ISIS is definitely a creation of some foreign power. ISIS benefits Assad directly, as it splits up the rebel forces and leaves them fighting each other. The Free Syrian Army, which is the legitimate resistance movement, is being killed on all sides by Assad on 1 side, and ISIS on the other side. This isn't surprising at all. The time will come when the Sunni Arab Chiefs of Iraq will turn on ISIS and then ISIS will lose their power and no longer be relevant

The people of the South do NOT support Al Shabab. Sure, there may be some naive people who support Al Shabab over the Federal Government, but this is because of their intense hatred for the AMISOM forces currently occupying Somalia. Their logic is "My enemy's enemy is my friend", but it does not mean that they're in favor of that xaywan dog Godane and his terrorist ilk. The warlords in 1990 cooperated in toppling Siyad Barre. Their mutual hatred of Siyad led them to ignore their animosities and to cooperate towards a common objective. But as soon as Siyad was gone, they turned on each other. That's what'll happen if AMISOM leaves. Somalis will turn on each other, but there's no way in HELL that Shabab will ever have substantial power again. The people hate Shabab, it's too late saaxib. The ship has already sailed. They've blown up civilians, attacked innocent people, blown up shopping malls in Kenya, and did all sorts of stuff which alienated them not only in Somalia, but from the wider Muslim world. They'll keep fighting, but they're getting more desperate, and the Somali Army is doing a great job attacking their positions. Why do you think they've started to resort to highway robbery in order to maintain their cash flow? That snake Ahmed Godane and all of his senior associates will be hanged as soon as possible inshaAllah. Cidan, the alternative to Al Shabab is a Federal Somalia, where the Central Government has very little power, and the power will be divided amongst the States. A Federal Somalia where the Regional States recruit soldiers from their own population and pay them their salaries (using foreign aid at first), is the alternative to Al Shabab. Things will change, give it time. This President Qoslaye is an absolute failure, but with his buffoonery, Somalia is still progressing and setting up the foundations for a modern nation-state. -
The fiction and the reality in Somalia/land-rants from Ghaddafi
DoctorKenney replied to Khadafi's topic in Politics
@galbeedi said: Buuraha, I agree. Nothing was done Togdheer, Awdal and many other places. In Somaliland everything is built by the people. I admire the willingness and the patriotism of the private sector and the people to develop. I know there few resources, but I believe they could do better in terms of government building things. It is all about the will to move things. We Somalis have always progressed without the help of government. All the progress you see in Somaliland today is done by private individuals and private corporations. Not by their useless government. It comes from the people. The same can be said for the progress in Puntland and South Somalia. I hope in the future, government influence over the Somali economy is minimized, so that the private individuals have more of an ability to shape the events in their own country. Instead of relying on government schools we can build private schools. Instead of waiting for the government to build a stadium we can use private funds to build it. Even privatized ports are more efficient than government-run ports. -

Al Qaeda in Iraq was finished because the Sunni tribes had enough of Al Qaeda and their crap, so they were driven from power and chased out of Iraq. But the idiotic antics of Nouri Al Maliki led the same Sunni tribes to ally themselves with ISIS, to the point where ISIS are very few in number, with a majority of the fighters actually just being Sunni tribal members. That's the difference. Al Shabab lost whatever goodwill they may have had from the Somali people. That's why when Godane said a couple months ago that the Somalis should "resist foreign occupation" and to "support Al Shabab so we can rid this country of these foreigners", it fell on deaf ears. No one took him seriously. He was the one idiotic enough to burn bridges and mistreat the people in 2010, 2011, 2012. Somalis don't forget. They've grown more clumsy in their attacks, they've claimed credit for violence which they never actually had anything to do with. They're desperate. They're a dying movement and all we need to do is to speed up the burial. All this President needs to do is to keep up the pressure on these xayawaans -

CidanSultan, Al Shabab doesn't have the capability to govern Somalia anymore. They don't have the resources to govern large areas of land like they used to do. Even if AMISOM was to leave today, I don't see any likely way for Al Shabab to rise again. There will undoubtedly be clan militias and other militant groups that would harshly oppose the rule of Godane. As unpopular and useless as Qoslaye's government is, Al Shabab is even more unpopular. They don't have the financial resources or manpower to govern the country. They can ONLY do hit and run attacks and they've been severely weakened. It's as silly as believing that the Ba'athists will retake Iraq, just because they once ruled Iraq for some time. It's not likely. Galbeedi, I think when the dust settles with the establishment of a Central State in Somalia, there should be some form of encouragement by the Federal Government to make these HAG-elements invest in Galguduud and develop it themselves, without the interference of others. If they feel like they have a stake in a future Somalia, without having to deal with other tribes they dislike, then it'll go a long way. Even if the people of Central State fight each other, who really cares? Like as long as the conflict is localized in a certain region, other parts of Somalia will stay immune to the violence. And eventually, the people of Central State will come to an agreement and start to cooperate with each other. It's part of the growing pains of establishing a Federal State. I know Somaliland was going through some serious growing pains especially in the 1990's. There was a lot of conflict within the Somaliland clans. And there's still some conflict today, but it's been greatly diminished. Sure, there might be HAG-elements killing each other in the Central State, it's entirely possible. But that's one of the benefits of federalism. As long as these conflicts are localized, and no one interferes, then eventually the stakeholders in Central State will find it in their interest to resolve their differences as brothers. Instead of bringing the entire country down, the fight is now localized. And they might have the motivation to "compete" with the other states of Somalia like Puntland or Jubbaland. And if the Federal Government in Somalia has very limited powers and very little influence, then the Central State people have absolutely NO EXCUSE to not develop their land. The residents of Central State would look at the other provinces of Somalia and hold their leaders accountable if they don't perform well. -
1200 Djibouti troops will be trained for six months...
DoctorKenney replied to galbeedi's topic in Politics
Unless we have an assertive President who will stick his finger in the face of the Europeans and Americans and demand a homegrown military solution to Somalia's conflict, than we will continue to be subjugated by foreign powers! Somaliland is doing fine because they have homegrown soldiers from Somaliland, who are securing their country. There are no foreign mercenaries in Somaliland. Why can't Somalia's President insist and demand that he doesn't want foreign mercenaries on his soil, and that the Europeans and Americans fund a home-grown Somali National Army. -

What is the use in training 1200 Djibouti troops when we could use that money to recruit Somali soldiers from SOMALIA? I don't understand why this isn't happening? Somalia has plenty of capable men who can fight. Why not just arm them and train them instead? -

The People of Palestine. Should they move to the Sinai??
DoctorKenney replied to DoctorKenney's topic in Politics
CidanSultan, I mentioned earlier that it's an important principle of Shariah that we accept the lesser harm in order to remove the greater harm. So the lesser harm (Palestinians moving to Sinai) is a more acceptable solution than the greater harm (Palestinians being killed daily). It's picking between 2 bad scenarios, one worse than the other. And I can't stand to see even ONE Muslim being killed unjustly, which is why I think this is the better solution. BTW, the same thing was being said about Israel in 1966. Israel was surrounded on all sides by the Arab States, and Gamal AbdelNasser kept threatening to destroy the Israelis. Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt were all against Israel, and any reasonable observer would have thought that Israel's days were numbered. World Public Opinion of Israel back then was very negative, even in America many politicians (including Presidents) were openly Anti-Semitic in 1966. President Nixon openly hated the Jews, and nobody thought twice about it. But here we are, 48 years later and Israel still exists. We don't know how much longer this State will continue to exist. It could be 50 years or 100 years. But in the meantime, we can't reasonably suggest to the Palestinians that they stay in that land, when we wouldn't stay there ourselves. I know if I had my family living in Gaza, I would do whatever's possible to get them out of that land. Move them to Jordan. There are already millions of Palestinians in Jordan and they're prospering compared to their brothers in Gaza. Quran 3:140: "If a wound should touch you - there has already touched the [opposing] people a wound similar to it. And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people so that Allah may make evident those who believe and [may] take to Himself from among you martyrs - and Allah does not like the wrongdoers -" -

The Muslims lost Al Aqsa Mosque in 1099, when the Crusaders conquered it. And we returned 90 years later, under the leadership of Salahudeen, and we took it back. We Muslims have lost Al Aqsa on a number of occasions. You're acting as if this is the first time it's happened. Withdrawing from Jerusalem temporarily doesn't mean defeat. It's just a strategic move and believe me, we will come back. It might take 20 years or 50 years or 100 years, but we'll come back. But this time we'll come back with a massive Army. Not with these bullshit petitions, or protests, or hunger strikes. But with a real military that will correct these historical wrongs. We Muslims are patient people, and we look at the bigger picture. The bigger picture is that we conquer ALL of Israel, not accept this phony 2-State Solution. Prophet Muhammad: "The Blood of a single Muslim is dearer to Allah than the Kaaba and all of it's surroundings" Please remember this hadith. Never forget how important the life of a single Muslim is. It's much more valuable than Al Aqsa and the Kaaba. -

Khadafi, imagine Russian Jews came to Somalia, and kicked me out of my land, and they took all of Somaliland and all of the South and all of Mudug, and they forced me and my people to live in Bari, and then they named their illegal state "Israel", which was built on the Somali Peninsula. And I'm living in Bari, under illegal occupation. While my people are being killed left and right, and I'm being oppressed. Now imagine the United Nations comes up to the Somali people and demands that we accept a "2 State Solution", where we Somalis are restricted to Bari province, while the Russian Jews live in all of Somaliland and Mudug and Jubbaland and Hiiraan and everywhere else. How would I look if I accepted this 2 State Solution? Would I not be giving up my rightful claim to ALL of the Somali Peninsula, including the land which the Russian Jews occupy? Now THAT would look like I'm conceding defeat and that I'm betraying myself. That's the relevant comparison bro. Palestinians should never forget that the entire State of Israel is illegitimate, and accepting this 2 State Solution is an admission of defeat. Every single inch of that soil belongs to Palestinian Muslims. And I don't care if it takes 100 years or 400 years, eventually we need to take that land back. All of it -

Khadafi, as you said, the only solution to this crisis is that Israel abandons it's racist ideology. But since the State of Israel is founded on the Zionist Ideology, and since the overwhelming majority of Israeli citizens support Zionism, then I don't think this will ever happen. BTW, why are we relying on their benevolence and their mercy? Why are we sitting around, allowing the Palestinians to be oppressed in the hopes that someday, in the future, the Zionists will find it in their heart to start treating the Palestinians like human beings. Don't put your trust in humans. Put your trust in Allah. The Noble Prophet gave us a methodology for us to follow, if we're ever oppressed in our own lands. The Palestinians have already tried the Nelson Mandela strategy. They've tried the Mahatma Gandhi strategy. They even tried using Diplomacy and using the United Nations as a strategy. But it keeps failing, time and time again! We've been witnessing this oppression for almost 70 years now! Why don't we, for once, establish the Prophet Muhammad strategy! The Salahudeen Ayyubi strategy! It's been proven to work. So why are we so afraid of it? Why are Muslims so afraid to implement the Islamic strategy of doing things? Umar bin Khattab: “We were the most humiliated people on earth and Allah gave us honour through Islam. If we ever seek honour through anything else, Allah will humiliate us again.” This is what Umar bin Khattab said, and it applies to us Muslims today. We need to stop looking at the world through their lenses. Stop framing the debate in their terms. Free your mind. The Palestinians today are talking about the 2 State Solution, when instead we should be talking about the 1 State Solution. ALL of Israel, including Tel Aviv and Haifa, belongs to the Palestinian Muslims. By accepting the 2-State Solution, the Palestinians are legitimizing Israeli's theft of their land in 1947. There is NO place for a Zionist State at all, and the Zionists should go back to living in Eastern Europe, or they should be living as Non-Muslim citizens in an Islamic State. -

Israel made it clear that in the event of a Palestinian State being created in the West Bank, that the Palestinians won't have their own Military and would be permanently occupied by the Israeli Military. Netanyahu said that himself, and his Cabinet and even the Opposition are supporting him. NEVER ever rely on the Europeans for anything. That's the first lesson you should learn. Rely on yourself, rely on Allah, and realize that waiting for the benevolence of the Europeans is a futile and worthless endeavor. Only we have the ability to change the situation in Palestine -

And Abyssinia was NOT the land of the Arab Muslims, but did that make a difference to them when they decided to migrate there? Medina was NOT the land of the Meccan Arab Muslims, and the city of Medina was controlled by different tribes who were living there (The Aws and Khazraj tribes) You still haven't shown how this situation would be much different than the situation of the Muslims during the Crusader era, or during the Prophet's era. by preaching them to move to Sinai or elsewhere you are indeed supporting the annexation of an entire people and their land Well someone can flip that statement around and say to the Prophet: "Dear Prophet Muhammad, you are indeed supporting the confiscation of your land and property, and allowing these Pagan Meccans to win, since you're leaving your hometown and moving to Medina, a land where you don't know anyone and you will have to make a new life" That's exactly what you're saying. And now you want to accuse me of "supporting" the annexation of an entire people. I'm not supporting anything. I just want the Muslims to be practical. I want the people of Palestine to strategically withdraw, to establish themselves in another land, and to return another day to fight. Millions of Palestinians already live in Jordan, and nobody thinks twice about it. So why is everyone upset when I suggest that more Palestinians in the West Bank move to Jordan, which is right next-door? And I suggest the same for the Gazans, to move to the Sinai, where they can finally live in peace. That's what Salahudeen Ayyubi did. That's what the Prophet did. You can disagree with me all you want, and think that's a poor strategy, but don't you dare imply that I'm pro-Zionist or that I support the oppression of the Palestinian people. Learn to disagree with me without questioning my loyalties and intentions. The ENTIRE land of "Israel" belongs to Muslims. Every inch of land. Israel made it clear that they won't accept any peace with the Palestinians until they recognize Israel's "right to exist", and the Palestinians already recognized this, which is legitimizing Israel's seizure of their land in 1947. So the Palestinian leadership is already "supporting the annexation of an entire people and their land" with the status quo. -
The People of Palestine. Should they move to the Sinai??

When the Prophet was living in Mecca, he was persecuted and his followers were oppressed, their rights were violated and they were being killed. And this was at the hands of the Pagan Meccans, many who had blood-relations to the Muslims! Did the Prophet fight them then? Did he sign petitions or hold protests in Mecca? NO. Why? Because he was establishing a methodology. Since he was an example to all of mankind, and through his actions future generations of Muslim Leaders can look too and reflect upon their own situations. He first sent some of the Muslims to Abyssinia, and then later he and the rest of the Muslims moved to Medina, where they lived in peace and established the Islamic State. The Prophet could finally live in peace, and establish the Shariah. And 8 years later he returned to Mecca at the head of a 10,000 man Army, and he took Mecca without a fight. The cursed Zionists will get what they deserve, Netanyahu will get what he deserves. But all I'm saying is that the Muslims of Palestine should retreat, retool and come back another day for a fight. Salahudeen Ayyubi re-took Jerusalem 90 YEARS after the Crusaders conquered Jerusalem from the Muslims. 90 years later. Did the Muslims choose to live under Crusader oppression for 90 years? No, they left. They left Palestine entirely, and they came back 90 years later and they defeated the cursed Crusaders and took back their land. So why should today be any different? -

^^You don't even try to sound respectful whenever you address me, it's like you're looking for a fight Miskiin-Macruuf. And now you have the nerve to call me a "Zionist mouthpiece". Stop pretending as if you care about the people of Gaza, because if you did then you wouldn't be advocating that they just stay in Gaza. Answer me this: Would you tolerate if your family, if your wife and children were living in Gaza? NO? Then why would you want the Gazans, most of whom are malnourished and have serious medical problems to tolerate living like this? You want them to tolerate living in a cage, and then expect that some "protests" or some "petitions" are going to solve this issue. Wake up and smell the coffee. This oppression has been going on since 1947. Do you REALLY think this will resolve itself overnight? No, you want this to continue, so you can selfishly wave the Palestinian flag and claim solidarity with these people, who are living in a prison. The situation today, is much worse than it was in 1990, and 1970 and you know it. I'm advocating that the people of Gaza make Hijrah. Why? Because the Shariah calls for removing the bigger harm by accepting the lesser harm. Authubilah, whatever happened to our imaginations? And your references to South Africa and Uighur China isn't valid, since the Palestinians are going through far more extreme problems. I'm not saying the Palestinians should move to Argentina, or Russia! I'm saying they should move to the Sinai or Jordan, which is right next door to Palestine! Half the people of Jordan are actually Palestinians, who moved there, set up their homes there, and actually live a better life than their Palestinian brothers in Gaza and the West Bank! -

@Che -Guevara said: Actually, in this war as horrible as things are for Palestinians, the losers in the political sense will be Israelis. The limits of Israeli power has been exposed, first with the war with Hizbullah and now with much less equipped and trained Hamas. Add to this the fact, the world is accepting Israel is apartheid state and the right wingers are losing the plots. Arab duplicity is all there to see as well. Yeah, Israel can't sustain the large casualties that would result if they conducted a full-scale ground war on the Palestinians. A mere 65 Israeli soldiers died and it's already seen as a disaster for them. And they haven't succeeded at all in their objectives. The world can see Israel as an Apartheid State, but that doesn't mean that'll improve the situation for the Palestinians. Israel could easily go rogue, but as long as they have the full support of the United States, then what reason is there for them to change their behavior? -

Galbeedi, you're right. The Arab nations are filled with unreasonable men who don't care at all about the plight of the Palestinians, even though they profess to care. Egypt is the biggest culprit here. Egypt could have solved this crisis decades ago, but they choose not to. And Mohamed Morsi was actually serious about creating a Palestinian State in the Sinai, but that unfortunately can't happen now, because he's no longer President. And now President Sisi is collaborating with Israel to blockade the Gazans and keep them in terrible conditions. P.S. Netanyahu is right-wing, but Israeli politics as a whole has moved more and more right-wing over the years. We can't expect anything from the Israelis. There needs to be a common solution to this problem, and we shouldn't rely on the Israelis at all. But then again, this can only happen if there were sincere leaders in the Arab World -

If the early Muslims moved to Abyssinia due to persecution, and other groups of early Muslims moved to Medina because they were persecuted, then why is it a bad idea to suggest Palestine do the same thing? These are REAL PEOPLE'S LIVES we're talking about. Real children being killed, real women losing their limbs, and real men going through serious trauma. The life of a single Muslim is very valuable, and there are countless Hadiths which detail this. How can we as a Muslim community, insist that the Muslims in Gaza just stay there, when we ourselves wouldn't want to be living in those conditions? Who here would volunteer to live in such terrible conditions, in a tiny strip of land where 2 million people are squeezed in. It's an absolute disgrace. -

BTW, Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood actually had a plan, where they would give a portion of the Sinai Peninsula to the Palestinians. And let them form their own State there. Several policy-makers proposed this and it looked like it would actually happen. But Morsi has since been overthrown in a coup, and those plans were scrapped by General Sisi. The Sinai is 3 times larger than Israel is. It's 60,000 square kilometers. All the Palestinians need is like 1/4 of the Sinai and it would be more than enough. P.S. And why can't the Prophet's time be compared to now? Are the Gazans not being persecuted and treated in an abhorrent manner? The Muslims could rise and become a viable power one day, but that might take 50 years, or 100 years. And do you REALLY think the Palestinians are willing to live in such terrible conditions indefinitely? These are actual women and children that are suffering every day. The people are malnourished. Half the children have anemia. Another 30% of children suffer from stunted growth due to malnutrition. And almost all of the population are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This really can't go on. The Israelis show no signs of letting up, and public support in Israel is in favor of this war. The Gazans have to leave -
The People of Palestine. Should they move to the Sinai??
DoctorKenney replied to DoctorKenney's topic in Politics
The thing is, I think people need to be practical. Israelis are growing more and more right-wing, and the Netanyahu Government CLEARLY stated that they would never accept a fully functioning Palestinian State in the West Bank. They're building more and more settlements, and the IDF is stationed all over the West Bank. Not to mention the people of Gaza who are living in terrible conditions, blockaded on all sides by Israel and Gaza. What would you suggest? I mean, Gaza is bordering the Sinai Peninsula. So if the Sinai is a "lifeless desert", then so must be Gaza. And if the Palestinians are granted a portion of the Sinai, then they could form their own State without Israeli interference. It's bordering the Mediterranean. I can't stand Israel either. But the reality is, is that the Palestinians are in NO position to change the facts on the ground. Israel has overwhelming military advantage, and it's downright impossible for a Palestinian State to exist in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank
