  7. no wonder you write in somali all the time MMA, making it difficult for me to understand your xamari-slanted phonetics like this character madd. . MMA, waxad tahay nin who went to the promised land only a few years ago. looool i'm going to addis tomorrow to go back home (beautiful hargeisa and i cant wait man). its pitiful when y'all write all this junk with the view of hoping to create nostalgia...
  8. ^ the fruits of the kacaan; who ended up as picket-stop militia men and petty criminals. what goodness has ever come out of xamar? MMA, just be glad you had the chance to escape that hell-hole before things really took a turn for the worst around 91'. but then again, a few years ago i remember you commenting on a thread saying you listened to ace of base in a Nairobi refugee camp awaiting your flight lol.
  9. Mukulaalow;811986 wrote: Alpha Blondy sxb you seem to be denying and just want to look on the other way. This is very common in africa, the worst are the Macalin Dugsi some of them used to torture children such as (blind fold, beating with caine, hand and feet restrain, all these). There should be the ministry of children in every government to make sure this dosn't happen.. i'm not denying that acts of abuse occur but seeing BOB comment that 'africa is no place for a child' is sickening.

Official line is we are seeking qof fit gareeya our environment yada yada yada I don't mind well groomed person personally:) yes this is true. these days its has become a requirment for many people, no doubt alliyaah too, that the brother must be on his 'deen'. too often, i feel those who subscribe to such delusions are fooling themselves in a fake and unhappy marriages. a brother must work first then be on his deen. a mans sense of himself is derived from his livelihood. in the area i use to live in north london, many of the brothers were too busy with their religious talks, usually based around the divisions in islam rather than working for his family and being a role model to his kids. its a double-edged swords, and you know, with the the crisis of masculinity among some segments of the BME communities, particularly the Somalis and reverted ex-convicts brothers and the welfare system replacing the man's role in the traditional family settings. sisters need a more practical approach when dealing with the difficult issue of finding a mate. they must consider very important qualities like profession, family reputations and other relevant attributes like personality, looks and length of beards and of course his 'deen'. a woman must never seek a mate in someone who she feels will help her practice her deen and so that they could together perfect the islamic kama sutra manuel - closer than a garment (which is a must read these days for newly wed couples) and wear matching his and hers Islamic clothing. islam is a way of life. its based on the customs and the values of the individuals and i feel sometimes women, particularly Somali woman, have a a simple understanding of it. if your religious values are in doubt, how can you expect a man to help you consolidate these values further. YOU CANNOT! a woman must first have a sense of self, in other words - she must be from a confident environs and must have a solid foundations before looking for what might seem like 'burdening assistance' from a brother not practising. the moral authority of the family comes from the man and not the woman. the man must be the one on his 'deen'. just like radical feminists, a sista whose too much on her 'deen', can have, what can of course seem like detrimental effects on the harmony of the marriage with her pressures of conformity and constant reminders of condescension, particularly those of not been on the 'deen'.

  17. Archdemos;811663 wrote: Unfortunately we don't live a meritocratic world where you're solely judged on your abilities. I've known very qualified people who are constantly looked over because they failed on first impressions. The idea is not give them any reason for you not to get a job. it's better to err on the side of caution and shave it all off. Its a bit silly at the end of the day for you to not get a job on the back of someones conscious or subconscious preference for facial hair. i agree. its a non-starter to wear a beard to an interview or to carry a muslim sounding name there too, indeed.
  18. aaliyah, does it worry you that you're 25+ and unmarried? god, i wouldn't like to be in your shoes, you know - with time ticking along quickly lol. come to las anod or hargeisa where you can be a second wife. you know options are always open or it either singlemuslims.com or eharmony lol.
  19. Alpha's humanitarian work Alpha Blondy (Seydou Kone) was named United Nations Ambassador of Peace for Côte d'Ivoire in 2005 . He made great efforts to bring about a peaceful solution to his country's political and physical division which was a result of an attempted Coup in 2001. As of March 2007 a peace agreement was signed and implemented, due to the hard work of many people including Alpha Blondy. Alpha now reaches out further with the newly created Not-for-Profit, Non Government, Non Political, Charitable Foundation, Alpha Blondy Jah Glory Foundation, which purposely and deliberately work towards ending social injustice and generational poverty by giving people the tools that they need to help themselves. He strongly believes in helping the poor (Jah Glory), and also that it should not hurt to a child. The Foundation strives to create and implement grassroots programs at the village level such as the Women’s Self-Sufficiency Micro Loan Program, to teach women who are caring for multiple orphans how to start and manage their own business, to better provide for their families, as well as other sustainable projects, such as the Tafari-Genesis Retreat Camp for Children (Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso). It especially hopes to bring joy and hope to children who have been affected by civil wars, Former Child Soldiers, and those who suffer from chronic life threatening illnesses, such as sickle cell anemia, malaria, asthma, etc.
