You can't tell us that you couldn't find a good Somali man anywhere. In your case you may find your parents' intervention useful. Just to let you know that there's a certain age when a Somali woman reaches she's more likely to be hit by a meteor than to get married. If you get there my friend, the number of degrees you may have in your possession will have no use in attracting men.

Depends on what region of Somalia you're referring to. It was a taboo to ever verbally abuse a woman in the olden days and you'd be heavily fined if you ever did that. But even this still depends on what region of Somalia we're talking about. It all boils down to the worth of the woman in question and this varied with the regions. Having said that, I personally think Somali men were much better husbands to their wives compared to the current ones. This I've seen from my own family, my parents, uncles and so on. But then, there're no many Somali families like my own. Seriously.

I'm sure you've all heard about the oil exploration in Puntland. Every time there has been discovery of a precious thing, diamond or oil in Africa it has contributed to the instability of the involved country. Armed groups might easily take advantage of this and take control of the businesses and international companies will still do business with these gangs and further fuel the conflict. Do you think this new development might further destabilise our country? The international community has long ignored Somalia because it was not in their interest that they actively get involved in the peace process or at least help calm down things. Do you think this will change because there's oil now?

I understand the deep wounds of disgrace that the current Somali condition inflicts on all of us. This is particularly painful for young Somalis whose identity and future are dominated by an intense and public failure they had nothing to do with. Living as a refugee in other parts of the world makes that agony and collective humiliation even more biting. Let's name one person or event whose absence would have considerably reduced the problems of Somalia today. A person whose non-existence would have eased the situation today. I think if General Aideed didn't hinder the UN peacekeeping mission in Somalia and didn't fight with the Americans in '93, things would've been much different today.

I do not understand. Apart from not wanting to be part of Somaliland, do these people have other grievances? I mean something that justifies their armed struggle, hate and everything. Something the Somaliland administration has done to them? Somebody enlighten me, maybe a member of the group. Just honest curiosity..

Somalis behind bars I think are a burden to the system, feeding these losers and clothing them isn't a bright thing to do. Why not deport them all, apart from the ones who've committed serious crimes. Some of these dimwits were living in refugee camps in sub human conditions and now they've all of a sudden forgotten where they are from. The most ungrateful thing to do, breaking the laws of the country that has given you a second chance in life.
