  1. 16 October 2012 – With the nine-year-old transitional period in Somalia having ended peacefully, the authorities need urgent assistance to meet the challenges associated with peacebuilding as well as stabilizing areas liberated from insurgents, the top United Nations envoy to the country said today. “The change met the expectations of most Somalis and has raised higher expectations for more change,” the Secretary-General’s Special Representative and head of the UN Political Office for Somalia (UNPOS), Augustine P. Mahiga, told a Security Council meeting on Somalia. The war-torn Horn of Africa nation now has a new Constitution, a new Parliament and new elected Speaker and President. Earlier this month, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appointed Abdi Farah Shirdon as the new Prime Minister. Once confirmed, Mr. Shirdon will form the country’s first post-transition Government. Briefing the 15-member body via video-conference, Mr. Mahiga added that the Somali authorities now urgently need assistance to meet new challenges. Among the priority tasks facing the new administration is to move quickly to lead in the stabilization of the liberated areas. “This is critical in filling the vacuum which could otherwise emerge from the retreat of the insurgents,” the envoy said. “The immediate challenge which the Government faces is, hence, the establishment of local and district administrations, justice and rule of law, as well as to provide basic services to the population.” He noted that the security situation in Somalia has “vastly improved,” thanks to the continuing efforts of the UN-supported African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), the Ethiopian forces and the Somali Government and its local allied forces. This should have been my response, no need to waste words with your type.
  3. When is the PM going to address the parliament? I think there should be a maximum of 2 weeks for the naming of the PM and a full cabinet after 30 days.

You want to give your country away to strangers of the land. Look at Europe, they need new people because their population is aging, we do not need more, Somalis produce at a pace that will keep it growing for years on. Somalis are called wasakh by other groups wether they are in Isli or Wembley, human prejudice is universal so I don't see your point unless you're endorsing that type of bigotry. The Jareer were citizens when the the Republic of Somalia was formed, they are citizens today with their full rights, it doesn't matter if they came 200 yrs ago, 500 yrs ago or were original people of the land....they now have same rights as you!!

This is what happens when you have a person with a brain full of faecal matter, you end spouting BS! I hope the OP gets deported from whichever country he resides. They should cancel his passport and send him to live with IDP's of Mogadishu, that will teach him a bit of humility.
  6. Reasonable piece. At this critical juncture in the history of our country, what matters most is to get to first base in the coming four years. Even if we are saddled with leaders perceived by some of us as being below par, we need to give them a hand so that we can extricate ourselves from the miserable situation in which our people languish. African soldiers we used to despise and call names are running the show in our country, and thousands of our youth perish in their attempts to flee a bleak future. We may have to overlook many wrong decisions in the interest of reaching our final objective: a united, strong and prosperous Somalia. The effects of twenty years of anarchy cannot be wiped out in a few months. However, we should not overlook or tolerate any corruption.
  7. The latest bombing in Kenya's capital spells a foreboding future for resident Somalis. Kenya's Somali intervention in its quest to crush the terrorist group al-Shabaab is producing a potentially devastating dynamic for ethnic harmony in Kenya. For two weeks now, I documented an average of two to three daily articles in Kenyan papers extolling the mighty powers of the Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF) and their defeat of Somalia's al-Shabaab in many parts of Southern Somalia. Nationalistic flashy titles such as "Kenya's Military Has Proven Its Might in Somalia" are found not only in printed news, but also in TV and radio programmes. Juxtapose this to the twin bombs that shook parts of Eastleigh - a residential district in Nairobi - within the span of one hour last night. Unknown persons succeeded in detonating two powerful explosions near the site of another deadly attack less than a fortnight ago. As a Somali who has lived in Canada and the US for over two decades now and who has been fortunate enough not to have personally experienced the nightmare of violence and forced migration of millions of my compatriots, this was the first "lived" experience of terror. This latest bombing took place just a hundred metres from a church on Juja Road that was targeted on September 30 in a different bombing attack, resulting in the death of a child. Fortunately, there were no deaths last night - only a few injuries. The reaction from these explosions amongst the Somalis that I was with - who all fled from their houses and apartments for fear of a follow up bombings - was mostly one of disgust at the perpetrators. Many I have spoken with really expressed a heighted sense of panic about the devastating repercussions that they fear they will face. I heard tremendous distress of bearing the wrath of the Kenyan law enforcement agencies, but also fear of mobilisation of other ethnic groups within the Kenyan mosaic against all Somalis. 9. All of you anti-federalists pose as intellectuals yet you show no rigour. What the hell would the difference be if Puntland's regions were represented along the line of Nugaal , Bari etc, what would that solve, even in regards to this subject? First of all I'm a Federalist, meaning, I believe in regional administrations that have the power to elect it's own officials, have the ability to collect tax, run their economies, education, judicial, prisons and policing. So having a Governor in Bari,Nuugal Mudug, Saanag, Sool...will make the whole process more democratic and fair, IMO! P.s I'm no intellectual, i'm just another semi-literate Farax.
  10. With people like you no wonder you are failing at a local level let alone national. War wuxuu caqli xumaa. 16 Degmooyin = 1 clan = Not capital. Unlike you I don't see everything through clan prism, nor I'm motivated by clan bias. My friend you're still fighting yesterdays battles, you need to move on. Mogadishu is the heart of Somali's survival. Hargeisa [ as demostrated by the last 20 yrs] nor Garowe will save us as a people/race. Now fast forward in the near future where your wish has not been granted, Mogadishu will be a 5m or 10m metropolis, where not only all Somalis have a stake, and political participations.....but there will be thousands of other nationalities i.e, Yemenis, Indians, Iranians,[ Oromos, Chinese] etc like it used to be for centuries. But first we need to bury this mentality of "this tuulo unuka ley".
  11. Abwaan, Muqdisho waa magaalo Soomaaliyeed in name only, waa magaalo beeleed like every magaalo in Somalia. I told the truth and you can't refute it, all degmooyin ruled by local clans, and people who go back to take their properties are killed. A capital for all Somalis is needed. Muqdisho wa magaalo Soomaaliyeed. The Mogadishu clans are Somalis too.In a democracy, locals will run their regions but not by exclusion of other Somalis if they happen to be residence or minority clans. . Anyone who wants to have their properties returned in Mogadishu will have to use Government institutions i.e The President, PM, Council of Ministers, judicial and the Police. Puntland should demand that, instead of encouring vigilantism. Only through the rule of law will this be solved. Somalia's logic is reasoning. It's doesn't matter who is the majority, it matters that there is a fair and equal opportunity for all Somalis regardless of clans You wont get that with Puntland's unuka ley or Mogadishu clan unuka ley mentality i.e sub-clan federalism.
  12. I don't understand Somalia's logic, if the capital is moved, it will still be moved to a city that is inhabited with a majority clan wether it be Hargeisa, Garowe, Bossaso, Galkayo or Baidoa. If he is talking about building a city from scratch then he is mistaken, Somalia doesn't have the funds for that type of fancy project.

In it's last statement by PL welcoming the new PM, it adviced the goverment on formation of Clan states for Juboonyinka and Bay and Bakool regions, but it wont give the same advice on behalf of Khatumo.....why? Now because of this flawed system we have Xiiman and Xeeb and Galmudug fighting over Hobyo. This nonsense my must end. Does Governor Faroole realy believes that he runs Buuhoodle?
  16. DoctorKenney;878696 wrote: It's okay....many Somalis don't seem to grasp the fact that you can't claim the National Capital for yourself and exclude every other clan. Only in Somalia can something outrageous like this be promoted. I don't see Americans demanding that the President be from the Washington D.C. area. Losers like these should be excluded from Somali political affairs. Just keep quiet and go to sleep

  18. xiinfaniin;879361 wrote: Rolling back the progress made is not a credible proposal. But that is sadly a uniquely Somali mentality Making Puntland and Somaliland more democratic it aint rolling back progress. Clan states function in regions with Sub-clan hegemony, taking that model to the South where the clan structure is mosaic is madness, IMO. And why is PL busy trying to build a Sub-clan state In Juuboyinka when it opposed Khatumo from the very inception?
  19. Apophis;879353 wrote: Is it safe to assume you also want all other regional states to be dismantled? No more P-land, XX-land, Galgudud-land, Hiiraan land and so forth. Somaliland and Puntland were temporary arrangement [shush! keep it quiet] Why should a man sitting in Garowe decide what happens in Bossaso, Erigavo, Galkayo or Laas Caanod. No to clan states,Yes to 18 region Federalism, which I believe is much more democratic, IMO!
  20. Jacpher;879216 wrote: Mayorship is the least worry of Kismaayo or the President for that matter. Peace should be the priority now. The federal government should take the sole ownership and responsibility of the city and tell all these contesting clans to take a hike so the city won't be another clan battle ground. No clan administration, No Kenyan buffer zone, No statehood in Jubooyinka. No new mini states. Keep every city, state as is.

I found it so bizarre that several married couples would communicate through their status updates. Everything about FB screamed fitnah! + 1
  22. I agree, the neo-con and Christian zionist will have an immense influence in the new administration if Obama were to lose. Obama had it in the bag untill the Benghazi killings of the US Ambassador. He was untouchable in the foreign affairs issues untill then, this must have disheartened him to the point of him arriving to the debate emasculated and fatigued. Now he had to answer for a misfiring economy and America in re-treat from the Arab world. I think he needs to capture the fire in his belly that he once had.
