3 MARCH 2012 Comment Mogadishu, Somalia — The Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo has stated that is government is ready to hold talks with the self proclaimed Khatumo state, Radio Garowe reports. The Somaliland President gave an interview to BBC Somali, in which he stated that he is ready to help solve current issues in the contested areas of Sool, Sanaag and Ayn. "My government is ready to sit down with the politicians and intellectuals of Khatumo so we can reach a peaceful resolution," said President Silanyo. Silanyo who returned to Hargeysa from the London conference said that the conference ended well and that further talks between Somalia and Somaliland will continue. "The outcomes of the conference included Somaliland and Somalia to continue holding talks but that does not mean that there will be a unification of the two," said Silanyo. Somaliland's military has been occupying areas in Ayn for 3 months despite repeated appeals by both TFG and Puntland for Somaliland to pull out their troops from contested areas. President Silanyo has not acted on the pleas although he says he is ready to hold talks with Khatumo. Although Sool, Sanaag and Ayn have been contested by Puntland and Somaliland for many years, after not recognizing Khatumo President Silanyo did not hold meetings with Puntland about the conflict in the contested but has decided to hold meetings with Khatumo.

Finally I had some time to read the article. I have to say it does it's lenght justice for its the most comprehensive Answer to what has been written by those who claim Somaliland is a One-clan State and their motives. The author goes in to great lenght To give his vieuw and intepretation of history. Eventhough one can disagree with those interpretation. But bare in Mind that history refers to the study and interpretation of past humans, families and societies as preserved primarily through written sources. And thus it is per definition subjective and those written intepretation together Form historic study material, we Somali so direly need. So I hope that those who disagree also take the time and make the effort to Write an article as lenghty as possible in reply. Or face that this articles becomes one One of the most comprehensive study material for future generations. And I hope the author continues writing and maybe even bundles it in to a book. For it would be a waste of our talents if we continue reading history would written through the eyes Of Foreign scholars, rather then from a Somali vieuw and perspective.

President Siilanyo is quite confident about these talks, so I guess there seems to be a deal. Let's hope it's a good deal for both Somaliland and Somalia. So we can start with reconciliation, building a new form of 'Unity' irrelevent of outcome and start with State building in Somalia.

Bro, I am not talking about Somalia but elsewhere. One needs a strong goverment backing. Do you think I would/could invest millions in Europe or somewhere in Africa without bilateral investment agreement between Holland and my country Somalia? or without the political backing of my country? Its all about reducing uncertainty and having a goverment lowers risks and uncertainties and create a investment opportunity in the country and elsewhere(through backing/investing/guarantee, etc). How else would the Turks establish million Euro companies in Europe?

Personally, xageen ka soo jeednaa, I know it, and I think I said it before, Soomaalidu waa qowmiyad xadaarad soo jireen ah laheed oo waligeed soo jirtey sida Hindiya, Shiinaha, Abysinia iyo Masar. Marka taariikhdiina ku faantama oo dhaha qowmiyad gooni waligeed u taagneyd ayaan aheyn kana soo jeedin Carab iyo Afrikaanba, yes, we happen to have our country inside African continent. Even if one of our ancestors was arab, he married a non-arab, his children married non-arabs, his grand-children married non-arabs. If you continue like this, we have a small and irrelevent percentage of arab blood. This is confirmed by DNA studies, were a small percentage is Euroasian blood, we haven even 5% of DNA corresponding with persons from sub-sahara africa(Bantu?). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somali_people

Nonsense. The early arrivers fill the local mafrish, the new arrivals tend to be hard working. I have met some young guys who are here less then 4 years and already enrolled in Uni! And if youn knew thousands left Holland to UK or USA cause they found it hard to get enrolled in Education here.
