There's a huge difference between the random chitchat that largely goes on here, the debating and asking for a serious advice on how to find a partner. The latter in my opinion is desperate. That was my opinion. I don't understand why that would offend you . Members here have different views and beliefs.

Lol, such a cheap shot Mr. Mod. My thread has nothing to do with the whining of lonely members who can't find a spouse in real life. It was a normal question I posed to the members. Try harder, maybe you should dig into my past threads to come up with a better, more appropriate post that may help serve your intended purpose. I didn't mean to hurt you or any other member with my post. Twas just my two cents. My apologies and good luck with the icelandic girl

Don't understand why anyone would seek a serious advice concerning marriage here. That, frankly in my opinion, borders on desperation. This is strictly a family issue, unless of course you have none. If you don't have a real, physical family to consult then maybe you can turn to SOL or similar sites as a last resort.

That pic is very graphic. Surprised as to why the sub-clan members of this guys didn't react. I believe these men belong to the 'minor', smaller clans.

I come from a very nasab subclan within the duriyadda, yet I don't count that many names back to the Old man. It's like 16 names. What does this mean for me and the future of my kids???? Lol, that roughly translates to 'laangaabnimo'. You are aware that within the duriyada itself there are 'minors'. That, for the future of your children, may mean that they belong to a smaller sub-group within the duriyada

I'm really interested in this issue in general. The condoning of slavery in Islam is beyond my comprehension and logic. Maybe it's one of the deep wisdoms of Allah and a mere human like I can't grasp...it feels just wrong to enslave a fellow human whether he/she is a POW or not. Even more gross is the condoning of sex slaves. I'm muslim but some things are just too much for moi

I agree that he was a great scholar but there were better scholars both in his time and before. The wahhabis sort of ignore other Islamic scholars and always talk about Ibn Qayim and Ibn Taymiyah. Don't know why that's so.

When I was small, I was an avid reader of mostly story books and children's novels. My first ever book was called ''What a fright'', contained a collection of stories. Don't know where Aabo bought it from, but he brought 2 of such, one for moi and the other for my brother. I was 7 then. What is the first book you ever read? Cheers

How many people browse SoL from either an iPad or mobile phone?
somalee replied to Nin-Yaaban's topic in General
I'm using my phone to post this now. It's much easier for me when am using the PC to post, but when it comes to only going around the forum and just reading posts without having to post anything then it doesn't make a difference. In that case, browsing from a phone is equally convenient for moi :-) -
Arab-Israeli is mighty fine . Xaaji do you have a collection of these photos, the hard copies? Just asking

The feeling you get when you pee after you've held it for so long. Should've included that too :-)

Alpha Blondy;906776 wrote: what nonsense! That's an insult to the countless young women who've been brutally gang raped. It's taboo now to walk around with a young female at night in the areas of Goljano, especially the ''laagta'' part, New Hargeysa and Cabaaye, or you'll risk the gang raping of whoever is with you irrespective of the relationship, and whatever valuable possession you may have with you will be taken. Everybody who has lived in Hargeysa long enough will attest to this.

Waranle_Warrior;905924 wrote: Rape is hideous crime and cruel act but I don't think its common or prevalent within the Somali society. Only if you classify taking young brides and marrying as many as four wives as rape, even with that you cannot boost the number of rape cases in Somalia. That's not true. Rape is rife and ubiquitous in Somalia but it's actually underreported. It was very frightening when I found out how rampant rape is even in a relatively peaceful city like Hargeysa. Young men who are armed with knives and swords roam around the city at night robbing men and gang raping women. They're called ''dabaajiir'' by the locals and largely ignored.

Tommy Robinson Hates Illegal Immigrants, Becomes One
somalee replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in General
Who is Stephen Lennon? Is he the same person as Tommy Robinson? The link you posted says it's the former who was jailed for entering the U.S. illegally then used his own passport which bore the name Paul Harris to return to the UK. What's the real name of the man who was jailed? -
Alpha Blondy;905872 wrote: mate, i see the glass as half full in my everyday 'realities' of life but the glass has already run empty as far as my hope and optimism is concerned .i also think the two are different (you in the reality but also your inner self). its the people and their egos that really hurt me the most. its their petty nature and how small their view of the wider world is. we're as individuals a mere particle but collectively we're capable of so much more. societal based values have been lost in the harsh realities of life. the world is full of broken people and as a result their cynical nature has all but made them numb. i don't want to be like this. i want to be able to make a difference and i'm already doing that even if it doesn't generate media coverage. at the end of the day, we're only in control of our lives and those closest to us and nothing more. we should use what little gravitas that remains to benefit our own self individual interests. there is no point in playing the hero and getting screwed. be kind, give to charity, live by modest means, remain humble, never underestimate anyone, trust no one, keep family close and drinking plenty of water. have no expectations of anyone. rely only on yourself and give but only what's necessary to people. keep the rest for you because you don't know when you'll need that energy. also avoid the broken-cynical-sad-opinionated people of this world as they will sap your energy and drag you down with them. cheers. Lol, I think seeing the glass as empty is very cynical. Good words though

Apophis;905871 wrote: I'm the opposite to you i.e a brutal realist. I don't base anything on hope but reasoned expectations.. If I was you, life would be awful . If we all based all of our decisions on ''reasoned expectations'' then we would be reluctant to venture into the unknown. Most of the discoveries that humans have made were somehow fueled by hope. There can't be hope if there's no a certain degree of or complete uncertainty. 'Brutal' rationalists like you often lose the human touch and are reduced to machine-like creatures. Am a realist too, but only selectively.
-
Am staunchly optimistic, personally. This has made me overlook the so called ''realities'' of life. It has served me well but sometimes let me down as well. Sometimes I have wondered whether my expectations were realistic. Now I ask, if there's a limit for hope. I pose this to the seasoned Solers and the newbies (like me) alike. Between these two, where does one end and the other start?
