Why are so many native Somali companies, especially hotels and restaurants named in foreign names? Are the people living in the capital that small minded that they can't come up with a native Somali name for the companies? Like Al-Fajri School, Al-Huda Hotel, Al-this and Al-that. Since when was "Al-" part of the Somali language? For those who will say that Arabic is Somalia's second language, well it is the second language only because we are part of the Arab League and they teach Arabic in school. Arabic needs to stay in the Qu'ran, mosques, dugsis or other religious elements in Somali community and not wander of into company, street or city names or anything else. We already lost a big part of our language and we rarely use native names anymore. People need to be educated that we are not Arabs and Arabic is not our language, culture and is only part of our religion.

I dont claim the nationality of where I reside or the ethnicity or the language, history and land of those people which the Jareer people do to us. Even if I was deported to Somalia I wouldn't live at IDP's camp, I was in Mogadishu this summer and most that live poor is the Jareer, they dont even do anything all day, there was a neighborhood I stayed in for a week where there were lots of Jareers, the only thing they did was sit at home and cook food all day (no they didn't sell it, their kids didn't go to school or dugsi like the other ethnic Somali children)... The answer is: Oromo is not an ethnicity like Somali and Afar even though they are our closest relatives together with Afar they are more like the Arabs. Oromos began expanding south, east and north and west from somewhere in central Oromiya and their strategy was to kill the men and rape the women and teach the children of the rape victims Oromo and their culture to expand faster. They have done this to Somalis, Amharas, Bantus and other people that is why they are divided into Borana and Barentoo. There are alot of Somalis who have been Oromized on the border, mostly in Babille, around Harar etc. They are still Somalis but with lost identity, like the Americans who can't figure out where they really are from. Only way to reverse this is by educating these people and Somalis themselves about this. They are our brothers and muslim brothers aswell, and inshallah they will gain their freedom aswell as the Afar.

Yes, they are one of our biggest problems, just like the Jareers they are invading our territory. But this problem is easier and can be solved easily as the area is poorly populated and can easily be repopulated and also there are a lot of so called "Oromos" that are actually Somalis with lost identity. Oromo is only a language, not an ethnicity anymore like the Somali. Very similar to Arabic and the so called "Arabs". The Oromos have also invaded Afar areas. The Oromos and Afars are our brothers because of being part of the same linguistic family and race and also because of the very similar culture and Islam. They should focus on invading Amhara territory instead of their brothers, Addis Ababa especially if they ever want it back and ever want to get independence. If they were more organized like the ONLF they could easily turn Ethiopia around by invading Addis Ababa that is surrounded by their territory...

Nice! It still needs alot of development but seems like its going through. All the Northwest Somalis need to stop bashing Puntland because they are doing great work aswell and they might be behind but they werent created before 1998. Northwest Somalia state has existed since 1991, thats 7 years ahead to develop.

^ Agreed, this is part of our heritage, national and culture identity. Does it matter which other alphabet it looks like? No. Is it ugly? Maybe to the people who are westernized and see Latin as beautiful, some people think Chinese looks ugly but the Chinese thinks it looks good. ^Why should they rule people who dont want to be ruled by them, better secede with only their own ethnic group. Europe model for East Africa is needed, ethnic group = one country. Is Mogadishu safe enough to go to for a Arab looking guy? My cousin wants to go to Somalia with my family summer 2012 but we dont know if its safe enough for him to travel there yet. It is easier for full Somalis to blend in while a Arab looking guy would easily be pointed out and might get kidnapped probably? Can he go?
