Sorry to hear about your father. May Allah have mercy on his soul. Why is it useless to find someone out of your area? I do not think degrees scare men, that is a myth and please do perish those thoughts. If you're hell-bent on only marrying men from your 'local area' then you may have problems, or if you are looking for men with x number of degrees. The more you trim on your expectations the more you increase your chances of finding a man and getting married. Good luck.
  2. You can't tell us that you couldn't find a good Somali man anywhere. In your case you may find your parents' intervention useful. Just to let you know that there's a certain age when a Somali woman reaches she's more likely to be hit by a meteor than to get married. If you get there my friend, the number of degrees you may have in your possession will have no use in attracting men.
  3. Beautiful eye! Meant for the person above the person above!
  4. Depends on what region of Somalia you're referring to. It was a taboo to ever verbally abuse a woman in the olden days and you'd be heavily fined if you ever did that. But even this still depends on what region of Somalia we're talking about. It all boils down to the worth of the woman in question and this varied with the regions. Having said that, I personally think Somali men were much better husbands to their wives compared to the current ones. This I've seen from my own family, my parents, uncles and so on. But then, there're no many Somali families like my own. Seriously.

  6. GaroweGal;779421 wrote: There aren't many good men! I am more supportive of Somali women marrying outside the race today, then I was a year ago. It's only fair to assume that your opinion is shaped by the men in your life, starting from the father, brothers, uncles, cousins, friends, husband/ex-husbands etc etc. Since they are the closest to you.
  7. I'm sure you've all heard about the oil exploration in Puntland. Every time there has been discovery of a precious thing, diamond or oil in Africa it has contributed to the instability of the involved country. Armed groups might easily take advantage of this and take control of the businesses and international companies will still do business with these gangs and further fuel the conflict. Do you think this new development might further destabilise our country? The international community has long ignored Somalia because it was not in their interest that they actively get involved in the peace process or at least help calm down things. Do you think this will change because there's oil now?

The blame rests on me, you, he, she, they, we, us, all of us. I get your point but there are individuals who made enormous errors. Errors that ended up being so costly. Individuals who had a huge following within the country and could do a lot to steer the country in the right direction before things got out of hand but instead chose not to.

Go ask the survivors of the 1989 ambush of Wadamagoo and Beer. Another mass murder occurred in Xudun, Ceerigaabo, where the SNM militia attacked civilians on a Eid Celebration and killed hundreds of men, women and children. Did I mention how the SNM completely annihilated the famous Refugee Camp near Hergeisa that was harboring the Somali (OG and Awdal Clans, mainly) who were evacuteed from the Mengistu oppression in Somali Galbeed? YES, the camp hosted over 350,000 refugees, mainly from the OG and Awdal tribes and in 1991, after the Somali National Government of Siyaad Barre collapsed, the SNM moved in like Cockroaches and systematically killed the refugees of that camp. SNM militia are the enemy of Somalia. They hate and have killed ANY Somali that isn't from the tribes of Hergeisa, Burco and Berbera. So, why should anyone from Awdal, SSC and Maakhir agree to go under their rule? That's ridiculous! lol Somalilanders always say they protected those refugees and allowed them to safely return to their original homeland. Do you have any proof of these atrocities you spoke of? Any documentation?
  11. I understand the deep wounds of disgrace that the current Somali condition inflicts on all of us. This is particularly painful for young Somalis whose identity and future are dominated by an intense and public failure they had nothing to do with. Living as a refugee in other parts of the world makes that agony and collective humiliation even more biting. Let's name one person or event whose absence would have considerably reduced the problems of Somalia today. A person whose non-existence would have eased the situation today. I think if General Aideed didn't hinder the UN peacekeeping mission in Somalia and didn't fight with the Americans in '93, things would've been much different today.
  12. I do not understand. Apart from not wanting to be part of Somaliland, do these people have other grievances? I mean something that justifies their armed struggle, hate and everything. Something the Somaliland administration has done to them? Somebody enlighten me, maybe a member of the group. Just honest curiosity..

Brother Bilaal Al-Barjawi, a native of Lebanon also known as Abu Hafsa, attained Martyrdom as a result of the strikes as Allah had ordained. Though the origin of the drone is not yet confirmed, the immutable facts remain unambiguously clear; the Martyrdom of Abu Hafsa, much like the Martyrdom of many other Mujahideen before him, shall not hinder the progress of Jihad; rather it is the blood of such Martyrs that irrigates the path of Jihad and provides a renewed impetus to the determination of the Mujahideen. Abu Hafsa grew up in West London and embarked on the caravan of Jihad to protect the honour of Islam after arriving in Somalia in early 2006. Renouncing the vanities of life in the west, a life that he felt was characterised by unbridled hedonism and decadence, Abu Hafsa was among the first batch of Mujahideen to grace the Land of Two Migarations with their presence and took on a distinguished role in the fight against the warlords that terrorized the city of Mogadishu at the time. Throughout his stay in Somalia, Abu Hafsa participated in most of the major battles and was known for his gallantry and steadfastness in the face of the crusaders and their apostate allies. Marching forth along the path of trials and tribulation, our brother’s devotion to Jihad was unmatched and his resolve unshakable. With a burning passion for Martyrdom in the cause of Allah, Abu Hafsa’s motto ‘the supremacy of Allah’s Word and liberation of Muslims from the throes of humiliation’ remained powerfully embedded in his heart until his last breath. Martyrdom is an honour that adorns the face of a man killed whilst in pursuit of such a noble objective as Islam. So Rejoice, O Ummah of Muhammad, for such are the examples of the sons bred in your midst. Rejoice and emulate the spirit of your Martyrs, for such are the noble men who sacrificed their lives for the protection of your dignity. We ask Allah to accept our brother as a Matryr in His cause and grant him the elevated levels of Jannah that he persistently strived for. * Press Office HSM.press@yahoo.com Harakat Al-Shabaab Al Mujahideen *### ...........................

  18. Muqdisho yaa leh? Waa su'aal weyn. Su'aashaas anigu waxaan kaga jawaabi karaa inaan ka jawaabo su'aal kale oon sheego qofka aan Muqdisho lahaan karin. Muqdisho yaan lahaan karin? Horta markaad wax leedahay waxaa lagu yaqaanaa lajeclo, inuu wixii aad lahayd lacjeclo kaa galo. Qofka wax uu lahaa oo laga haystay markii loo soo celiyo (amaba isagu soo ceshado) waxaa lagu yaqaanaa inuu wixii ilaashado uu ka dhawro wax walba oo dhib u keeni kara waxaas. Muqdisho qofka laamiyadeeda fujistay wax kale iskaba dhaafe, ma lahaan karo. Muqdisho qofka burburiyay oo xataa jidadkii jajabiyay xaq uma laha inuu yiraahdo anigaa iska leh. 20. Highest achieving Somalis, most famous Somalis. Somalis whose actions and opinions strongly influenced others as well as the course of events. Could be an athlete, politician, scholar et cetera. This is my list. 1.Seyyid Mohammed Abdulle Hassan Islamic scholar and freedom fighter. He established the Dervish state in Somalia and fought an anti-imperial war against the British, Italians and Ethiopians. Also the most prolific poet in Somali history. 2. Imam Ahmed ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi As an Imam and General of Adal he invaded Ethiopia and defeated several Ethiopian emperors, wreaking much damage on that kingdom. 3.Sheikh Uways Al Barawi Sheikh Uways' influence can be felt throughout East Africa: From the islands surrounding Zanzibar to as far west as the Eastern Congo and as far south as the Tanganyika. His influence in Zanzibar alone was attributed to his close relationship with the Sultanate, two of whom he took as his Khalifah. He is the founder of the Uwaysiyya order of Sufism. 4.Abdi Bile Abdi Bile won the 1500 m World Championship in 1987, running the final 800 m of the race in 1:46.0, the fastest final 800 m of any 1,500 meter race in history. He was a two-time Olympian (1984 and 1996) and dominated the event in the late 1980s. Bile was ranked first in the world at the mile distance in 1989. He was World Cup champion in the 1500 m in 1989 and two-time world Grand Prix final champion. 5.Asli Hassan Abade Asli Hassan Abade (Somali: Asli Xasan Cabaade, Arabic: عسلي حسن آباد‎) was the first and so far only female pilot in the Somali Air Force and in Somali history.

Say, the man finished high school and the woman finished master's degree. High school diploma is a fair achievement. Somali men used to go abroad, get a p.h.D , come back home and settle down with a Somali woman who couldn't sign her own name. Somali Islamic scholars would marry a woman who couldn't recite Faatixa, couldn't tell between Asr and Dhuhr prayers then teach her the deen at home.
  22. Somalis behind bars I think are a burden to the system, feeding these losers and clothing them isn't a bright thing to do. Why not deport them all, apart from the ones who've committed serious crimes. Some of these dimwits were living in refugee camps in sub human conditions and now they've all of a sudden forgotten where they are from. The most ungrateful thing to do, breaking the laws of the country that has given you a second chance in life.

The latter is a lesser crime in God's court + you save yourself the torturous ordeal of being overrun by a deer in the hereafter
