Bargaal: Assassins murder an MP cause the opposite effect
Carafaat replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Trying to spin yet another assisanation. Maybe looking at the cause and trying to do something about it would be healthier. -

UNPOS moving to Mogadishu from Nairobi shocks the Secessionist, why?
Carafaat replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Trying to create rift that doesnt exist. Why would someone do that? -
Shamefull article. Particularly because it's Puntland who backstapped the clan.

Another assasinmation and yet some choose to pre-occupy themselves with Somaliland. Rather then briinging ones house in order. Where is Dukey.

Zack, I oppose this war. But tell me how how posting of dead soldeiers bodies and cheeering for a militia is oppositiom to war? The names you have mentioned, have not one single time said they opposed the war and they support the milia. So tell how supporting a milia is opposing the war. War naga tag. Bahashadu wee cadahay.

Taleexi, one can also state that tide has turned on centrist focussed politics who sought Solutions in TNG, TFG's or Muqdisho or clan minded politics who followed the previously to Garowe and Puntland. And they have returned home finally after failed caravaans to Kismayo, Garowe, Arta, Embaghati and Muqdisho. Is a matter of perspective, yaa Taleexi.

Aside from the exaggerations and stigmatisation, the author has a point that it appears to many that clannism has re-surfaced where it not that it was always there and UDUB tried to hide under a big blanket. And I see it as the last kicking breath of a dying ideology.

Xaaji, when you have things in common you make an arrangement to govern the shared, one facilitates the wishes of all sides. And in the Somalio case the diffrent admins and goverment divers in character, nature and legal status. Djibouti is a country consisting of 2 people's and not only Somali's. Somaliland is not an int recongnized country nor does it have authority on all the land is claims. Somali region of Ethiopia is federal state part of Ethiopia. Puntland, Galmudug, Xuman Xeeb, Hiiraan, ASWJ, all maamuls that are differs in status and capacity, ets. TFG, only control of Banadit region. NE and NW Provinces of Kenya are in majority somali regions of Kenya. Will have its own regional governance in the future. Even with the emergence of a future Somalia goverment will not have authority in all the Somali regions nor can govern the Somali Public Goods without regional other stakeholders. Therefor I would suggest a non-Political Somali wide Guurti consisting of elders, with support or advice of acamdemics and specialist that Advice and strive for the good governance of Somali Public Goods. This Guurti could be appointed by local communities or by respective local, regional goverments or Goolo deegaans from all over the Horn of Africa.

. Global public goods are aspects of development that reach across borders: Examples include the environment, public health, int security, food markets international trade and financial infrastructure. Actions are often needed that extend beyond what market systems or individual countries can do on their own If you look at the Somali context what could be Public Goods that is shared, cant be managed by individual country? -the sea and marine resources -trade -clan conflicts, clan relations and peace between clans and people's -Somali language -livestock and enviroment(deegaan) - movement of people or migration -religious movements -culture Can you think of other Publuc Goods in the Somali context? Do you think we should find away to manage these public goods and what would be the best way or structure? Considering all the diffrent stakeholders andtheir diffrent status

Even the Brits are not certain of Somaliland's Attendance
Carafaat replied to Mintid Farayar's topic in Politics
Mintid, Indeed I have presented you as my political opponent. Not because I regard you as a hardliner, but as a 'Islanderr' who 's world horizon doesnt seem to pass Taleex to the east and Baligubadle to the south. See this places as the last frontier, not realzing what happens in Garowe affects Taleex and what happens in Jigjiga effects Baligubadle. Somaliland is not an Island, its a land governed by an administration called the Goverment of Somaliland which aspires to be recongnized internationally as a souvereign country. I regard Somaliland already souvereign domesticly. Irrelevant if its recongnized or not Somaliland is not Island, its interlinked with its neighbours and sourranding, enviroment. You say that everything what happens outside in Somaliland is not our business I say it is our business. When Saudi Arabia banned our livestock with support from Djibouti and TNG, it affected our most vulnerable people living nomadic life. When Piracy is conducted and condened in Somalia, it affects the supply lines of our import and export(livestock) and raising the price for insurance, risk and transportation cost. Increasing food prices. When Somali region of Ethiopia's goverment and police play hide and seek in the web of ONLF, nomads. It affects Wojale, Baligubadle, Ina Guuxa, etc. When Al Shabaab gained power in Somalia it resulted in many bomb attacks, assasinations, and hundreds of arrested Al Shabaab terrorist mainly from the Somaliland clans, high security alert, this was only in 2009. When AUN Aidiid and Ali Mahdi were battling eachiother in Moqadishu, it affected even the internal conflict of Somaliland. When a villager in Galgala(Bari) is fighting Puntland security forces in the Bari Mountains, it affects people up to Erigavo. When a clan holds a meeting in border town called Taleex, it affects the surrounding clans. International recongnition wont bring any solutions nor make Somaliland an Island. It wont bring stabillity nor stronger institutions without being iin cohesion with surrounding. Otherwise NFD, Djibouti and Somali region would be in much better stage, if int recongnition or borders create security and safety from surrounding. You stay Somalia is hopeless , then I can safely say that this means nothing good for Somaliland. Just as Somaliland's situation will affect Somali region and. Vica versa. What does this all have to do with Londen Conference? The Londen Conference will bring stakeholders of Somalia together to discuss a way forward for the governance of Somalia. Irrelevent if Somaliland goverment participates or not. The situation there on the ground will and has always affected Somaliland. Now has Somaliland the choice to make sure the project doesnt fail this time, by constructivly contributing. And if Somaliland's case of int recongnition is indeed in the interest of the wider region and geopolitical enviroment, then it can present its case Somaliland's attence of any meeting with Somalia's actors can only positivly influence the region and Somaliland. Such a meeting would not negativly affect my and your tuulo in Somaliland. Except for the mood of some folks, who wont immediatly smile and because they expected something else. But the mood of our people is as fluid as the red sea and will soon change, if we can come with something better or atleast with the same as the current status quo of Somaliland. I belief we can only win, if we preserve the good and strive for something much better on top. Now can you explain in which way attendence of this meeting or a deal with Somalia negativly influence Somaliland and my folks in tuulo's and myi? -
Good folks those Badhan and Dhahar people. The two track policy has proved to be working well for them, decreasing tension and instability and creating added value by working with Somaliland admin without giving up political clan alliance with Puntland. We should take example of such political strategic roads. Loyaltly to one political goal doesnt need to contradict the other.

What us up with these former officials asssinating new officials. When I was in Puntland former head of police tried to assasinate the new Police commissionar. The former was supporting by his own clan militia. That was 3 years ago.

The Zack;781157 wrote: SOLers, We are hereby to officially declare our position on the war in Buuhoodle, Soomaaliya. Our position is the position of every sane and nationalistic Somali. We oppose the naked aggression of Somaliland and we call upon Mr. Siilaanyo to pull out his troops from the lands of the dervishes, the dervishes. Mr.Siilaanyo has to upheld dhaqanka iyo Somalinimada and stop this. Based on very authentic and reliable sources, more than 20 lives have been taken since these aggressions have started, Siilaanyo, don't take any more lives. You will be responsible for any causalities regardless of the side it impacts. Our message to the people of Khatumo is, you had done an extraordinary job defending Buuhoodle and its outskirts. Keep doing what you are doing, it is the right thing to do. We are with you mentally and we shall be with you physically should these attacks continue. Wa billaahi Towfiiq. Purest of form of Daruodism hiding behind Somalinimo. We have seen that bullshit before. Got something new?

AT&T, Xiin, Khadar, Aaliyah, Liibaan are all against it. NGONGE, you can't be "neutral" on this one, old man. Take a position. This what you call ******ism or Siyadism/Sayidism in its purest form. Trying to dress up naked clannism. Tell me how those who cheer for a militia who's main objective is to wage war and free its land, are against a war?

Folks from that place have no idea about reality Somalia. They think everything is about PR, Propaganda and clan.

Dr.Osman, was the MP killed because of his support for Puntland? What imcplications will this latest assasination have?

ElPunto;780805 wrote: I don't know if it was 2 dozen but I do remember people being displaced. And surely some died. I think for many people you can't square overall support for Somaliland's attempt at border closure with what's happening in terms of killings and attacks. To a degree yours is a nuanced position but it is, imo, not very tenable for if people don't want to come over willingly - you can't support any border closure since it can only come violently. It has little to do with border closure. But the clashes of the last year in Buuhoodle have to with a recently established armed militia. Which the goverment sees as a danger and go against all the peace treaties signed in the last two decades. Other villages "borders" have not been closed nor was there fighting in Boocame, Taleex, etc. When you establish an armed militia, you can expect that it can lead to violance. When my "tuulo" armed itself and clashes with nearby nomads from other clan, army intervened leading to many casualties on our side and the siege continued till we gave up and excepted a peace treaty, wish we refused for the years before. That was the cost price of peace.
