Nin Yaaban, you should have your own Crime program on Somali TV. the somali version of Americas most wanted.

Xaaji, there are certain things that one doesnt joke around with in Somalia. that is clan lineages, religion and accents. However you can throw around 'mother' (habarta) jokes as much as you want.

Culusoow really needs to tackle the central regions of Somalia. So far his goverment focused on improving the situation in Bay/Bakool, Shabelles, Hiiraan and Jubbaland. But the goverment really needs to take steps in improving the situation in central regions with its half a dozen clan states.

yes, you should definetly visit and give us the real story from the ground. I am curious specially at how divers Kismayo actually is?

Alpha, Please don't call President Siilanyo, big Sil. After all he is the leader of the brave and of the free.

Oba, af somaliga ayaa kugu adag. 'Dhulka ayee ila dhaceen' should not be taken literaly, it means 'someone insulted him'. Waa dacayad, and nothing can be done against daacayad in Somaliland. Its part of xuquuqal insaanka, a basic human right in Somaliland. ;D

Xiin, are you saying Godane crossed all those Federal States (Jubbaland, Banadir, Hiiraan, Ximan iyo Xeeb,ASWJ,Galgaduud, Puntland and Khatumo) and couldn't even catch him. Even with the foreign support of Kenya, Ethiopia,Burundi, Djibouti and Sirra Leone? Adeer, federalism and federal states ayaa caayisaa.

Somalia, habro's waa hilarious. Anigii baa macaa la yaaba ruwayadaha mararka qaar ee la yimaadan. -
Oba, I was in Hargeysa when Al Shabaab killed more then 30 people in 3 suicide attacks. Two people I knew who were killed in that explosion where both from Godane's sub-clan. These attacks created a shock throughout society and the extra security measures that were tacken back then, a still in force today. One of newspapers publiched a list of all Al Shabaab supporters that are in jail and their respective sub-clans, I can tell you that no signle sub-clan is missing from that list. No clan that can protect those who attack innocent people in these vicious attacks.

I think so too. But I princibally oppose the death penalty, even for Godane eventhough he deserves it.
-
If Godane gets cought. He will be trialed and receive life sentence for the attacks on Hargeysa of november 2008. More then 30 died in those explosioned that were carried out by Al Shabaab. P.S. Che, so Godane is not your leader anymore? So you have definetly embraced Faroole.

Xiinfaniin, the clan road blocks in Mogadishu have been removed. Its a diffrent situation now. there are only government security checks now. lets not put up new clan road blocks(or militias/admins) but let us remove them from the rest of the country.

Printing money, bringing foreign troops, conspiring with foreign countries against the own Government, multiple administrations in the same cities/regions, signing oil/mineral contracts with foreign countries, deporting Somalis from one region to another, redrawing the maps according to clan lines. For sure Federalism, as many pending issues and impracticalities. I am out y'all.

Ilyria seems to have object the Somali Republic's Union of Somaliland and Somalia. Even with the songs he has 'issues'.

I am not blaming anyone Xaaji. I am just emphasizing that HAG is an umbrella and Muqdisho's Mayor Tarzan doesnt below to the two main subclan. You cant say the same of Puntland, which has been controlled by the same sub-sub-sub clan since 1998. I am sure If Tarzan can become Mayor of Banadir, so can anyone else. Its not a clan state or monoply. listen to Tarzans speech.

ElPunto, I told you why federalism cant work in Somalia and will have a paralyzing effect. But you closed your eyes for those arguments and I am telling you to open your eyes, these are new times which need new solutions. What was a solution for Puntland in 1998, is not a solution for the rest of Somalia in 2013! If Mogadishu with 16 districts can have a unified administration, so can Mudug, so can Galkacyo, so can any other region in Somalia. No need to redraw the borders of Somalia according to clan. It wont solve anything, except create an ungovernable country in which regions act as if they are countries.
-
ElPunto, The author made some pretty good arguments and you just repeated the same statements in line with the old prescription of 1998. What was a temporary solution back in 1998 with clan administration, dividing regions and peoples, a divided Mudug and a divided Galkacyo, you are describing for the rest of Somalis in 2013. Why dont you try to come with new arguments and a new vision in line with recent developments in Mogadishu. The city has moved, it is being pacified, the green line that existed for decades has been removed and the city has a unified leadership. For sure the same can be done In Mudug and Galkacyo and in other regions. Or are you still convinced that people(clans) can't share a common local and regional government administration? Think of a new prescription in line with new times and new developments!

If all federal regions have buy-in to the national policies - how can federalism impede effective Somali union? This argument is saying that a future federal Somalia would be the only federal country in the world unable to project its broad national interest while all the rest can and thus federalism is the cause. The case of Kismayo is a pretty good example what is to come in a federal Somalia. Division, Disunity and Decapitating any small step Somalia will try to make(even if that means with the help of Foreign muscles) . I dont think Somalia would survice another Kismayo debacle. One more case like that and we can say goodbye to any aspiration the Somali people will have.
