  1. ^ Good point. Creating identical training conditions for athletes the world over is impossible, so there is no sense in trying to control only one of the many possibly confounding variables to a competition.

Human Dignity (1) Human dignity is given by God to every human being, and this is the basis for all human rights. (2) Human dignity is inviolable and must be protected by all. (3) State power must not be exercised in a manner that violates human dignity. A mayor cannot pass any laws. This mayor has more pressing issues than this. His days are over. What about the right to human diginity one has to not be confronted with immoral behaviour in a public space?
  3. Wow. Maasha'Allah wiilkan yari caadi maaha.

  5. Let him adress both issues, but I definitely agree with u and Blessed that the rape should be a much much greater priority. Rapists should be given a swift trial and killed by a firing squad if found quilty.

  9. Waaryaa Oba, u yara kaadi abti. No one is calling for shabaab style micro managment of ppl's lives. All Tarzan is doing is telling people not to forget where they r, which is a culturally conservative Muslim country. Scantily clad women swimming along side young men is unacceptable. This doesn't even happen in Berbera, and al-shabaab has never had a foothold in Somaliland.
  10. Tarzan waan ku taageersanahay talaabadan. Looma dul qaadan karo anshax darro iyo fusuq toona. Somalis should enjoy their new found freedoms post al-shabaab within the bounds of reason, and should not affront the cultural and religious sensibilities of the country.
  11. From what i Know kadis means abrupt and unexpected. eg, 'Si kadis ah ayuu wadanka uga dhoofay.'

  13. Another slang that can be used is 'imtixaankii waan dul dhigay'
  14. Toronto has a lot of famous singers such as, Jubba Xasan aadan samatar Birimo Saynab Laba-dhagax Nakruuma Dalays Abdi-Jabbaar Al-Khaleeji
  15. I agree with those who say the correct term to use would be 'guul' as in 'imtixaanka waan ku guulaystay.' Also, just because a word is borrowed from Arabic doesn't mean it can't be considered somali, especially if there's no equivalent for it in our langauge. So the correct word for exam in somali is imtixaan. Languages are in a constant state of flux, and 'nativizing' loanwords from other languages is a perfectly natural and inevitable process. Over 10, 000 French words were adopted into English following the Normandy invasion and you won't hear anyone question y English users use words of French origin like battalion, capitalism or juice, as these are now considered standard English terms.
  16. Hadii aanad aaminsanayn in beeshani ay goostaan dhulka ay ka daganyihiin somaliland, sidee baad Ali Khaliif Galaydh u taageeri kartaa? odayga waan taageersanahay qadiyaddisana waan ka soo hor jeedaa wax soconaya maaha ee dhinac uun ku adkayso.
  17. Xaaji, siyaasaddaadu waa mid khariban oo aan is qabanayn sideedaba.
  18. Walaalayaal, yaan la isku wareerin Xabad iyo noociisa, waayo waa niman korka Soomaali uga eeg hoostana ferenji ka ah. Aroor walba waxay soo kacaan iyagoo leh 'way oo way, maxaa Soomaali liita iga dhigay, nasiib darada igu habsatay waynaa.' Waa qaar lagu khasaaray wallee iyo billee.
  19. I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me either. Insha'allah in the future the name will be changed.
  20. ^ Ma kaa dhab baa? You do know somalia is a foreign name too right?

  22. Can the Garre be considered Somali? I hear they speak a form of Afan-Oromo.
  23. Reeyo a lot of it has to do with the cultural transformation that has occured in Somalia in the last 2 decades. Axmad Ismaaciil Samatar was lamenting about the very same thing in a town hall meeting he was at last month. He said he was in Mogadishu for an extended period of time and did not witness a single song, gabay or buraanbur being performed anywhere in the city. He practically said the Somali culture was on it's death bed.
