As you know USMLE is 3 steps exam...Step 1, Step 2 CS, Step 2 CK and Step 3. ... Last Time I checked. generally if your are active in healthcare step 2 and step 3 are a breeze and only 6 months of intensive preparation is enough, given the fact that you are familiar with the right place to study from. don't waste time reading fat textbooks (e.g Bailey & love or Davidson) Just the small review books , Kaplan or any other programs will do, Medicine is the same but you have to be familiar with the American guidelines (If studied in a school which doesn't follow it) Step 1 is the troublesome one, For a newly graduate doctor or a medical student overseas 6 months of intensive studying will make sure to get good grades and I know many who scored above 90th percentile by just reading focused review books. (First Aid ,but you need to revise it many times + Kaplan DVDs) ...For someone who graduated many years ago, presumably they have forget many Basic knowledge (Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology etc) and brushing off the dust may take some time, plus assuming one is working it will take up to 9 months to year. If your sole purpose is just passing you will need less time than what I mentioned. but if you are planning to enroll in the residency program and matching process given you are an international Medical school graduate (IMG) its recommended you score above the 90th percentile. for the exam fees and time you can check out their website. Personally I did not take the exam yet, but I am hoping to do so Inshalah. I have many friends who did it and got excellent results. Finding a decent residency is difficult (Opthalmo, ENT, Dermatology, Neuro, Gen.Surgery) but other programs are easy to get (Internal Medicine , Pediatrics etc) if you insist on landing a Minor specialty you will need Excellent grades both in your undergrad & USMLE and tons of Recommendations plus many other things. PS...Many people in this forum and successful people but they just drop in here to have some good cyber time may be out of being lonely or anti-social, We have doctors, Engineers, lawyers etc....Sheiks, Terrorists and political quacks are also abundant.

Abtigiis at least you have done your part by getting married and popping out some progeny..... The other day in a celebration of a birthday I told a Urologist friend of mine -as a joke- I am not ready to settle and he replied "Don't come to me after few years holding your testes in an ice jar pleading for medical help to extract your semen and do artificial insemination! .. Everyone has his own fears, for me "Ragga doobnimada ku raagay" what scares me the most as every other XY species is the Down sloping of the parabola! - back to maths -. "Can a Wingless Eagle fly" I don't want to lose my feathers, I want to fly in the XX zones freely and to roam and discover the mysteries that lie deep in those species "Ma cad baa misa waa carjaw" = "Is it flesh or cartilage" (Still I am at the vertex of the parabola for the girls knowledge) A wise old man Once said "Sadex badso dan baad u yaraysane, 1-cuntada 2-Hurdada 3-ciyaaraha jiirka" ....They are physiological needs which seems to dwindle with time and age, At least still you have time - I hope - before your prostate enlarges and you go through the necessary but traumatizing prostate exam. My point being, stop regretting and start doing Hadii kale I will perceive what you wrote as a desperate measure to relieve what is ailing you "Keyboard-ka cadhada kala dul kac" ... The other gender (The Crooked ribs) are Exotic and Strange, I have my fair share of them, and others share sometimes ... albeit my observations are extremely biased by the aching loins but I have inferred that they are dynamic, Not stable like us , Starting from their monthly floods to their mood disturbances and flight of ideas, They will smile to you for a second and the other second they are frowning, the dynamic state keeps them interesting and challenging to keep around and makes the heat between the two charges alive and lit.... If you are inquiring about how to "Hantidooda gaarka ah loogu dhaco" you will not get the answer by sitting on a computer, experience and a series of failed and some successful trials will teach you enough, Just remember "Dumarku waa ogol-diidan" If u know what i mean.

1- Kulmiye 2- Wadani 3 - (UCID or Umadda) which one wins will be the next political party I support. As Carafaat pointed, They are the only real opposition left.

This thread was on the forum for long but of late I can describe love from my point of view......feeling necessary to make a stranger to family yet hurtful when that stranger decides they don't want to be family anymore.....I like the old somali way, no love, Just considering marriage a contract in which every partner is going to abide by.

OdaySomali;892015 wrote: The fact that Somali women have to still live with fistulas is a gut-wrenching and immensely saddening piece of information. One cannot imagine what a Somali woman suffering from a fistula experience, may Allah ease their suffering and dispair. These are the type of issues we should be debating and working towards resolving... instead many Somalis waste their energy and efforts on petty qabyaalad and divisive political issues. One more reason to put qabyaalad behind us, move on from conflict and focus on resolving our common problems as the Somali people. I've not heard of Dr. Ibrahim Siciid, but im a massive fan of both Edna and Dr. Hawa, who are entirely selfless and they do brilliant and yet much needed work. Obstetric fistula should have been controlled long time ago knowing about only one patient is saddening, its a living misery. Dr. Ibrahim Siciid Started to perform Fistula operations solely before grants from Fistula organizations reached the country. Now Edna adan hospital and Fistula hospital in Borama are dedicated for the extinction of this preventable yet predominant condition.

Providing Healthcare services is a primary need of Humans but in Somali inhabited peninsula Healthcare has become a delicacy only enjoyed by those who have capital and connection to neighboring countries. in the midst of this fog only few healthcare workers are evident and shining in-spite of the difficulties they face. Many are unknown to the world of Media as they are busy saving lives, others like the few Listed are well known and acknowledged for their efforts. Lack of enough finance, Trained personnel and equipment are major drawbacks to healthcare in our region. *Edna Adan *Dr.Ibrahim Siciid (Dr.Qaws) *Dr.Maxamed Jaamac Salaad :- the only neurosurgeon in the Somali peninsula. * Dr.Hawa Abdi
