  2. How many NGO's would u say operate in Hargaysa? And how is their work (or leck thereof) perceived by the general populous? Do people realize that it's nothing but a mashruuc mostly manned by self-interested failures who couldn't make it in the corporate and political worlds of the West, along with a smaller group of bleeding--heart leftist wackos, whose dreams of bringing about a utopia in African villages are quickly shattered by the beaurecratic and funding-centred (read profit-centred) nature of these NGO's?

Alpha Blondy;924293 wrote: artists and our cultural pioneers have a pivotal role to play in the rehabilitation of our broken social fabric. artists are the personification of society. we MUST encourage their involvement and seek their expert opinions in peace-building and rehabilitation efforts . we need talent which has been organically sourced to be given the platform to express their artistic talents to 'repair and rehabilitate' our broken society. certainly, the arts are a crucially medium which could make a huge contribution to nation building efforts - to create a national character and psyche. we MUST establish a 'capacity building' programme to reinvigorate the arts and to uplift our cultural icons to an esteemed position across the Somali peninsula. NGO buzzwords and gobbledegook get on my nerves. Do u work for one of those parasites in disguise Alpha?

  7. Xaaji, Ur right. We r a sick people. I used to be somaliwayn until recently. This jubbaland debacle just proves to me that Somalis aren't capable of unity nor understand the concept of nationhood. How can these people ask Somaliland to join them with a straight face???

First legitimate Government post civil war hails from usc clans. USC clans dominated Somali politics and economy past 22 years. Only if u consider Somaliland and Puntland politics to be outside the purview of Somali politics. If not, then Xaaji is right, there are no clear winners.

Alpha Blondy;923325 wrote: it is sad that this chinese girl has been subjected to horrendous racism but i think the chinese should be respected for their views on half breeds. i wouldn't tolerate such perverse race-mixing in my own culture nor should the chinese. its very easy to accuse the Chinese of being racist and what-have-yous but the truth of the matter remains they are protecting their race and culture from becoming impure. no country, nation or people should be given dictates by the liberal media and those who seek to create fake tokenist multiculturalism. if the Chinese want to preserve their race it seems perfectly reasonable. we should also bear in mind....the media networks of the west like CNN and the BBC are digging deeper and deeper into the social underbelly of China, in the hope of dishing out further nonsensical propaganda against China's global expansion. why should the Chinese be forced to compile with political correctness? +10000. I agree completely.

See Nuune, I told you with free enterprise the Somali people are more than able to cover their needs and compete--we don't need some grand vision or government entity to do this for us. Masha'Allah kulahaa. Most of these except for Amoud university and a few others are sorry excuses for post secondary institutions.
  17. Alpha walaal, We only have power over the decisions we make but the outcomes are detemined by a large degree by both 1. luck and 2. systemic and institutionalized norms that govern priviledge within society in accordance with ones relative position within the social hierarchy. The type of marriage, education, job and health care u will have will depend for the most part on those two variables regardless of the decisions u make. You may decide to be an upright man to attract an upright woman to marry for example, and she may turn out to be a witch 3 months into the marriage. This can be blamed on bad luck, because it happens to both men and woman who really did do their due diligence. As for the second variable, it will either increase or decrease ur access to quality woman, so ur decision to marry a quality woman may be inconsequential if ur a barely literate janitor living in the projects. Essentially, decisions we make set out our general life trajectory(eg, if u decide u wont engage in crime, u wont be a criminal)....but luck and priviledge (with both falling under Allah's Qadar) determine our successes and failures along the way.
  18. Alpha Blondy;923077 wrote: death by intoxication or death by the ''powers that be?'' LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL don't tell me you believe in those little conspiracies? Alpha, you must already know that ignorance breeds fear because the ignorant lack explanatory power. If one can't make sense of the world around them it's not very different than living in a dark and haunted house, where you have no idea what will jump out at u from every turn. In other words, in such a state you dont happen to the world, but the world happens to u. These conspiracies u speak of give otherwise bewildered and confounded youth the ability to make sense of the world. All of a sudden they can explain the 'real' reason behind very complicated, intricate and nuanced concepts, events and ideas by giving the ridiculously broad and all size fitting explanation of 'the illuminati is behind it' and then go on to make equally ridiculous tenuous connections between unrelated things, and lace the mundane with desperate commentary to expound their supposedly true esoteric and symbolic meanings. It's nuthing but a futile exercise in buffoonery if u ask me.
