1. The day the Black Man in America takes responsibility over his own fate, instead of blaming the White Man for his problems all the time, is the day he finally becomes a real man and not a slave.
2. Xabad....you're going to make the claim that the Chinese in Malaysia, or the Armenians in Turkey (another very successful group) or the Jews in Europe and America, and the Germans in Russia and all these other racial minorities went through negligible discrimination, but that's far from true. Your past is not an excuse for what you do in the future. Black Americans being enslaved in the 1800's or being discriminated against in the 1960's is not an excuse for a 20 year old Black American in 2014 not trying his hardest to pull himself together and work hard to build his own community. And you know very well that's true. Only people with a victim mentality are going to reference past injustices for their inadequacy today. I'm not going to blame the British or Italian colonialists for my failures as a Somali. I will blame myself, and only I have the ability to change myself and change my community. We can debate all we want about what happened 200 years ago or 50 years ago, but the Black Man in America has his own fate in his own hands. This is what Malcolm X said 50 years ago and it rings true even today. Only he has the ability to stop these high crime rates in his own neighborhood, the high unemployment, the lack of good schools, and the lack of 2 parent families.
3. Speaking of dependency, America’s white middle class came into being cuz the Government helped in creating. It was not just through hard and organization that made it happen. The American middle class came into being because of the expansion of capital and investment in the 1880-1930 period. That was the period when America transformed from a 3rd world country, to literally the richest country in the world. It was through capital investment and maximized production. That takes hard work, that takes savings, and that's how America became an economic superpower in a span of about 50 years. There is NO reason why Blacks in America can't do for themselves what the Jews have done, what the Irish have done and what the Italians have done.
4. @Che -Guevara said: Firstly, I don't know where you get the number of 90% of black males are in prison. That's highly unlikely. Secondly, the Irish and Chinese were economic migrants. Nobody put them to boats and sold them like properties in foreign lands. Thirdly, the black families never had stable existence. During slavery, families were torn apart as they were sold from one owner to another. During the civil war, families were also split. There was some stability during Jim Crow, but poverty and indentured servitude to former slave owners made life difficult. During the Great migration, families were further separated. Blacks did find economic opportunities in the North through manufacturing jobs but that ended when the white boys returned from World War II and the white flight to the subarbs. I never said that. I said 90% of Black Men who are in jail, are in State Prisons. 10% of them are in Federal Prisons. And of those who are in State Prisons, most of them are there for violent crimes and property crimes. And you're talking about the disintegration of the Black Family? But in 1965, the vast majority of black children grew up in a 2 parent household. This was AFTER slavery, this was after Jim Crow. A black child born in 1965 most likely had both parents in his life. But if you look at black children born today, most of them are born to single mothers. And this has some serious long-term problems because children who grow up without a fatherly presence in their life, are far more likely to get into serious trouble when they get older. You're acting as if White Flight to the suburbs is a bad thing. If the Whites want to "run away" from Blacks, and live in their own all-white communities, then so be it. How is that a bad thing? If Blacks have their own neighborhoods, and Whites have their own neighborhoods, if that's what the people want then who are we to stop them? Blacks need to set up their own independent economy. I don't understand how is it that Somali refugees in Minnesota set up their own thriving businesses, with VERY limited resources and a small population, but the Blacks in America don't? Why are most supermarkets and convenient stores in the black neighborhoods owned by Indians and Koreans? The Blacks need a self-help philosophy, not a "Blame-Whitey" philosophy. Only we have the ability to change our own fate, with the help of God. There is nothing that the White Man can do that we can't. And we need to stop relying on him for our sustenance. Rely on yourself. If the White Man can set up Ford Motors and Chrysler, then we can do the same for our own companies.
5. I said it before: The Liberals in America are fostering a culture of dependency and victim-hood, and Blacks in America have fallen for it completely. You need to look at the works of Malcolm X, and he's written about this extensively in his autobiography. If the black man can't get hired at this company, then he can set up his own businesses and hire his own people and build his own consumer base. The Jews managed to achieve it, why can't we? What makes people think 45 million Blacks aren't capable of building their own economy and creating their own influence and stop being dependent on other races for their survival? If the black man doesn't like the school his children are attending, then it's his duty to pool his resources together with his neighbors and create all-black private schools and lobby the State Government to provide vouchers for the black families. I could go on and on with examples. But this requires organization and discipline. It requires good leadership from within the Black Community and I'm afraid that it just doesn't exist right now
6. @Che -Guevara said: Doc. You seem to be under the impression that blacks chose poverty and violence; things are far complex. It is hard to recover from slavery, Jim Crow, the Great Northern Migration,Civil Rights attacks, ghettoisation, war on drugs and other systemic issues lack of access to good education and employment. Why do you know how the white middle class came about? Bro, the ethnic persecution which the Chinese people went through in Malaysia in the 20th century was just as bad as--if not worse--then the treatment Black Americans went through under the Jim Crow era. But the Chinese in Malaysia persevered through family values, hard work, acquiring new skills, and investing their savings. And the Chinese people who live in Malaysia are BY FAR much richer than the ethnic Malay people. Imagine that. And that's just one example. The Irish people in America were discriminated against heavily, so were the Italians. So were the Jews. But they all pulled their resources together, worked their butts off, and ended up achieving a lot. Discrimination is no excuse for failure at all. Black Americans number 45 million people. That's a large number of people, that's more than the population of Canada. They have access to some of the best universities in the world. They have access to almost 1 trillion dollars in capital. If they want to, they can separate into their own communities and build their own businesses, supermarkets, factories and elect their own Governors and have their own Police Forces. But they're not proactive enough. Did you know that 90% Black Men who are in jail are in State Prisons, and the vast majority of those in State Prisons are there for violent crime, and property crime? I mean, it sounds to me that you haven't met these people in real life. They have the opportunity to succeed, to clean up their own communities, but they don't. And that's a huge problem.
7. @Che -Guevara said: Doctor, things don't happen in vacuum, this has been brewing for decades and this killing was last straw. As looting, it was by a small group and community its has come out against the looting. They actually helped the victims of looting. By the way, when the cop stopped Micheal Brown, he was not aware if Micheal robbed anything. The outcome would have been the same whether Micheal robbed anything or not Yes, I'm aware of that. But 40 people are murdered every single day in America, and most of those who are killed are young black men. I really wish that instead of putting all of our focus on Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, we focus on the poverty and high crime rates in the American ghetto. I don't want to dismiss these young men's deaths, it's certainly tragic, but there's bigger things to worry about. There are some serious problems in Black America that need fixing, and to put all of the focus on the deaths of these young men sounds ridiculous. Blacks should be pro-active in solving their problems. They shouldn't be reactionaries. They should have taken the initiative in promoting the hiring of more Black Police Officers, Black Judges, and Black Prosecutors. They should clean up their own neighborhood, build more businesses in their own community, and actively work with the State Government to improve the quality of Black Public Schools.
8. When I was visiting my cousin in Toronto last year, there was an incident where a White Police Officer shoots this young Syrian man named "Sammy Yatim" on a Toronto streetcar. He shoots the kid like 10 times, killing him. As a result of this shooting, people in Toronto were protesting, holding marches, and demanding an investigation, and eventually the Cop was arrested and charged for the murder of this young man. There was no looting. There was no rioting. There was no mention of the racial background of the kid or the Cop who shot him. None of that. None of that was relevant to the story at all. THAT is how you handle this type of incident. Instead of attempting to spark a race war in America every single time a black guy gets killed. First we have Trayvon, now we have this story.
9. Che, there have been some pro-active Black Americans who have been saying for YEARS that there should be Black Police Officers policing black communities. There's a serious disconnect between the police officers (mostly White) and the community in Ferguson, Missouri (mostly Black). There is no question that the shooting of this young man is a tragedy, and should be thoroughly investigated. But to jump on this story without knowing all the facts sounds like race-baiting to me. To react to this incident by looting and rioting sounds like overkill to me. There are better ways to solve your problems without behaving in this manner.
10. Coofle, the 2nd Amendment was designed to protect the citizens against their own government, in case the Federal Government gets tyrannical. And the American Founding Fathers purposely left that Amendment in there because the entire US Constitution is based on the notion of limited government. I don't see anything wrong with guns in America. Guns in Somalia is a different story, but Somalia and America are two very different societies and cultures. But I completely agree. Africans from Nigeria, Sudan, Senegal, Ghana and Somalia are far more successful as a group than African Americans, who've been living in this country for much much longer. Martin Luther King Jr died almost 50 years ago. Blacks in America REALLY need to get their act together, and they have no one to blame except themselves for their failures. The day the Black Man in America takes responsibility over his own fate, instead of blaming the White Man for his problems all the time, is the day he finally becomes a real man and not a slave.
11. @smartlander said: How am I trolling Drkennedy do u really believe people like madoobe and qeybdiis others care about the wellbeing of their people in the areas they control? I will leave hassan sheikh and abdiweli of Puntland out of it. I truly believe they have good intentions But I dont think madoobe and qeybdiid and that sneaky guy from bay and bakool sakiin care to be honest. they have other motives... only financial ones I'm not doubting that Southern Politicians don't care about their people I just find it funny that you think Northern politicians care about their people This is just ridiculous.
12. @Holac said: Black America needs to get its acts together and find purpose in life. Having said that, shooting someone who is already running away should not be ignored by the community. It could have been a Somali kid walking around these government housing complexes. It could have been your own brother chilling in the neighborhood. Looters must be brought to justice. These animals have no right to pillage someone else's property. That's very true. There should be a thorough investigation to this shooting. But this type of behavior of looting and vandalism is just ridiculous
13. Coofle, getting rid of guns will never ever happen in America. It's part of the 2nd Amendment, it's in the Constitution. Guns are a part of American culture, and it's not something that will ever go away. Guns are not the problem here. The problem is a disconnect between the Black Community and the Police. The problem is these race-baiters like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson who incite racial animosity between blacks and whites. Whenever a black kid is shot by a white guy, they always shout "RACISM!" but yet they ignore the thousands of black kids being killed in Chicago, New York, Baltimore, Detroit and Los Angeles every single year. The only time a black man's life has value is when it's taken by a White Cop, that's the ONLY time it has any value in the eyes of these people.
14. @smartlander said: They have no leaders who cares for them. Somalilanders wallahi we should feel proud that at least our leaders do something for us even if they are corrupt they still are held accountable to some degree Look at madoobe for example he takes money from sea port and airport did he even build one road for kismayo since 2012 he is just warlord hes not a leader hes in nairobi more than kismayo loool You must be trolling
15. I've read about this. So the Police Officer shoots a black kid dead, which is a tragedy. But then the Black residents of St Louis, decide to riot and loot and pillage and vandalize their own neighborhood as a response to this killing! Like, are you kidding me? One kid loses his life, and this gives them an excuse to break into Walmart and destroy everything, and steal PlayStations, Air Jordan shoes and other valuable stuff? They were destroying bus shelters, supermarkets, cars, everything! We don't even know the full story yet. The autopsy report has yet to come out, so it's best we just wait for the evidence to come out and make a decision based on what happened. This has nothing to do with race. I hate this constant race-baiting which exists in America.
16. Very interesting post Galbeedi. We need to think of a way to neutralize the private militias that still operate in Mogadishu. Disarming the people was the first and necessary step to achieving that. Let's hope the Government takes further steps in being aggressive and neutralizing all of these "power interests" in Somalia. Including the corrupt Business Community. They need to be dealt with as well. The business community is a serious problem in Somalia
17. Tillamook, the poisonous culture of Afweyne hasn't escaped Hargeisa at all. It exists from Borama, to Bosaso, to Galkacyo, to Kismayo. And this poisonous culture will take years to undo. Somalilanders need to take control over their own society and stop being so complacent with their politicians. Demand better, expect results. And we need to stop being so petty.
18. @Isbarmuuto said: pirates will always be pirates. stop dragging the good name of somaliland through the mud pirates. stop hating somaliland. So because I'm making very valid criticisms against Somaliland (and Somali people as a whole) I'm suddenly a "hater" of Somaliland? This is the type of nigger mentality that I'm talking about! In fact, I can say that I "love" Somaliland more than you do. Because at least I'm honest enough to know that something is wrong, and that we really need a grassroots program to fix Somaliland from the bottoms-up. If my brother is a drug-addict, I'm gonna tell him that what he's doing is self-destructive, and to fix himself up. I'm not a "hater" at all, YOU are the hater for allowing this corruption to continue.
19. These ISIS fighters deserve no sympathy at all. I know I sound harsh right now, but a quick reading of their actions in the Middle East would offend and disgust almost every single person. So if he died amongst this crowd, then know that he was simply one of them.
20. @Tallaabo said: That is exactly what Islam teaches but then strangely no one does anything about it. We only hear people complaining about the poor state of their affairs. It's the same with Black Americans, when they take complete losers such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson as leaders, then you know Black Americans have failed as a community. When they ignore the thousands of black men who die every year due to gang violence, but they get outraged over Trayvon Martin's death in Florida, then you know they have a problem as a community. It's the people. The people are corrupt. You can replace the leader but it'll be the same result if the people are rotten.
21. Read my thread Tallaabo, I've already explained this. You get 100 or so men, who are allied to each other and who have the exact same mindset. You take these men, and you scatter them across Somalia, based on what their tribal origin is. So a Xawadle man would go to a Xawadle village and live with his people. A Dhulbahante man would move to a Dhulbahante village. A Sacaad man would move to a Sacaad village, etc. You spread them out all over Somalia. Now these men, who come from different tribal backgrounds, must all have the same mindset and they should be allied with each other. And they should live amongst their people, educating them, helping set up institutions and being a model of honesty and good governance. The local people would trust you since you already come from their sub-clan, but they'd grow to trust you even MORE when they realize how much of an asset you are to their community. Make yourself indispensable. Make yourself valuable to their community. After some time, the people will grow to love you more than they love their clan politicians or clan elders, who will eventually lose credibility in the eyes of the people. You go after the little children, you change their mindset, mold them, nurture them. Remember, you're trying to change the culture of the people here. That takes years. Once you gain credibility, setting up a civil administration should be very easy. You can set up a local city council, provide services to the people, and eventually call your Somali allies who live in other villages and eventually set up regional governments. Once you set up a regional government, you gradually set up a National Government. And by that time, the young boys who you've helped influence and teach, will have grown to full-grown adult men, who could be the future soldiers, policemen, politicians, and judges of the Somali State. Most of Somalia is peaceful anyways. It's not like the residents of Hobyo or Taleex are dying by the thousands. Somalia is not Iraq. But this project does require a lot of sacrifice, and these men would have to be prepared to sacrifice their comfortable livelihood to go live in the worst conditions. And for the Somalis who aren't willing to live in these villages, then they should contribute a portion of their incomes to finance this project. If they send several thousands dollars per year, to each Somali man stationed in a village, and this Somali man uses these funds to feed himself, but at the same time provide services to the people, then this would be ideal. You'd need Somali workers in Canada and the USA financing this project, and Somali men in Somali villages to actually carry this project out.
22. The people get the leaders they deserve. When a people protest because a businessman from Reer Hebel wants to invest in their little tuulo, and the locals are angry and upset because this Somali businessman is not from their sub-clan, then we have a serious problem here. The politicians are just a reflection of the deep corruption which exists within the people.
23. @Tallaabo said: I had hoped education would be the antidote for tribalism but unfortunately I have learned that the educated Somalis are the worst tribalists. Then I thought Islam would come to our rescue until I realised that Somalis have mastered the art abusing the religion for their own ugly agenda. Then I gave democracy a chance until I found out that Somaliland defiled this system beyond redemption. I gave up on Somalis. None of these various approaches would have any lasting effects unless we create a bottoms-up approach to creating a Somali nation. It has to start from the villages, and then to the regions, and then to the nation. That's the only possible way we can do it. Somalia exists on paper, but it doesn't exist on the ground. And all of these failed politicians with PhD's and tribal mentalities are only making these problems worse.
24. Adnan I'm singling out Somaliland because I constantly hear Reer Waqooyi people, especially those from London, bragging about how awesome and progressive Somaliland is. The way they describe it, you would think they're describing Finland or Switzerland!! This clannism disease exists in Laascaanod and Garowe and Belwedweyne also. But nobody is denying that. At least we admit we have problems. Somaliland is itself a divided nation. The first step to curing a disease is to admit you have it. Only then can you move forward.
