  1. A while back we used the Belbin Team Roles model at work. I wondered if this theory about which kind of teams are succesfull, can be also applied to Somalis as a team?? http://changingminds.org/explanations/preferences/belbin.htm http://www2.ifm.eng.cam.ac.uk/dmg/tools/process/images/belbin727_534.gif BelBin Theory The idea behind the Belbin Team Roles Theory is that a team is not a bunch of people, but a congregation of individuals, each of whom has a role to play in the team. Everyone has behavioural strengths and weaknesses in a team . And to get succesfull and high-performing teams from start to finish, you need each of the behaviours in the team The Team Roles The Belbin Team Roles are used widely in thousands of organisations all over the world today. By identifying our Team Roles, we can ensure that we use our strengths to advantage and that we manage our weaknesses as best we can. Balance of diffrent Roles The key is balance. For example, a team with no Innovator struggles to come up with the initial spark of an idea with which to push forward. However, if you have to many Innovators in a team, you will get many ideas, but they are poorly implemented . Similarly, with no Shaper , the team ambled along without drive and direction, missing deadlines. With too many Shapers, in-fighting began and morale was low. Implementers are needed to plan a practical, workable strategy and carry it out as efficiently as possible. Teamworkers help the team to gel, using their versatility to identify the work required and complete it on behalf of the team. When teams diffrences of opinion, a Monitor Evaluator is needed to provide a logical eye, make impartial judgements where required and to weigh up the team’s options in a dispassionate way. Teams need co-ordinators were needed to focus on the team’s objectives, draw out team members and delegate work appropriately. When the team is at risk of becoming isolated and inwardly-focused, Resource Investigators provided inside knowledge on the opposition and made sure that the team’s idea would carry to the world outside the team. Completer Finishers are most effectively used at the end of a task, to “polish” and scrutinise the work for errors, subjecting it to the highest standards of quality control.
  2. The big difference between all these groups and S/L is that they (the groups) are not seeking to establish their own states; they have a veryshort term objective and Ethiopia is willing to assist them with their aims. Now S/L, has a much longer termed objective and it thus sees Ethiopia, the natural enemy of Somalia, as a friend who it can assist with its objectives (never seeing a strong united Somalis) and thus further their own. But all this is, of course, late night conjecture. Indeed, its late night reflection. But still to me its the same. All these groups have certain objectives and Ethiopia in return uses them to fulfill its own long term objective(Somalias division). Nontheless, we seem to agree Somalis should have one united and strong foreign affairs policy, whatever the internal relations of Somaliland and Somalia is.

I say if the Koonfurians believe in true Somaliweynism let them bring back NFD O'gaden region let them drag ismaciil cumar geele to Mogadishu. When they do that i swear as allah is my witness i will bring every Somalilander to Somalia xita haday diidan i will force them. Omer Guelleh is a dictator, its in his benefit to keep a monopoly on Djibouti. And Koonfurions have other more important issue's on their mind. Shouldn't Somaliland show political maturity and take the lead.

I agree. But they need to start working together, specially on security and foreign affairs. Otherwise Somalia cant get stable with Shabaabi boys running freely from one region to another.

But on the other hand, Puntland, ASWJ, Galmudug, Hiiraan leaders, Barre Hiraale's militia's and the TFG's relation with Ethiopia has never been better then now. So if your argument or fear is not based on the current reality.

We already have our backs to the sea and to be flanked on the right would be unacceptable. Purely strategic. How about if Somalia and Ethiopia form an alliance. Look at the nice words of the new President 2012 and how he admires the hard work of the people of Somaliland. I am sure the people of Somaliland finally found a partner they can deal with and start a healthy dialogue about the future of both of our countries. Abdiqasim Salad said wax Somaliland la dhaho ma jirto. Yusuf Garad and BBC journalist used to say, gobolada waqooyi ee isla magac baxay Somaliland. Times have changed indeed.
  9. Nothing new. Most sane Somali leaders know SL has done good and deserve credit for the relative peace and stability it achieved over the years. Yes, hearing sane leaders from Somalia is new. Your adeero's goverment and his PM Geedi used to threaned SL and tried to paralyze it on several ocassions.
  10. the man is exceptional. He is down to earth, never left the country and knows reality on the ground and therefor the need of the people.
  11. Its a shame I havent Abtigiis when I visited Hargeysa. I hava asked Alpha to introduce me to Abtigiis. He replied "Abtigiis is a man of high caliber, few would reach his level of intellect." With other words isma fahmisiin ninka.

Afterall, he looks a man upset that their man hasn't been supported for his somalinimo ideals. If at all, it supports my claim that should Professor get a big docket in Somalia, Awdal will stop flirting stealthily and will declare its open love for the somalia suitor. War Awdal wa sub clans juist like Duriyada. What is this obsession with pealing down the onion to kuwa hoose while we are supposed to seek the upper layers.
  13. War dariska ayaa lagu horeeyaa. If he wants to avoid Addis and Nairobi. Then let him go to Seychhelles or Yemen.
  14. Warya Ayoub, Hiilqaran is against federalism. Abtigiis'na dhiigi ayaa yara kacay, Kolay midbaa Hargeysa ku dacayadeeyay.

Why is it that all posters attempting to bring up the complex issue of Somaliland/Somalia relations hail from those same marginal corners?? Is it because their only coin can be gained by pitting Hargeisa vs. Mogadishu? Is that the only way to gain relevance again after a losing hand attempting to gain the Presidency in Mogadishu? Makes one wonder... That is the effect of the most poiseness of all clan Virusses, its called the Siyadism/Sayidism virus. I have studied its effects and the diffrence with the other clan virusses is, one has to loose in order one to win. After all one can't be all winners. Just look at the famous 'Kismaayo' syndrome, due to Siyadism a single Clan couldn't make peace and share their only common inhabited city. The situation become so severe in Kismaayo, that a certain Dr.Godane was Called in from Hargeysa to come with an anti-virus, against Saydism. He did, It was called Al Shabaab. The medicine had some side effects, soon they will Stop the treatment. Let's wait and see if the poisensess virus returns in Ksimaayo.

I was expecting it was the other way around. It's like Ngonge said. The President needs his secretary to get things done, without her he doesn't know where to find the files, where to sign, who works for him, who to appoint for a job, etc. The PM has the most important job unless you have a smart Minister of Finance or a FM who dictates his will by using international treaties.
  17. His first public speech should be in Maay Maay. He has worked in Bay and Bakool and other Maay speaking regions, so I assume he picked up some Maay words. And according to the new constitution the Somali language consist of two dialects. He should adress the following issues in the speech, 1. Shariif Sakiin is not from D and M. 2. Stop supporting Al Shabaab. 3. Stop wearing Pakistani clothes. 4. Stop calling Maxatiri people Maryooley. 5. Stop calling my people Moryaan. 6.Stop marrying more then 4 wives. 7. Stop calling every guy a Sheick, even if he marries you a 5th wive, 8. Stop saying that your girl/friend/collegue tried to use magic(sixir) on you 9.Stop talking about your farms and farming, cause we never have seen you farming. 10.Stop this little disputes about few meter farmland. Start farming again!
  18. Visiting Garissa, Jabuuti ama Jigjiga would give the most valueble and most symbolic image ever. I hope he doesn't go on the tuugsi spree like Shariif visiting Carabaha, Turki ama Marekan every month.
  19. Prime-Minister comes from the Latin phrase, 'Primus inter pares'. In means the first among equals or first among peers it's describing the most senior person of a group sharing the same rank or office. I wonder who is more powerfull the Prime Minister who chairs meetings or the man who has the cheque book.
