I thought this was a positive thread about a person's achievements and aspirations, whats her religion got to do with the price of bataati? I can't stand people who disrespect others in the name of "diin" and critisize, highlighting the negative instead of concentrating on the positive of a person. Besides I find it very distasteful when someone living in the West has double standards and preaches hatred against their host nation. If you got the gift of the uneccessary gab, I suggest you evacuate, go back to your country and feel free to critisize. Its called hypocricy if you are happily cashing welfare cheques from "Kufaars", living in their houses, going to their schools and spreading this kind of nonsense. Speaking of diin, it clearly states in Islam that one must respect the laws of the land one is living in and their hosts regardless of their religion. If you nay-sayers have that much stale energy reserves, I suggest you spend it on cleaning the society. We have enough alcoholics and jaad-holics who clearly need your attention. Pathetic!:rolleyes: Back to the topic------The sister has achieved greatness Maasha Allah. May she get everything she wished for in her profession as well as personal life. (Amiin)

One plus side for me about FB is I can keep in touch with family and know what they are doing in real-time, coz Im not a good telephonist. On the down side I dislike people I dont know adding me or sending me messages,,,,,,,iish. I had to close my first account coz it was flooded with anonymous faraxs and xalimos.

Some of my earlier memories of Xamar was not a happy one. We moved to Somalia in 1986 and the first thing my parents did was take us to Wardhiigleey (where they both resided). *As a child, I was amazed and appalled at the sheer cheek of the people popping in and out of each others homes always borrowing something (sometimes without asking). *The doors were always open, even at night which was scary iyo nus. * We went to grandma's house one morning and were introduced to her animals and by afternoon we were told we were eating one of the goats my brother and I were petting. Nightmare iga dheh. *Whenever we visited family, were often overfed and over critisized for being too "westernised" *Dont even get me started on the toilets loooooooool OMG *Mom insisted on us going to dugsi and after a week were taken out coz we were contaminated with injir looooooool On a happier note, I enjoyed the beach, the hospitality (had to get used to it in the end). *I loved how Aabo and his friends would sit under the tree and sip coffee whilst listening to BBC or somethin. *I miss the Subac Soon sessions during Ramadan. *In 1988 we moved to Huriwaa from Kaaraan. I loved that neighbourhood coz everyone stayed in their houses and kept to themselves (finally something I was used to). *We were allowed to keep pets. A deer, 3 dogs, pigeons, chicken, a monkey, a turtle, and an injured goat my habaryar gave my mom to recouperate in our house. *I miss my school, my friends and the nastiness we got upto at school parties pranking innocent people. Aaaaaaaah those were the days. If I was granted one wish in life, t'would be to go back in time and re-enjoy those days walaahi.

Bidaar is inevitable to all Maryooleey men, so brace it and ******q it with olive oil. It would've happened sooner or later. It has nothing to do with age. Make it sparkle aan ku dhahay lol

As a Moslem, if you call a fellow Moslem a kufaar, then you exit the diin automatically. You have to say the Shahada. So unless he clearly claimed to be a Kufaar (which he didn't) we have no right to judge someone on their lifestyle or their choice of partner. I haven't seen the video yet, but judging by the text, he probably was being sarcastic and was belittling the person asking him such an absurd question. I reckon the only reason people question his diin is because he is married to a christian woman. Last I checked, Moslem men were permitted to marry women of the 4 Kitabs. So whats the big hooplah about?

I enjoy Omaar's documentries. They are concise and very informative. I missed this prog but intend to catch it soon Insha Allah.

Its absurd how so many Xamarawians don't know that this school actually existed. They ask me and I see a puzzled expression. This was my school and Im proud of it. I miss my teachers and classmates. If any of you "admit" to going here between 1986-90 or know somebody who went there, please stand up and represent. PS: Incase you are wondering where it was located, dont be shy, I'll tell you lol. It was first right next to the Chinese Embassy, and then the school moved behind Yaasin Cismaan school (next to the hospital). My best friends were Liibaan, Samira, Ali, Hibo, Fatima, Suleyman, Farhiya, Hafsa, Mansoor, Amal, Hibaaq (she found me on facebook, bless her little heart), Amira + Samira (sisters). Im not gonna mention surnames (just incase you are on the police most wanted list or sum'in) lol

Is it true that Ahmed Gurey wasn't Somali? I hear he was an Arab who settled in Somalia and stayed there.

Alpha Blondy;730934 wrote: strikes me as a self-hating opportunist type riding on the whole ''somalia is war-torn'' malakay. . LMAO True. What I can't digest is the fact that AL-SHABAAB actually have credibility or lack there of, worth writing about. Horta have y'all noticed how the world is cashing in on our misfortune, particularly US movies and Crime TV Series like NCIS, The Killing, Law and Order etc. It seems as if they cannot pull any ratings without mentioning Somalia.

I liked her writing technique and approach to the story telling. It had a bit of a spicy "Somalis wud frown upon" element to it but overall, me likey.

Murray thinks he can beat Nadal. Is he having a laugh? I admit he has done so back in 2008 in the US open but Nadal is currently in top form. Today Im planning to overdose on popcorn and catch the game, Maria Sharipova Vs Sabine Lisicki. Cant wait Insha Allah. Showqi;731243 wrote: She is still active, and plays with Andre Agassi.... My personal favourite is "Ninkii soo joog laga waayo, soo jiif aa laga helaa". Its equivalent to"I told you so" I suppose.

Inspiring and amazing post btw. We can achieve greatness if only we could denounce our clans and work towards the betterment of our country.

Regardless of how much capital or backing a nation has, it will never peak to success without its dedicated citizens, and Israel has just that. Its unfair to compare Somalis and Israelis. As the former, we are corrupt, selfish and dont care a damn about the beautiful country that we do have, and the latter pour blood, sweat, money and tears to hold on to what they "believe" is theirs. Israel strives to join the list of the 10 most richest economies in the world and Somalia is number 1 for the best place to go if you are suicidal or insane.

I feel a sense of pride whenever I see a fellow Somali making their mark and achieving their goals. Those living in the diaspora, who have access to education and other resources should follow suit.

Im all for Love, Honour and Respect in a marriage. But the way "some" men view marriage is as if they are buying cattle and one must wait on them, hand and foot. Whatever happened to the wife being your pride, a marriage being a happy union that encompasses love and all. A union that symbolises give and take. Despicable! Showqi lool@ laba shillin.

I got something against shopping for clothes/shoes online. If I can't feel the fabric, its a no-no for me. As for these dirac designs on the website, maybe would suit my Ayeeyo. Mom wouldn't even caught dead in these, too outdated I suppose. I must, however, commend them for their idea for an online dirac shop to those who are into it. Niceee
