That "Hindi school" was my school, shame nobody acknowledges it. Its as if the students just fell off the face of the earth. Come out, come out wherever you are..... PS: Great pixxx of Somalia btw everyone. Thanx for takin us all back to the happy times..
  3. I was at work and all I heard were people "uuhing and aahing" huddled up on my colleagues PC. The news online was kinda slow and there wasn't a TV nearby so when the second plane hit we all rushed to the nearest pub and watched it there. We were there till 9pm and did not notice the time subxanallah. I still got the image of people jumping from the Twin Towers enraved on my mind. Conspiracy theory or not----I believe without a shadow of a doubt Bush was behind this. He just wanted an excuse to attack Iraq and this was a great excuse....
  4. If only the majority of our people were determined and followed on higher education, we would've been on top of every game. I guess this daredevil attitude we adopted comes from our culture. "Wax walbo waan daadineey" is a great PMA to have.
  5. Good topic sxboow. I asked myself this question when my father's cousin used to visit us from the Maldives in the 90's. He was a teacher in some school,,,,Yaab ani. Maldives neh yaa walaan oo ka shaqeynaayo,,,,killin my vacation tendencies iga tag. We even penetrated the Rap industry long time ago too----ka cabsooo. Apparently Lloyd Banks is Somali (then again unless I see him wearing macawis and has cadey hanging from the clasps of his teeth, I dont believe it). Famous Somalis:- 1. Mark Hendrick - Somali/British MP 2. Marian Joan Elliot-Siad - Somali/British singer/songwriter sadly lost her battle to cancer earlier this year maskiinta. Allah u naxaristo if she was a Moslem.....R.I.P 3. Katja Shchekina - Russian/Somali model 4. Zahra Bani - Somali Javelin thrower 5. Ayan Hersi - Famous for all the wrong reasons (couldn't resist) lolz We are the African version of the Israelis.........scattered like peebles everywhere. I dont know if this is a positive or negative thing thou
  6. Alpha congratulations if you did,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and congratulations if you didn't.................You dodged the bullet
  7. And then finally ayaga ayaa la MAMNUUCEEY heheheheh Allah SWT is GreaT!!!!!! Good Riddence to the looneeys who let fake power get to their heads:)
  8. My interests and what I consider valuable change with the tide of time Ilaahey amarkiis.....I dont know how to answer this question. Items gifted to me maan qora mise items I acquired from begging and borrowing from my parents. Anywho the thing that springs to mind that filled me with immense pride and joy are my Gucci reading specs that I bought with my own money when I was 16. The sad thing is I still have them. Other 2 items I will treasure for life:- The car my mom bought me on my 20'th birthday. It was a D reg Nissan Micra (Black and Silver), my family and friends refused to hitch a ride coz of its kala-nooc personality. Different color car waaba laga faani jireybo yaaab. And also the Laptop Im using right now which I begged/borrowed/stolen/given by my dad. Its an old qanax Lenovo 300 N200. I will never replace it no-matter what (or untill it goes kaput) coz it holds sentimental value for me.
  9. The newspaper forgot my tribe "Reer Coffee isku daldale".....Not fair nooh. Im going to boycott all Malaysian products from now on (donno what they are yet) but they are on my list.... They gonna swim with the fishes,,,,,,,,,,,,
  10. Cute kids Maasha Allah. The first thing you guys noticed were the guns, but my eyes narrowed in on the uniform-looking outfits they are wearing. Ala necbiyaa parents who dress their kids alike. I guess boys will be boys. Toy guns inside Somalia should be banned but the kids living elsewhere can play with them lolz. They haven't seen any action masakiinta. No harm in allowing them to live vicariously through their innocent little fantasies.

Thanx sweety. Im new at this game. Im still getting used to the whole being a mother gig. Lawd have mercy. Anywayzzz,,,,,the rest of my week unfolded as follows:- On Thursday I accompanied my sister and her friends for a shopping spreee to Luton. Friday was grown-up time for me. I ditched the little girls and their suuro to hang out with my old friends whom I haven't seen in the last 4 yrsss. Five of us did not have a plan but we decided to go with the flow and have fun no matter what. 2 of the girls decided they wanted to go to "Abdi Diini Concert", the other 2 argued they wanted to go to "Abdulqaadir Jubba Concert"....I was asked to cast the vote. I was totally against the whole concert idea coz I did not want to hang out with 200 sweaty Somali teenagers who may or may not slash your tyres and throw bottles at you at the end of the concert. Before I announced my disgust with the plan, I was saved by the bell. We got a phone call saying both the concerts were cancelled---THANK GOD. They finally settled for a quiet dinner followed by a movie. Perfect end to a busy week....
  12. Alderman;743820 wrote: The questions we must be asking are: 'Why did Somalia not develop world class infrastructure after the Italians left?' 'Why do the majority of women dress like ninjas?' 'Why are they still fighting, where are there brain cells?' Good Q's. 1. Not being familiar with the history and architecture of Pre-war Somalia myself, I was curious to read about it online. Apparently we had Castles, Fortresses, Stone Cities, tombs etc. This link might be useful http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somalian_architecture(although Im sure there are more reliable sources available somewhere). All I remember from my short stay in Mogadishu as a child was that the Villa's were very white and some gates were very loud. A lot of pink and green if I recall.....not pretty if you ask me. I would lock the decorators in Abu Ghraib for life. 2. This Ninja business started after the war. Before that, its said that very little people called the Ikhwaan Muslimiin used to wear the Jalbaab. Al Shabaab had a major influence on the people regarding this matter. This is the only thing I agree with them on when it came to their Taliban-style regime. This form of dress-code is mentioned in the Qur'an and every Moslem woman is adviced to follow suit. Alhamdullilaah most women (even in the diaspora) have adopted this libaas. 3. As far as the fighting goes, Somalia suffers from a disease called TribaLgitis. 99% of the Somali people are diagnosed with this. The main symptom is believing in "My tribe is better than yours" notion. This disease has no cure unfortunately. The funny thing is everyone frowns upon this custom of being a Qabiiliste and pretends to be all for a "ONE SOMALIA". These people are either in denial, living inside a bubble or are lying to themselves coz subconsciously everyone is a hardcore Qabiiliste, some project it more than others. I haven't done justice in any of my descriptions but thats how I see it
  13. My Eid was extremely wierd to say the least. After planning it way ahead to spend the day with my family I found out (the nite before) that everyone is doing their own darn thing. Bal maxaa iga bi'i lahaa if they haven't RSVP'ed to get together. Waxaa ka xumahay the effort I put in making those calls to gather everyone up for lunch. Afrikaninta balan maleh ish. How did everyone ditch me and their pathetic excuses:- *Some Xalimos forcefuly invited my mother for lunch somewhere. (She was too nice to turn them down) *My sister-in-law said her Abti and his wife flew down from Sweden, (so my brother and his kids were held hostage. Whatever!!!), *My lil sister made a date with her friends to go watch a movie (Yeah like thats more important than family, iskiifo dheh) *My other sister had a date with her husband (who da heck does that on Eid?) *My dad was occupied with last minute work commitment in Berlin, (Major disappointment, but his excuse was the most genuine coz he sent me his flight details). He is off the hook. Seriously frustrated I decided to ignore everybody's drama and have a quiet nite in with my son, atleast junior did not abandon me, bless his little bibs. My Eid basically consisted of Pizza, popcorn, Icecream, chocolate and a collection of Gangsta flicks for me/ tom and jerry marathon for my little Eid date. Donny Brasco, The Godfather, Scarface and Reservoir Dogs were a consoling substitute for being stood up by my so-called family. Spending the nite with the baby and Al Pacino made it all worth it. We stayed up all nite and slept in the next day. Thursday and Friday is a different story,,,,,what I did and how my family attempted to make up for it----HMMMMM. I forgave them in the end (or so they think)
  14. I heard AMISOM shot @ the deceased too. Ilaahey janatul fardowso haka waraabiyo (Amiin). Everytime there is a hope and we take 1 step forward, this sort of behaviour sets us 100 steps back. Ilaahey wadankeena hanoo hagaajiyo wax kale aa dhahi karno aaba iska yar.
  15. Part of me detests these "Sharaf-doon" ppl flocking into Somalia, publicity iyo media attention raadiska eh. Dhibatada Somalia hada lee mee global knowledge noqotey? Pathetic  And the other part of me thinks hadeey xataa 1 person caawiyaan I should be appreciative and be humble....urghhh....
  16. I remember doing a project report on Ikea in highschool, waagaan ilkaha sare lahaaa, ages ago. I couldn't pronounce Ingvar Kamprad's name let alone their products. Everytime I accompany my dad or sister (who are addicted to the place) I end up sitting in the Caffeteria. Im not a big fan of their products but they do a killer coffee,,,,not a wasted trip me finkz. Waxaan oo lacag eh $43 Million from IKEA, the Millions of hidden donations paid everyday, and the $500 Million the Turkish PM promised to fundraise for Somalia xagee lagu shubooyaa is my main concern? We are getting help from all angles welina waa ka qalalalan nahay, thats just sad, absolutely sad walaahi cadiim.
  17. Albinos are killed and their body parts are used for black magic purposes in Africa (can't remember the country) subxanallah,,,,Ignorant iga dheh. Back to the topic: Niman waaweyn iyo howlahaas saacadaanaa omg. Circumcised or otherwise I dont think it wud make a difference. The only way to prevent that disease is abstinence and I doubt Afrikanintaan inee waxaas iska dhafi doonaan. Allahuma Najeynaa. What made me laugh is that they're making the Ministers do it. I wonder what prompted this? Was it their promisciuous behaviour or are they trying to set an example for the nation? Yaab badanaa....African sempre African............waxii dark continent naloo dhahey aa qabnaa,,,Aqli ma jiro.
  18. Israel's attitude towards Foreign policy is often pacified by the US. If the day comes they lose their biggest ally, they will be vulnerable and succeptibe to backlash from the International community. Their "chi" will be disabled permanently, and kudos to Turkey for not bending over backwards and overseeing this. Mark my words thou, this will not be a long feud. Israel knows how to charm and keep the only Moslem state they have on their side.
  19. I was anticipating a very low-key Eid this year, because of the situation in Somalia. But I find the more I resist jumping in the streets, flying off the balcony (as I do), the more people are aggressively bringing me their joy and happiness at the rate of sanka la iska galinooyaa yaab. Didn't want to go get Henna, my older sister announced that she has asked the woman to come to our home. Didn't wanna get my hair done, my lil sister makes an appointment @ the Salon. Was so against getting a a new outfit, but mother dearest gifts me with a scrumptiolicious Dirac which has the most ardent dirac hater like me gushing. Did not make plans to go out (had a date with myself, a pint of Haagen Daz and 16 movies I downloaded habeen dhoweetoole) but my friend said she is kidnapping me for the evening for some surprise..... War heedhe ma anigaa waalan mise Uzbekistan aa laga gabyooyaaa. They are all claiming that all this is apparently very much at no cost to me. So I decided to suck it up and "pretend" to enjoy myself as this is my first Eid with my family in the last 4 yrs. I refuse to be a wet blanket. Everyone in my family is either high on something or are genuinely in a good mood. Im sure horta Juxa has Xalwo in her possession and Lily has a 3 tier Forest Gatteau stashed somewhere..... (Wax ii reeba bal aan idin duceeyeee). So what is everyone upto? Whatever you are doing, make sure you have fun. Eid Mubarak to y'all and your families
  20. New Delhi: India has found material evidence proving Pakistani link to Somali sea pirates. According to a report in an Indian newspaper, Somali sea pirates are receiving training in Pakistan to launch a proxy war against India. On August 14, the Indian Navy foiled a piracy attack after it rescued Iranian-flagged merchant vessel MV Nafis-1 off Mumbai. According to nine crew members, all foreigners, detained from the vessel, confirmed Indian security agencies’ assertion of ties between Pakistan and Somali Pirates. http://zeenews.india.com/news/nation/after-terrorists-pak-training-somali-pirates_728930.html Indians are so paranoid they're making me gag. They have polls regarding this and all. 80% Indians believe it lool Yaab badanaa aduunkaaan. What do you guys think
  21. Waxaan la yaabi jirey parents who pluck their kids from the west fearing ineey ka halaabayaan, as if to imply Qamri, Qaad, Drugs and everything that goes in between is not found in Arab/African countries. Qofki u bareera xumaan ilahow maa Guanghzho la geeyo ama Ghana loogasoo tago, it wont make a difference. Ilahey hasoo hadeeeyo unbaa la dhahaa, and one day Insha Allah they will guide themselves and seek refuge and commit themselves to their Creator.
  22. Dabrow If you can't comprehend my post, I dont see a point to explain myself. It'd be like driving through a fog. These people were massacred because of their charming personality....lets go with that.
  23. ^^ Thank You for bringing my Eid forward, the best gift ever. These pix remind me of Karachi's Empress Market, full of life & despite enduring the difficult hurdles faith throws @ them --------life simply goes on, regardless.
  24. I can imagine the police officers in this precinct on their lunch break lool. Loving the idea. This afternoon swimming thing could catch on to be our very own spanish siesta "War xageed qabaneysaa?" "Ninyahow waxaan is lahaaa xeebta inaan kusoo yara dabaasho saacada qadada ka gaadhsiiyo" (A poor attempt at the Lander accent)
  25. I hate war but one thing is a given, by the time Im 50 (IA) I'll be fluent in Arab/Afghani/African little towns that I had no interest in. Luuq luuq ee noo kala barooyaan, I feel like we're the speaking version of Google Earth. Yaaab anagaa aragni
