Apophis;924990 wrote: How bad would it be if this whole government thing collapsed and everybody went back to administering their tuulo? Not too bad in my opinion. Maybe this Somalia thing should die for good, it's barely alive now. Y so harsh on secessionists then? Ahh...clan is everything, how could I forget.

SomaliPhilosopher;924981 wrote: My good sir, Wadani. I did indeed. I am well ware of the demographics of Hargeisa; I was there this past summer. But we are not talking about the people in Hargeisa, are we? As far as the kids, if you pay attention to their subtle diction you can observe this fear. When the kid gets bombed, the other one asks if they are in Xamar, making a mockery of the situation Southern Somalia has been in as well as showing his association of "bombs" with Xamar as if Hargeisa is immune to such tragedies. That's distatsteful humour, I agree. Still, I wouldn't describe it at as xenophobic.

SomaliPhilosopher;924960 wrote: Alpha why don't you watch this one and tell me once more these guys are driving a political point and not a victim of indoctrinated xenophobia towards "Somalia" This is by far the worse one Oba, How are they in anyway promoting or exhibiting an intense and irrational fear of people from Somalia? U did use the word xenophobia right? Do u not realize that u can't walk a few meters in Hargaysa without coming across a Somali from the south? Somalianders are not xenophobic to southerners, how could they be when they r the same people? That would be absurd. This somaliland/somalia issue is 100% political, nothing more nothing less.

People can learn the Turkish language. There's nothing wrong with it. Wat i object to is this paternalistic relationship developing between the 'benevolent' Turks and the ever grateful Somalis....leading Somalis to name their daughters Istanbul, fly Turkish flags all over Somalia and learn the Turkish language. One should learn a langauge for a desire to increase ones cultural capital or for practical reasons, eg jobs, but not because one is overwhelmed by gratitude to a benefactor, as this usually leads to a slave complex, where everything associated with the 'master' is better and everything indigenous is inferior. Somalis are already sick and tired of cultural imperialism, as we r still reeling from the effects of western colonialism and the more recent Arabization (dressed up as Islam)....we dont need a third Ottomon stage to take their places.

Somali Dastuur: PM does not have to be Muslim

Jacpher;924671 wrote: ^Fair enough but I don't think AS 'foreign extremism ideology' should be characterized as 'islamization program'. You say it's foreign extremism ideology yet you call it islamization programs. AS may spill blood to describe themselves that way but it ain't so no matter how much they claim it. Heck AS is winning the hearts and minds war if you think what they do is an islamization program. And yes some people will probably get turned off but I highly doubt to the point of leaving their deen. Again, Somalia never had an absolute religious government so expecting the public to embrace is setting yourself up for failure. We always had secular governments and never cleric judges or religious institution. Ok now I think were on the same page. I see y u object to me using the term Islamization program, because many of their methods and aims were far from Islamic. And I hope ur right that many won't leave their deen. -

Jacpher;924661 wrote: I summed your paragraph into one sentence and you get mad. Why? Do you get mad easily? Somalis were Muslims before the war, after the war, before AS and after AS. The idea that AS 'islamization programs' turn people into atheists and gaalo is....well fill the blank. By the way what islamization programs did AS bring to the country? Suicide bombing? Gunning down Sheikhs inside the masjid or soon after they step out? Blowing up school kids? What 'islamization programs' do you speak of. AS brought nothing but foreign extremism ideology that's contrary to the Islamic teaching . Even so, was it not their Islamization program? Where in my post did I say I thought their methods were representative of authentic Islam? R u being purposely tedious and disingenuous, because I know u know by now that I vehemently oppose the Shabaab. And if u dont know by now that the foreign extremist ideology u mentioned above is turning off many people from Islam as a way of life in general, then u r naive my friend. Lift your head up once in a while, the sand will always be there. -

Baashi;924596 wrote: Change "ethnic" to "clan" and add the fact that 95% of eligible voters cast their ballots along ethnic line (per this news report) and you would see Kenyans is not that different from Somalis when it comes to identity politics. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/07/world/africa/kenya-presidential-election.html?hp&_r=0 Oh but they are different, in fact very different, simply because the differences (cultural, linguistic, physical, religious) between these Kenyan ethnic groups and their interests are real, while the differences between Somali clans are non-existent which should have united them in their common interests as a homogenous people.

SomaliPhilosopher;924636 wrote: If you want to personalize the issue; I am by no means worried bud. if anything this provision constitutionally allows me to PM . But this is not about my worries or political ambitions. Its about why the writers made the requirement for the president and not the pm to be muslim, why the past two president have been sheikhs while the pms have been secular technocrats. Is this intentional? What are intentions behind it if so? Oo adiguna ma gaal waynaaday baad tahay? Ta ku dhashay baa ayaan daran. -
Somali Dastuur: PM does not have to be Muslim

Jacpher;924626 wrote: If you're worried about gaal PM for a country over 9.999% Muslims, then your worries are misplaced. I've never seen or spoken with a Somali gaal so I know chances are ZERO for a gaal PM to lead the nation especially in this day and age when the Somali MUSLIM government officials get killed for being murtadiin. I expect for AS to play that card to frighten people and claim Somalia is taken over by gaalo and the 'white man' This dastuur needs lots of work and it is not a holy and sacred book of the angles. Isn't the highlighted part the reason we can expect to have Somali gaals running for office? The heavy handed nature of Al-shabaabs Islamization program has caused the pendulum to swing the other way, with Somali atheists, secularists and libertines becoming more emboldened by the day as they represent themselves as the natural alternative to the extremism of al-shabaab. Relgious extremism is secularisms bestfriend. -
Taleexi, MJ's, Duriyadda and even HAG are generally united within themselves when it comes to their desired political trajectory. I know u will say the duriyadda have politicians in xamar, but these politicans do not respresent any constituency or sizable group of people back in Somaliland. The same cannot be said for the Khaatumo politicans in Garowe and Hargaysa. These guys have segments of their clan supporting them, or else the 'occupation' of Laascaanood would be impossible for Somaliland.

Don't ever slander my name by referring to me as a Neo-Con, simply because I refuse to support Hugo Chavez and his policies You're simple-minded, all of you! Sure, I agree with Hugo Chavez that the United States shouldn't be meddling in other countries affairs all the time. Sure I agree with Hugo when he said that George W Bush was a horrible President. But Hugo Chavez himself was a dictator. He imprisoned his opponents without trial, he restricted freedom of speech. He violated the property rights of his people. He opposed the Free Syria Movement. I could go on and on forever. But you people show your hypocrisy when you speak of supporting Chavez whilst criticizing men such as Siad Barre, who was just as bad Ur right, people have a simplistic binary vision of the world. I'm neither a neocon nor a socialist. Im more of an anti-imperialist/anti-neoliberal, anti-communist, socially conservative, economically liberal (in the classical sense), Somali nationalist Muslim.
