What is a qunbulah?

Like every Somali I have a large distant family. They are spread over several countries, see eachother once a year during weddings, funerals. In the mean time they do nothing else then gossip about eachother on the telephone. They gossip mostly about eachother and there is a gossip about everyone of them. For years I have been lucky not to be any target of family gossips. I hardly see them, I never visit them in the UK or Canada and avoid them as much as possible. to keep the peace so to say. That has changed since recently. Lately my distant family has been gossiping that I am a Somaliweynist, friends with ****** and oppose Somaliland. These are vicious lies spread by Xaaji Xunjuf among my 50 year old aunties in the UK. The gossip has spread across countries and even continents. One of my aunties called my uncle in Hargeysa and my uncle called my mother to confirm if her son became a follower of Afweynism. Discussing politics with my family is not easy. Their political support is based on subclan lineage, they support either Wadani, UDHIS, UDUB, Kulmiye, Ucid, Umada depending on their sub-sub clan. And sometimes it tends to change like some went from Ucid to Wadani, others from Udub to Ucid depending on who is heading the party. So explaining them my position and beliefs is neither an option, it would only fuel their wild gossips and irrelevent political debates. . Some of my cousins even called me a treasanous Afweynist who supports those who bombed Hargeysa. So I decided to debunk these lies, by destracting them I called my single mother divorced niece, who is known to be one of the masters gossipers in the UK, plays a leading role in the meetings of tolka and who organizes every Somaliland, Udub or tolka party. I told her that my white Dutch girlfriend might be pregnant and asked her for advice what to do? Two days later my mother called and asked me if I had conceived a baby this year with a Dutch women! This gossips changed from disgust about their treasounus Afweynist cousin to concerns and even sympathy about their mixed race son raised by a Dutch women. I do love families! they are so irrational

Shariif must go. The man visits on weekly basis every other country in Africa, Middle East, Europe. But can't even visit Marka, Baidoa, Jowhar, Baardhere, Kismayo, Beletweyn nor any other relevent Somali city(except Garowe when invited by Faroole). Jowhar, for god sake is his clan city!!! Who the hell can prevent you to visit your clan city??? Your not a leader if you event can handle or control your clan city people. How incompetent can you be if you even can't turn your own clan against Eachother, against Al shabaab and then unite them under your leadership. Even Faroole would make a better leader then Shariif.

OdaySomali, that is indeed an interesting report. it has been drafted by the UK commission for Sustainable Development and they conclude that it is quite impossible to sustain the current economic growth model in a sustainable way. something economist denied for a long time.

Faroole spoke well. And he touches on an essential and crucial issue, which is that a highly centralized form of governance is not suited for Somalia at the moment. Nor is federalism the solution, one has to remember that.

Mr. Somalia: We are the government for now and whatever we decide will be binding on the future Somali government. But are you sure you represent or speak for all the people of Somaliland. We hear opposition and dissatisfaction all over Somaliland about your meeting with us. If you are a democracy, as you say, I am sure you will be worried about that. On the other hand, if you idolize secession, like tribes, it will be open ended. It will not stop anywhere. Secession here and there on continual basis and you have no moral standing to oppose one over the other. So if I were you, I will not open a Pandora box; you never know what will come out of it. You complain that your elder statesmen made a mistake in 1960. That is an insult to the wisdom of those who fought for your independence and unity. Continuity in governance and for civil servants is very important. Reliability of the goverment depends on it. You cant start every few months with a complete team, it would take them a year to get started well. And they wouldnt be aware of policies, agreements made. This is one of the most important causes of the TFG's disfunctioning and why it hasnt delivered last 8 years. So what Abdiwali has done is a great example and should be followed by all Ministers and high officials not to replace their staff. Maybe bring 1 or 2 advisors with them. LST was right on the man. I am beginning to like Abdiwali. hope he joins Hiilqaran after the elections.
