Lets be honest DAR is filthy, i was there in 2008, you could smell people's toilets as the driver took a short cut to avoid the morning rush hour that goes on for hours. For a City that is majority muslim i was dissapointed. The city's infrastracture I believe has not changed since the colonialist left when the population was a fraction of what it is now.

What was the name of the Cinema that was roofless in Mogadishu? I remember my dad taking me there as a kid in the 80's. I also remember flying to Hargeisa the next day.

Is that why Silanyo has been busy reshufling his cabinet/ rearranging the deck chairs, in order to fight stagnation.

19 March 2012 Somali refugees killed by Mogadishu mortars About six people have been killed in Somalia after mortars landed on a refugee camp near the presidential palace in Mogadishu, officials say. A family of four were among those killed, a witness told the AFP news agency. Islamist group al-Shabab said it had fired more than a dozen mortars. The al-Qaeda-linked group controls many southern areas but is under attack from Ethiopia, Kenya and was forced out of Mogadishu last year. "A father, mother and two of their children have all died after a mortar shell smashed into their hut, and another round killed two other civilians," Abdiwahid Mohamed told AFP. Paddy Ankunda, a spokesman for the African Union force supporting the UN-backed government, told Reuters news agency that about six civilians had been killed but no mortars had landed in the presidential palace. The government only controls the capital but last week started its first advance beyond the city limits. The country has been racked by fighting since its last effective national government was toppled 21 years ago. More on This Story BBC From other news sites Yahoo! General Duke;806211 wrote: We dont have the capacity to protect our coastline as of yet. The Oil revenue will jump start the Somali economy and revive the Somali State. This is aN opportunity that insha Allah will not wait for anyone. So you agree with me we do have resources but we have just wasted 20 yrs fighting our own shadow.

General Duke;806207 wrote: Your losing your mind boy. Today in East Africa it's he gold age for Oil exploration. Everyday new wells and reservoirs are being found in South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and as far as Mozambique. This is no laughing matter. You never even believed there was a rig or drilling. Then you disappeared when the forts pictures came out. Now you are foaming from the mouth, and repeating the same mistake. It's evident that this is big event, a transformative event. Apart from S Sudan [$4 billion a year] and Uganda [ $1 billion a year], it's gas and we are talking about.

We don't lack resources, the revenue from fishing alone is 100m a day from somali coast, if we can get a tenth of that it will be equivalent to 3 billion dollars a year for somalia economy. We know has been benifiting from our coast and it aint us.

At the helm of Somalia and its future oil is one of the most educated men on earth, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali. People should quit their negativity because the reality strongly beats those notions. It's good having an educated leader, but if the people around him, above him and under him are hopeless then it does matter what he is.

For some how you think the future is all bright (10 years that is ). I say corruption and msmanagement will always be there but can be reduced depending on who is in charge. The future is bright, but we need to make it!!Remember GOD does not change condition of people until they change....

t seems to me that you're more concerned that one entity getting more powerful than the rest? So you're saying it should wait for the other regions! It reminds me when Puntland was established people first said it won't work and will collapse in no time, then they said it should have waited for other regions until Somali people decided their future together, that would have meant fourteen years in the limbo. Sxb it should not be a concern to any one that Puntland wants to better itself and its people while promising to share everything with the rest of Somalia. Puntland has always been part of the TFG and never entertained itself seceding, i don't know where you got that idea from. The TFg is goverment of national unity, you can telll them what to do, I can tell them what to do and Faroole can tell them what to do! Afterall its our goverment.- Samafal Forget "PL", maybe this article will help you understand what i'm talking about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resource_curse#Taxation South Sudan is an oil producer look the mess it's in, and we are supposed to be worse in terms of corruption, governance, etc...

Samafal;805959 wrote: Yeah but the think is you don't know if all of that will happen in 10 years time, do you?. Its seems the more educated and civilized Africans become the more they are susceptible to corruption and all kind of manipulation, case in point Nigeria. When gulf states found oil they were mere nomads and corruption was unheard of. So instead of delaying things for uncertain future its better to drill oil and hope things will be for the better. The difference is that we have corruption now and it's rampant. Just imagine "PL" now without oil money, one day it's threatening to cede the next it's telling TFG what to do. We need stable governance in all regions of somalia before that sot of money spills in the somali political body. Nigeria was a military dictatorship when there was oil boom, it's just now they are trying to build a civic society and check and balance.
