1. @FreeThinkingGaalo said: I am certain I know enough about Shariah Law in order to understand that it is incompatible with the 21st Century. And if you "understand" that it is incompatible for the 21st century, then you really don't understand it at all. Which proves my point about you. Keep your head where it belongs, talk about things you know, and don't discuss things you're ignorant of. This is my sincere advice to you.
2. Never. To accept man-made laws as superior to what God has decreed is actually a form of Shirk. You know nothing about Shariah, as Shariah Law currently does not exist in it's true form. Stick to what you know and try not to discuss things you know nothing about. You'll only look foolish in the process
3. The fact that there are many Israeli Politicians who think that Netanyahu--the war criminal--didn't "punish" Gaza hard enough is really offensive. Are you kidding me? So bombarding Gaza for 50 days, causing the deaths of thousands of Gazans isn't enough for these Zionist criminals? And then they wonder why Israel is seen as a pariah State!
4. ^^^I have never in my life seen a worse troll than you Alpha. Get your hatred off this thread.
5. @Alpha Blondy said: is that because the Jihadist will get it out? You're not even remotely funny, STFU Alpha
6. @ElPunto said: It is a fairly successful society. But they live somewhat narrow lives - small houses, small cars, high taxes and high prices. You don't have to be ostentatious and lavish like some Arabs but there is a middle way and Norway's hoarding culture is not it. BTW - Norway has less than 5 million people while Nigeria has 150 million. Oil can only go so far. That's very true. But Somalia also has a fairly small population, and I feel as if once they start drilling for oil in Somalia, the different tribal groups will start fighting each other for the oil dollars. We already seen what happened in Kismayo when they were fighting over the port. One small, measly port. Imagine when there's billions of oil-dollars at stake. There's gonna be some serious fighting and EVERYONE would want a piece of the pie. Keep the Somali oil in the ground.
7. @Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar said: When will Norway leave our natural resources alone as well and stop supporting Kiinya's intention to steal our sea's oil? They are too kind to their own people, but too greedy and aggressive against others' natural resources. Waa faarabuutiyaal. If Somalia was a peaceful, stable, and prosperous country with it's own oil companies, and Norway was in a civil war, then believe me Somali oil companies would travel to Norway to drill for oil. It's human nature saaxib. It's how we are. It's our job to resist them, and look out for our own self-interests. The Ethiopians, Kenyans, Ugandans, Yemenis, Saudis and other people always take advantage of Somalis, so it's not a surprise that Norway wants to join in as well.
8. Very interesting article and I especially agree with the point about Norway being a homogenous society helping them avoid the oil curse. Nigeria on the other hand, also has oil and it has been a curse for them. You have all these ethnic groups competing for the oil money and all it does is create conflict and even bloodshed. That's why it might be a good idea for Somalia to not drill for oil. Leave the oil in the ground until we have a stable peace and a unified society. Because once the billions of oil dollars start coming into Somalia....that's when REAL TRIBALISM will begin. Tribal politicians and militias will start fighting over oil money and it will just cause more problems
9. I agree it's pretty foolish, but people naturally always want the "next challenge" to complete. First there was the Cinnamon Challenge. Where you had to swallow a spoonful of raw cinnamon and try not to choke. Then there was the Sprite challenge. Then there was the Fire challenge. This was just next in that phase. Half the people doing this "Ice Bucket Challenge" don't even know what ALS disease is. It's mostly just a bunch of kids and celebrities "daring" each other to go through with this foolish challenge.
10. Let's get the party started and get Puntland moving towards progress :D Thanks for that news Mooge
11. @xabad said: don't lie sxb its haraam. by the way jizya is ok with you ? taxing people just because they have differnet religon. islam never had a work ethic, it was parasitical polity living off the toil of other poeple. the record is clear whatever the likes of kennedy say. the apes killing people in the name of islam everywhere, not a single one makes his weapons LOOL Okay, whatever you say saaxib
12. @Alpha Blondy said: the above comment is very arrogant. how dare you explain 'name-recognition to a public relations undergrad. you shouldn't talk down to people. not surprised because this is what little jihadis do best. It sounds like your public-relations undergrad didn't benefit you at all, if you're not even aware of what "Name-Recognition" is. Were you even paying attention in class? Miskeen.
13. @Alpha Blondy said: that's your answer to everything somaha? are you 'Jailer John', the guy who executed that American Journalist? What, would you rather prefer he receives a 3 year prison sentence in an air-conditioned Norwegian prison? Where he receives a TV, an internet connection, good food, his own bedroom and shower, a gym, and daily visits from his friends and relatives? Let me know if that's what you want for this guy
14. @Alpha Blondy said: Isis was also the Egyptian goddess of fertility and motherhood. should we also change the names of ancient deities for the purposes of appeasing these vile jihadis. It's not for the purposes of "appeasing" them. They changed their name so that no one associates their Company with the infamous terrorist group in the Middle East. It's for name-recognition, and when a Company wants to market itself, "name-recognition" is extremely important. That's why the Nike brand and the Coca-Cola brand costs billions of dollars. JUST the brand is that valuable, not even the company itself. They did this for business reasons
15. LOL Xabad literally just made that argument up, and then completely referenced a hadith out of context! In Islam, there is an encouragement to do business, to manufacture, to trade and to produce. The evidences are too much, you can't even enumerate them. And the Jizyah tax is a small percentage tax, which was levied on only a small minority of Non-Muslims (the poor, elderly, monks, nuns, and women were exempt from this tax). The Jizyah would never be enough to sustain the Muslim State, and historically the Islamic Caliphate NEVER relied on the Jizyah as it's prime source of State Revenue. Xabad's blatantly lying here. And even through the personal life of the early Muslims, many of them were merchants or farmers, or tradesmen. Xabad, you're a troll. Don't get into an argument with me about this because I'm too bored to get into this type of B.S. again. And stop following me around this forum. You're never going to make your Mickey Mouse belief-system sound rational, with these ridiculous, half-baked arguments. So stop trying.
16. @xabad said: islam has not made any of its current adherents rich, in fact the poorest countries are muslim , niger, somalia, mali, burkina faso, are the worst off in all social and economic indicators in sub saharan africa and still regressing. christian states meanwhile are taking real strides. what islamic solutions are you talking about ? Somalia is in a civil war, therefore it doesn't count. And before the Civil War, we had a Marxist Regime governing the country for 21 years. And all the rest of the countries you mentioned are secular regimes, often Authoritarian, and have not applied Islam when it comes to governance. Egypt for example, is "Muslim" in name only. But it's actually a secular country and it's been that way since AT LEAST the 1950's. This is obvious to anyone who can see with his own two eyes
17. Islam is growing in Ethiopia rapidly. Day by day, the number of Muslims are increasing. Soon, by the Grace of God, Ethiopia will no longer be Somalia's adversary, and Ethiopia will soon be a Muslim nation with a Christian minority. Islam is growing in Africa and one day it will reach into Southern Africa. Let's hope the African Muslims will use Islamic solutions to solve some of their most serious social problems, especially with the poverty, AIDS, lack of prosperity, etc.
18. @Allyourbase said: Sxb I do not give two shiits about Arabs, I am Somali therefore I join discussions with Somalis. Not everyone here is an Arab worshiper like you thus you need to understand that though Arabs may seem important and the centre of the universe to you that does not apply to other sane people. Your turn: Why are you so obsessed with Arabs? Why do you love them so much? Its bizarre! LOL You make up things as you go along, and then ask me "Why am I so obsessed with them" as if it's a fact Niiyow, I'm not obsessed with anyone. Now get out of my face.
19. Puntlanders should have the attitude of "I don't have time to waste"....instead of being shaqola'an and just hanging out all day, which is what I witnessed in Djibouti. That's why it never develops, even though they've had peace for the last 40 years and they're an independent country with their own port and they have French and American military bases nearby. Djibouti sits at the crossroads of all the major global trade routes, and the Djiboutians could have taken full advantage of this and made Djibouti into a 1st world nation. They don't even need oil. The Djiboutians literally had the best opportunity to make their country the "Crown Jewel" of the Horn of Africa, but they ruined their opportunities because of their carelessness and laziness. And I know I sound prejudiced right now, but you just have to visit Djibouti and you'll know I'm telling the truth. The Government is literally suppressing almost all economic activity. Djibouti is so poor that it actually receives foreign aid, which is a disgrace. It shouldn't be too difficult to lift a country of only 800 000 people out of poverty, the number of people isn't that big. I mean, Ethiopia has to deal with 95 million people, India has to deal with 1.1 billion so lifting that many people out of poverty is gonna be really difficult. But Djibouti would have been a piece of cake, they don't even have 1 million people. I sincerely hope that Puntland and Somaliland and Koonfuria doesn't follow into the same situation that Djibouti is in. And we should learn from the Djiboutians mistakes. And strive to make our land a first-world nation. Sorry for that rant
20. @Allyourbase said: Kani xaguu kusocdaa? When did I say that? Sources please, when did I say I love bombarding Somali with copy/paste material? otherwise an apology is in order. Right after I made that above post, you clearly and deliberately stated that you have "no interest in getting into discussions with Arabs you don't care for, and you only want to target Somalis".....don't give me that B.S. You know exactly what I'm talking about
21. Puntland needs to develop as soon as possible, if I was Abdiweli I would mandate a 10 hour work day We can shorten it to 8 hours once it's developed enough :D I remember when I was in Djibouti, people never worked more than a few hours a day, and the streets were deserted after Dhuhr prayer, it was eerie. And it just didn't make any sense.
22. @xabad said: somali philosopher, saffz is not here anymore sorry, i know your like small talk and flirting with ladies. if these debates are not your thing move on. You don't know what a debate even if it was staring at you in the face. Don't call these pseudo-debates anything more than what they are. If you think debates are nothing more than half-interested Muslims getting into discussions with dim-witted Atheists, and the topics of the debate keep switching all over the place with no evidences, no rebuttals, and no genuine discussion, then yeah...by all means call it a debate. But I used to engage in debates months ago, I've long ago lost interest in spending time on this sort of stuff. It used to be an exchange, now it's nothing more than a battle of egos, a battle of "who can come out on top" and honestly I don't care to get myself involved in such things. I've said it before on this forum, that every single one of the arguments on this forum, that are posed by AllYourBase or Xabad, has already been addressed in books, in lectures, in debates, in articles and on forums. This is all old news. None of these arguments hold any credibility. But when I mentioned it, AllYourBase infamously said that he was only interested in targeting Somalis and bombarding them with his "copy/paste" arguments against Islam--that he wasn't interested in finding out the truth. How's that for honesty. This is what I said then: Again, and I’m gonna stress this to everyone reading this: This is not an Islamic Forum. This is a Somali forum, composed largely of Somali Muslims, but SomaliaOnline is mainly focused on Somali issues. Any of the questions you have against Islam can be addressed properly if you go to the proper Islamic forums regarding it. There are plenty of brothers and sisters who are more than happy to answer any of your questions on these forums. There are entire websites, and entire books about this sort of stuff. I’ve refuted this clown several times here, but I’m only one man. And I will get exhausted if I spend every waking moment browsing this forum, responding to his silly points. Yesterday, I actually had to stop on the sidewalk, pull out my phone, log into this forum through my 3G data plan, and respond to this clown while standing in the middle of the street. There’s a reason why AllYourBase doesn’t register on Islamic Forums and pose his questions. Because he knows that there are thousands of brothers who would demolish him and every single one of his arguments. I’m a member of one of these forums myself, but I’m a total amateur compared to these knowledgeable Muslims. I don’t even post anything due to my extreme lack of knowledge, compared to these brothers and sisters. Don’t let this deceptive clown mislead you from the proper way of thinking. He wants to mislead those from the Way of Allah because he knows he’s dealing with Somalis on this forum, who are rather inexperienced with these sorts of arguments, and don’t know as much about Islam as they should. If you have any questions regarding your cellphone, you go to specific technology forums designed to answer questions on cellphones. If you have questions about universities, then you go to specific forums designed to answer questions on universities. And if you have questions about Islam, then you go to the proper forums regarding it.
23. CidanSultan....he tends to get either bored or he's completely unable to create a proper response so then he either 1. Disappears from the forum for a few weeks or 2. Changes the topic. I remember earlier this year I used to get myself involved in long-winded debates with him. But now I don't care so much about spending the time necessary to counter his allegations. It takes time to type this stuff out. I'm bored with him. I only respond to him now so the viewers can see him for what he is; a fraud.
24. Now watch him switch to a whole new topic when he gets bored. This is what he tends to do. He jumps all over the place and then thinks he's accomplishing something by doing so
25. You're casually rehashing old arguments against Islam that have already been dealt with and refuted, half of them were refuted on this forum alone! If you really want to be seen as someone who can think for himself then do yourself the courtesy of actually knowing what you're talking about instead of repeating old, discredited arguments. But if you want to keep believing this, then go ahead. If this is what keeps you up at night, then its up to you. Atheism--unlike Theism--is a belief system fraught with illogic and inconsistencies, and has spawned some of the most destructive people and regimes known to history.
