The next interim government will be ratfying the constitution when all stake holders are included. TFG's job now is to capture as much territories as possibe before august and then after the elections we can have a constitutional government. I like his optimism though but we need to be also realistic. Mario, What is with your cryptic sarcasm - the southern push is on, a large-scale of Kenyan forces with their Fighter jets, heavy artillery, helicopters are on the move finally and are no longer mud-stuck in Dhobley since October last year waryaa

Here is Major Abdi, with the X-ray - the bullet still clinging into his neck - supporting his family, a man with an amazing resilience and character. http://www.somaliareport.com/fullimage.php?img=Major_Abdi_with_Bullet.jpg

Umal & haruun...as members and Dusting off old distain warlords in which successive tfg entities were able to rebuke them successfully. As for the perception of majority being against, from reading it – This is an excellent document which sets out the frame work for a supreme law in all aspects of society, very good draft with gaps and objectionable parameters to some of the articles, what it is ‘not, however is, an outright treachery & betrayal of Somali’s sovereignty and immoral doc against Islam that should be abolished as some charge. It was PM Gas and MR Hosh's failure and their hasty deliberation to conclude this document delivery before June 3rd in Istanbul and the subsequent macho mantra that fuelled & endured this Majority against vs Minority for it. I seriously doubt the real quarrel that sparked the fire, was ever about specifics as some pretend.
  6. Qandalaawi - its obvious what is missing are not a major pieces but a details that needs amending, true. But the PM insisted to get tough, knowing full well there was no need for it - which he only escalated the whole matter. Carafaat, waan arkay waxa laga qaylinayo - from Sh. bashir to the professors. their main grievance waa process of drafting. dee what process? maxaa drafting ah - since there is a time and place to discuss and vote on it articles by article.
  7. yes - I have read it - there is plenty of well placed criticism that can be leveled against this constitution. One doesn't have to be blind cynic or charade opponents of this constitution - just because "All Puntlanders" seem to be for it, to find gaps with regards to birth rights, citizenship, the extent of Islamic law in government, and totally muted clause of the legal borders both land or sea. None of those, however, should be the basis of rejecting this document, but, amending them as needed. Given this is " Dastuur aan dhamaystiran " with none other than Prime minister C-Wali committee of over 900 individuals from all Somali stake-holders was planned to be setup to rectify it. - the debate on the content of a document that is yet to be ratified, voted, or amended is futile debate. The real issue is how the TFG and PM. Gas in particular handled or created the issue?. This whole debacle was the failure of PM. Gas's doing - who was neither prepared nor had any media strategy on the initial tabling of this document. he started this fire storm. initially, when the media quizzed, on certain aspects of the document that people found objectionable, he countered "Dad isbaaro u dhigankaro maleh dastuurkan". All that was needed, was for him to defuse the situation, by stating that there is planned committee to review it, vote, and their concerns will be addressed at that time. On the contrary, he was more defiant, and dismissive on subsequent days by raggedy up the tough talk - saying those appose 'waa dad'aan aqoon sida wax loo akhriyo'. What makes PM Gas's failure more plausible is not only his indifference to his responsibility of playing a mediator role, but also his willingness to open himself up to scrutiny by serving as the instigator surrounding the issue, as supposed to defusing it. It was combination of lack of foresight and his combative Faroole style talk which raised the stakes higher, turning a none issue to an anger and resentment all on his own - to this end the PM Gas showed his inability to garner confident, get ahead on the pr front or win consensus in producing a framework document for generations. Further, taunting any one appose to any of the 179 articles in the document, its him who created the initial uproar, it was also, him who gave "spoilers" a cause to misinform the masses. Even, as the president buckled under fire , putting him cross-path with his PM. Mr Gas, still was not able to grasp, change his tone, to ease doubters and offer consultation regarding this issue. MR.Gas dropped the ball on this one, his tough talks are not frank nor paint a picture of candid politician. Faroole's minions in sol or Xiin himself may conveniently get away by disparaging those against any dhambaal of the constitution are spoilers of past two decades - but they will not avoid the architect who triggered it as a PR disaster.

  14. Carafaat with a thread Worthy of contribution  One small unique, but fading Somali attribute that is admirable is hospitality for trying to pay meals for acquaintances or strangers at times. Just last week - I was stranded at Heath-row airport for hours and Somali dude who I have met there and myself were in dispute on who would pay for the tab after breakfast. One by-standard thought there was some sort of altercation...

  16. My fond memories of Afgoye, the sweetest Orange & guava fruits I ever had. Its the last place I have ever seen miles of fruit farms, As kids we used hitch-hike from Madina district go into Afgoye's acres of fruit farms, reaching out and dislodging fruits from trees with your own hands. I recall suddenly being chased and whipped by farmers... imagine eating juicy Mango's while watching Istunka festival.. Waryaa Bisadoow, how recent are the top 5 images...

  19. These two have been simmering under the surface for few weeks, its now in the public domain. an other PM vs president rift is on again. Not a shocker, since 2000 in Arta - this time could be more damaging considering the gains that has been made.

Must you try to belittle this formidable women's quality and qualifications as nothing but ploy and tool b/w Amin and Farmaajo. waryaa cuqdada iska saar, Attack Amin or Farmaajo which is fine, but this clip displays Drs Maryam as one formidable leader with or with out this party and should be celebrated in today's Somalia where there is no women on the stage.
