1. @Alpha Blondy said: ok. why didn't you tell me? Maybe it's because you anger and annoy everyone you meet online. (Me, Tallaabo, Tillamook, others) And you creep out anyone you meet in person (Safferz) I guess human interaction isn't something you're very good at
2. ^^ Maybe the Ruling Party wants to transition away from Siilanyo and have a new face, so therefore their new candidate can get elected as the new President of Somaliland? Why have the other party have a turn in governing the country when you can just have another new face to replace Siilanyo and his political party can continue ruling the country after the old man retires? I could be wrong though
3. Galbeedi, do you think more needs to be done to punish the sub-clans who are known for leaning towards Al Shabab? Should the Federal Government (under a New President) put incredible pressure on these clans, including--but not limited to--imprisoning the clan elders, executing those who are known to give material support to Al Shabab, and giving incentives for them to support the Federal Government? If the current Government refrained from executing Hassan Dahir Aweys simply because of his sub-clan protecting him, then why didn't the President grow some balls and execute Dahir Aweys anyways? Send a message to the rest of Al Shabab sympathizers that this behavior won't be tolerated in Somalia. What was his sub-clan gonna do, other than complain and criticize the Government? This President should've been able to call their bluff. But there seriously needs to be an Establishment of a competent Somali Intelligence Agency, and a Somali Secret Service which takes the fight to these terrorists, punishes those who support Al Shabaab, and gives incentives for certain clans to support the Federal Government. I would favor a National Conscription Policy where the Army and Navy of Somalia recruit a man from each and every household in Somalia.
4. Perhaps, perhaps not. I would hope that it doesn't intensify. But having the 2 Somali States hate each other and see each other as rivals, that might be the case for the first 20-30 years. But it could change, hopefully. Perhaps in the meantime, this animosity could translate into a competition between the two states, where they'll compete on which one has a better standard of living, which country has a richer economy, which country has better cities, etc.
5. Xaaji, there's a huge difference between the sentiments of the regular citizenry, and ACTUAL Government Policy! The 2 Koreas have animosity towards each other due to actual government policy. You have the Communist Authoritarian North Koreans on 1 side and you have the capitalist democratic South Koreans on the other side. The governments directly clash, and are still technically at war. But if the Somalilanders and Somalis dislike each other, as long as their is independence on both sides, and as long as the 2 Governments don't do anything to attempt to undermine each other, then after some time the hard feelings will dissipate. As long as the borders of the 2 countries are drawn clearly, and each country obeys the law, then it doesn't matter if the citizens of each country hates the other. Because people's feelings change with time, and it can't be compared to official government policy. It can't be compared to our situation.
6. @Xaaji Xunjuf said: O'gaden communities they dont even use the Somali name and wish to create an O'gaden state ONLF movement once they fight do you really think they fought xabashis and free themselves, if they will allow Mogadishu to lord over them. NFD wishes to remain part of Kenya and they are doing fine there. We Know Djibouti to If the O'gaden State in Ethiopia frees itself from Ethiopian rule, and becomes it's own independent state, then that's all well and good. It's not necessary that they come under the rule of Mogadishu at all. An independent land-locked Somali O'gaden State, with good relations with Somaliland/Somalia/Djibouti/etc.
7. Yet for some reason you don't extend the same courtesy to Abdiweli Gaas or others you might happen to dislike. What's with the double standard?
8. @Xaaji Xunjuf said: The pirates are terrified of Amiir Godane Do I sense a small sense of respect you have for this Godane character? And why do you refer to him as "Amiir"
9. @Allyourbase said: Kulaahaa thanks Ileyn dadkani xishood malaha. In case you and your little cheerleader dont know, this is an online discussion forum, a virtual space if you like. There is no 'elimination' or chasing out of no one, it is not the Wahabi utopia Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan so chill out my little wahabis. Enjoy drinking camel's urine and dreaming of bedding multiple virgins in Jannah, for that is all you are capable of. Warya shut up
10. Xaaji, I've said it before. How can you blame a whole new generation of Koonfurians for the misguided and stupid actions of Abdiqasim, Ali Mahdi, Qoslaaye and others? If anything, Koonfurians hate Qoslaaye more than you do. Because his weak leadership and incompetence is dragging us back as a nation. And each year Somalia is in a Civil War, is a year in which we could have undergone development and caught up to the rest of Africa. They care little about Reer Puntland or Reer Galmudug or Reer Bay&Bakool. They would be the first ones to sell out their country for their own personal benefit. And if Somaliland cares for its people more than the Mogadishu regime does, then good for them. Perhaps this could set an example to the rest of Somalis. But you know very well that no real negotiations can take place until Somalia actually has a new generation of leaders, and a legitimate Government which has full control over the country. After that happens, the crimes of Abdiqasim and Qoslaaye would seem irrelevant. These men belong to a certain era, and in the future history books, they'll be seen as what they are; opportunists and incompetent leaders. So then why would there be animosity and hatred between the 2 Somali States? There'd be no basis for it, as people could rightfully point out that Somalia hasn't really existed as a State since 1991. If anything, in the volatile region, there would be more of a reason for cooperation between the 2 Somali States.
11. Xaaji, then why are you making it appear that Somaliland is the only one that's suffering due to the incompetence and dishonesty of the Mogadishu regime? Hundreds of thousands of RRA folks have died in the civil war, their numbers were decimated by violence, disease and famine. And do you really think the Mogadishu Regime gives a damn about them? You're not singled out at all. Why do you make it seem that Somaliland/Somalia relations will be tense relations just like North Korea/South Korea relations? On what basis? On the actions of the deceased dictator Siad Barre? On the actions of the incompetent Abdiqasim or Qoslaaye? The day the Koonfurians actually have a competent Federal Government, is the day we can sit down with Somaliland and work out our common interests, like adults. And if separation is necessary, than separation can be worked out. And we can have common partnerships and diplomatic relations. But don't make it look like Somaliland being unrecognized for all these years has anything to do with this worldwide conspiracy to keep the Reer Waqooyi suppressed. You know that's not true. We can't be compared to South Korea/North Korea relations
12. Xaaji, this "paper government" you're referring to couldn't even control a few city blocks without the help of the AMISOM. So why even bring them up. It's not like they looked out for the interests of the RRA Clan, or the Puntlanders, so why do you suddenly expect them to look out for the interests of Somaliland? Why do you expect a corrupt government official in Mogadishu to give a DAMN about you or your well-being? And then you get mad when you realize this. Don't expect anything from anyone. If corrupt government officials in Mogadishu don't look out for the interests of Somaliland, then you should console yourself with the fact that they don't care about Somalia either. They're just as quick to sell out their own country for a few dollars, yet you want to negotiate with the likes of them? There is hostility all around in Somalia. The clans hate each other all-around. So don't get upset that some people in Mogadishu don't exactly have a good opinion of you. Ask them for their opinion on Puntlanders or RRA folks and they'll say a lot of the same stuff. Ask a Barawe Somali or a Reer Xamar or a Bajuuni Somali and he'll tell you about the discrimination and abuse he gets from the locals. But all you're focused on is yourself. You think the ENTIRE world is out to get you for far-fetched reasons. You don't put yourself in the shoes of Koonfurians. The Horn of Africa does NOT revolve around you, and there are far bigger issues confronting the regular folks in Koonfurta than worrying about the technicalities of legal separation of Somaliland. If you have a problem, have it with the AU. But Somalia doesn't exist as a State and you know that.
13. A little healthy animosity never hurt anyone Xaaji. The Swedes and Finns don't really like each other either. A lot of Lebanese tell me how they can't stand Jordanians. It's the funniest thing actually We have a lot less issues to work out, and you really have no right to complain about "not being recognized" since Somalia hasn't had a real Government since Siad Barre's Administration. You even say so yourself. So any "talks" regarding a mutual agreement of secession won't be taken seriously by the people until we actually have effective governance in the South. You're negotiating with a Failed State.
14. LOL Thanks saaxib. I couldn't allow their ridiculous ideas to go unchallenged. Their copy-and-paste tactics were tiresome to deal with. And there are other guys I know personally who are 10x better than me when it comes to addressing these sorts of topics. Ameen. Wax wanagsan waye.
15. @SomaliaRising said: Sxb my mowqiif is cut and clear. I cannot stand traitors, weither they be hags puntis or snm. I will always support United Somalia under Shariahlaw. I do too bro, but the general situation in the Horn of Africa....it wouldn't allow something like this. At least not yet. Somalis in the Western countries can't even share a Masjid without feuds occurring. Somalia is not a mature society yet. At least under a decentralized Federal arrangement, we can leave Somalia to be fully unified perhaps in 3 or 4 generations inshaAllah. The same way how the central European States of Prussia, Bavaria and others united in 1871 to form Germany. It didn't exist before then. But over 20 different European States, united to form Germany and the rest is history. It's the richest State in Europe and was the most powerful. Everything is step by step. If Somaliland isn't united with Somalia today, it most CERTAINLY will be united with us in the future.
16. SomaliaRising, I don't like that strategy AT ALL. Not even one bit. In fact, as crazy as this sounds, it would sound like a better idea to conquer the NFD from those docile Kenyans rather than attempting to conquer Somaliland. It could only destabilize Somalia in the long run and definitely fuel even more animosity. If they want to separate from Somalia and have their tiny State, then go right ahead. After some time and after Somaliland/Somalia develops economically, regional integration will happen ANYWAY and Somaliland will apply to rejoin the Somali Republic, after a couple generations. She just needs some time off. Somaliland is tired of her husband Somalia and after some time, she'll reunite with him and they'll live happily ever after
17. LOL Wasn't there already a story on this woman? Is she attempting to lay the foundations for a new book deal? Perhaps a couple appearances on Fox News? Perhaps a worldwide tour promoting her book, displaying in it's pages the very limited knowledge she has on Islam and pretty much anything in general?
18. It's good that the International Community has finally seen Qoslaye for what he is, and then we can make the necessary arrangements so that by 2016, a new President who is at least halfway-competent can take over the country. I hope that the events over the past couple months, especially the attempted impeachment of Qoslaye, and the attack on Villa Somalia, could shake some sense into him and force him to improve. Maybe he'll get a LITTLE better. But maybe I'm being optimistic. It's times like these that I miss Sheikh Shariif. As strange as that sounds.
19. There's definitely a deep cultural problem in Mogadishu. Anyone who's been there can witness it for themselves. Maybe it's the 23 years civil war which changed the mentality of the people. Maybe this culture existed amongst Koonfurta even before the Civil War, I'm not sure. I wasn't alive in the 1980's to witness it for myself. The only Somalia I know is Somalia post-2006. I've been to Somalia a few times, and when I traveled across the country I could see clearly the attitude/cultural differences between Somalis of different regions. But I can't say it's a HAG-thing, as I've noticed it amongst MANY Somalis from the South, regardless of their clan affiliation. And this'll take decades to reverse. This can easily be undone Dr Osman. Somalia is a very young country where almost HALF the population is under 15 years of age. So this poisonous mentality can be done away with inshaAllah. I'm gonna make a thread about this issue tomorrow or the day after inshaAllah I think Xaaji said that many of the politicians have a mafia-mentality, a "what's in it for me" mentality. And whenever they're given a post as "Minister" of something, instead of looking at the job as a Public Service Role, they see it a position where they can increase their status and wealth. That's a cultural problem.
20. Very modernized airport. Virtually unrecognizable from when I first visited the Hargeisa airport back in 2006
21. Mooge, it's the political culture of some of the people in Mogadishu. The culture is rotten. You can replace Qoslaaye with someone else and we could still have the same problems. We just really need a Prime Minister who aggressively pushes for Federalism, massively decentralizes the country and gets rid of the power of the Central Government. The power will be with the Federal States only. Then Mogadishu will be an unimportant city. It'll be the capital but only in name. And whatever political culture that exists in Mogadishu would be inconsequential as people would focus on Garowe, Galkacyo, Beledweyne, Baydhabo, Kismayo, etc.
22. Mooge, wallahi I'm debating on whether Aideed, Morgaan or Godane are the most despicable Somalis ever. They've really done their job in harming the country. Those 3 seriously are the worst. And I still can't decide which man is worse.
23. Tallaabo, remember, this is SOL! We use these descriptions for a reason. For lack of better terms. But the SNM (a resistance movement) of the 1980's is NOTHING like the Northerner Somalis who sponsor Godane and his antics. They can't even be compared. I didn't want to say "Somaliland", because it might make it look like I'm implicating all 3 million people who live in that territory. If you have another term to describe these sponsors, tell me it, and by all means I'll start using it from now on.
24. Mooge, maybe its a ploy by the SNM-crew to further destabilize the South, so it'll give them the ability to run to the Europeans and Americans and say "See!? Look how unstable Somalia is! Give us independence and recognition!" That seems like the only plausible explanation. A strong, assertive Somalia may be unlikely to tolerate the secession of Somaliland. But if Somalia's in chaos, then it might increase the chances of Maamulka-SNM gaining recognition and independence. That Khawaarij SNM dog Godane will get what he deserves one day, inshaAllah
