why they lost the war. All 70 000 of them. And you wonder why you're always trashed and insulted on this forum? You do this to yourself wallahi, have some self-respect
  9. I guess this is what wealth does to some people, it turns them arrogant and makes them lose any sense of empathy or compassion. We should definitely pressure the Gulf Arab Governments to clamp down on this behavior and prevent it from spreading.
  10. The proportion of veiled woman to the rest of the population is so unbelievably low that I'm shocked that this is even up for debate. It seems like the Quebecois want to pre-emptively prevent women from dressing in a niqaab if they so choose. Same thing happened in France, despite the fact that there's only a few hundred Niqabis in the entire country of 60 million people. The number of Niqabis are so small it's not worth mentioning, but look how they turned it into a huge national debate. It's pathetic.
  11. Khadafi;987785 wrote: Ditoore, I dont know if you have ever been to Egypt but nobody forbids you to pray in the mosque, Though if your trying to get power, weather your an islamist, secular or communist whats certain that you will rot in some prison cell. If Sheikhs were the answer then Saudia Arabia would be answer right? The constitution of Saudia Arabia is as they say 100% based upon Sharia. Just as your video of Qaradawi, I do agree with him that we have not seen even a needle being produced by the gulf. Nassers Egypt was not 100% perfect but during his time the arabs could draw some inspiration from it. They (Egyptians) have gone from inspiration to zero influence. Remember that Egypt is the bread basket and cultural capital of the arab World. Khadafi I never claimed that people are forbidden to pray at the mosque. And no, Saudi Arabia is not based on anything; just because someone is claiming it, doesn't make it true. Saudi Arabia deserves to be criticized as do all the other countries I've mentioned. And when we acknowledge the fact that Arabs don't even produce a single car, or a plane, or a ship, you have to ask yourself why it's like this. And why these countries are so destitute. And Sheikh Qaradawi gave the answer. It's because of laziness and ineptitude, and because they turned away from their religion. And Egypt was not even 30% perfect during the time of Nasser and Sadat. Their countries were still poor, they still never produced anything, and they were whipped by the Israelis in several wars. They had nothing to boast about, and the reason why you may think this is because Nasser was a charismatic leader. But charisma doesn't mean results. And he got no results I know you agree with me and Haatu here But this is so seriously off-topic. This is way too off-topic.
  12. I meant collectively, all 1.5 billion of us. I didn't mean Somalis. Yes, I've seen many hard-working Somalis. And we have a much stronger work ethic than many communities. We're also a very entrepreneurial people as well.
  13. But the number of Somali Christians are so insignificant that you almost don't wanna mention it. They're too few and far between. You're more likely to meet a White American Cowboy in the streets of Galkaacyo than meet a Somali Christian
  14. Haatu;987664 wrote: Have you ever been to the Arab countries or spoken to someone from there? Those guys don't work at all. They bob into work around 10 then leave at lunchtime and don't return. No surprise the Iranians have a bigger economy, they at least work. I never seen a people as lazy and with a worse work ethic as the Arabs. These guys don't work at all. I remember going to a few of the Arab countries, and you see nothing but thousands of Arabs sitting down in cafes, smoking on shisha pipes, watching soccer games, reading magazines and gossiping! These people don't work at all! And they wonder why their countries aren't doing well, they wonder why their countries don't manufacture anything and they're not respected. It's just terrible when you think about it. And the same goes for a lot of the Muslims in India and Bangladesh! It's our own fault why we're in the predicament we're in. The Germans work their butts off, so do the Japanese. And look how powerful and prosperous these countries are. Imagine if we were the same way.
  15. ^^ Safferz, he was being sarcastic looool. Haatu wasn't serious
  16. It's strange how the Iranians have a superior economy than the Arabs, even with these crippling economic sanctions. The Arabs really do have a lot to learn. Nowadays, they would rather smoke shisha and watch a FIFA Soccer game than actually get up and start building their countries. They don't produce anything at all. Just look at this short video. This Sheikh is blasting and criticizing the people for why the Arab countries are so weak. It's painful to watch: This video summarizes some of the reasons why the Arabs are so weak nowadays.
  17. Jacpher;987636 wrote: You do realize Muslims ain't a country name. The people that follow the religion of Islam call themselves Muslims, not in a particular land or region. Jacpher, if Naxar Nugaaleed is perfectly fine with Islam being banned in Angola, to the point where Muslims are prevented from practicing their own religion, that not only takes him out of Islam but he's an actual Islamophobe. Plain and simple There's no use in reasoning with the likes of him.
  18. Khadafi;987625 wrote: What's sad in this imperial game is the loss of Egypt with it's former glory within the Arab world. How dwarfed they have become since Nassers time. Since Nassers time? You mean when the Israelis single-handedly defeated the Egyptians, Syrians and the Jordanians in SIX DAYS back in 1967? What former glory? The Israelis humiliated the Arabs repeatedly for the past several decades, and it's painful to watch. I firmly believe that the reason why the Egyptians and the rest of the Arabs are in the state they're in.....is because they turned away from their religion and they sought to establish secular states, burying Islam so as to make it irrelevant. You've seen them establish their secular political parties (such as the infamous Ba'ath Party of Iraq and Syria) and look at what these policies have achieved in the region! Nothing but instability, poor economic performance, wars and the like. Men such as Gamal Abdel Nasser, Anwar Sadat, Muammar Gaddafi, Saddam Hussein, Hafez Assad, Hosni Mubarak, Yasser Arafat were all secular Arabs who have achieved nothing noteworthy for their people. Their nations are nothing like Iran and can't even be compared to them. Countries like Egypt are in absolute poverty where the GDP per capita is something like $3000 per year (which is pathetic) and there is nothing good which these leaders have achieved. The Arab nations of today are nothing like the Arabs of 1000 years ago. The Arab nations today are not respected by anyone, they don't produce anything and they have little power. Maybe they can finally get a much needed wake-up call.
  19. Yes exactly. This entire development is a huge loss to the Sunni Saudis, a huge loss to the Israelis, but a major win for the Shias and major win for the Iranians and the Americans and the Russians. President Rouhani is nothing like his predecessor Ahmedinejad, who was seen as a bit of a nutcase. The Americans will probably reach out to the new, and more "reasonable" President of Iran. And I think the Ayatollahs are totally fine with this too. The Americans don't have the patience or will to fight a new war in the Middle East so they're gonna have to reach an accommodation with the Iranians. And since America shares a LOT more in common with Iran than it does with Saudi Arabia, this shouldn't be too difficult to accomplish.
  20. The Iranians definitely got a great deal, and I really believe that within the next several years, the USA and Iran are going to reach some sort of accommodation, similar to what happened between the USA and China in 1972 (when the two countries finally acknowledged each other). Seems like the Americans are finally putting their own interests ahead of Israel's.
  21. What a dumb move politically. This will only further isolate Angola and draw the animosity of all 57 Islamic nations. I would imagine that Muslims would even go as far as cutting diplomatic ties with the Angolans and refusing to do business with them. And imagine what would happen if Angola were bordering a Muslim state, a war would be inevitable.

  24. ^^You and I know both know that the Somali Police (most of them) are nothing more than thugs in uniform. Man I thought the Kenyan Police were bad, but the Somali cops take it to a whole another level. This type of stuff shouldn't surprise any of us
