  1. So far, Jubaland and its leadership has shown political maturity, patience, resilience, confidence, sustainability, and self-reliance in the face of hostile political, security, and economic challenges. it passed one of many hurdles to test its viability, and so far against many odds it is not only standing, but striving. Let us see what the coming days, weeks and years usher in as the State realizes its potential, reaches political maturity, weather away adverse elements. Added on: On another note, forces of federalism seem to be winning whereas the centralists are not only lagging behind, but losing both the political and diplomatic bout. Let us see how it pans out. the new front is now Marka, Barawe, and Baydhabo etc., Will see you there soon as the tide turns, and the conversation takes a twist to Southwest.
  2. Press Release The Jubbaland Administration repeatedly warned the Mogadishu-based Government to desist from its campaign to destabilize our nascent administration JUBBALAND STATE OF SOMALIA June 08, 2013 The Government of Jubbaland State of Somalia and its peace-loving people strongly denounce the violence which anti peace elements along with Al-Shabab sympathizers mounted yesterday night resulting in the death of more than 36 civilians. This violence, the first since Kismayo liberated from Al-Shabab terrorists almost a year ago, is without a doubt encouraged and financed by the Government of Mogadishu. We have in the past repeatedly called both through private and public channels the government in Mogadishu to respect the constitution of the Somalia Federal Government (SFG), exercise restraint, respect IGAD and UN Security Council resolutions and stop destabilizing our new administration which was established in a manner that is consistent with explicit provisions in the constitution. But all our peaceful efforts have so far fall on deaf ears. Instead of working with us, Mogadishu rather chose a dangerous course of confrontation and a renewed conflict to the detriment of the country in general and Jubbaland State in Particular. We regret that the Jubbaland Administration’s efforts towards normalization of the precarious peace in Southern Somalia and our focus and determined efforts to defeat Al-Shabab are now being undermined by design. The Jubbaland Administration repeatedly warned the Mogadishu-based Government to desist from its campaign to destabilize our nascent administration. We also publicly expressed that there is no way the people of Jubbaland will go back to days when Al-Shabab terrorist overloaded them and liberation of Jubbaland is finale and none-negotiable no matter what Mogadishu does. If Mogadishu doesn’t restrain itself and it continues its deliberate Policy of destabilizing the Jubbaland Administration, we have no other option but to fight at two fronts: one with AlShabab and another with anti-peace forces aided and abated by the Government in Mogadishu. Make no mistake that our people are determined to go any length to foster peace and cooperation with Mogadishu short of given up our constitutional given rights to run our affairs and live peacefully in our own region. We urge those who take up the guns to come to the table, resolve any real or imagined grievances through a peaceful means, and achieve all that by respecting law and order. We also ask government in Mogadishu to stop its unbridled interference and policy of destabilization of our administration. Abdinasser Serar, Jubbaland State Spokesmen +252-6160-70007
  3. All questions answered. no room for hearsays. Press conference - President Ahmed Madoobe of Jubaland.
  4. I do not think I misunderstood, and I do not think I will edit the names 'cos there is no harm is discussing names with relevance. there is no malice or meaning any harm or insult, but just a way to demonstrate a valid point in the conversation. And NO, he did not say Qabyaalad, he said Qabiil. Are we watching the same tape? are you bold enough as to question and insinuate Somali is my second language? I do not know what his intent was, but the wording of his utterance was clear enough for me to raise the question which I think are valid. but you seem to be making excuses for him without knowing his true intent which is troubling. I think both you and the professor will need to go back to the board and re-examine the wordings. Confusion I think is abound. Let us see what others make of it. here is the video.
  5. I will ignore the irrelevant bits, and focus on this part. Let us simplify it in a language you can relate to, so in your mind, is good, but is bad, and by extension is bad. did I get that right? Xaaji Xunjuf;960011 wrote: How is toll bad , toll is your clan sub clan and your people, who share a common ancestry with and culture , if you embrace it how will it hurt others. He said it is wrong to use your clan to hurt other clans. He made a clear distinction. Where does one begin, and where does the other end? Added on: And I would venture to say Samatar is very deceptive, lancing words, and can be classified as "munaafaq" and "faasidu al-ard" as described in Islam where learned people will try to confuse the people with innuendos and double talk while never speaking the truth. put it differently, they are a classic example of "sufahaa" roaming the country spreading confused messages of falsehoods and fallacies while poisoning the minds of the impressionable young minds with garbage and nonsense. On the issue of Qabiil, the Quran raises "و جعلناكم شعوبا وقبائلا " - in case you get confused - "Qabiil is sing. Qabaa'ilan" is pl. ". Now, why the double-talk and cause for confusion? And in the Somali context, when I say, "Tolaayeey", I am NOT only calling on my folks, I am actually going all the way to the end of the block. so what gives in his deceptive, small-minded, thieving ways? Or does he think we were born yesterday? And gone are the days when his mantra used to be Ummah = nation vis-a-vis Tol. how quick;y does the slope tilt to the bottom? the all knowing professor knows naught.
  6. In passing, I have been casually observing Samatar's activities while in the triangle, and I was left with one contradiction after another to the extent I could no longer reconcile how the events had been initially billed, how the reporting morphed into a quiet disbelief, and how he disappointed many banner waving secessionists who saw his arrival as the darkness before dawn. Interesting enough tho', when in Hargeysa, he seemed tense, uncomfortable, unease, pressured, and not at liberty even his demeanor seemed forced. that scene of him waving away a hat and the flag were most unfortunate. what a rude guest. why not indulge the hosts, and just let the young man place the hat, and then remove it at will. that would have been more gracious and would have shown humility on his part. Inversely, the mood took a different turn when he arrived in Borama where he seemed more comfy, smiley, generous with the compliments much more than when in Hargeysa employing flattery in his delivery. The answer might be found in Tol thing. who would have thought, eh? Or is this a case of minority inferiority complex of "Aayaa Huuno" taking its toll in the man and getting the better of the professor? Either way, a classic case of "Fuudka ma cabee, Hilibkaan cunaa". It is nonetheless bemusing to watch his unravelling through the prism of his adoring unionist fans. and the disappointment on the faces of the would-have-been secessionist flock. But I can not explain how he reached the conclusion that Tol is good and Qabiil is bad. I always thought tow were synonymous, and it is just a case of how deep you wish to peel the layers of the onion. was he fed from the well of bile ala confusionism, or is he up to something, a moment of genius ala Einstein where he might give birth to a surprise genus of brilliance. More interestingly, I can not wait his outburst when he returns to his comfy, air-conditioned five-star hotels packed with Diapora adulating hordes, and how he recounts his encounters in the triangle. Well, I suppose we will have to wait and see,

  13. Baashi, I am have been cut off for the past few days and do not have the inside scoop.
  14. Those in Mogadishu lived through the 20 year-long war and are realistic. they know they are only in the game when there is no true challenger in the game. and remember it is reer Galgaduud whether Hiiraale or Xaad who are making the loudest noses, but never the hapless reer Modadishu whose houses mind you are occupied by the invading gangs of Galgaduud.
  15. The biggest loser is President Hasan and his amateur politics. not only did he gamble away the goodwill, mandate, and legitimacy of the federal gov't that is now nothing but a political faction, he flashed down the Indian ocean the hope of those most in need of a real gov't: people of Muqdisho. he lost the political war. he will lose the diplomatic war too.
  16. President-elect of Jubaland state of Somalia. And no matter what reer Galgaduud think they can do, their 'Ku qabso ku qadi mayside' efforts would mount to nought.

  18. So they've decided to recruit IDPs when the locals turned their backs. It might benefit the local economy as a downward circulation of dough from the corrupt elites to the poor IDPs begins. Trickle, but a good one.
  19. Carafaat, At times I wonder if your comprehension of these complex issues is so warped that you miss the meaning of the conversation. Or is this a case of 'once bitten by the secessionist bug, there is no turning back'. Do not answer that ‘cos I can almost presuppose what you will say. Now or in the very near future, no one in Somalia has the heart for a “central government”, weak or not, for the simple reason that under that system of government and in the name of its beguile, thousands of innocent civilians had been killed leading to the collapse of the state. What is likely to work for Somalia for the interim is units of federal states where lies the power, and a weak federal government with limited powers up until Somalis have politically matured and socially agreed among themselves that they are ready for a strong federal government and a weaker, but influential federal states. For that to happen, trust must be restored. States and regions must be rebuilt from grounds up. Intelligent politicians must be born and take over the leadership of the country. Till then, the reconstruction begins from the periphery to the center, which is what you and the current FG leadership are advocating against, and not the other way round, which is what pro-federalists are advocating against. That road has been tried, tested and it failed the nation. And one more time, the Jubaland leadership along with the delegates and elders conferring in Kismaayo had a single message from day one: we support and are part of the federal gov't. We want its to participate, bless and lead the formation of the Jubaland administration, and whatever the differences, sort them out between the parties. And that is where they still are. Why is that not sinking in? And why is your target keep shifting with the wind? Do you recall what the contested issues where when Prime Minister Saacid visited Kismaayo? And by the way, Jubaland is not the model, but a distant second or third in line to have espoused the federalist doctrine. Need I continue.
  20. Good news. The FG leadership is finally coming around to its senses. Too bad it had to take someone in a foreign capital to twist their army to see reason.

  22. That is a coded message ala 'reer magaalnimo' not to say it openly, but his guise was torched by the message that followed. We are in era where mediocrity is accepted as the highest standard, waffle as effective oratory, and dim retorts as wit. And when all else fails, the clan card is raised to reject logic, avoid mature debate, and refute valid arguments.
  23. Then you are a better person than I. Patience, as they say, is a virtue not bestowed in all of us.
  24. True, Somali politicians are not media savvy, and lack the discipline to stick with their talking points forgetting that what is tolerated by the non-suspecting Somali audience will not be taken kindly by critical minds elsewhere. Edna has some qualities others lack, but has a greater defect other do not. Firstly, she was married to politics at the higher order for far too long where she dined and wined with the powers that be. Secondly, she has a good command of the English language, which others do not. Thirdly, she is naturally an outgoing, confident person. And finally, she knows the history of the subject she is discussing, and knows her audience doing her homework ahead of time. Her downfall however was she mixed reality with fiction far too much to the point where she could no longer be taken seriously, particularly when talking to people who knew the subject and its history more than her, and could see the flaws in her argument. In other words, she went to the well far too many times. Others like Fawzia, Jangali, Oomar etc., while less remarkable, were nonetheless decent beings whereas Edna resides in cuckoo's nest.
