  1. this can only be understood in the context of Indian customs, norms and values. as outsider we shouldn't speculate and make judgement.
  2. if its going to keep the peace then i'll be forced to pay. such is the level of decentralisation in somaliland that even bloody money has become part of the state machinery. this is to be applauded. if i dont pay then the peace of my country is at risk. i must all i can to maintain peace and order. mashallah.
  3. i'm sorry but i dont see why i should pay all $180 by myself..... my two brothers in the UK are exempt miyaa??. its like 'these' people share everything, 'our house', 'our cars', 'our women' etc..... its pathetic. ultimately, i'm only responsible for myself and no-one else. so.... is there any point in paying this money?, since i'm less likely to engage in violence. this blood money insurance policy should be reformed, i think.

  6. moral consciousness is always important. as africans, we have set obligations to treat each other with respect and dignity, these are often not uttered aloud but enshrined in everyone's treatment of others. the western world, on the other hand puts too much emphasis on creating a repentant society, maybe because of confessionalism of the church, but these days its appears as though words like 'sorry' have for all intent and purposes lost their 'true meaning'. add to this, the array of hollywood films and television programmes, whose constant preaching of the art of sentimentality, have some people convinced that everyone deserves a second chances. i believe someone should only apologies when they truly mean it!
  7. so.... my uncle from my dad side of the family is an official caaqil. i know this because he showed me his card which was issued by the ministry of the interior. now he wants me to pay 1,000,000SLSH for the misdemeanours of 'other' members of the family. its like 'this' family are all petty criminals and engage in daily killings that make the rwandan genocide look insignificant. i dont want to be part of this insurance policy. its not like i'm the one doing the killing and destroying other peoples properties. this is pathetic!
  8. why should i pay 'blood money'. i dont want to be part of this insurance policy. its not like i'm the one doing the killing and destroying other peoples properties. i'm been hustled to pay 1,000,000SLSH. this is pathetic.
  9. today is another day in this deja vu world.
  10. ^ have you no shame. let it go. why must you engage in this personal attack against mr.yasin. do you think it makes you look smart for exposing his alleged involvement in islamic racketeering groups. we're all corrupt, well some more than others, but thats not the point.
  11. serious allegations by the rubble-rousers and the self-hating moderate muslims.
  12. just for reference; i hope dirta wooqoyi isn't an offensive/pejorative term. i consulted my colleague and she said ''its called 'that' because somaliland has a more fertile land and 'better' looking wildlife and plants'' lool.... and that's 11 yrs behind behind the desk. no need to visit somaliland embassy, i'll get my somali passport from suux hoose ee hargeisa for $70. lol.

Good luck, keep the forum posted with pics. i don't think i'll be kidnapped. why would i be kidnapped? do i look white or am I an official representative of her Majesty's government. after seeing the way that recent somaliland delegation was received, i think i'll be fine.
  15. having met some wonderful southern business-men just the other day in hargeisa, i've decided that i'll be going to Mogadishu against all caution and common sense. its always been my destiny to visit this most peculiar of places; that you hear so much about. its time to put xamaar to the litmus test and to see how it fares.... i hear business is on the up and its apparently safe for dirta waqooyi to visit without being attacked or robbed...... we exchanged contact details but these guys have that archetypal al-shaabab would-be suicide bombers/ street militia look, so i'll need to do more research and see if its really that safe. i'll update you all on the progress of this epic visit. i wonder who'll meet me at aadan caade airport, maybe sharif himself. i will need to organise some activities too, maybe some of you who are indigenous to this part of the somali world can give me ideas of what i can do there..any specific places of interest, nightlife or any important buildings etc.
  16. Hi everyone... one of the highlights of living in Somaliland, at least for me personally, is the joy of hosting social events/parties at my place. every Thursday is the pinnacle of my week. after working hard all week, trying to ensure that the expenses for last months lavish social events are met, i take pleasure in hosting a group of friends at my places. these social events are always carefully managed to massage my massive ego. seating arrangement is absolute key, i always have my seat and no one dares to try to take my strategic position, which allows me access to see 360 degree perfect view, and i don't mean sitting in the middle of the room, cos that'll mean i'm an egomaniac, which i'm clearly not. anyways, sometimes, there are always 'those' instigators, who've in the past try to undermine my authority in my own place. these people are always dealt with in the meanness of ways - they're exiled from the laisse faire environments of these social events, which have become part and parcel of hargeisa's social calendar. you could say that i'm a socialite in somaliland and keeping up appearances is the key.
  17. oh! is that right now JB. chilling in summertime isnt really my idea of fun! who is 'we'?
  18. by the sounds of it seems like there actual 'sol' get togethers.

  21. I feel so angry today. i know why i'm angry.
  22. jb, you know me.... i came with an open mind, that's why i'm sometimes easily disappointed. i'd like to think that i have certain affinity with somaliland and its people.
