  1. Africa makes me smile, really... everything about that continent makes my heart beat extra fast. Especially Tanzania & Mali... & the MUSIC.
  2. What have i missed? lol On a lighter note, i hope everyone's ramadan is going well... Salatuul Layl is getting close *excited*
  3. ^^^ Right... :confused::rolleyes:
  4. “This is a moment that mankind can touch lives,” he said. “There is no point for others to have so much to eat while others have nothing to eat. It is not right.” Such a bright little man, masha'allah... may Allah reward him for his efforts.
  5. Wait until Eid my friend... my god, simply BEAUTIFUL. mA LOL @ the canduuf, eww.
  6. Haha, Faarax Jana nili overdose on churchhill walahi, thank you for these new clips. Also this kid Erick Omondi is painfully hilarious as well. 'Jaribu kuslide hapa Kenya' .
  7. 'Afadhali mtu nyonge basi' :D:D:D:D:D
  8. "Ignoring male rape not only neglects men, it also harms women by reinforcing a viewpoint that equates 'female' with 'victim', thus hampering our ability to see women as strong and empowered. In the same way, silence about male victims reinforces unhealthy expectations about men and their supposed invulnerability." Good read.
  9. The similarities between the Arab kid w/the stick saying, ‘uuus’ and a macalin from a dugsi are eerie… just had an intense flashback *shivers*<O:p</O:p
  10. Actually YES, I am thinking about doing so next summer Insha’allah, because it so happens to accommodate my school schedule. Me personally I am heading back to my home town Nairobi, NOT because I want to escape the long hours of Ramadan, but because I want to relive my childhood memories. I can honestly say that since I was eleven years old I haven’t had a proper Ramadan/Eid (whatever that means). Most folks who live in big Somali populated areas like Minnesota/Ohio/San-Diego have nothing to complain about. I know the blessing is in the struggle, but it is comforting to be around your own people for a change. I am tired of being asked, ‘gurrl why you starving yourself/” or my personal favorite, ‘you can’t even chew gum or drink water for 30days?' :confused: STOP THE MADNESS.
  11. Che-- I really appreciate that, and it seems like i am going to go with them... do you have an email address I can contact you once I get things squared away on my end? (the fundraising event will probably happen the second week of August). btw, what do you think about this foundation? http://www.araha.org/ A friend of mine from Minnesota suggested it & I wanted a different take on it.<O:p</O:p
  12. "The foundation’s goal is to build and help maintain shelters, orphanages, clinics and schools with an emphasis on helping people help themselves by enabling them to resettle and reintegrate into the society"-- I like that Che, thank you very much, definitely looking into this.
  13. I plan on having a fundraising event, but my knowledge on what is out there is limited… I have spent countless hours looking around for a LEGITIMATE preferably something directly linked to an organization in Somalia to help with the current situation. Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
  14. This is AMAZING thanks for sharing, i bookmarked this & saved a lot of pictures on my desktop ( yea i know).

  16. Nina fox i was salivating until i saw the abomination posted underneath you lol<O:p</O:p Jacalybaro, if you were going for inducing ‘lalaabo’ you have accomplished it admirably p.s-- am i the only one that can't stand Ethiopian 'canjeera?'<O:p</O:p
  17. ^^LOL my thoughts exactly, anything can become 'blah' if it's done in a redundant manner. & yes it is easy to whip up canjeero, but the thing is i get amnesia when i get in the kitchen…unexplainable phenomenon
  18. Dude i'm from/go to school in a tuulo, canjeero is a rare specialty that brings illin *sniff* no need to be insensitive.
  19. Me: “Becky, have you seen the food my mom left me?<O:p</O:p Becky: (still avoiding eye contact) “Gurrl I don’t know what you’re talking about”<O:p</O:p Me: (side eye) “Oh really, can you at least look at me when you speak” <O:p</O:p *Notices Salid Macsaro on the side of her face*
  20. Woke up to the sun beaming straight on my forehead, and considering the size of it I didn’t need any spontaneous sizzling from the coco-butter lotion so I got up. I was surprised to see that my mother had left without saying goodbye, but from the corner of my eye I saw a plate with a note that read, ‘iga raali noqo, I had to get back to the house, I hope you enjoy this canjeero… Love, hooyo.’ *suspenseful music* The only person that seemed to be rummaging through the apartment without making any eye contact was my roommate Becky…. (and so the plot thickness)
  21. Lets get to the nitty gritty Sir, by the way i love how people are blogging about their traveling experiences, speaking of which MMA needs to update from isili.
