From 1965 to 1979, Rhodesia (its original name) was one of the most wealthiest nations in the world and was the bread basket of Africa. They managed to do that with economic sanctions, boycotts, riots, rebellions etc.. From 1980 onwards it has been a hell hole. Don't defend the indefinsible!

I think the writer was referring to North-Eastern Africa . Good on Somaliland for making it easier to invest in their region and I hope it becomes more transparent.
