The international community must stop the atrocities in Lower Shabelle.
DoctorKenney replied to galbeedi's topic in Politics
The decentralization of Somalia is one of the best things to have happened as of late. We don't put all our eggs in one basket, and it'll give Somalis the incentives to work together and cooperate, instead of constantly trying to subjugate and dominate each other. And Somalis won't be forced to live with other Somalis they don't like. It's better to separate from each other than to fight with your next-door neighbor. If Puntland/Somaliland cooperate with each other, it'll greatly benefit both sides. And everyone south of Galkacyo will see the progress in the North of Somalia, and be forced to clean up their own act. -

Dr Osman, then I really think that HAG is gonna have to go through the long painful process of resolving their own differences amongst each other, either through dialogue or through outright violence. This might take a few generations to sort out, and then we will witness the rise of a viable and united HAG Administration. They're not politically mature yet. Puntland, with all it's problems, is far ahead of the South when it comes to resolving them. The same goes for Somaliland. But until HAG sorts itself out, I would hope that the other tribes just withdraw from HAG-dominated areas and leave them alone for a long time. Once Somaliland and Puntland progress economically and become more prosperous, this might drive them to actually improve themselves and build up their own territory instead of this constant fighting and ridiculous political games -

Dr Osman, when you say Galgaduud, are you referring to the Dahir Aweys-Ina Aideed clan or the Qanyare clan? And Galgaduud is a large region and fully capable of forming it's own federal state. The fact that not a single viable united administration exists in that region, is very shocking. But the people of Galguduud are divided even amongst themselves. And then their problems are exported to other regions of Somalia. It's a complete disaster all-around -
The same goes for Somaliland BTW. Their problems aren't as extreme as Somalia's problems, fine. They may be "stable", but this stability doesn't mean Somalilanders are a real genuine nation (yet) The political and tribal disputes between different sub-clans in Somaliland already proves this. But this might change in the future

I actually think Cidan is correct on some points here. Somalis need to focus on actual nation-building. These cosmetic improvements to Mogadishu doesn't do anything to fix our actual country. Many dysfunctional states have pretty buildings and a couple of roads. But when you have a large percentage of Somalia's population unable to have an appropriate standard of living, something's wrong. When we rely on Christian African mercenaries to protect us in our own country, something is definitely wrong. And instead of this Federal Government being alarmed by this unfortunate predicament and actively trying to build the capability of Somalia's Military, they're complacent and instead they focus on building a couple of pretty buildings and visiting foreign Heads of State in Qatar or Turkey. It's actually embarrassing. These men have no shame I don't see any real effort by anyone attempting to create a real nation out of these numerous tribal groups in Somalia who look alike and share a language and religion. By all accounts, we should be a nation. But we're not a nation in any sense of the term. And I don't know if we will be anytime in the near future

You're wrong smartlander Where I come from, being skinny and bony and having bags under your eyes, unkempt hair, yellow teeth, dirty fingernails, and wearing a shirt that's not ironed is seen as a mark of beauty You clearly need to get with the times.

Just compare Mo Farah, who grew up in Britain.....with his twin brother, who grew up in Somalia. These men are TWINS, yet Mo Farah is much healthier looking and more handsome than his brother. Because he grew up in a wealthy country with a high standard of living. Whereas his brother had a much rougher life. And you can see it in his face. This is all very basic logic. It's like 2+2

Have you ever thought that the "bags under their eyes", the "very skinny and very bony" descriptions you give to Koonfurians are due to the stress and problems of the civil war? How bright are you? Look at photographs of Somalis back in the 1970's and they didn't look like that. They looked MUCH healthier and much more handsome. Growing up in a civil war for almost 25 years, with all the stress associated with it. With all the violence, the malnourishment, the lack of appropriate food, the lack of proper healthcare. .....That tends to have an effect on people's appearance! You do know that right?! I'm just saying.

@Alpha Blondy said: you're such an imbecile. i meant what i said. i'm not from Somalia, dee. you little terrorist doofar. Then please don't ever comment on any thread (over 80% of threads) that is discussing Somalia. Whether it occurs in Bari or whether it occurs in Kismayo. Stay away from it, we've all seen your true colors here. And frankly, nobody wants to hear your opinion Now go back to your long lonely walks and enjoy your cafe latte. And please think before you speak. Miskeen....doesn't even know how to conduct himself in public P.S. And there's no need to get angry and throw a temper tantrum and insult me. I'm using your own words against you.

@Alpha Blondy said: it's a little silly, if you ask me, to make audacious statements online, when you're so removed from the reality on the ground. some of 'us' are here on the ground and doing our bit for the collective betterment of dadkeena, abti. you make a mockery of our efforts. Enlighten me Alpha, what have you done for the "collective betterment of dadkeena"?? Was it you very clearly saying that "nor do i particularly care for the sad and pathetic state of reer Somalia." Was it your long lonely walks through the streets of London? Was it you harassing other SOL'ers on this forum? Tell all of us Alpha, what have you done for our people, other than stroke your ego on this forum by attempting to be a Comedian?

@Homunculus said: Galbeedi, that really paints Somali's (and Saudi's)in bad light, and to think Alpha Blondy called me a self hater. Trust me, you're not a self-hater but Alpha definitely is a self-hater I made a thread a few months back regarding the President of Somalia, and Alpha wrote this: @Alpha Blondy said: ^ i didn't read the points your raised, ruunti. nor do i particularly care for the sad and pathetic state of reer Somalia. See what I bolded? He doesn't care at all for the "sad and pathetic state of reer Somalia". If there was ever a self-hater, Alpha is one. He doesn't care about the state of the country yet he's frequently on this forum, bashing others and causing problems. I get a bad taste in my mouth whenever his name is brought up, wallahi.

Galbeedi I really do believe that if Somalis were left alone for a long period of time, then we will eventually sort out our internal issues and then create the solid foundations of a modern nation-state. Nation-building doesn't happen overnight. The Germans and the Japanese went through many of the same issues we do today. They just had the benefit of going through these problems earlier. The Italians and Brits when they came to Somalia only further stirred the pot and caused even more damage. But I sincerely believe that had the Brits and Italians never set foot on our shores, then Somalia would consist of several regional kingdoms which would eventually unite into a single nation-state. And our culture would adjust to value hard-work, thriftiness, patriotism and other values which are needed to build a strong country. Cultures evolve, and Somalia is still evolving. Give it some time and we'll sort ourselves out inshaAllah

@Alpha Blondy said: Khayr, you don't have to watch these anti-Somali movies, you know. Aren't you a little late for your appointment with your therapist? I'm a little worried for you Alpha

Safferz, Sure I can accept that the language 1000 years ago isn't the same as it is today. The same way how Olde English is nothing like the English of today. Languages evolve over time and very few stay stagnant. What's your point? Who we were 2000 years ago isn't the same as who we are today. I know. And you can say that there were virtually no differences between Ethiopians and Somalis 2000 years ago, but that's irrelevant. The differences exist today, right now. Somalis aren't the same as Tigrays, and we aren't the same as Oromos or Amharics. Sure there are similarities, but that's about it. I'm sure you can say the same for Central European nations and some East Asian nations. Ethiopia isn't "Muslim". It's a country with a significant Muslim minority, but it isn't Muslim at all. And one-third of the country being Muslim is a significant minority yes, but that doesn't qualify them as being a Muslim society. And I do not want to see Somalis inter-mixing with Ethiopians (unless they were Muslim-Ethiopians) and adopting their culture and lifestyle. I know examples of Somali men marrying Orthodox Tigray women and the result was an absolute disaster. I don't even need to get into the details

Gabiley/West Hargeisa community: Don't use Dahabshiil money remittance
DoctorKenney replied to Saalax's topic in Politics
Perhaps Somaliland could benefit from a massive decentralization similar to what's being proposed in Somalia. I know those from the Waqooyi region used to always say how Mogadishu is sucking up all the resources from the country. Especially during the days of the Old Republic between 1960-1990. But Somaliland is pretty small. With a small population. I don't know if its feasible to have a federal structure with autonomous states. -
The Importance Of Quran In The Life Of A Muslim
DoctorKenney replied to Manahel.fatima's topic in General
No Tallaabo. Africans, Indians and all those with dark skins will be condemned to hell. While Europeans and those with white skin will be granted Paradise. Because the whiter you are, the more righteous you are. Why else do you think so many Somali women use Diana cream? The darker your skin is, the more evil you are. Its true because I say so! So yeah.....take that! -
Tallaabo why in the hell would you promote race-mixing with Ethiopians? Why would you even want to promote integration with a people who aren't even Muslim? If you're not okay with your daughter or son adopting the Amharic lifestyle and even converting to their religion, then you're being hypocritical here. All of this race-mixing sounds great on paper to you, but in reality it's a disaster. And deep down, you know it. We will lose our identity

A Candid Conversation with President Hassan Sheikh
DoctorKenney replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
The Somali Government needs to set the narrative that they are the ones who are pro-Somali Nationalists, who want to enforce Shariah Law in the country (albeit, not Al Shabab's twisted version of Shariah). The Government could also enlist the help of Somali Ulema who can launch a propaganda war against Al Shabab and educate the masses of how twisted Al Shabab's ideology is. The Government could also set an example and begin executions of anyone guilty of serious war-crimes in Somalia's past. I don't think imprisonment is enough. And the Government can even set an example and begin executing those who were guilty of financially supporting Al Shabab or supporting them in any way under the pretext of "treason" or "supporting enemies of the State". -
Alpha Blondy is a very hateful person who is filled with self-righteousness and anger. Its best to ignore him when he goes on his rage-filled rants. Clearly he lacks a self-censorship button in his mind

Eastleigh traders relocate with billions in neighbouring countries
DoctorKenney replied to malistar2012's topic in Politics
@YoniZ said: Ditore, Demography is the answer to your question. Businesses need either big population for economy of scale (eg. India) or small but high earning big spender populations (eg. Gulf states). Neither of them are found in Somalia at this time. The market in Somalia is not that big to accommodate all these creative Nomads and that is the simple reason why their businesses relocate to other East African destinations. Having said that, no sensible business can afford to not have presence in its own country for both moral and future grounds. Yoniz, with the unemployment rate in Somalia as high as it is.....Somali businessmen have an advantage and could employ HUNDREDS (even thousands) of young Somali workers to produce low-cost goods and then export them to other countries. India and China and the Arab States all have HUGE consumer demand. And Somalia could even start exporting goods to the USA or Europe. Perhaps even sign contracts with major European firms. The possibilities are endless. Of course these businessmen should also invest in other places in Africa, but they should at least have a base in Somalia, their home country. And once Somalis are employed, they will also have a huge demand for consumer goods, and this cycle will feed into itself. Somalis could work, earn shillings, spend those shillings, creating MORE jobs. And so on and so on. -
I would say the Japanese too, but their lack of Islam is a MAJOR problem for me. So I'm reluctant to say that I admire the Japanese culture. But there's definitely many good aspects. The Germans too. And I also admire many of the cultural aspects of the Ottoman Turks. They weren't perfect, I know. But they were a very admirable civilization
