SomaliPhilosopher;981343 wrote: So full A levels are two years? And is it the same to apply for American universities? Thanks the Conservatives, under it's radical education minister Michael Gove, are planning to introduce ''American style'' education system to the UK. i've hear A Levels will be scrapped and secondary school will last until 18 years of age. i'm not sure of this policy, you know. A Levels are useful for transitioning folks from being children to young adults (i felt the difference). very soon the UK will adopt other symbols of the American education system like proms, class valedictorian and pop quizzes and an examination system that continually churns out ignorant and linear-thinking zealots. cool:

SomaliPhilosopher;981327 wrote: Hey Alpha or Haatu, do you need two years of A-levels to begin uni? or is one years, the As levels sufficient? this is what i said to Haatu almost 6 months ago re A Levels, abti......... Alpha Blondy;917131 wrote: LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL@Haatu-oow, saxib, your life is not short of fun, ma istidhi? there i was thinking you're just a regular 18 year old but you're NOT! are you? you're a fashion-conscious consumerist teenager. the type who epitomises the London riots of 2011, the feral type without community values, the type obsessed with materialist objects whose empty pockets fail to kick-start the economic revival predicated by analyst in these austerity and debt-ridden times. your long essay LOL and its description really reeks of teenage tantrums and a life severely starved of disposable cash to spend on new shoes. but, nonetheless, due to environmental factors are able to squeeze the last remaining drops of value from every single pound so as to best maximise a basic social life, if that. just as you are now in 2013, i was doing my A2's in 2003 and life in those days offered some semblance of hope. it was very different from the hard prospects that face your generation now. in those early days of new labour, Alpha's life was very different from yours. i wasn't fashion obsessed nor had much of a social life, to be quite frank. i was serious student, engrossed by my A Levels (Geography, Politics, Economics and GS) at the reputed Woodhouse College, no doubt. i was very luckily to be accepted at this prestigious college and i didn't disappoint in achieving the grades i'd set out for. LOOOOL.....NOT! it'll be approaching 10 years, by the time you complete your A2's, to the day i had completed sixth form college. in those A2 days, Al looked forward to uni and knew very much of the what lied ahead. a new life beckoned at University and i didnt waste time in throwing myself at its deep end LOOOL. this was where i grew, as i'm sure you'll come to grow too. in uni, everything changed, the old glad-rags and the bookworm rims were out of the window. instead came in the newer refined Al, who, as though, he'd gone through Matthew Kelly's Star's In Their Eyes changing room, metamorphed into an A-list celebrity. amazing times and i've got the pictures to prove it too.... :p LOOOOOOOOOOOL

LOOOOL by saying blue for dhaqan.....it's quite obvious you're trying to politicise this mashruuc, particularly in equating Somalia and its blue flag with Somali culture. naga daa wax yaahas iyo waxyaabo kalo la mid ah, dee. :D p.s - thanks for the moral support. you know it's appreciated. nuff respect.

After this I'm sure some of us SOLers, can help to donate books in much needed topics. War hadal haan mabuuxshee SOLers inanka yaan lagu eegin shaqada abti, thanks for the hambalyos. it means a great deal to me, really. i've had all sorts of people insult me for my benevolent endeavours, ma garatay? one guy said.....''maxaad library sameyn, dadkan dhufaanka gacmohooda ku yaal ayaa books uskageyn eh''... one SOLer contacted me via the social media with words of encouragement. this is appreciated but they're very unlikely to send me dosh ee maxa iga shan iyo toban ah hadalkiisa.

^^^ today's donated books. thanks y'all. that's 113 books in Af Soomaali or written by Somalis or about Somalis. there's 12 about SL ^^^ the entire collection so far. about 915 + 3 = 918. still not happy with this achievement. this mashruuc is proving to be impossible. i have the necessary books, i have a stockpile of furniture and all sorts of stationary including a printer, now. i could just start but i'm just not so sure, you know. maxa tala ah? in the last weeks i have secured, or at the very least being considered as a accredited provider of sorts. we'll see. inshallah kheyr nooh. i have found a large spacious premises (all for free) but the tenant is refusing to move out. annoyed by this. i could have done the necessary repairs, painting and what have yous, you know. but patience is a virtue, somaha? i'm going back to my home town for the Christmas holidays (pending approval of leave). my family and friends have started collecting books and stuff. i recently spoke to SOMCARGO over the phone and they need the exact weight of the goods to give a quote. WTF? ya u sheega i don't have a clue. not friendly people ee sida uula soco. ......i might visit ikea too. ya oog?

Cadale;981270 wrote: I really dont know. :D saas miyaa? you ought to establish one marka dee.....everyone else is...;) here in SL there's the Ministry of Commerce and the SL Chamber of Commerce. the latter is a talking shop but the Ministry of Commerce could be doing a better job in attracting investment. ^^^^^ the SLCOC produces this sort of thing. it's not bad but has plenty of grammatical mistakes. the void left behind by strong governments has allowed all sorts of mashruucising folks to actively get involved in matters that don't concern them. this void has been filled by several private organisations, many of which are managed by Diaspora folks (instructed by white folks) with a get-rich-quick sort of attitude. we're also not fully aware of their agenda but it's often alleged they're really a front for multinational corporations intent on accessing our resources. multinational corporations who are ready to make investments should deal directly with the Somali governments than NGOs pretending to be investment companies. when the first round of the dawarsi began recently a company called Hanvard (http://www.hanvard.com/) organised proceedings. this should have been organised by the chamber of commerce. there's also several other companies.... shuraako - http://shuraako.org/ Somali Star investments http://somalistarinvestments.com/ we should be wary of their involvement.
-
is there a board/chamber of commerce horta? these quasi-governmental organisations are very useful in encouraging investment.
