I dont think so. Even saacid put up a much tougher fight than this and this PM is far more capable of a much tougher fight and has a valid constitutional point. He has the higher legal and moral authority in this instance. What I suspect will happen is that in his latest get together of the cabinet they will rule amongst many other things that the newly reshuffled ministers take up their designated posts. More than likely that almost all will agree. That will leave good old Farah out in the open and in refusing the order, the council of ministers will next here a motion to dismiss him which will be carried with overwhelming numbers. That will probably be the checkmate the PM will play.

Let me be clear , he has other powers but on this issue that is his role. The PM has NOT fired or appointed NEW ministers, he simply moved them around and doesnt need any permission to do so. As far as the new state being formed is concerned, unless people are looking to create mayhem, why cant it be galgaduud, hiiraan, shabeelada dhexe and half of mudug, Alternatively if you have an issue with the division of mudug, why not add the remainder of mudug to Puntland, a state that has been in existence for 16 yrs and then have galgaduud, hiiraan and shabelada dhexe as a state. Finally the usual International community will go against him because he provided them with a clear point to use against him. Yuulka will probably swear in the new ministers and since he and only he can decide the sitting of the council of ministers, the new ministers will assume their roles. If and when that happens, the president will loose all authority from that point on and Yuulka in time will present small changes again and again until he has a cabinet that works to his agenda which should be the case. Either way, the president's interests would have been best served fighting behind the scenes. His new position has only made him very vulnerable. Interesting times ahead!

Sadly for Silaanyo, a major seismic survey was undertaken by TGS seismic and the data did not bring back anything promising. Galbedi, Big oil companies hardly do any exploratory work nowadays. They leave that space to the smaller, more streamlined companies that are usually prepared to take the risk. The big companies only come in or "farm" into their contracts after they either find something or show promising geology to them after a seismic survey. Similar thing is expected to happen with SOMA. They have a parasite/host relationship that works for them

Some inconsistencies with this speech of the minister. To start with, typical re-negotiations will take time. Issues such a block demarcations will drag things somewhat. The blocks awarded in the 80's were so big that they only had less than five companies covering the entire shoreline of the country. The practice nowadays is to award much smaller blocks, so that in itself is a major challenge. He also then has to deal with the problem of revenue shares. Previous agreements were all in favour of the commercial companies and nowadays deals are structured very differently as there is serious competition amongst them. Finally you award the contract. Note that from awarding to the commencement of project could be anything between 1-3 yrs and after several failed attempts and what they term as "dry wells", they may or may not find oil. The statement that we "shall" produce is therefore premature. Assuming they discover commercially viable amounts, it usually takes 6-10 years before the product actually reaches market. As such and despite all of us wanting to see this succeeded, the minister's speech in my view was premature at best, downright irresponsible at worst for giving such false hopes. Anyone that has ever worked in the industry will know this to be incorrect.

Reprogramming being the operative word here. Sadly these so called politicians fed the people a diet of hatred and false hopes. It will need a real leader to do right by them. That said, the rest of somalis have the duty to help our brethren as well. The federal government should give the incentives needed to ease their reintegration.
