  1. Somalida waa funny characters horta. When the news broke out the same day people were saying WIIL somali eh aa ku dhintey, midna dhaawac waaye. Another person told me WIILKA dhintey is my cousin. Unless Mona is a 21'st century boy's name, dunno how any of the above is true. Beenta maxee ku falaan horta umadaan. And lying about a deceased noless, subxanallah.
  2. Ok maybe the Djiboutians who cut themselves from the rest of civilization and are piled in East of Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa, but then again they aint Somali as far as Im concerned meeshooda ha iska joogaan. Aliyaah UK is really bad. A woman once stopped me in the street as I was walking towards work. She was headed the same direction so she thought it was convenient to start talking to me. She asked me my tribe, whether my parents were of the same tribe, was I married, if I had any children.......9 minutes of grilling. Half the time I was talking to her 2 kids. Sheekada waxeey kusoo gabagabaysey "Ninkeyga ma taqaana"? Waaah. I told her ma aqaani (abstaining to laugh at her face) Then she follows that crazy question with "Ninkeyga Universal TV uu ka shaqeeya, you must must know him. I told her I dont know her husband nor do I watch Universal TV. Oh and she managed to slip her tribe in the conversation. From that day I vowed not to answer any inquisitive busybody's with a straight answer.............If anyone has the audacity to ask me, I jerk them around so much they walk away sorry they ever started anything. One time I told this guy I was Brazillian, born and raised in Xamar. Before he finished saying "but you look"........I said yes I look Somali coz I grew up there, drank tap water, ate canjeeero, and ended up looking like the rest of the population. He totally bought it. He walked away saying "Haa ninyahow horta Brazillianka mad madoow TVgaan ka arkey qaar baa nooo eg" Yaaab badanaaa
  3. Uk depresses ya, period. Canadians are a more out-going, happier breed. They are friendlier and have a sense of community like sugar-man said. People are isolated in the UK because they dragged the qabiil system and congregate accordingly. Their restaurants and mosques are segregated. Every week there is a meeting of "Qabiil hebel" happening somewhere and its splashed all over the somali websites as if thats newsworthy. Sense of Somaliness is dead. Once you put your foot on Canadian soil, you'll forget your own tribe because their attitude towards life is different. You get the odd tribalists but general public are kind and welcome you with open hearts. Belgium, Italy and Germany are friendly/openminded too. "Yaa tahay" syndrome only exists in the UK. Dont know why? I reckon the problem lies in the overflow of population and because of that people stick to their own kind. Yaab badanaa!!!
  4. Aliyaah lol@ organic. Lately Im obsessed with reading labels looking for Gelatin. I watched a program not long ago and they use that stuff in absolutely everything, from shampoos to make-up subhanallah.
  5. OSLO — Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg on Tuesday attended the Muslim funeral of Somali-Norwegian 18-year-old Mona Abdinur, one of the 69 people killed in the July 22 massacre on the island of Utoeya. Stoltenberg was accompanied by his wife Ingrid, her head covered with a black scarf, when he arrived at the Muslim section of an Oslo cemetery just after 1:00 pm (1100 GMT) to eulogise over the young murder victim's coffin, draped in a Somali flag and a ribbon in the red, white and blue of the Norwegian flag. Abdinur was a member of the youth division of Stoltenberg's Labour Party, which had organised the camp on Utoeya that was attacked on the afternoon of July 22. "Mona was our sunshine, is what her friends and family have said. They now have to continue their road ahead without Mona. In their pain, I want to say, they are not alone," the prime minister said. "There are many of us who are crying with them. (You are) a small family, but you are part of the big Norwegian family," he added in the address that was broadcast live. Due to Muslim traditions which call for burial as quickly as possible -- preferably within the first 24 hours -- all the victims of last month's twin attacks who have so far been laid to rest have been Muslim or originally from Muslim countries. A national ceremony will be held on August 21. It will be attended by the families of all 77 people who died when rightwing extremist Anders Behring Breivik went on his "crusade" against multiculturalism and Islam, first bombing government offices in Oslo before massacring mainly teenagers on Utoeya. Ilaahey ha u naxariisto and may Allah lessen her family's grief (Amiin). Sorry didn't post pictures, as I thought it would be inappropriate and disrespectful to the little girl and her family (May Allah SWT grant her Jannah).
  6. I wouldn't recommend marrying your relatives. God forbid if anything goes wrong, familyaasha isma salamayaan. When my grandmother passed away, my grandpa waxaa la siiyeey gabar ee eedo u tahay to take care of the kids. She ended up having kids of her own and my habaryars and abti are also my second cousins.....Go figure. I find that extemely wierd and irksome.
  7. Somalis have a difficulty accepting their Africaness horta waan la yaabey. We do look different from our counterparts but we still Africans. I befriended a Kosovan girl and for over a year she was under the impression that I was Indian. Afterwards she screamed "YOU ARE AFRICAN?" Yaab badanaa.
  8. Article too long....whats the moral of the story? OJ is Haraam maa soo wadin hadane lool.
  9. Heavy food and this heat not a good combo. Ya can't sleep afterwards, so its advisable to keep it light.
  10. Im actually big fan of MMA....by far my fav SOL-er. Walaalkiis May Allah bestow your union with health, wealth and abundant little munchkins duceysan who fill your life with happiness. Amiin
  11. Following a huge dispute about the saxuur time (3 different timings were read to me, 2:30 am, 3:00 am and 3:30 am). I finally resorted to refering to the Islamic Channel, which confused me even further, it just showed the Fajr time. Had a slice of vegeterian pizza with anchovy topping and a bottle of 500 mls of cold water for Saxuur@ 2:20am. Wasn't feeling hungry today but I could have killed all members of Al Shabaab for a small cup of Nescafe Gold Blend.............Had 4 cups for Afur,,,,,,,,,,,,Aaaah the little things of life that make me smile:)
  12. Is it necessary to include the white star (which actually represents Somali Unity) in all the breakaway flags horta? Apart from that irony the green and blue look good together.
  13. Can't upload bigjaris? why why why? Last pic-----is that Xamar? The last building that escaped bombarding lol
  14. I admire their tenacity but the semi-jilbaab/khakhi trousers combo not a flattering look.
  15. Dunno where, but I'll tell you where NOT ------------------ON A PLANE
  16. This Puntland Vs Somaliland online drama is pitiful runtii. The funny thing is the "real" Puntland and Somalilanders don't hold this much animosity and venom agaist each other back home. They happily co-exist within each other and inter-marry. What saddens me the most is that that you guys come across as educated and smart, Maasha Allah. You are the future leaders of our nation and unfortunately your sparkling personalities are overshadowed by these cheap digs y'all throw at each other. But hey, what do I know, Im just the new girl, observing walaalaheey oo wax aa fa'ido laheyn isku heysta. My 2 pesos
  17. HAHAHAHHAH YAAB BADANAA Somali waaba ka baxey aniga saacadan laga bilaabo, Im setting up shop in Bulgaria.
  18. Silaanyo and Faroole are aggressive characters. Everyday is a new conflict, its unfortunate people still support them. Yaab badanaa

No sense of humour, dry as a twig.....yaaab badanaaLife is fun-----------------keep it light and simple. It better be sunny in St Ives tomorrow----or it aint gonna be light and sure aint gonna be simple--- Have a great day peeps,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ya hear!
  21. Another blame, another day. Somalis must be these golden creatures (one of a kind rare species) that everyone is conspiring against. The only conspiracy that is working against us is our backward mentality. We are quick to blame Uganda, Arabs, Al-Shabab, Bush, Museveni, Ethiopia, Burundi, CNN, Castro's dead grandmother,,,,the list is endless. *When are we going to accept our weaknesses and be accountable for our frivolous actions against ourselves? *When are we going to stand for reality and abolish these miserable excuses? *When are we going to acknowledge our own mistakes and work towards a better solution? As you were.........................................................

My sentiments exactly. With all these organisations flying around, we must research the most trustworthy ones. Having said that, I've given up, I don't care if the organisation I chose funds classrooms in Venezuela, its all in the niyah that counts and end of the day Allah SWT sees through our good intentions. Sadaqo is sadaqo, period! Ok lets just say for the sake of argument----everyone has paid their due. THEN WHAT???? Are we going to wait around another 5-10 yrs, relying on CNN to inform us how badly our people are hit by famine/droughts etc? WHAT NEXT? Any long-term plan? PS: Please understand where cynical lady is coming from. Its frustrating to feel helpless. Some show more passion than others and some mask it. Whateva floats your boat, I guess. Jazakallah sis, May Allah give you multiple ajars for your efforts. Amin
  23. Her accent is distracting me from whatever it is she is trying to say. You'd think 30+ yrs in the US would soften that tongue of hers. What accent is that anyways? Frencherican? Mami lookin good thou, timeless beauty Maasha Allah.
  24. Poor Mr Parmesan. He was never given a chance, its only fair he barks outside. We should blame nobody but ourselves for the failing state of our has-been nation. We [the diaspora] ignore the plight of the poor while driving our "leased" Lamborghinis, sipping on our useless Frappucinos in our airconditioned condos. I wish I had a magic wand to deport everyone living in Qurbo-land back home. Ghandi once said "Be the change you want to be". We can blame the former Presidents, the NGO's, our Tribes, the Parliament till the cows get home. Nothing is going to change unless we change it ourselves. Simple as.....
